  • How to use Microsoft.Web.Administration?

    I've been managing websites in IIS 6, but I understand that things have changed radically from IIS7 and 'all I need to' is to consume the services available in of servermanager and Microsoft.Web.Management Microsoft.Web.Administration and I will have all the services and methods that I need to replicate what I did in IIS6.

    Well and good if you're savvy about this whole thing of "consuming services", which I suck at.

    I told myself I can find it in c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll and, indeed, it is here.

    Try as I might, I cannot figure out how to pull this off in an object so I can consume.  I tried:

    < cfobject type = 'COM' action = 'CREATE' class = "Microsoft.Web.Administration" name = "objMicrosoftWeb" > "

    < cfobject action = 'create' class = "Microsoft.Web.*" name = "objMicrosoftWeb" type = "com" > "

    < script >

    Set myServerManager = CreateObject('.) NET', 'ServerManager', 'c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll');

    < /script >

    < cfobject

    name = "serverManager.

    Component="c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll" / >

    all to nothing does not.  I'm obviously not a genius of the COM.

    Can someone clue me?  I think that even if I could find a way get a list of classes and methods, I might be able to reign in, but alas, I am naïve in this area.

    Thank you!

    I guess the trick is in how you phrase your question by looking for the answer.

    In desperation, I searched the error message I received and this ( gave me the answer, from here in the CF Forums, something that I had already sought.

    I've been using:

    Assembly="c:/Windows/System32/Inetsrv/Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll" >

    and get an error stating that the class was not in the list of assemblies (ApplicationDomain class not found in the list of the specified assembly. The assembly containing the class must be provided to the assembly attribute).

    Giving him simply the class name COMPLETE, as such:

    Assembly="c:/Windows/System32/Inetsrv/Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll" >

    I have achieved success.

    This issue is resolved. Hope this helps someone else looking for this solution.
