10 Windows does not stop

I have Gateway DX4850; Note that purchased acer gateway in 2007 and this is why I write about this Web site.

I just finished a facility 'clean' of Windows 10 on this PC. Although the gateway support page has only drivers for Windows 7, the installation was smooth and Windows found all the drivers with the Windows Update feature.

I just have a problem: when I type in shutdown, my computer off completely. The screen turns off, the light that indicates that the hard disk works will drain, put the Tower remains on.

I tried many fixes, such as:

* disable the "Fast Restart" and "hibernate".

* typing ' bcdedit/set disabledynamictick yes' in the command prompt.

* Troubleshooting (found nothing) 'Power';

* using the "shutdown /s" (doesn't).

Note that I have no Intel Rapid Storage (that was the problem for some users).

I tried to contact Microsoft and they told me to refer to the gateway. I contacted Acer (gateway) and they told me:

[...] is not actually a model that we support for Windows 10, unfortunately. Although Windows 10 can be installed and it can operate to a certain extent, we do not have the updated drivers available for it and probably will not be in any point in the future. You can always try to post on our Windows 10 community, as there may be other users who have encountered similar problems and may have a solution.

So, anyone have any ideas?

Hello everyone.

After a few weeks to manually power down from my desktop computer after selecting SHUT DOWN in 10 Windows, I decided to re-intall Windows 10. The previous one was a clean install (not an upgrade of Windows 7) and I proceeded in the same way. And it has worked, here is what I did to fix the problem!

I tried to disable Secure Boot in my BIOS, but this option was not there; I guess I have a legacy BIOS then.

I have inserted my USB (obtained by the media creation tool) and press F12 to select my USB drive to boot. I had two choices for my USB: 1 EFI and 1 non - EFI. I chose the non - EFI and installed Windows 10.

After you have installed Windows 10, I did all my Windows updates, including the software and drivers from Microsoft (no drivers from outside sources, just of Microsoft). I even installed Office 2010, set up my Outlook and installed a third-party software more that I use.

A driver has been installed at the front and it's not there now is the Realtek (for the sound card). But my sound works fine. Who could the problem? Can not know with certainty, but I am happy with my installation so far.

  • Qosmio G50 - Windows does not shut down without memory stick inserted

I have a Qosmio G50 running Windows 7. The pc does not stop unless I have my USB stick inserted. Without the USB, I can tell the pc to stop. Without the inserted stick, the pc will say that it stops and remains on the screen closed for 10-15 minutes and then restart.

However, as soon as I put the USB into the USB port, the pc will stop within 2 seconds.

It is not easy to understand the situation and explain why this happens.
Qosmio G50 is not latest model cell phone, so I can't imagine that this strange question comes on the first day.

Something like this can be done with the factory settings. The configuration, preinstalled software, background running applications and processes on your Qosmio OS are not known to us is not easy to help you with this.
Somehow, I think that something running in the background blocks of the system. Unfortunately, I can't say what that would be.

    Check a bit.
By the way: have you noticed the behavior even if you try to use standby or hibernation mode?

  • Satellite P300-28th does not start - windows does not load

I bought Toshiba P300 28th last week. I spent Vista business successfully in Windows XP Professional with provided Toshiba DVD. Update Windows with Windows Update. After 3 days, laptop turns off suddenly, and because Windows does not start, it in fact does not start.

When I press the power button / stop, it turns on, shows "Toshiba Leading Innovation" logo image option and "2", "press 12...", and it hangs and stops.
I tried pressing F2 and F12, nothing happened.

I can not access the boot menu.

I put the Toshiba Recovery CD, the hard drive does not work. Recovery disk does not start, despite earlier I remember put boot CD/DVD at the forefront in the Boot Options to Boot Menu.

I checked everything, power cable, took the battery in and replace after 3 hours, tried to turn on the portable power, without battery cable. Did not help.

    Don't know what to do?

    Your help is very appreciated.

    Hello Fiona

If you are unable to enter the BIOS (F2) at startup settings there must be some serious hardware problem.
I recommend to contact your local dealer where you bought this laptop and ask for help, or you can contact Toshiba service provider directly.

What you have tried to do is good but if laptop doesn t allow you to enter parameters of the BIOS something wrong here, and you need professional help.

  • Message viewer window does not appear

This started happening recently on my father 15 "retina Macbook Pro race El Capitan 10.11.3: when it starts to mail, the main display window does not appear.

It's there, but invisible: I know because by selecting "Minimize" from the [Windows] menu in mail brings up for a fraction of a second before it zoomed down to the Dock. Once there, you can click the icon in the Dock and it zooms out on the screen, after which things work normally.

Until you restart the computer, or stop and restart Mail.

Oddly enough, this problem will not occur when I start the computer in Mode safe. However, I have disabled all the login items and the problem persists with a normal startup.

I have never seen something like this and would appreciate any advice or suggestions...

    Try the following:

    1. Abandonment of post
    2. Move ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail to the desktop.
    3. Restart the messaging
    4. If Mail is not working properly, remove the com.apple.mail you had previously moved on the desktop.
  • S440/Win10 - does not stop correctly

    Hello

I have upgraded to windows 10 recently. After the upgrade, sometimes, the laptop does not stopped correctly - windows stops, the screen goes black, but thinkpad red LED remains flashing and I hear the fans still doesn't work. To really stop I have to press and hold the power button. The battery also is to be served, because after that I left it like that night, it was gone.

Now, it's a little weird because it isn't always happens. It only seems to happen after that the laptop has been for a while. If I had to bet, it would be related to switchable graphics as the behavior resembles the problem with graphics terribly switchable and sleep on win8.1.

To work around this problem, I took to restart the computer and stop just after shot, but Needless to say it is suboptimal.

Anyone has any ideas on how to fix it?

I think I found a solution. I have seen this mentioned in other forums of laptop, and it seems to have fixed for me.

The culprit seems to be this driver:

Intel(r) Management Engine Interface Driver for Windows 10 (version 11)

If you install the earlier (version 9, should be on the lenovo driver page) it solves problems of stop/standby.

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device

updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a

    Hello

More great frustration in my life have laptop brand new, this for me.

After that the laptop goes into mode 'sleep', I'm not able to go back to Windows. All light are there and watch as usual, but there is no Lenovo Welcome logo or any other sign of normal behavior. I can turn it off by holding the button market / stop, but when I turn back the problem is still there. Windows does not start.

I was able to go back to Windows that day after leaving just laptop without any power and battery.

I called Lenovo and they suggested to disable the standby modes use put into hibernation. I did it. When the screen saver started, something went wrong, computer got froze and I had to restart, but then again, black screen and no reaction.

My pc says that windows does not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM. It is said it can be repaired by using the original installation CD, but we do not have. Any ideas please?

The file is missing or corrupt is one of your files in the system registry.

By far, the best way to recover from this is to go to another computer and create a free Hirens Boot CD.
Download Hirens: <> http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ > (link at the bottom of the icon of the disk)
    Hirens CD burning <> http://www.hirensbootcd.org/burning/ >

Once you create the CD, and then start your system of problem with this CD.  In the first window, select "Mini Windows XP" and wait for the system to start.  When it starts, go to the Hirens Boot CD menu and select
    Register-> Registry Restore Wizard.
then follow the prompts.  This wizard will return a copy of your registry database from backups that are stored with your system restore points.  After the restoration, stop, remove the CD and restart.

When you start your system, it is recommended to perform a system restore operation to ensure the consistency of your system

    (3) have you tried plugging the USB stick on another computer?

    (4) what is the brand and model of the computer?

  • Windows is not stopped correctly

I have a Windows XP and one day I started it up, and he says

"Windows don't is not stopped correctly, please choose an option below.
I thought, what must have been a power surge, it's happened before, so I just hit start Windows normally. He began to start and then a screen like the one before that "Windows is not stopped... '. "I tried other options, but it's just a continuous loop. How should I do?

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If your system uses to work properly, what do you think might have happened to her since the last time, that it did not work properly?

If there is a problem starting, XP is configured to automatically try to start again and you can stuck in a loop not being able to go beyond the screen boot options, or none of these startup options you choose will work only.

Sometimes, when XP has a problem starting or falls down and tries to start again, it will give you a "short" menu of boot options and none of them will appear to be good to get your system going again.  You have tried them all!

The options are similar to the Advanced Boot Options menu XP, but the only option that you need (disable automatic error system reboot) are not offered, because XP went too far during the boot process and offers a limited number of boot options.

If this is the case, you must call Options menu advanced boot yourself until you do not see the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

When you get the XP Advanced Options correct start menu you want to see, he has options on it like these:

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt

    Enable Boot logging
    Enable VGA mode
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
    Debug mode
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

    Start Windows normally
    Reset
    Return to OS Choices Menu

You need to choose in this menu is the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

Then if XP does not start normally, you will see an error screen with information and clues about the problem and then you can decide what to do next.

If you do not see the automatic restart on system failure option turn it off, you must reset your system and start typing the key F8 on the keyboard until you see her disable automatic restart on system failure option.

If you miss the window of opportunity F8, you must try again and start tapping the F8 key with more urgency (earlier and more frequently) until you see disable automatic restart on system failure, and then select.

You must keep trying the F8 menu until you see disable automatic restart on system failure option, and select it.

If your system has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), we need to know what the screen says:

Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:

    http://TechRepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/images/bsod_a.jpg

Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).

Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.

If it looks like there is some kind of name listed in the STOP message file, send this line also.

Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.

Answering queries and results report of the disable automatic restart on system failure screen and you can decide what to do next.

Because my computer has been updated for Windows 10, my computer does not stop. Screen turns off, but it will not be closed, if I press and hold the button for a few seconds.

No idea how I can solve this problem?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

Try disabling the startup of Windows 10 hybrid - you can do the following.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close windows open and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon in Start Menu, select (Admin) command prompt and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

    Shutdown /s /t 0

Start the laptop and let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking if it is now shut down properly in the Start Menu.

If this has fixed the problem, it may be useful by turning the quick start back on - sometimes simply remove and re-create the file will solve the problem.

    Kind regards
