One possible cause is security software (firewall, antivirus) that prevents or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

Delete a few files TEMP this morning and AOL and Firefox no longer works. AOL will again and removed all traces of the first installation of Firefox and downloaded a new version of Firefox. The program opens, but it immediately goes into a status of "not responding" and appears in the tab 'connection '. Cannot click on anything on the Firefox screen. Need to go to the Task Manager to kill the program. Have removed and reinstalled several times. Disconnected the firewall and antivirus. Again and always get the same result. Tried in safe mode. Same result. Going on 8 hours of work on this thing. Need help badly. The system is a version update of XP.

Thank you all, but I gave up. Tried all the suggestions without success. Put at disposal of the HDD with Windows XP and the problem of Firefox and loaded Windows 7 on a new drive. I had saved a file backup Favorites from the XP machine and successfully migrate the new hard drive. Thanks again.

Not related to your question, but...

    You must update some plug-ins:

  • Firefox does not connect to any Web site, but other browsers will.

When I get something in the URL- google.com, localhost, http://127.0.0.1/ one bar the IP address, there is a fraction of a second flash, then the bar becomes empty and nothing has changed. It seems that Firefox is not even try to connect to the internet.

Yesterday, everything was fine when I was running FF on Windows 7. After the upgrade to Windows Pro 8, Firefox has failed. I've updated for Windows 8.1, hoping for the best, but it's the same problem.

I've walked by the firewall program, several times (the only race is the built-in Windows Firewall). Finally, I uninstalled Firefox, including all my settings, custom and reinstalled from scratch, twice. And even this version pure and clean Firefox does not connect to the internet.

I am a computer web developer and would be happy to look at the log files or run a tool (Fiddler?) to see what happens at a low level, if I only knew where to look.

john99, thanks for the links. I went through all (again), one by one. The last link kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic showed me what helped. I've renamed "firefox.exe" to "firefox1.exe" and was able to use firefox.

It made me suspect the firewall or malicious software. I ran a Malwarebytes full scan, zero problems detected. I have pored on the entries of windows firewall, the "Windows Firewall with advanced security" view and also the simple control panel view. The only mention of Firefox is that I continue to add and remove to allow firefox through.

Here I knew what was going on, but for now, I can at least use firefox. How frustrating!

  • Firefox 3.6 on Debian 6.0 14 takes about 20-30 seconds to connect to a Web site. Other browsers normally work fast.

Just upgraded my DSL to 7 Mbps. I did not notice the problem, if it actually occurred on the slow line. When I launch Firefox 3.6.14 (not Iceweasel) compiled for amd64, it takes about 30 seconds to connect to any website or when I change to a different Web site. Meanwhile, the message in the status bar says "Looking up" {website}. No other browsers available that, nor does my windows machines using IE or Firefox. Help > troubleshooting the dough was too big. I will sent if necessary. Thank you.

    Try disabling IPv6.

  • Safari cannot connect to the server, but other browsers can?

    Hi all

I read a lot of posts on this issue but do not seem to share the same success or symptoms.

    I'm unable to access a domain www.ninnim.co.uk

I can access it fine on my iPhone and Chrome.

I can't access mode without failure or any other profiles created.

I have not a firewall is enabled, and it is the only area in which I can't access. Of course, when I talk about godaddy they simply access via IE and it works fine, which puts an end to their participation in supporting me.

Someone has ideas what could cause this and how can I do to put it right?

  • Firefox displays blank spaces where text should be (for example, by displaying the code), but other browsers

Firefox does not completely display the text in a Web site, but other browsers. It displays blank spaces in some sections.

Thanks to all who have replied but I actually quit using firefox after this frustration. I finally found a solution of this page: http://askubuntu.com/questions/118346/firefox-doesn ' t-display-site Web-text

I had run the script to reset the cache of police on machines and change the permissions. Now, everything seems to work correctly. I look with suspicion, but I think I can use firefox!

    Thank you!

  • Firefox cannot load Web sites administrator

Firefox cannot load websites administrator. I get a blank page

Firefox load website but not the administrator. None of the websites administrator

See the link in the first answer, http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20clear%20the%20cache#w_clear-the-cache

  • Firefox cannot load Web .xml page, but IE it loads OK

When I try to access this Web site in Internet Explorer, it works fine, but in Firefox, I get the following error message:
In the unlikely event that you are reading this instead of see the structures of files, as expected, it means that your browser does not display the images correctly. Your browser must support frames for this working paper. It must also support XML and XSLT, as well as Javascript and CSS. »

The site is: http://www.mcscustomerclub.com/xml/schema324.xml and contains a dictionary of data in the file.

The Web site is a resource protected by password, accept my user name and password but then gives the error message above. In IE, it displays the dictionary right after I entered my user name and password.

    I have:

    (1) cleared my cache and restarted Firefox
    (2) Javascript installed
    (3) in all: config, browser.frames.enabled is set to 'true '.
    (4) deleted all add-ons, restarted Firefox and tried again from the site but did not work

I tried in Firefox on my work and my PC at home (version 20.0.1 on both machines), and it does not work on each machine. On IE it properly displays the dictionary.

Nobody knows what is / could be the problem and how can I fix?

    Thanks again for your response.

I found a solution so I can use the file in Firefox. I simply saved in Internet Explore to my documents in HTML format and set a link to the local file as a bookmark. Is not ideal because it means that I'll have to check updates and download them on an occasional basis, but at least it works!

    Kind regards
    Martyn

  • Key on the keyboard does not work in firefox box when you type in the web site, but it works everywhere else?

Key on the keyboard does not work in firefox box when you type in the web site, but it works everywhere else?

Try Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.

A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • You can open the mode without failure of Firefox 4.0 + by pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.

Do not choose anything at the moment, just use 'continue in safe mode.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.

If it's good in Firefox Safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

Can be caused by an add-on to the AVG.

When find you what is causing that, please let us know. It might help others who have this problem.

  • I use IE9 and cannot download files on Web sites. Is there a solution?

I use IE9 and cannot download files on Web sites.  It allows me to locate the file, and then he says your file is downloaded, but just keeps spinning.

This happens on several sites and when I call their tech support, I said that there is a problem with IE9. If I use another laptop with IE8, there is no problem.

    Open a browser window,

Press the F12 key, then click browser mode,

    Click on ie8.
