Hi David Muller.

Are you facing this problem during the installation of SP2?

If you are unable to boot in normal mode, you can try to perform a system restore and see if it helps.

Method 1:

You can see the article do a restore of the system either safe mode or boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista.

An update is not installed successfully when you try to install the update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

Method 2:

Case of failure of the restoration of the system, then you can also try to perform a repair of start start of the Windows Vista installation disc.

    Hi Ben,

    Remember to make changes before this problem?

    Method 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...)  Except the keyboard and mouse and then start.

    If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.  Then get any drivers\software update for the device.

    Method 2:
    follow the steps mentioned in the article below, and then run the Startup Repair

    It was working fine until I tried to intsal Service Pack 1 through Windows install after having been invited by windows that he criticized the update.

    Now windows won't start. I tried the Safe mode, but it stop at the "Loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys ' telling me to wait, but it does nothing.

    Someone please HELP!

    I was able to fix the problem by reinstalling windows using the Installation DVD of Vista. He did a "fresh" Reinstall. To do this you first have to set the BIOS to boot from the CD drive instead of the hard drive.

    Instructions to do so can be found here: http://techpaul.wordpress.com/2007/08/03/how-to-boot-from-a-cd/

    Insert your Vista DVD and choose repair or install. My Vista files have been basically corrupt but not your strength. If they are not to select Repair will give you the opportunity to do a system restore.

    Don't forget to reinstall Vista to wipe your hard drive and you will lose your files. System Restore will not. But if you supported rose them to an external drive or online so no problem!

    I hope this helps!

    You're in the wrong Forum for your questions.

    It is the instance to install Vista OS.

    You need the Vista repair Forum, or Windows Update Forum (which I have already mentioned on):

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistarepair/threads

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the information below does not it, repost nicely in Forum repair above or in the Windows Update Forum:
    Restore point:
    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

    See you soon.

  • After update - black of Windows Vista at startup display 1142/1142 (Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS)

    I had an update before closing my office last night (that is, using Vista).  This morning when I turned on the computer, a black screen came with the appearance of the following text:

    1142/1142 (Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS)

    I couldn't do anything so, I turned off my computer.  Now, the power will not come.  If anyone has any suggestions (could power suddenly gone bad or the power suddenly button failed - just a coincidence, it happened at that moment?).

    A big thank you to all those who wish to enlighten me on this matter.

    Note: This Office was purchased in 2008 - Acer Aspire AM5620-E5523A (I'll never buy Acer again once!)

    Bad news, I had the same problem with the regular updates and you have the same problem with SP2 4 days it y a. finished with the reinstallation of Vista (custom DVD of Vista mode). Talked to MS supports, they tried a number of things and that the proposed relocation. The only good news, it of on reinstalling Vista does not affect personal files in the C:\ root and save the files related to windows in the windows.old folder, so no personal files were lost. Just had to reinstall all applications.

    generally, 151 issues could be caused by infections of spyware and adware or computer.

    With the complete PC Restore Option you must make a backup of your system, your disk hard or on a set of DVDs, in order to use this option. If you do not have a backup then do not use this option

    1 / make sure your PC can start directly on the Vista DVD. Obviously, most modern PCs can. With older machines, you will need to check the BIOS of the PC

    2 / start the PC

    3 / immediately insert the Windows Vista DVD into the DVD drive

    4 / A black appears with the words "press any key to boot from CD or DVD".

    5 / press any key to start the boot process

    6 / a new screen now appears with a progress bar. The legend say "Windows is loading files".

    7 / after a few minutes the Microsoft copyright window wrong appear and another small progress bar will be visible

    8 / you will then see a blue screen of curtains

    9 / after a few moments the language option is displayed

    10 / select your language and keyboard language and click the next button

    11 / at the bottom left of the next screen - the installation screen, click repair your computer

    12 / the system recovery options will now search your Windows Vista installation

    13 / once the Vista installation has been located, select it and then click on the next button

    14 / you are presented with all of the following recovery options

    • Startup Repair - this automatically the bugs problems that prevent Windows to start
    • System Restore - this will restore Windows to an earlier point in time
    • Windows complete PC Restore - this will restore your entire PC - programs, files and system settings - completely from a backup that you created earlier (available in editions Windows Vista business, Enterprise and ultimate edition only)
    • Windows Memory Diagnostic tool - checks your computer's memory hardware to find errors
    • Guest - this opens a command window

    15 / click on the Option that you need and follow the prompts on the screen
