11 - inch MacBook Air can move 16 GB memory ram?

Can a MacBook Air 11 inches go to 16 GB memory ram?

If this is not the case, what Macbook can go up to 16GB of memory ram?

I prefer to buy the cheapest and then buy my own ram put in me, but I've heard some macbooks now, you cannot install your own memory, must come installed in the factory.

It is not possible to update the RAM after purchase on a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro with Retina display or a MacBook 2015 or newer. Click here for the list of possible RAM maximum for each Mac model.

    Hi guys!

I have an old end 2010 11 inch MacBook Air. Is it possible to replace this laptop battery with a battery from a newer model with a higher capacity?

Obviously, the laptop has is no longer guaranteed, so I'm not afraid to experiment.

I would be grateful links to manuals, tutorials, guides, etc.. Thank you in advance!

I wouldn't do it.  Note the spare batteries available on the website of OWC:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/search/battery+MacBook

They have a specific battery of 2010, then a different battery for 2012 and newer models.  It is fair to say that they are different.

OWC also has instructions for Setup here:

    Ciao.

  • intermittent problems / macbook air 2015 250 GB/8 G RAM / Yosemite 10.11.5

    Hello world

I have intermittent starting problems. Technician at the shop said that it is important to reproduce the problem so that they can provide recommendations for repair. This mac is still under warranty and if I want to do the repair, it must be respected, that is me being left without a computer for a few weeks. I tried several steps to solve and I'm not sure if it has been set of troubleshooting. Please see below for details.

13 July: tried to turn heard chimes, seen... progress bar on the mac, the computer stops

    • -restart the mac, called logo appears and it stops.
    • -J' tried reset SMC, it was answered, rebooted the mac, apple logo appears and it stops.
    • -WAITED 15 minutes, on the mac, it was completely start-up, but it stops after 10 minutes.

I went to the Apple repair center, controlling material by staff and it happened, reset the ESCM and LANDAU. For some reason, we couldn't reproduce the problem. It has worked well.

August 4: turn on the mac, punt managed could connect po... then he froze.

    • -made the hard reset, it fully charged, but it froze when I tried to log in
    • -did the reset once again, he lit. Clicking on my avatar, can you stop
    • – on return, he showed dashes flashing on the left side of the screen

    • -a tried to turn it back on, it showed the folder flashing with an exclamation mark.
    • -Restart the mac twice, but it showed the same thing.
    • -For access to the I tried the recovery disk, but it was inaccessible.

I went to the apple repair center, he showed the foder flashing with an exclamation mark. They tried to test the material (they have connected a cable to test), but the computer has failed. The technician said it's dead. I went home and did not want to send my mac for repair coz I was on a business trip.

August 5 - tried to turn back, until I did the reset SMC and he responded.

    • -He was able to start successfully, and he was able to log in. 15 minutes later, he stopped.
    • -Fact reset the PRAM and resetting the SMC
    • -in turn, and it has functioned and somehow solved the problem.

Now August 6, it still works very well, I ran the diagnostic Apple and it didn't find any hardware failure or display errors.

I don't know what to do. My mac is under warranty, but I couldn't replicate the problem and I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software problem. The technician at the apple Center said that it is better to reproduce the problem and observe the mac. I can't afford to be left without my cell phone. t

I installed the most recent application is the Vmware fusion (24 May), which is something I rarely use.

Hi Dabmeister, intermittent problems are difficult to diagnose.

As a first step, I suggest to use the Combo Update 10.11.6 to replace any system software that is corrupt.

    https://support.Apple.com/downloads/MacOS

The Combo update is a complete installation, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update, so you have to overwrite all files are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have previously applied. All your data and settings must be kept, but that said, you should always have a backup.

  • MacBook Air (13 inch, mid-2012) autonomy

    Hi all

I have a question for those who currently own a mid-2012 13 - inch MacBook Air.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Please launch the Console application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Step 1

For this step, the title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages

in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

In the upper right corner of the Console window, there is a search box to filter. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes).

Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the BOOT_TIME message that corresponds to the last boot time when you had the problem. Now, clear the search box to display all messages. Select those recorded before starting, during the time that something unusual was happening. Copy to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

For example, if the system is unresponsive or unable to stop for three minutes before you forced a reboot, post the timestamped messages within three minutes before the start time, not after. Please include the message BOOT_TIME at the end of the extract from newspaper - not at the beginning.

If there is a long series of messages, please post only one example of each. Do not post of many repetitions of the same message.

When you post a journal excerpt, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Please don't dump blindly thousands of lines in the journal in this discussion.

Please do not post screenshots of log messages - text poster.

    Step 2

    In the Console window, select

DIAGNOSIS AND diagnostic USE information reports ▹ System

(not diagnose them and use Messages) in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

    in the menu bar.

There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points downwards. You will see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the process crashed and ends with ".crash". A report of panic has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends with ".panic." A report of stall stop has a name ending with ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The content of the report is displayed at right. Allows you to copy and paste to validate all of the content, text, not a screenshot. It is possible that none of these reports exist.

I know that the report is long, perhaps several hundred lines. Please report all this anyway.

If you don't see any report, but you know, there was a crash or panic, you can have selected diagnostic and using the list of Log Messages. INFORMATION on the USE of DIAGNOSTIC AND choose instead.

In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you change the UUID ' anonymous, ' a long string of letters, numbers and dashes in the header of the report, if it is present (it cannot be). "

Please do not post other types of diagnostic report - they are very long and rarely useful.

When you post the journal excerpt or the accident report, you might see an error message on the web page: "you have included content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the forum software. Thanks for posting the text on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

  • MacBook Air 11 "(mi-2011) material issue"

Hi, I had a MacBook Air "Core i5" 1.6 11 "(mid-2011) a few months ago by my sister. I'm new to Mac, but I've been fixing PC for more than 20 years. Need a little advice on the model of this issue.

Full specs are here MacBook Air (11 inch, mid 2011) - technical specifications

Short story is that the Macbook Air was dead. After buying the screwdriver specialized to open the macbook air, I managed to get out the internal SSD Flashdrive on but as Apple uses customized connectors I had to buy an external case to test the drive and he was DEAD.

So I installed El Capitan on an EXTERNAL drive plugged into the USB. It's a plus for Apple to initialize external drives and a nice feature.

Once I got the macbook air I found following several breakdowns of equipment.

    1 SSD drive is dead

2 camera and the Microphone is dead. No facetime.

3 the POWER BUTTON is dead and holding down the macbook air will not shut. (I had to unplug the connector from the motherboard) This allowed me to switch on/off the computer buy pulling on the magsafe power supply.

I have been fixing computers based on Windows for decades and never seen so many parts fail both.    WHAT CAN CAUSE THIS?

At first I thought it was the logic board at fault, but I doubt that is the case. I can only assume a power SURGE or something to do as much damage.

I was hoping to get this up and running for my daughter from school to save money, but unfortunately not the case. The price of all the ssd drive is high and he still has a chance to not work if the logic board is also damaged.

THEN AND MATERIAL SPECIALISTS MACBOOK GOT SOME ADVICE?

It's true that to fix the power button that is dead the keyboard needs to be replaced?

Advice would be useful. For now I am able to use with the base of the cover off and the battery disconnected but is now portable way.

    Thank you very much

    cinospotts

Like you, I had business with the PC and computers relatively old. You have quite the list, and you probably answered your own question. I have studied logic board only and lives at $ 200-300 min. purchase from a reliable source of Apple pieces. In my opinion.

  • Why my sound button does not work on my Macbook Air? New

I stupidly clicked "Questioned solved" on my last thread, I'm sorry. Here's my problem:

I have a late 2010 13 inch Macbook Air and when I press on my sound button on my keyboard it does not to do (the image is appearing). Also, when I watch a video with my unpredictable sound helmet goes out and hangs my computer for a few seconds. How can I fix?

    Carolyn Samit proposed that:

"Disconnect the headset and then see if the prohibitive icon disappears when you press F12 icon."

Also, open System Preferences > Sound , then select the output tab.

Make sure you have good sale selected device and the mute box is not checked. »

    And I answered:

"I did what you said and selected the correct output device but curiously he still doesn't seem to work. The icon disappeared when I pressed the F12 key. You have any other suggestions? Thank you very much. »

    Thanks if you can help.

  • Impossible to change the settings for virtual memory by using Fusion 5 on MacBook Air

I use VMWare Fusion 5.0.3 and I'm trying to start a picture.  The image complains that I need to reduce the virtual memory settings.  I go to settings: processors and memory and reduce from 4 GB to 2.5 GB image. There is no button Save, so I click on the red X.  I tried this several times using several ways to access the settings and that you can save them using any combination.  I started a VMWare image which has 2 GB configured 'work' and was unable to change these settings as well.  My MacBook Air has 4 GB of physical RAM.

Okay - problem solved, but do not really exactly know how; but Dariusd started me in the right direction. I was at VMWare 4.1.x last week and recently updated to v5.0.3. I don't remember having these problems before. When I launched my VMWare image running in v4.1.x around v5.0.3, initially asked me if I wanted to move the VM and I said no.  I restarted the VM today (after having deleted all files and not pumped up the images once again) and responded yes, this time to upgrade. However, just after I tried to upgrade the virtual machine I got the error message "not enough of memory" again. So I then when in the parameters, as Dariusd suggested and changed the number of processor to 1 and changed the value of memory: However, it did not work. BUT, I did it again, changed the number of processors to 4 and then lowered the memory to 1024 as VMWare has suggested. IT WORKED! So I don't know if it was the attempt to upgrade the size of memory VM (which I doubt) or change to 4 processors as well as the update of the memory. Be it, I'm in place and thank you!
