14 - d056tu laptop HP: Downgrade to Windows 7

I bought HP 14-d056tu Notebook PC a few months back, I'm not comfortable with windows 8.1, so I want it downgrade to Windows 7. The more sad about this is, I bought this laptop based Thailand on a site online in India and now moved to Australia. can anyone help me please with the decommissioning process.

Hi Vishal,

I would like to start by saying Downgrade to Windows 7 would not be a good option, because once you switch to Windows 7, find the drivers for Windows 7 will be a huge and difficult task as this laptop goes with 8.1 Windows only.

And Windows 8.1 is a very good and secure OS. To remedy this I suggest you to install software that will host the feel of Windows 7.

See the link below to install classic Shell software:

the classic interface software

Before you change or change anything, please create your personal HP recovery media.

You'll need a new copy of Windows 7 64-bit with a Microsoft COA and a figure of 25 unused/valid key PID from Microsoft. Windows 7 DVD may not work properly on UEFI-based systems, this is why you may need to create a FAT32 UEFI USB Windows 7 for Windows 7 installation key to install correctly.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer may ask that you confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

After installing Windows 7, you will need to install any drivers necessary before being fully functional. Most of the Windows 7 drivers on the page of software and the driver HP Pavilion Notebook-15z ab000 CTO - should work on your computer. Please do not use any BIOS or Firmware from this page.

Thanks for posting (text only) Windows Device Manager "Hardware ID" for all the remaining of the missing and/or unknown devices, as shown in the example below, and we can direct you to the correct drivers.

  • Downgrade from Windows 8.1 to windows 7 on a HP ENVY 15 laptop

    Hello

I recently bought this laptop and it comes preinstalled with windows 8.1 and I wanted to know if I could downgrade to windows 7, if yes how. I'm totally foreign to the way I would go to do.

I gave to windows 8 a chance and I can just get used to it, it seems it would be much better suited for a pc equipped with a touchscreen (which mine does not).

If anyone knows, pleae let me know.

    Thank you!

    Hello

You can move applications on the desktop and you can lock all the apps freq in the taskbar. If you want to access other applications, Start (sorry no click, just as you must not click) and all programs (programs and features, now) come out on top. After 2 days, you will get the usefulness. I have two other icons for stopping and restarting.

    Kind regards.

My question is this: can I I downgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Yes you can downgrade to Windows 8, but you need to install a reticular version of Windows 8 you have to purchase from Microsoft. Before the downgrade to Windows 8 make you you create a set of recovery disk for your system.

Not sure why it does not work. I don't think it matters if you run W8.1 or W8.1 Pro on your machine.

    The drivers are the same.

  • Downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows Vista

    Hello

I want to ask something about the downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows Vista Edition Home Premium!

My laptop is Satellite L510. When I bought it, it came with Windows Vista Home Premium as its OS so I already created a recovery disk.
Now, if I update to Windows 7 and if I want to downgrade to window Vista... often I just use this recovery disc to format to Windows Vista everything as before?

Because they do not have the Windows Vista installation disk when I bought this laptop.
And I want to ask now the window Vista already got a healthy recovery partition in my right HDdrive? If I update to Windows 7 then did the Window Vista healthy recovery partition is still there, or only the restore disc that I create before you reformat Windows Vista Home Premium box?

Thanks to all who try to answer my question!

All new laptops are shipped without DVD upgraders and everyone must create one. This is why Toshiba has designed small Creator called Toshiba Recovery tool. With this tool you can create recovery DVDs and use them for the installation of the OS more far.

Whenever when you use, you'll have to factory settings and it will be like on the first day when launch you for the first time.

When you have this recovery media, you can do whatever you want and, of course, install Win7 with HARD drive. One day, when you want to have Vista again just use created recovery DVD and you will have factory again.

When you bought your laptop recovery image was recorded on the second partition of HARD drive in the folder called HDDRecovery. This image can be used to install Vista with the factory only settings. When you install Win7 these files can no longer be used and Vista must be installed from recovery created DVDs.

I just branch a refurbished HP 15-AB044SA comes with preinstalled Windows 8.1. I'm not a fan of the operating system and want to downgrade to windows 7. Could you please guide me to the decommissioning?

And I have the same funcitionality in the laptop running Windows 7 as Windows 8.1? Is it possible to keep the same license OS currently on the laptop?

If the reason why you don't like Win8x is the lack of a desktop and start menu, consider downloading and installing ClassicShell.  This will give the look-and-feel of Win7 back - and it's FREE!

As for Win7, there are drivers HP to Win7 for your PC: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/7771366/model/8255011

If this page does not display Win7 when you open it, then click on edit and select Windows 7 from the menu drop down.

As for the feature, Yes, you will have the same functionality in Win7 you have in Win8x - just a different user interface.

There is no 'path of decommissioning' to Win7. Instead, you'd have to do is to boot from Win7 installation media and install it on top of Win8.  This means that you will lose all existing applications, the parameters and the data of the user in the process.

NO, we do not keep or use the same license.  Your PC came with HP OEM Win8 preinstalled, and that's what the license is for.  To install Win7, you will need to buy it and then activate it by using the product key that you receive with the purchase.  You can't buy this at HP, because he's not selling copies of Win7.

But what you CAN do is to check with the HP customer service and see if they will sell you HP to Win7 for your PC recovery media.  It would cost much less go out and buy a copy of Win7 retail.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p100dx downgrade from windows 7

Hi, Im Colt and I recently bought a HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p100dx and it came with windows 8.1 I use windows 7 at work and at present cannot install my Flash drive because of the way the drive is partioned to 8.1 will need drivers for windows 7 for this motherboard and chipset.  And need to know how to get to startup command propt before entering Windows I think.  Can someone please.  Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I just bought this laptop and downgraded it to win7.

1st thing you need to do is boot to the BIOS (f10)

In the bios, you must turn on then save (f10)

Start (f9) to the Startup menu.

Select (usb or dvd) boot device

Custom, install and remove all partitions

    Then install win7

Too far than go to drivers, it took me a lot of research to find each other.

I now have a backup of all drivers if you need.

I am currently going through the process of making all the windows updates.

I'll post a link later when I get home for drivers

Win7 works a lot on this laptop.

  • Downgrade to Windows XP

I already watched this number on your knowledge base, so please don't point me to that.  Looks like a downgrade to Windows XP is not provided for users of Windows 7 Home Premium.  Why not??

I bought a Toshiba laptop in January 2010 with Windows 7 preinstalled.  I would like Microsoft either solve problems caused the update 30 April with my NEW laptop computer so that it works again correctly, OR I would like Microsoft to provide me with a free Windows XP download so that I can have a stable operating system.  I used Windows XP on my last laptop and never had any problems with it.  I need a STABLE, RELIABLE operating system.

  • Can I downgrade to windows 7 to 8.1

I have a HP Pavilion notebook 15-n083sa and I have some problems to connect to man through a program called hamachi, I've done everything on this laptop (with windows 8.1 on) and nothing works. Then I tried to plug it into my other laptop with windows 7 and I could easily connect. I was wondering, can I downgrade from windows 8.1 for windows 7.

    Thanks in advance

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a consumer computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

You can buy a copy of Windows 7 with a certificate of authenticity and a valid product key of Windows 7. You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and perhaps ENABLE 'Legacy Support' in the 'Configuration of the BIOS start-up secured' on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

    or

Also, as the hard drive is probably partitioned as TPG, you must start the computer by using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - USB Flash drive" options in the boot menu "F9". If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive", "UEFI - USB Flash drive" or something to that effect does not exist in the start menu, please post a screenshot and/or make startup listed options.

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

Please report to the Windows Device Manager "Hardware ID" for all devices missing or unknown, as shown in the example below.

  • HP1000-1318TU recovery trouble after trying to downgrade from windows 8 for windows 7

Hi, I'm currently facing serious trouble now... I was downgrade to windows 8 for windows 7...

laptop format was completely understand the recovery partition... it is now TOTALLY EMPTY...

the main point is, I lost my disc of recovery for the laptop!

NO RECOVERY DISK, NO RECOVERY PARTITION! Oh my god...

is there a way to install the OS in this laptop now?

    Hello:

Using a good installation disc known to W7?

Normally, this error means that you have corrupted/damaged installation media.

See if it works to install W7...

Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed - 32 or 64 bit depending on the case).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&keyword=Intel+RAPI...

Extract the files on a usb flash drive.

With the flash player and the installation of W7 media connected to the computer, boot from the installation of W7 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and see if W7 install like this.

  • HP ENVY 15-J104SL - DOWNGRADE TO WINDOWS 7

I am a system integrator and therefore a very expert user.

I bought a notebook HP Envy 15-104SL. This NB have 8 pre-installed Windows.

I have a lot of planning application that will work with Windows 8 so I have to downgrade to Windows 7

I've read thousands of messages, but I can't solve my problem:

I put the BIOS with Secure Boot disabled AND Legacy Support active

I tried to install Windows 7 with a DVD 64 bit OEM licenze, but the installer doesn't recognize any hard disk intalled.

Also, I downloaded driver from intel smart technology and I have customized a DVD with this driver, but the answer is the same. No disc found

How can I make the downgrade? Can I install an other bios more advanced?

I have to prepare the DVD with another technique?

    Thanks for the replies

    You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

The laptop can not read the flash drive is because there is no USB 2 port and until it is installed in the USB3 ports are pretty useless.

Is there a BIOS setting to allow the USB3 ports act as ports "legacy"?
