15 - j078ca touch screen click on spam problem

I'm having a problem with the touch screen on my 15-j078ca. I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a software/driver problem.

What is essentially:

1. I have the laptop running.

2. I would like to disconnect the laptop.

3. I was closing the lid (the value of doing nothing)

4 look for my laptop and market in another room.

5. open up the lid of the laptop and the touch screen would constantly spam clicks on the left side of the screen.

I have to put my laptop to sleep, then wake up back for clicks to stop. It is a minor inconvience but I feel frustrated that I can't continue my work if I go with the laptop.

Are there any suggestions to solve this, or is this a manufacturing defect?

Hello BlueMinnow,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I understand that your computer screen click randomly on the left side. I'll do what I can to provide information on this.

Without adequate testing, it is almost impossible to know whether or not the issue is related to hardware or software. There is a very simple test to say: reinstall the operating system. If you reinstall Windows and the remains of the question, the hardware is defective. If reinstalling Windows solves the problem, it was a software conflict. This HP document allows you to find more information on how to reinstall Windows: How to run an HP system recovery

This is the best advice I can give you for now. Please try that and get back to me with the results. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

    64-bit Windows 8
    Product number: E9G80UA

    I recently bought about 4 months ago and it's great for a little while. But recently he would make this annoying glitch. The screen would act as if I'm pressing the screen somewhere in the middle of it and selecting whatever it is within its range. This may seem not so bad by the sounds of it, but if you play a video or a website with links in this area it will click on a link or stop/play videos. It is very annoying!

    Troubleshooting: at first I thought that it would be my touchpad, so I made sure that I didn't to it during these periods. But it would still do so even if I'm not in contact with the laptop. So if I use only my wireless mouse to go through Web pages or anything else, he would still do the ghost by clicking.

    I thought then that maybe it's my wireless mouse, so I unplugged the laptop USB receiver and he always does.

    Then I tried to get online with HP technical support and they checked my computer and tried a few things like remove the driver of the touchpad and so on without any results. He finally told me that I have to send it to them for repair (still in warranty). However, I have not the time to send my phone to them for repairs.

    My last thought was to turn off the touch screen. What I did by going to Device Manager and by disabling one of the HIDDEN options. I've had several, so I had to try each of them since none were marked as the touch screen, but only as a HID device. It has worked so far and he has not clicked anywhere yet.

    My question is, is anyone know what I need to do to correct the problem? I thought to update the driver, but I can't find it on the HP site and when I try to update the driver through Device Manager it says he has the best driver available, which most of the time is BS. I guess I just need to know where I can find the right driver for the touch screen.

    Hi Spoon1901,

    Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your computer laptop 17-j017cl TouchSmart from HP ENVY and your touch screen, here's a link to a update the system BIOS. It will help improve the screen problems.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    What driver Toshiba control the touch screen?
    Is it a hardware problem or software?

    Hello

    To be honest there is no special driver to control the touch screen.
    The driver is provided by the Windows System.

    I think you should get the laptop back to factory settings but I fear that this will not solve the problem of Mr. smells like a hardware problem because I found some threads here in this forum about the dysfunction of the touch screen and especially the problem could be solved by service agents.

    By the way: before you run the recovery process try to configure the stylus and touch screen.
    Go to the control panel (Windows key + X-> Control Panel)-> Tablet PC setting.
    The first display tab contains options such as configure screen stylus and touchscreen.
    Here, you should be able to start the installation program and identify the touchscreen.
    The first option must contain 1 internal LCD
    At the bottom, you might find button to calibrate and reset the settings for the internal LCD.

  • X 1 carbon Gen3 touch screen camera does not

    Hello

    As in the description, I have the 3rd generation X carbon 1 with a touch screen. I have problems my camera integrated into the work. I think that I remember when I got to my laptop, but I haven't used in a while. Yestrday, I googled Hangouts to try and use the camera again, but it did not work. I continued to look for his start-up. I tried to download the latest drivers (who would never complete installation because it could not find the device). I deleted my antivirus. I disabled my ad blocker on my Chrome. Rebooted my laptop several times. I did a bunch of stuff, but nothing seemed to work. I went in the program of camera integrated by default on my laptop and it shows just a camera with an X through it, it seems that my laptop is not plugged properly or something. A way to fix it? It is a tiny little problem that I can fix it with, or is it a bigger problem at hand? Or... I'm just delusional? I never had a built-in camera?

    Open settings of Lenovo from there, you can control your camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and much more ensure under camera that the security mode is not enabled, if it is then it will not be sent the images from the camera turn off so he can send photo again since that one thing security when you use not the camera to prevent hackers / intruder to misappropriation of your camera to see what you at home so they can penetrate when nobody is home to steal things.

    If that does not fix it reboot the bios then find section i/o in the bios and make sure integrated device said he [Enabled] and not [Disabled] if there disabled that also areason why it won't work.

  • XPS One 27 with Pro Pack touch screen problem

    I just bought a 27 XPS especially to run Windows Media Center. The touch screen was working fine.  I then bought and installed Windows Pro 8.1 pack and WMC works beautifully. The problem is that all of a sudden the touch feature of the computer is gone. Completely gone.  I ran the diagnostics of the touch screen and it does not even recognize the computer as having a touch screen. Maybe that's a problem with the Pro pack?  Or something else?  I spent about 2 hours with Dell support and vain.  I am at a loss on how to proceed--I hope someone has a suggestion.

  • 9800 torch Touch Screen and Trackpad problem

    Our application adds buttons only on devices that support the touch screen.

    The reason why we do this is because if you have a selected item in a list field and press the getSelectedIndex returns the correct index on a touchscreen.

    Add this button on a trackpad/trackball device would not work properly because you can't the selected list box item and then click the button. You need to scroll this button first, the getSelectedIndex in this case would be the first clue or the last index according to the place where the button.

    If anyone has a solution or suggestions please post. I'll also post updates and a solution if I find one.

    We had the same problem when we added a toolbar style touch the foot of some screens that contains a list field.

    Our solution: vertical movement of pointer changes the selection of the list, while the horizontal movement jumps down to the toolbar, but leave the current selection in the list where it is.

    May not work for your particular application, but seems to be accepted in our.

  • BitmapField on the touch screen problem

    Hello

    I have a simple form with two fields of bitmap and I want to take the events of button CLICK on each field. But the problem is that my program behaves like I always click on the first button even if I click on the other.

    How can I solve this, what someone has any ideas?

    The code is below. Thank you...

    public final class TouchEventInjectorScreen extends MainScreen {
        private LabelField labelField;
        private BitmapField button1;
        private BitmapField button2;

        public TouchEventInjectorScreen() {

            setTitle("Touch Demo");

            labelField = new LabelField("");
            add(labelField);
            button1 = new BitmapField(Bitmap.getBitmapResource("1.png"),BitmapField.FOCUSABLE){
                protected void onFocus(int direction) {

                    super.onFocus(direction);
                }
                protected boolean touchEvent(TouchEvent message) {
                    if(message.getEvent() == TouchEvent.CLICK){

                        System.out.println("1");
                    }
                    return true;
                }
            };
            button2 = new BitmapField(Bitmap.getBitmapResource("2.png"),BitmapField.FOCUSABLE){
                protected void onFocus(int direction) {

                    super.onFocus(direction);
                }

                protected boolean touchEvent(TouchEvent message) {
                    if(message.getEvent() == TouchEvent.CLICK){

                        System.out.println("2");
                    }
                    return true;
                }
            };
            HorizontalFieldManager h1 = new HorizontalFieldManager();
            h1.add(button1);
            add(h1);
            add(new LabelField(""));
            HorizontalFieldManager h2 = new HorizontalFieldManager();
            h2.add(button2);
            add(h2);

        }

    }

    When I shot the screen always 1 is printed in the system.out

    If you try to manage the events button on the two fields that have defined the style as focusable, then there are two ways to handle them.

    1. management of the key by its parent event. Is to say, add 2 focusable components Manager then manage the key event in the Manager himself. Here is the code snippet

    class MyManager extends VerticalFieldManager
    {
    protected boolean touchEvent (TouchEvent message)
    {
    switch (message.getEvent ())
    {
    case TouchEvent.CLICK:
    int x = message.getX (1);
    int y = message.getY (1);
    int index = getFieldAtLocation (x, y);
    Field field = getField (index);
    System.out.println ("field->" + index);
    field.setFocus ();
    break;
    }
    Returns true;
    }
    }

    class touch screen extends screen
    {
    Private button1 As BitmapField;
    private BitmapField button2;

    public TouchScreen()
    {
    Button1 = new BitmapField (Bitmap.getBitmapResource ("1.png"), BitmapField.FOCUSABLE);
    Button2 = new BitmapField (Bitmap.getBitmapResource ("2.png"), BitmapField.FOCUSABLE);
    Manager of MyManager = new MyManager();
    Manager.Add (button1);
    Manager.Add (button2);
    Add (Director);
    }
    }

    2. This step is to manage the key event at the level of the component itself. In this case, you must first make sure that this place where we clicked on belongs to the targeted component. because the targeted component key event will be called first by default. This is possible by getting the x, the position and the region where we clicked and check if it is located in the region of this element, otherwise returns false, the event goes to the next component. If the x position is located in the region of a component, handle touch event in this case.

    Here is the code snippet

    class MyBitmapField extends BitmapField
    {
    protected boolean touchEvent (TouchEvent message)
    {
    switch (message.getEvent ())
    {
    case TouchEvent.CLICK:
    If (message.getY (1))<>
    Returns false;
    If (message.getY (1) > getHeight())
    Returns false;
    If (message.getX (1))<>
    Returns false;
    If (message.getX (1) > getWidth())
    Returns false;

    you code here
    break;
    }
    Returns true;
    }
    }

  • Problem of touch screen when inserting/adding of managers

    Hello

    I'm developing a folding list of items. There are several collections that show a list by clicking on it (one gets VerticalFieldManager inserted right after the collection title element and the previous is removed). The problem is, after insertion of the Manager of the touch screen does not seem to catch all events more on the lower part (part of the lower the size of the inserted Manager) of the screen. I am also not able to scroll to the bottom of the list, because the screen interrupts the size of the Manager. (if I slowly drag the screen, it shows the next title in the collection, but when I release him he jumps off the screen).

    It works fine when you use the button scroll wheel/navigation, what it's called.

    After the screen has been tilted, put forward or back, it seems to set. I disabled call then on the screen whenever I insert a new Manager.

    I use a simple VerticalFieldManager inserted on the screen. The style of screen settings are USE_ALL_HEIGHT | FullScreen.VERTICAL_SCROLL.

    It seems that the screen is not recalculate the size of the screen correctly after inserting the Manager.

    I partially managed to solve the problem with a 15000 NullField focusable pixel high, but this causes the screen scroll down in a vacuum.

    It was a little hard to explain, so I hope that you understand the fundamental problem.

    I looked for a solution to work for this for quite a while with no luck.

    Dejan

    EDIT: I missed the forum after reading another post, I thought that I'm in the developers forum. I apologize. Someone can it go there? Thank you!

    CEOPS says:

    ...

    Try to call instead of invalidate() updateLayout()

  • Problems with laptop Asus V550CA touch screen.

    I was in a big enough storm at home tonight, there wasn't really any shelter or anything either so I had to make a run for it. I've had my laptop in my bag, it was in mode 'sleep'. When I got home and opened it, I noticed that the water was able to pass through many layers of my bag and really got on my laptop screen. I quickly turned off and wiped, tried to dry as well. When I turned it back on, everything seemed fine, except that the touchscreen stopped working. Everything was working fine, until I realized that a framework had been changed. The parameter "Show content when you drag Windows" or other similar term. It's easily fixable, but when I fix it, it would simply reset after that I restarted my pc. I did a complete refresh of windows 8 to see if it was a software problem and the entire window by dragging the fixed thing itself but the touch screen is always a step to go. So basically my question is can the water stop my touch screen to work and if so how can I do to fix it, if it is still repairable.

    UPDATE: after the installation of windows updates, the error of the creation of 'Show' the window contents while dragging is happening again. Himself comes back every time.

    UPDATE 2: it turns out that it is ASUS InstantOn causing the setting to zero. Got that fixed, now it's just the touch screen problem.

    UPDATE 3 (I know, it's out of hand...): it turns out that this question is in fact quite common with this laptop. Others have the same problem I did and in addition receive the same message from the convenience store. It says hardware not detected and offers no solution. He says just this update of windows is not installing drivers for it because it has been configured this way... Somehow I was able to get this driver somewhere? been searching and I cant find it.

    Thanks in advance

    Ryan.

    Hi Ryan,

    I want to try a few methods to solve the problem:

    Method 1: Activate the touch screen features.

    (a) press the Windows key + R.
    (b) click on Panel.
    c) go to material and audio.
    (d) click on Pen and touch.
    (e) click the touch tab.
    (f) allow to use your finger as an input.

    You can check the following links for more information:

    (a) touch: stroke, tap and beyond:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/touch-swipe-tap-beyond

    (b) touch and pen settings: frequently asked questions:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/touch-pen-settings-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2: Run utility troubleshooting hardware and devices:

    (a) press Windows key + R, type Panel.
    (b) the type of Troubleshooting in the search bar, click Troubleshooting.
    (c) click on hardware and sound, click on material and devices.
    (d) follow the steps in the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

    After trying all of the above steps and if still the problem persists, then I suggest you to contact Asus support to check if the problem is with the hardware.

    Post us the results after trying the steps above.

  • Samsung series 5 ultra touch screen tactile intermittent problems

    Hello

    Windows 8 is already installed when I bought the computer. Now sometimes when I boot it the touch screen does not work. The computer seems to think that this isn't a touchscreen, even in the PC info it says that there is no button or a pen. When I restart is always seems to fix the problem and then to the PC info, it says full touch support. I have to restart it almost every time I turn on the touch screen to get.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

    The problem is probably Fast Startsup, faster PC boots, but all drivers do not always load but they will when you restart.

    Disable Quick start, your system will take more time to start, but it should solve your problem of dual-boot.

    Go to control panel > hardware and sound > Power Options, click on choose what the power buttons do, under stop settings, uncheck quick start if there is a check mark in it.  When you perform a cold start it will slow down the startup and touchscreen should take effect, but as I said, the start-up will take a little longer.
