15 - af156sa (energy star): 15-af156sa (ENERGY STAR) will not start correctly or start System Recovery Manager

Recently my hardrive has failed on my computer hp laptop, I return it to the store still under warranty and they send to repair by how.

I return the laptop yesterday and some paperwork saying the hardrive was replaced, the laptop already worked when it arrived and I had right to use it for about an hour before it crashed (windows screen 10 to meet a problem and the device need to reboot)

When the unit restarted, he was blocked indefinitely on the hp loading screen (nothing other than the hp logo and the white rotating circle) and so I turned it off after a certain time, removed the battery and held the power button to drain everything left power and tried again.  This time, I got the hp logo and the text of 'attempt to auto repair' but after 10 seconds or so, it goes to a black screen and nothing happens.

I decided to try to restore the factory settings, I turn on the unit then turn it back you press f11 to start Recovery Manager, the text appears in the lower left corner to say that the unit had registered that I was pressing the button but then the screen goes black and nothing happens again. I started then in the BIOS menu and reset all settings by default and tried once more, but nothing happened once more.

a last attempt and I decided to perform a test of the extensive system, the device failed in the short DST test of hard disk with ID UC097X-83D89R-XD7WLK-60R003 failure

IM really hoping there is a simple solution and that I don't need a new another hardrive or possibly a new laptop.

Any help would be much appreciated

I would take it back to the people who have tried to fix it. The error message means that you have a bad hard drive. I wonder if they actually replaced your old.

  • Satellite P30: Energy saving does not work correctly

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite P30 (with Windows XP) and I have problems with my energy saving mode. When I use it for games and other applications of high power, it gets really hot on the edge of the moitor and stops.

Is it for the last month or two. Before that, it was absolutelly no problem. I checked the file TPSTrace and got this error message:
A fatal error has occurred. The program will end. Code: 0x0 rental: MainFrm.cpp (1317)

I do not know what to do with it and how to solve the problem. Any ideas?

    Hi Thomas

It is not easy to give you an accurate diagnosis, but in my opinion your laptop isn't hot because of the energy savings. Satellite P30 is pretty old laptop and maybe you should clean your laptop.

    Have you done this before?

This error seems to be serious and what you can do is to remove the preinstalled energy saver and after restarting try installing it again.

Just FYI: Watch tool is very useful, but certainly not so important and your system can function very well without it. Because of this, I presume that portable hot is because of dust inside. With more CPU and activity hardware graphics card will be hot and must be cooled properly. If the cooling rack does not clean this cannot happen. Initially, notebook will be hot, but one day she is probably turned off without any warning.

In the first trial step to clean your laptop and remove all the dust under cooling grill.

    Hello

Generally, the battery is designed for approximately 500 procedures of load.
You issue sounds like broken or defective battery.
It s a normal question who, after a long work time of battery doesn t working properly and it of necessary to replace.
I also recommend to remove the battery for the work with the AC adapter. In this case your increase in battery working time (life)

  • ENERGY SAVING does not work! Satellite A105

Please read very carefully, as I tried to make it as detailed as possible. I had this problem before, and when I installed the new BIOS driver, it fixed itself. I'm not so lucky this time. Also, please AVOID recommending to use my recovery CD, because I know, it is possible to solve this problem without it, and the restore CD is the easy/practical answer on how to solve this problem.

OK, so I just installed the new BIOS software, and now my TOSHIBA Power Saver won't work. I use a Satellite A105-S4284 on Windows XP SP2. When I start the computer, I get this message:

    TPSODDCtl.exe - Ordinal not found
The 21 ordinal not found in dynamic link TPSMainCtl.dll library.
    Ok

I know that this refers to the power of Eve, but I don't know what to do about this.

In addition, I searched other forums on this issue. When I open the control panel and switch to Classic view, TOSHIBA Power Saver icon is there. I double click on it, and I get this message:

Cannot open, as "TOSHIBA Power Saver" is not running.
In order to run it, please open "Power Options" in the Control Panel, then choose "TOSHIBA Power Saver" in the list box "Power schemes" on Page "power schemes".
    Ok

I open power options, and toshiba power sleep mode is already selected. I tried to apply another and switching back, but this did not help.

I tried to reinstall both the power of Eve AND the common modules on the site of TOSHIBA drivers, and which did not help. I tried to uninstall the energy saver all together, and I get this error message:

Cannot locate the Setup log 'C:\Program Toshiba Saver\uninst.isu. Uninstallation will not continue.

I opened the saving folder in the location above, and there are two files: TPSTrace (a plain text file) and TPwrSetup. $$$ (Note: the ' $' are not mistakes, that's what he said). The plain text file contains this message:

A fatal error has occurred. The program will end. Code: 0x45A location: TPSDel.cpp (230)

Help, please! Thanks in advance for all time!

Looks like something in your system is really messed up. Because you won´t be advised to recover your machine, so I can't give you any suspicion because that would REALLY be the one and the only option to solve this problem.

If some software Toshiba uninstall NOT etc then it won´t repair itself, or it can be sorted out by re-installled or force too install apps...
Maybe you make you a few remarks and then save your files in order to recover your machine?

Would be the best method. Otherwise: good luck!

  • Keyboard shortcut for Star does not - arrows

I need to use the star shape to make a sort of badge with a lot of points.

In the past, I used the form of Star and held arrow top or down arrow to change the number of points on the star. It does more for me in Adobe Illustrator CS4 (on a Windows Vista). This shortcut has changed? All my other keyboard shortcuts work. I tried to reset the Illustrator preferences file, just in case, but it didn't fix it.

I'm afraid so. The arrow keys do not work with the stars, corners rounded, spiral, etc. in combination with a Wacom, you must use the dialog box or of a conventional mouse. Annoying bug that neither company accepts blame.

  • Since worm 36 and perhaps earlier, I have bookmarks under the stars, but not when I ask to show all bookmarks

by clicking on the bookmarks on the home page gives me my favorites
I have bookmarks under recently and unsorted bookmarks. I can move from these categories to the master list without problem.
When I click on show all bookmarks that I get none. He goes to this screen but shows no Favorites.
I would use these bookmarks on another computer, but also change in show all.

second problem, my norton toolbar does not load and has not since worm 36

When you click View all bookmarks to launch the dialog box library, normally, you see three categories listed on the right side. If you double-click in any of the categories, you will find actual bookmark listed there or empty each category?

To transfer bookmarks in Firefox on another computer, there are two different file formats. I suggest to create two in case one does not work:

Symantec is usually very quick with updates to date, but it might be a little early for 40 of Firefox (beta version). There is a release supporting 39 Firefox: https://community.norton.com/en/blogs.../firefox-39-support-norton-toolbar. Users report that you sometimes have to run LiveUpdate several times to get the last toolbar into Firefox.

If you had accidentally on the way to the beta and prefer to have the support of Norton toolbar in good time, you can install the retail version (39 Firefox) and it should work seamlessly with your existing settings.

It wouldn't hurt to do a backup first. You can find suggestions in this article: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

    Then do the restore:

    Clean reinstall it

We use this name, but it isn't about deleting your settings, this is to ensure that the program, files are clean (not incompatible, corrupt or exotic code files). As described below, this process does not disrupt your existing settings. Don't uninstall NOT Firefox, that does not need.

    (1) download a fresh Installer for Firefox 39.0 of https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ in an ideal location. (Scroll down your preferred language).

    (2) close Firefox (if applicable).

    (3) to rename the program folder, either:

    (Windows 64-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox

    (Windows 32-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files\OldFirefox

    (4) run the installer you downloaded in the #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

You can get to the Options page?

Note: Some plugins can only exist in this OldFirefox file. If it is missing something essential, present in these files:

    • \OldFirefox\Plugins
    • \OldFirefox\browser\plugins

    Hello

There must be something wrong with the Windows operating system. The registry entries bad or something like that. I would recommend using the Win XP System Restore tool.
You can restore the operating system to the beginning.
    This should work.

  • Energy function does not work properly (SP6100)

    Hi all

last week, I have big problems with my laptop. On my laptop, I have three different systems of windows on different partitions 3 installed. On all systems, my laptop says i have to change the battery imediadly. But: I don't have my battery in my notebook. I'm still working with my adapter sector.

The problem is that my laptop shoes the battery status in the taskbar and the notebook is changing in the mode "styndby" after a minute, when I does not work with it.

These symthomes are on all my three systems, so I think, there must be a hardware defect.

I can't lokate the defect. Everyone has an idea how to solve this problem?

    Thanks for your help

    Greetings from Bremen/Germany
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

As Tom says rightly, you should be able to prevent your laptop goes into stand-by by changing the characteristics of the power management system.

I believe that your laptop can be intermittent pause in his diet that is causing the power system to believe that it is running on battery power when it is actually on the current. Make sure that the power connector is firmly committed to place on your laptop.

Normally, when this happens, you will need to turn off your laptop and then restart it to restore the normal AC power management.

I suspect you're going to stand by as the Toshiba Power, utility allows you to define different characteristics for the battery and AC modes. As Tom says rightly, you can change the battery settings to prevent your laptop go in mode sleep.

  • Touchpad and energy savings does not-Satellite A350

    I installed Windows 7 64 on my laptop Toshiba A350 - 13 c.
During installation, I used the USB mouse. After installation I noticed that the touchpad is not working. I have downloaded the driver Synaptics for W7 toshiba download site, but it did not help. Then I downloaded the original Synaptics driver from their site, but it didn't help also. In Device Manager it is dev Touchpad pointing and it looks like I'm going to work very well. The indicates even me that synaptics tray agent. However, when I click on its icon - > Accessories-> graph of pressure (or similar name - I translated it in my lang), it returns an error message: Sorry, this program requires Synaptics TouchPad device and Synaptics pointing driver. What is going on?

I also downloaded Toshiba Value added for W7 and installed Package. HoweverPower Saver does not work (I reinstalled PVAT but he fixed nothing). On the start menu, there is no shortcut to ch, as there are shortcuts to other applications of added value package. PS the service seems to work but main program does not work when I double click on it in files\Tosh program... folder.
What is more, I got 3 unknown devices in dev Manager. I don't know what it is because all of the dev team. (except the touchpad) works very well. I also installed Intel chipset drv., Realtek HD Audio, Intel, Ati storage chart drv. but it did not help.
I guess that these 3 unknown devices can really be a device actually, because all are: primary system on bus PCI 32 device.

    Help, please.

    > I downloaded driver Synaptics for W7 toshiba download site, but it did not help
Can you please tell me where you found the Synaptics driver on Toshiba Satellite A350-13 c download page
I can t see this driver on the list.

I don't know that laptop, you used before, but since Vista Power Saver is a little different and you don't find it in the start menu, but in advanced power options.
I can't tell you much because I know not what drivers you have installed and that are lacking on the unknown devices. Just install all of them.
