  In ESX4, the canonical name now is vml.xxxx and not vmhbax:x:x, so the script does not work on our ESX4 host because he shoots and sort by canonical name that he considers vmhba1 or 2.  Someone at - there a way to check the paths and failover that works in ESX3 and 4?  Given that our guests are a mixed bag of 3.x and 4.x, it makes it difficult to use our script since we run against a list hosts and get errors on hosts 4.x.  I hope there is a cmdlet that we don't know about it can audit path information.  Thanks in advance!

  Hi, I recently bought a new Hitachi 1 TB internal hard drive. I wanted to do a clean install on the new drive (d), be able to dual boot my computer and leave my old 300 GB disk (C :) as the primary windows installation. After physically installing the new HARD drive, I noticed that "new hardware found" and the the brand name flashed in the bottom right corner. I thought I'd see the new hard drive in my computer, but I did not. I initialized the new HARD drive with the computer management window (right click on my computer - manage) and I also formatted in NTFS (I had to change my printer hard drive letter to assign the new HARD drive with the letter D, but I've made other changes after this step). Now, I could see and use in my main windows on the C: installation. I then installed a windows new copy XP pro with the installation CD I got for my C: but on the D: (Note: I have a Dell computer (and the Dell reinstallation CD) and my current version of windows has SP3 while the installation CD is only SP2) (I also reformatted my HARD drive during the installation of windows to NTFS)

  Now when I try to start on installing the new on my D: I get "Windows did not start because of a configuration of the disk of the computer problem. Could not read the selected boot disk. Check startup disk and hardware access path. "and another line saying to refer to manuals HARD drive and windows.

  My Boot.ini file at this time was:

  I tried to use the bootcfg /rebuild but the line to boot.ini for my secondary HARD drive still does not work.

  I also tried to use expand F(dvd-drive):\i386\ntkrnlmp(I_have_a_duo-core).ex_ D:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe and a few other combinations, but I when I login as D:\windows simply, it fails to extend with a message like "could not develop" or C:\windows I get "restricted access".

  I have not yet tried CHKDSK/r, but since I did a clean install on a newly formatted drive... I don't think it would work.

  I've also marked the partition on the D: as active (in computer management), but it did not help me.

I don't really want to do this, because if I made a mistake I will be unable to use my computer and dual boot should work without going through all this trouble...   Edit: I also noted that I can't see my new HARD drive in my BIOS... weird... SATA-0 is my old drive HARD 1 and 2 are my dvd 3-5 readers are 'off' and it doesn't seem to be anything that it is plugged in. I also have 4 bays for internal HARD disks. Now, 2 are busy.

  Edit2: I looked inside my case and enabled the good Sata in the Bios after a reboot it detected the drive correctly. Dual boot doesn't always work well... The fact that it was disable in the BIOS while I was installing the new HARD drive could change anything? Hmm...

  In case I wasn't clear enough: I had a windows XP Pro installed on my C:, bought a new hard drive and installed the same copy of windows on it (d). I think that should allow me to double boot between the two installs different. Even if for some reason I can't boot from one on my D:. Andrew, I do not understand why you so far physically disconnect the other drive, the point of the whole operation is to build a boot.ini file so that the BIOS knows that it y facilities 2 windows and you allow to choose (and not have conflicting problems between the 2 systems), someone correct me if I'm wrong? "Expand" the part of my first post made reference to one of the solutions provided by Microsoft in the first link that I have included in my previous post (but I can't seem to work).

It's too tedious (as I intend to move frequently between the 2 installs) and requires a computer to other users of the lack of computer knowledge. Unfortunately, it is not a viable option.

  EDIT: I DID IT! Hmmm... Well, I double checked in the recovery console, the path of the new HARD drive with the arc command Scan. Tried to start again with the MULTI (0) in my boot.ini and it worked... I also had my windows install CD in. Maybe that is why I could not start, windows needs the CD to complete the installation? Weird, I don't know what I did to the difficulty it... but hey, it works! Thanks for your ideas guys!

  Hello.   Usually, a bad end cable will not cause you have. It could be one of the items you listed, but could also be the encoder being dirty in this place. Most of the time it's the belt as a defect in a bad belt could stop at the same place. If the sheath is a problem most of the time it stops at the opening of the left side. Also, if the tubes most of the time you can fix a bunch of heavy clear packing on the rim tape, tubes rub against and which solves the problem.

  Try instead a .zip installation. It should work. When you run Firefox for the first time, it will create a new profile if it is already there.

  I use the node of the library function call in LV 8.6. I checked the path to specify the box diagram and made directly in the DLL file that I use. Whenever I have started with Labview, I have to go to the diagram and physically find the DLL in one of my calls to make it work properly. Once I have do this everything seems to work as expected. Anyone else see this issue? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  Probably that DLL does not depend on other DLLs that reside in the same directory you point to in the configuration node dialog box call library. What is happening is this:

  Without going into this directory:

  LabVIEW applications Windows to load the DLL, Windows detects that it needs to load other DLLs and can not find in its standard search sites:

  (1) already loaded into memory

  (2) in the application directory (where the exe that began the current process resides in the LabVIEW IDE would be where is LabVIEW.exe)

  (3) in the system directory

  (4) in the Windows directory

  (5) any directory in the PATH environment variable contains

  (6) in the directory 'active '.

  Because Windows cannot find a person to load DLL he abandoned the main DLL loading and returns an error to LabVIEW.

  Now, you go to the configuration dialog box and point to the DLL. The dialog box browse file in LabVIEW uses the standard OS dialog box and this dialog box has the behavior obnoxious always update the "current" directory in the directory where a file got selected in. LabVIEW sees now that the path has "changed" and asks again to load the DLL. Yet once, Windows detects that it needs to load other DLLs too for this DLL but this time going over the search order, it will actually hit the DLL in the same directory and that's all fine.

  It is certainly NOT a problem of LabVIEW. LabVIEW does not and should not really need to know that a DLL needs other DLL loaded and more importantly should never try to think he can do better than Windows, it probably could, but is simply not his task of dependency DLL loading.

  It is your responsibility as a programmer and user of this DLL to know its dependencie, and if you did not write the DLL, to hit the original on his head programmer, if it has not documented these dependencies and make sure that these dependencies are actually properly resolved for Windows placing them in one of the places mentioned above

  ((2) is generally the best location for applications applications because it will not pollute the Windows directory or the user of the application system and 5) is the best for the development machine as you can add a directory to your PATH environment variable where you put the dll you need to develop a specific application.

• Error in Unit Test Framework: "the path of the VI test is not valid."

  I get this error on files lvtest for a few screws, it appears so when I click on the button "import values of VI.  The unit test framework correctly on some screws, but some work raise the error.  I tried to move and rename the files and of coarse checked the path of the file.  I'm open to suggestions, I'm starting to like what the Unit Test Framework is capable of, but this error becomes a problem for me.

  It seems that I do not receive the same error as you.  In the Advanced tab of .lvtest files, that you selected as the Configuration setting?  If you left it as default value, can you check to see if the orders/lights are selected in the connector pane?

  If you uncheck the box for games, click OK, restart your PC, then check the box for games, press OK and restart again, what happens?

  I haven't had any changes consciously, and the games do not work in any user account.  When I've done sfc/scannow (command prompt) he said that I was not the administrator.  I could learn from another source to solve this problem - in the start menu, right click on the command prompt icon, and then click Run as administrator.  Hope everybody help with this problem.  If you do not have command prompt in your Start menu, any type of command prompt in your search box and it should appear.

• MD1000 attached to MD3000. Virtual disk not on the preferred path

  I have a MD3000i box connected to 2 boxes of MD1000, these are connected to a Dell Power Vault Storage server 2003 running.

  Last night I connected the 2nd MD1000 and added in 25 TB of drives worth. I had initially hurt mapping the new virtual disk after 20 minutes or so, I noticed that I had shot the Ethernet cable plugged into the Module Raid 0 by mistake. I plugged it back in and was able to map the drive and started the initialization of disks.

  I came this morning to check how everything is done and found an error on the table. Disk not on favorite virtual path, preferred owner: at location 0 RAID Controller Module. Current owner: Module to slot 1 RAID controller. Group MD1000_2 of disc. Ramdisk: Virtual4.

  Now, it seems that influence the new virtual disk that I created. I checked the path virtual disk property and all the other virtual disks are using path 1 and try that I created to use channel 0.

  The virtual disk seems to be working for the moment it is detectable and to initialize itself in the area of operations of MDSM. I'm under pressure to get the space of storage as soon as possible, so I can't really afford to have to blow the virtual disk and restart the initialization. I'm hoping a simple reboot of the storage array will cure the problem, but I guess I can't do so until the end of the initialization of the disks. I could also remap the path to the virtual disk, but I saw online that it does not solve the problem, and I always have to wait until the initialization is complete.

  I deleted the disk group and created a new one that even once, did not help even after that I tried to change the path. I deleted again and created a new and then changed to RAID 1 controller quickly while he was still on the controller 0 (before it came with the failure of the path) as the preferred path that has cleared the error.   How many times do you get? If this happens often enough, you can make a capture of packets outside your ASA and correspond to all traffic from 172.16.0.3.

  If you are certain that no traffic whose source 172.16.0.3 address out of your router, intended for your ASA, having penetrated originally on a different router interface, traffic can be that your ASA with the source address 172.16.0.3, intended for 1.2.24.168, with a MAC of your router, hairpining out of your router, and heading to your ASA. The ASA then drops the package due to the verification of the RPF.

  If your router supports the out ACL, you can apply to the interface which faces the ASA. However, it should only be applied temporarily until you can find the real source of the traffic. Have you done an about 172.16.0.3 (or inside your ASA) packet capture to see if 172.16.0.3 is sending traffic to 1.2.24.168?

• I tried to install the Exchange management tools 2010 for Windows 7 Pro x 64. When it comes to check the pre - req, it always fails with this error:

  "Cannot load Windows PowerShell Microsoft.PowerShell.Security snap-in due to the following error: could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Windows\System 32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Microsoft.PowerShell.Security.dll' or one of its dependencies." The system cannot find the specified file. »

  I checked the path specified and the file is not located there, however, watching another installation of windows 7, the file is missing from this situation as well, but works very well.

  Since PowerShell V2 is already installed, of course it cannot be reinstalled.  I tried to run a repair with the DVD of Windows 7, but as it is patched SP1, the original disc does not work.  Nor will re-apply the Service Pack.

  About abandoned on the installation of exchange tools and will likely be on a different computer, but would be nice to have powershell works again.
