1st generation ipod touch is stuck

I have a 1st generation ipod nano. Holi button is stuck waiting and I can't use the ipod controls. I have a dock that I use on but don't have a charger for it, so I don't know if I can access the computer.

The Hold switch may have become defective.  See if you can do this procedure to Reset (reboot) iPod (data are not erased)

Learn how to reset your iPod - Apple Support  (see iPod with a click wheel)

If this doesn't help, you need a USB docking cable to connect it to the computer, to access with iTunes and attempt a restore.

NOTE: If this iPod nano is really 1st gen, it can be considered for this

  • My 1st generation iPod touch can not save on my iMac El Capitan but can to my MacBook Snow Leopard ' 08. Why the iMac think that the backup is corrupt?

Of course, I'm using my iMac El Capitan, but when I bought the music today and went to add to my iPod touch iTunes ended up freezing. Long story short, I could delete the files from the iPod but can not add one; Adding a single song led to suspended iTunes and the cancellation of the synchronization via the iPod of course makes no difference.

After going through all the rigamarole any attempt to delete all backups for iPod, both through preferences and in/Library/Application Support / MobileSync / Backup, I always had the same problem. I can't add music on my iPod via the iMac, nor can I save it there. Yes, I rebooted.

And so, after many tears, I pulled out my MacBook ' 08, who narrowly missed the cut for El Capitan and so still has Snow Leopard. And now my iPod backed up very well! (I cursed myself for not to copy previous backup before it was replaced, but hey.) They are all under the same Apple ID, so at this point, I'm simply redownloading all of my new purchases on the ol' MacBook ' so I can add it to the iPod... but how long this will be a viable solution? (I realize using products Apple since 2008 is an affront, but you've got to do what you do I do, and I don't currently have pocket for 32 GB change.)

So the question. Is there an incompatibility of software between my 1st generation iPod touch (3.1.3) and my iMac (El Capitan with iTunes 12.3.2.35 10.11.3)? Is there really a degree of corruption here than Snow Leopard with iTunes 10.6.8 11.4 (18) does not recognize?

TL; Dr: I can do my iPod touch backup of my iMac?

(My apologies for what is the format, I still haven't managed to brevity, and these a few hours researching in it made me frustrated).

Edit: I forgot to mention that I tried to copy on the backup freshly prepared from the MacBook on the iMac and received the same exact error message.

  • Google won't let older generation iPod Touch connect to iTunes

My father just bought a new iMac as recommended by my brother and me.

He has an older iPod Touch which is limited to run only the e/s 6. Google will not let him connect to iTunes without losing the warranty on his new computer.  It took us hours with Google to solve this problem to restore his computer his original warranties. I also have the same older generation iPod Touch but have not tried to connect to iTunes over the years. It has 32 M music and nothing else.

If there is no solution to this problem, can I connect a new iPod Touch (Christmas gift) to his old iPod Touch with a USB female to female USB with the 30 pin in the old unit connector and the connector of the lightning in its new unit? Direct transfer of old data to the new unit?

    Thanks for any help.

  • Just updated to ios 9 and my ipod touch is stuck at 'update of the iCloud parameters.  I can not restore from iTunes as I have to disable 'find my iPod toch' and cannot do the iPod is blocked with the message to update.  Will not work force a stop down.

Just updated to ios 9.2 (from 8 something) and my ipod touch is stuck at 'update of the iCloud parameters.  I can not restore from iTunes because I have to disable "Find my iPod touch" first of all, and I can't do as the iPod is blocked with the message to update.  Forcing a stop down does not work that for some reason, I am unable to turn off my iPod touch manually.  I tried to turn off my wifi to see if that stops the iPod touch, but he always keeps on the message to iCloud.  Do I just wait until the battery sinks so that it forces a reboot?

Place your iOS device into Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If the recovery mode does not work, try the DFU mode.

    To restore backup see:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support

If you restore from a backup of iCloud apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from backup iTunes, applications and music must be in iTunes since synchronized as music media library and apps are not included in the backup of the iOS device what iTunes does.

You can re-download most of iTunes purchases by:

Download after purchase from the App Store and iTunes Store iBookstore

  • How can I connect my 1Connectez 1st generation iPod (original iPod) to a laptop

I have an original iPod and it has a screen old port how to connect it to a laptop and they don't have these kind of show ports more

Not sure what you mean by "display port"...  The dock connector of the original iPod (2001) is a FireWire port.  You really have an original 1st gen iPod, with a (not key or click) scroll wheel that physically turns a circle?  Looks like this

If so, it can connect to a computer equipped with a FireWire port .  To do this, not to connect to a USB port.  There are "scam" products that claim to be a USB-to-FireWire adapter cable, but they don't work; they can even cause damage to the iPod if used.  FireWire and USB work very differently (and even use different power supply voltages); You cannot connect them just by changing the shape of the connector.

If your computer is a Mac (no FireWire port) with a Thunderbolt port, Apple sells a Thunderbolt-to-FireWire adapter.  On a Windows PC, to connect to the 1st (or 2nd) gen iPod, you add an expansion card of a certain type that provides an actual FireWire interface.  For more details, please provide more information on your situation.

  • 5th generation iPod Touch battery drains in 20 Minutes

HEy, I got my iPod almost 4 years (since Christmas) and in approximately the first year I noticed the battery was not well kept and in 2014 (when I got my iPhone 5 c), I decided to stop using my iPod because the battery lasted about 45 minutes. Since then, I just used my iPod, (todo only occasional updates) and even for that was probably a year ago. Now my iPod battery only lights up when it is cool and it's terrible. I used to overload my iPod when I was younger, without knowing the effects, but I do not see why my battery got worse when I have not used a lot. I don't know what to do with my iPod now, to sell it or what, because it sits on unused buffet. Any ideas on what to do?

There is no way to overcharge the battery, so you don't have to damage it by doing this. But the battery needs to be "exercised" and when you leave the use who killed the battery. You need to replace.

  • iPod Touch 5th generation stuck in recovery mode

I don't see anything on this topic anywhere. However, I "brick" my iPod 5th generation Touch while implementing the update to the 9.2.x the 9.3.1. I held 9.3 as people around me ran into a similar problem with their iPhones, but they were able to recover their phones - just with wiped data.

    My experience:

    1. Received the notice that 9.3.1 was available.
    2. Plug it to my PC and backed up with iTunes.
    3. Downloaded the update via iTunes and begun the process of updating.
    4. Entered my PIN to unlock the device and allow the update.
    5. Update started a few minutes later, I received a notice that it failed and the unit would need to be restored. (Error code was 3014 in my case).
    6. The restoration is only an option "restore and update".

No matter what you do, the device fails to restore ever.

The link they send you is useless: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201210

In my case everything was up to date. I restarted the system – several times. Forced on the device reboots. Put it in recovery mode, etc. (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263)

There is no problem with my hosts (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201442) file. I completely disabled my firewall and AV. I had plugged nothing else than the KB and mouse... I even tried from another computer - nothing.

In fact I never get a real 'Restore' option - always started with restoration, but the next screen has been updated and the restoration.

I saw a post were actually downgrade iTunes to an older version (for a first generation iPod Touch) solved the issue but I have not yet tried.
