2 questions about "redevelopment" from Vista to XP

Someone I was talking about how much better my laptop worked when I "upgraded" from Vista home to XP Pro, and they wanted to do the same to theirs.
They had licensed XP Home on a thumbnail for a computer with power poor diet (or the motherboard, I'm not sure) that they elected to replace rather than repair it some time ago.

The person in question is not very computer, they asked me to proceed with the installation. When I reviewed the system, I found that the computer had a partition unused, called 'data '. The person think that the D drive was reserved for the CD, similar to the way that the reader appears sometimes on facilities without disks in older versions of Windows.

I'm not 100% sure you have the correct drivers for the NETWORK adapter (is it still called CARD of Network Interface when based and integrated?), so I'm going to install it as a dual boot in order to obtain all the necessary drivers. I found the instructions to do this, but as Vista is installed on the first partition, I have trouble if I choose to delete the VIsta partition after that XP, I get up and running because of the MBR and the boot loader? I remember that you can install on one partition other than the one with Windows NT-based, so what would be the correct way to remove the first partition Vista, once I have XP properly put in place?

Also, I think remember me something about the version of XP OEM (whatever it is) is illegal to install on another computer without count than the one for which it was purchased. Is this true? Have activation and WGA problems if I use this key?

Do you want to say that for these particular brands, and you mean by 'not turn on' the Windows Activation that disables Windows after 30 days, correct?

Well Yes. . Because if its a HP / Dell / Toshiba, Acer, the key will be in the restore cd / DVD (when install you it). And he'll know the diff, since the key is based on the model of the brand / and material. And if install you it on another system of your habit of material corresponding to the material to these portable computers or desktop computers

If you mean the license and the legality about it, so I'll tell him it's not legal, and he needs a copy that is not an OEM version.

Even if she was not preinstalled (on a laptop / desktop), it applies also to the OEM versions you buy.

It MUST only be installed on a system. You may be able to install it on other computers, BUT if you can activate it is another matter. If you can't, you will have 30 days to activate

  • Question about changing from Vista to XP on Satellite A200

    Hello

5 months ago, I bought a laptop Satellite A200 - 1 M 5, but I face some strange and annoying inconsistencies such as blue screen after startup, inconsistencies with several programs or devices, unique discoveries registry keys, problem with microsoft register server, Mp telemetry and other inexplicable things that make you angry. In addition, Vista are so heavy for 'only' 1024 MB of memory.

For all the foregoing, I thought strongly to change my operating system from Vista to XP clearer and more coherent. However, I have no idea if the machine will cooperate very well with XP. Nothing will work properly? Incompatibility? Someone told me that, perhaps, the case of Toshiba flash cards will not work. But, if so, how can I manipulate for example brightness? Combination of FN will work?

Thanks in advance for the help

I think that your machine should work well with Windows XP Home edition. Many people use Windows XP Home edition on the mobile phones of Satellite or Equium A200 new and different. Before you start to do the BIOS update to the version of Windows XP designed home. It must be 5. XX. Check it out!

For the installation of WXP use CD Windows XP SP2 home edition installations. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

BTW: before you start checking some threads here about installation of WXP A200 laptop. You can find a lot of useful things.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite A200-1NB: Question about downgrade from Vista to XP

I bought a 1NB A200 and I intend to downgrade from Vista to XP.
I would like to create a CD of tools and utilities, but do I need to do before the low grade or can I do after?

Also, I have to change the BIOS for XP before you install on the system or install XP first and then modify the BIOS for XP after installation?

    Thanks for your help.

    *@Brown*

    Hello

If possible, try to update the BIOS first, and then reinstall the operating system.

I think you also need download all drivers Toshiba XP before installing XP on this OS. Without the LAN or WLan you will not be able to connect to internet ;)

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100-334: Question about upgrading from XP to Vista

I need help to upgrade my A100-334 to vista!
I use the disks provided by toshiba. It is said that the new Bios is already installed (vers.5.60).

After running the second drive it says I need to uninstall Driver driver/BD DVD-RAM and Toshiba configfree.

Then he said that the following issues will not prevent the upgrade of the execution but that some applications or elements may not work properly. The list is long.

    Here are some examples:
Diagnostic tool for TOSHIBA, Sun Java Scheduler, TOSHIBA controls, Bluetooth TOSHIBA Power saver settings and so on.

It is recommended to uninstall all of these objects?
    What can I do?

I appreciate any help thanks - Detlef

    Hi Detlef

Well, what to say if I understand your question you didn t make a new, clean install Vista, but you tried to upgrade the full XP to Vista.

I don't wonder that this doesn't update good conduct and that you get notifications on the tools and driver compatibility issues.

The fact is that many drivers, tools and utilities that are designed for the operating system XP don t run on the Vista operating system. That is why it s necessary and desirable to remove any programs that are not compatible with Vista!

In my opinion, you must perform a clean installation of Vista, and then you can download and install all the drivers Toshiba Vista required and utilities.

Best regards and greetings to Germany ;)

Because of this, you can buy this laptop model and enjoy WXP or Vista operating system.

  • Satellite A200 - 1 GB: Questions on downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 1 GB and I want to downgrade to XP, but I have a few questions.

    + I install XP using nlite. +

    1. I have 2 partitions and I would like to know if my other partition (not the one with the operating system) will be also well formatted?

    2. I have Vista Bios. Should I change it to XP? And if so when do I need to do.

    Thank you!!!

    Hello

The original CD of Microsoft Windows XP provides an option to modify, create or delete partitions on the HARD disk.
If during the XP installation procedure, you should be able to install XP on a single partition. Other partitions will not be formatted!

    With regard to the BIOS:
You could update the BIOS after installing XP.
The laptop must run also without the update of the BIOS.

But from my knowledge the FN keys would work using the operating system XP and Vista BIOS. So if you need to use all the features of the laptop, the BIOS update would be desirable.

    See you soon

  • Question about software from Toshiba for Satellite C850

I'm a bit confused with the "software support" that came with my new laptop. It is not clear what programs are for.

For example, I opened TEMPRO and he said an update of the bios which I duly installed.
Then I looked at the SERVICE STATION, which also seems to be updated.
Are there duplicates in all this?

Can anyone recommend which of these programs must be active?
Is there a brief explanation of what they are doing and if there is no "overhead" in their performance?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

I imagine that you are a bit confused about this.
Two of them are nice especially Tempro applications. More info on Tempro Tempro service and you can read about http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/TEMPO_RELEASE_V1

To be honest, I don't use any of them and both are removed from my system. In general when you get the new notebook you will have perfectly configured OS and everything will work stable for some updates so important steps will not necessary at all. Both applications running in the background and just slow down the system.

If you have time check the other assignments on these applications. You will find many of them here on this forum.

  • Satellite A350 - Question about RAM and Vista 32 bit - 64 bit

I bought a Satellite A350 Tiger Direct. He moved with Windows Vista 32 bit.
It is capable in my view up to 8 GB of Ram. Vista 32 bit does support 3.

All reviews on this laptop online say that it came with 64-bit and 400 GB of memory.
Mine came with only 230 GB of memory and 32 bit vista. I ran Belarc advisor, and he tells me that my computer is 64-bit ready.

Is this true? Why is - this me came not with Vista 64 bit?
I want to upgrade my ram but with 32 bits, which is not possible and according to Microsoft you cannot update 32-bit to 64-bit.
So should I buy Vista 64-bit upgrade? (for around 300 euros!). Is this in any way about this?

What are my options? I want 4 GB of Ram or more really bad...

What Satellite A350 do you have exactly?

    AFAIK the most recent series of Toshiba laptop pre-installed a dual operating system;
In this case, you can choose between Vista 32-bit or 64-bit.

To obtain the 64-bit, you will need to restart the laptop and have to press F8.
Here you must choose the option to fix my computer. Then select Toshiba HDD recovery and finally, you should see the option which would be you can toggle between the 32 and 64 bit.

Usually the Vista 32 bit supports 3.2 GB RAM.
Only the 64-bit Vista will be able to recognize 4 GB and more.

  • Question about upgrading to Vista on Satellite P15

    Hello

I think the move to Vista, but some things are confusing me. I have a Satellite P15 with an OEM XP Home installed package. Am I good to buy another DVD of Vista OEM use to level or that will cause some kind of conflict with the etc. hidden restore partition.

I understand it to be if I chose to upgrade and want to completely install Vista from new I have to reformat my hard drive? It's a tough call. Is it possible to simply upgrade to Vista, but keep everything I already installed at all? I have tons of useful stuff and tons of waste which I'm also not lose and don't spend hours, it backs up all fancy, all as I don't want to have dual-boot to be honest. It's Vista or XP, not both for me.

    Any ideas?

I guess my biggest concern is another package to OEM OEM compatibility and whether the P15 him will at all.

    See you soon!

    Hello

As prior use has already proposed, you must create a second partition on your HARD drive and install Vista as OS second on the created part.
This should be a better way to use this operating system with Windows XP.

I installed the Vista in the same way. First of all, I created the partition Magic 8 partition and then installed the Vista operating system.
and I must say; He works ;)

  • A few questions after changing from Vista to Win XP on Satellite A135-S4427

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 days. It comes with Vista, but some applications are not ready yet for this OS. So, I decided to remove it, then I did a new install of Win XP SP2.

    Here come the problems...
    (1) I could not find the driver for the system management Bus controller. There is an explicitly named SMBus available on the support site, but it was not accepted by the system.

    (2) after 2-3 hours of operation, when I use the mouse or the touchpad to open a file, folder, click a button, the system to freeze for a minute, then it works very well for a few minutes, then freezes, etc. Restarting the computer does not solve the problem.

I can't explain this bad behavior :( I have not checked the security no virus was detected.

Please, any idea to make my laptop works properly?

    Hello

Satellite A135-S4427 seems to be a mobile US and therefore, you should check the site Web of Toshiba us for all the XP drivers.

1.) system Management Bus Controller-> to my knowledge, you need to install the Intel chipset utility to fix this problem.

(2.) for the most part these strange disruptions appears because of the CPU busy.
You should check the processes running in the background of the operating system and try to defragment the HARD drive.

  • Re: Satellite A200: Question about the Windows Vista serial key

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 and I doubt, in everest, I can see the key of Windows Vista, but it's different to the Windows key in the tile to the bottom of the laptop.
I change anything in the laptop because I bought, I have use once the recovery cd, but I have not a pirate key or something like that.

    Why this different key?

    Post edited by: Admin

I agree with the user above.
The serial key you will find at the bottom of the device is not similar to the serial key that can be read using a few 3rd party applications!

But you don t need such series on your Toshiba laptop key.
The restore CD contains an image of Toshiba which is already activated!

  • Two questions about SP1 and Vista startup

    Hi all
    two questions:

    (1) I understand that if I want SP1 on my machine, I have to install manually, because it is not included in the automatic update routines?

    (2) my machine failed yesterday, I received a message "unable to start Windows. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. "The only thing I can think is that before turning off the previous time, I inserted a USB hard drive to copy the files on it. But I continued to work normally on the machine. Another unusual event, it is the day before, it was very slow to start, so afer it finished start, I restarted.

When the system could not start, I tried several times, automatic procedures that always ended with "windows cannot resolve the issue automatically,
Contact your service provider. In the last attack, I also clicked on a 'Advanced tab' and restored the system, but it does not solve the problem. Then, this morning I turned on the machine again to write the exact error I have, and message instead, unexpectedly (and rather willingly), the machine starts normally. So, what could happen? Should I get my machine (which is less than one month) verified?
    Thank you!

    Paola

    Hi polla.

    (1) Yes, Yes. You must download and install SP1 manually.

    (2) No, I'm Don t think that you should check. I would say: work with it and if the error appears, back up all your data and restore complete your system, so you can exclude any type of software problem...

    Welcome them

    Hi all

In my laptop Toshiba vista registration component config.exe program does not work.

Please help me? How can I make this work?

    Hello

You received the Toshiba Recovery CD with your beautiful Sat A200.
I would recommend setting the notebook back to factory and after the new OS installation check settings if the Toshiba vista registration tool is working properly.

In other cases, you can visit Toshiba Europe site and register for your laptop on the Toshiba site!

    Good luck

  • Question about upgrading to Vista 64 - bit - Satellite A300-1EG

    Hello

I wanted to ask you, how can I run Vista 64-bit without losing all the software that I got carried away with my laptop Toshiba Satellite A300-1EG?
I would be remiss and so on the Toshiba disk creator?
Is there a way to extract somehow the recovery DVD?

    Thank you

Please do not mix two different things. 64-bit and 32-bit versions are not the same and if your mobile phone is supported for the version of Vista 64-bit, you can find all the drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

    Have you already checked this?

BTW: recovery image cannot be used for spare parts. It can only be used in the package.
