10GE copper Nexus 5 k
Hi all.
Small question: what FPS do we need on our Cisco Nexus 5 k to connect to a server to 10 Gigabit Ethernet, if this is going to be connected with a CAT7/RJ-45 UTP cable?
We have several SFP modules that work with fiber on our Nexus N5K C5596UP, but we have never signed anything with copper, and still less that supports 10G. Someone told us that it has been supported, but check the Cisco documentation we only see cables twinax, nothing else.
I appreciate all help.
Thank you.
Hello
I don't think that a SFP transceiver-10GBASE-T is available for the Nexus 5 K.
If you look at the Modules Cisco 10GBASE SFP data sheet , there is no such SFP + transceiver listed.
A search on OCC for 10GBASE-T transceivers finds only the transmitter/receiver X 2 - 10 GB - T listed in the Cisco 10GBASE X 2 Modules data sheet which is of no use to you.
There is a plug-in 12-port 10GBASE-T (PID-N55-M12T), which is perhaps overkill for your needs, but also who took in charge only in the Nexus 5596 T chassis according to the Cisco Nexus 5548 P, 5548UP, 5596UP and 5596 T switches data sheet. I don't know why this would be the case given the 596UP and 5596 T are based on the same ASIC, etc.. Perhaps a question to your Cisco sales representative.

Hi all
I'm looking for a GE copper switch 24-port 10. After any time, I just N2K-C2232TM-10GE. However, this switch is extensor of fabric, and it is used with the Nexus 5 K series switches.
My question is
Can I use this standalone Nexus 2 K like other is L2?
Thank you
Kind regards.
24-port copper 10 GigE is the type of a command. Most of the people who need 10Gig don't hesitate to go to a somewhat larger switch. Your best options are probably the witch "N3K-C3064TQ-10GT" has 48 ports of 10GbaseT and 4 ports QSFP or the "N5K-C5596T-FA" that comes with 32 ports or 10GbaseT and 16-port SFP +, it has also 3 expansion slots and can extensor of fabric of support if you think that you can at a given time.

Using SNMP to monitor Cisco Nexus 5000
Hello
I would like to know what specific OID to use to monitor the following using SNMP on a Nexus 5000:
-L' total CPU usage
-Power supply status
-Status of Fan chassis
The Nexus is quite different from other devices Cisco - any help will be appreciated!
CPU: oid to use is: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.305.1.1.1 (cseSysCPUUtilization) is a part of the MIB:
CISCO-SYSTEM-EXT-MIB
It displays the value as a percentage of the processor.

You can read in:
FTP://FTP.Cisco.com/pub/MIBs/v1/Cisco-entity-FRU-control-MIB-V1SMI.my
that means values integer by OID.
Take for example (look at the file
( ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/oid/CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB.oid)
cefcFRUPowerOperStatus: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.2 for one of the
index:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.2.22 = INTEGER : 2
We now need to find 22-year-old:
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.47.1.1.1.1.7.22 = STRING : « 20 port 10GE SFP + / superviseur
in the Module fixed-1"
That means now the INTEGER 2 from:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.2.22 = INTEGER : 2
Lets look at: CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB-V1SMI.my, section
cefcFRUPowerOperStatus, if you are looking for in this file you will find: we (2),
That measn this controller is actually turned on and powered.

Switch Cisco Nexus 6004 removes more than 300 bytes IP packets
Hi all
We have a circuit of wave level 3 10 G running between two switches Cisco Nexus 6004. The circuit came online between our two data centers (in the same city) without problem.
When attempting to ping to the remote-end 10G interface, it works very well with packets of 64 bytes. CDP is enabled and that we see the CDP information remote switch. However, if we increase the size of the ping to more than 300 bytes packets, we lose 1 in every 20.
We settings MTU verifed, type of cable of 10G and duplex settings.
Level 3A tested clean and we will move forward with more testing.
Any ideas on the problem? We feel the carrier out and end to test with their testers. But so far, the circuit's own test. I was not sure if it is something related to Cisco. I am at a loss at the moment.
Thank you.
Mike
Hi Mike,.
There is nothing wrong with your switches or circuit. NEXUS devices have a default COPP on the control plan that limit the size and the amount of traffic that must be the CPU process.

Balancing of VMware with Nexus 1000v
With the vmware puts vDS or vSS, I see many designs use the asset-liability approach for binding rising consolidation of NETWORK cards, IE a vmnic is active will fabric and a vmnic is passive will fabric B. This setting is configured in vSphere.
Se this article: http://bradhedlund.com/2010/09/15/vmware-10ge-qos-designs-cisco-ucs-nexus/
Is this correct, that we can put in place a regime with the 1000V? All the network is on the 1000V config, and as far as I know, we can only configure the uplink in these 3 modes:
1. LACP 2. vPC-Host Mode 3. vPC-Host Mode Mac pinning
and they are all 'active' based.
Post edited by: Atle Dale
Yes. All uplinks are used. Each VM virtual interface is pinned to one of of the uplinks. If one uplink goes down, all interfaces pinned gets dynamically likes to remaining uplinks. A mac address will only see on a single interface at a time. This is how MAC pinning prevents STP loops.

Question about Nexus and catalyst
Hello
I have a few questions on Nexus switches and how they compare with the catalyst.
With the 2248TP Nexus can be managed without needing a switch like the Nexus 5 k parent?
It would not be a good review of select Nexus as a catalyst?
That snap Nexus would be a good catalyst replacement 3850? It's in terms of cost and bandwidth capacity.
When you buy SPF + transievers of these switches, they come in pairs for two switches or just a transiever?
Kind regards
Waqas
Hello
With the 2248TP Nexus can be managed without needing a switch like the Nexus 5 k parent?
No, 2 k switches need a switch to parent, it might be a 5 k, 6 k, or a k 7.
It would not be a good review of select Nexus as a catalyst?
It depends on your need. The 3850 is mainly a copper switch with fiber uplink. 5Ks are mainly a switch of fiber with copper modules, that you can buy. The Nexus series does not support POE, but make the 3800 series. So, everything depends on your applications.
That snap Nexus would be a good catalyst replacement 3850? It's in terms of cost and bandwidth capacity.
NEXUS series is designed for data center with a lower latency, the faster chips, the flow rate, etc... If you are designing a data center, you want the Nexus series. Usually, the Nexus is more expensive than the 3800, but this isn't always the case.
When you buy SPF + transievers of these switches, they come in pairs for two switches or just a transiever?
When you buy the 2ks, they come with 8 FETs, which can be used to connect a 2ks to 5, 6 or 7ks through 4 uplinks. FETs are Cisco propriatry optical and may not be used between the 2ks, and parent switches.
If you need any other optical, you will have to order them separately.

Can I recover from a damaged screen Nexus 4 Firefox bookmarks?
I cleverly broke the screen on my Nexus 4 lately, so while the phone itself works (and I can log in to view / edit files using a USB cable), I can't do anything that involves the use of the screen (download / running apps, writing, etc.).
I have now replaced it with a Samsung Galaxy S6 and have installed the Firefox browser for mobiles, but would like to get my old favorites off the coast of the Nexus. I hadn't used synchronization, or all apps to save them, so I guess my only option is if I can copy in the whole of system files.
Is it possible- and if so, where can I find the? I found a Computer\Nexus 4\Internal storage\Android\data\org.mozilla.firefox folder, but it doesn't seem to have anything in it (0 files, 2 folders). I'm not very optimistic at this point, but appreciate any suggestions!
You would need to root the phone to access the bookmarks/history file (browser.db).

No bookmarks on Nexus 7 star?
There is no star of bookmarks on the last installation of Firefox on my Nexus 7 (2012 model). I can't add new bookmarks or get to those I had before.
How can I fix this problem?
Press the right menu button superior (3 icon dotted), see the "bookmark star".

I have a Nexus 7 run Android version 4.4.2. I get emails from my account gmail on it without problem, but they do not come in my Inbox in Thunderbird on the desktop PC more and I would that they. I don't have the mind to read emails on the Tablet, but I would say rather desktop, because I can actually type and the keyboard of the Tablet is a pain.
If you want to access your account from multiple devices I use IMAP on all of them. That's what this Protocol was developed for.
