  My daughter had XP IE8 running on his computer, site update Windows XP SP3 download.  I downloaded and installed, however it won't start in safe mode. When I remove SP3, the computer loads normally.  I then uninstalled IE8 (went back to IE6), made sure I had the pre-requistes, followed the steps as outline on the microsoft site, downloaded SP3 again and installed.  It will only re-start in safe mode.  I tried everything, no matter what I do, XP SP3 causes the computer to restart in safe mode only.
