1297cb HP P7: lack of response from the hard drive or windows 7 to my monitor help

Greetings.  I have a HP P7 1297cb, all original material except the memory and hard drive.

Original OS at home, is now Pro.
I thought that my hard drive has expired and bought a new WD 2 TB black.
And I don't have the other HDD cause I already threw out.

So, here I am.   I installed the WD Black again and nothing.  Monitor powers and that's it.
I get a hard drive light to everything first, about 5 to 10 seconds and off.  Touch HD and feels light low race.
All fans and fees lights.  Power light on.

No NumLock or number lock lights.  Œuvres and key/monitor / mouse, as I am with them now.

Shot four sticks of 2 GB memory and get the beep.  One at a time plugged in no beeps and back in.
You use a Windows 7 Pro disk rebuild for installation.  When the computer starts, I tried F10, F12 and nothing.
I even pulled the mobo battery for a few seconds.
I disconnected the power supply cord (pc) and held in the power button for about 30 seconds.
I even turned on with the installation disc in and waited (until at least 20 minutes) to see if the screen would change nothing.
I am willing to check the cpu, which remains the only thing to check, I'm guessing that about it.
I get no beep or beeps when the pc starts.

So, I guess also, that my problem was not the hard drive in the first place. ???
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I don't know what a "Windows 7 Pro Rebuild disk'- so I don't know if it's any bootable media.

Unless you changed the default device sequence in the start section of the configuration of the BIOS, it will look at the HDD FIRST and since it is empty, the PC will simply sit there - nothing to do.

So, you must get to a boot device selection screen to boot from the DVD of Win7.

The typical ways of doing are to press F9 or F12 - one of them will be implemented a unique boot device selection menu.  Then, you select the DVD drive and the PC should then restart.

It can display a line of text at the top of the screen, something like «press any key to boot from...» "If Yes, press the space bar.

If the DVD is good, the PC will then start on the initial screen for the installation of Windows.

Good luck

  • Equium A100-147 - clicking noise from the HARD drive

For awhile, I had clicking noise from the HARD drive and when the laptop could not, I assumed the reader was packed but trying a replacement nothing happens. I get a blue light for battery and a blue light (low) for the supply of direct current, but nothing for power or disc. However, when I plugged in an external drive yesterday it starts fine and when I unplugged the laptop continued to work the internal drive. But even once this morning he died and will not start. I read that the BIOS can stop recognizing the drive or maybe that the settings are not being saved when it is off. Could it be the motherboard battery?

    > reading the BIOS can stop recognizing the drive or maybe that the settings are not being saved when it is off

Enter the Bios (press f2 at startup) and check if it recognizes the hard disk. You can see on the home page or the boot option in the Bios.

I have the Satellite A200. When I start my laptop the patter comes from the hard drive.
    Someone knows something about it?

In my view there s nothing wrong with your HARD drive.
My drive HARD click every time while accessing data on the laptop and everything run ok for 3 years.

But that doesn t mean that there is no hardware problem with your HARD drive. Usually it's not easy to tell when a HARD drive wound begins to malfunction. My first HARD drive died after 6 years of use. But the other HARD drive died after 1.5 years. This damage was covered by the warranty.

Finally, I would recommend backup your data always on an external HARD disk to prevent data damage.

    Hi herikhi,

Change the start of the base system (Input Output) BIOS setting to boot from the hard drive.

Consult the manual of the manufacturer, to do the same thing.

NOTE: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from configuration can resolved BIOS/CMOS settings. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • My main computer crashed and the data has been retrieved from the hard drive, including all of my Outlook Express dbx files

I'll provide too much information because those of us who are computer knuckleheads think that everything is important since it is a mystery to us.

My main computer crashed and the data has been retrieved from the hard drive, including all of my Outlook Express dbx files. There are four years of e-mails in these files and critical that I be able to open them.

My only working computer running XP. It has Outlook Express is installed on it and was once used for e-mail, but not more and not implemented with my ISP to send or receive if it matters at all. Other that the sending and receiving of all the other functions of the OE program appear to be operational.

I have read many explanations on how to open the files dbx on different sites - all is completely different and most seem well beyond my skill level.

There is a fairly painless way to open these files? I don't want to try anything that could damage them. Please... any solution please guide me through in its simplest form - I am 64 but pretend you are explaining the process to a 7 year old. Yes, I'm that lame!

Sorry for writing a novel and thank you to all who take their time to help the ignorant!

I advise you to immediately copies of your DBX files restored. Save the duplicates in a place safe, and don't mess with them.
Then try using one of the various tutorials that you have found on the Internet by using a copy of your DBX files restored.
I did it a few times, but years ago and I DBX http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/questions/how-i-open-corrupted-dbx-files-in-oe/ visualization tool
You just continue to make attempts, using a tutorial after another.
As long as you have these unchanged copies of backup of your DBX files, you should survive it - other than frustration. Email PC remains a mess.

  • (Redirected) Cannot boot from the HARD drive on dell n5010 with SSD and HARD drive installed

I have my old dell n5010 (15R Inspiron) with SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120 G) installed on the main drive Bay and the HDD (Samsung HJJ 500 G) on the optical drive Bay.

It is a typical way to add an SSD on such an old laptop (bought from dell.com.cn in 2011).

My Windows 10 operating system has been installed on the SSD using Samsung Data Migration software, so the previous C drive was pointless. So I formatted and installed an operating system Ubuntu 14.04 on it, hoping the grub OSs double beginning located on the HARD disk.

However, I find no the Dell bios boot option to boot from the HARD drive installed in my optical drive Bay. All the choices are 'Hard Drive', 'Network' and 'Diagnostic '.

But I was definitely sure that my bios program has detected the SSD and HDD with information on the main menu of the bios.

And the LED on the optical drive Bay was immediately once I pressed the Start button on my laptop.

As a general rule, all things were right except for options of the bios boot.

Is there a way I can boot from HDD (with installed Ubuntu) while remaining has my SSD on the main drive Bay? I don't want to swap their positions, because the SSD is super fast on the main drive Bay.

I have alse won't migrate 10 Windows to the HARD drive and reinstall Ubuntu on the SSD, because I'd like my windows be loaded quickly.

Someone at - it the same problem with me?

    Any suggestion is appreciated!

  • How to find the hard drive in Windows 8

    Hello

Is there a "Search" option in Windows 8 as we had in XP and all windows before that?

I have been using a desktop computer with Windows XP. Recently. I got a laptop that has Windows 8. I tried to familiarize myself with him, and. I could find most of the applications that I have served in front. What I can't find is the "research" used to help me find everything in existence in my hard drive, and also showed me exactly where to find them.  There is a search here on the side of the desktop, but all this start I can find are applications and things that are already in the start menu. I would like to know where I can find that sees everything in the hard drive...

    I appreciate help with this.

I have Windows 8 and 10 of the EI.

  • Sound weird coming from the hard drive, every Min or 2-Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520

Not really sure if this is still a bad question. This player has not yet failed. It's just making a weird noise, I have no idea what could be the cause.

The ticking, in this video, is exactly the same. The only difference. Undermines the fact every 1 min, sometimes every 2 minutes... and sometimes all 3 or 4 minutes. And he just does the ticking sound once. not again and again.

If a tick from time to time. You can hear only - when everything is guiet? Just a tick and it disappears for a while?

Does that mean that my drive has failed? Reason why I'm asking. After a year of use, the hard drive has failed-It just died. Dell has replaced the disc/Msata too. It was near another year, with replacement. Is this a sign that I should back up and save all my info. Contact dell.

IF kills laptop another disk hard-is there a chance of the motherboard is defective?

Things that I've tried - defragment the disk, I even check and repair sectors... found nothing.

    Any help would be appreciated...

thought about upgrading to an ssd, but I really want to do, if the motherboard is to kill hard drives?

    Thanks for reading

Here I am again, a bit frustrated... Has achieved a good response when I posted... but nothing else after that... Different response of old Story/Issue...same... (((I thought of it out on mine)))

Don't know if that's the right answer, but I thought that if there was someone out there with the same problem, it might give you some answers.

After reading and Goggling... I found a few different answers... "My favorite, but NOT CORRECT"... Your drive is dying, you must back up all the files and save them to an external disk, before it fails... where there is a click or a bad sector... it will multiply and more.

Of course, there is a simple answer from someone who knows nothing about the hard drive. But incorrect. Especially if you do not experience problems or blue screens.

A hard click or clunk, may be two different things. Non of them pointing to a player out. Depending on the player, it could be a bad sector. It could be one of 2 things, "THERMAL CALIBRATION ROUTINES", or it could be "ADVANCE DRIVE PROTECTION".

I don't understand how an any of them work, but a quick Google search should provide you with answers.

On my drive a simple defrag helped. Now I hear the noise, every once and awhile. Sometimes I don't hear it at all in a session. You are not sure if it was a coincidence? But I feel much better knowing what to do.

Thanks for reading my question and post

I'm really skeptical if you can launch the second partition Toshiba ghost image files without using the Symantec Norton Ghost software.

I created a ghost of the C partition image and placed on the D partition.
Recover the C partition to start the utility of Ghost and having to use the file D partition .gho image

  • Satellite L40: How can I recover the files from the hard drive

    Hello

Can someone help me please. About a week ago I started to have a clicking sound coming from my laptop Satellite L40. My laptop froze and when I restarted, I was directed to the system configuration with a message at the bottom saying
"Pri Master Hard Disk Drive SMART status bad, Backup and replace."
    Press F2 to assume. »

I pressed F2, but I don't have any idea what to do?

Can someone tell me how do I backup my files until my HDD disappeared completely or if it was can I use another device to get down them.

I tried using the recovery disk, but the disk does not respond?

    Help, please

    Pete

    Hello

This message looks like a warning of S.M.A.R.T. notification
This means that your HARD disk will eventually fail.
It can happen in the next few days or it can't happen for a few months but the SMART feature has detected that the drive is wrong then it should be replaced as soon as possible.
It seems that your laptop is not very old, so the warranty should cover all replacements.

I see only one way to access and back up the data. Eventually, you could buy an external enclosure SATA USB HARD drive and was able to connect the HARD drive to another computer.
I don't know if you will be able to access the HARD drive because of the failure, but if you want you can try this m.

    Good luck
