2 WRT310Ns

I just want to know if it will work. I have 2 Linksys wireless routers, 1 is at the bottom, connected to the cable modem, and wireless, the other is on the second floor across the House. I need to extend the wireless range but also keep the 2 pieces on the floor connected via the ethernet cable. OK now it's clear that the mud here, this is what, in my view, should work and if not please correct my plan.

The router was connected to the ground floor to the modem 192.168.1.1 DHCP active (change the scope to leave out la.2)

WPA on Wireless Configuration

Channel 11

Router B give it a static IP 192.168.1.2

Connect the cable from the wall to any port on the router lan

Setup WPA using the same channel different SSID and PW

Connect 2 PCs as before leave

The other 2 wired PCs should get an A router address and be able to connect to the internet?

Does make sense and if it works?

Thank you

Assuming that the cable of the wall enter router B comes from router A and router B has DHCP disabled. Yes, it will work.

  • WRT310N v1 DHCP client fails to renew the lease

    I have a Linksys WRT310N v1 with firmware build 002 v1.0.10 July 19, 2010

My router is unable to renew its lease DHCP from my cable provider, causing an internet access to drop.

I can still access my modem cable to 192.168.100.1, but I have to do a 'IP address Release' then 'renewal of IP address '' to return to internet access. Is this a known issue? The router works fine otherwise.

I managed to solve the problem by flashing DD - WRT firmware (Brainslayer 14929 K24 build).

I don't know why DHCPRENEW / DHCPREBIND fails with the OEM firmware, but it works correctly now.

  • EA6500-double WUMC710-WRT310N as Access Point

After getting a Smart TV for my basement last year, I was unable to get a proper my WRT310N wireless signal.  I had the WRT310N on the second floor with my desktop PC.  Wifi should reach the basement, but not good enough to stream hi-def movies.  To remedy this, I bought a router of EA6500 and the WUMC710 bridge to replace the WRT310N.  I put the EA6500 on the ground floor, the bridge in the basement and I was using Powerline to access my PC upstairs.  I become disillusioned by the stability of the signal by current bearer of the PC upstairs, so I bought another WUMC710 to my floor.  This configuration is therefore works very well, EA6500 ground floor with of two WUMC710, one upstairs and one in the basement.  The only problem I have left is a wifi dead spot in the master bedroom.  I not was too concerned about the place of the dead since we do not use wifi in the bedroom very often, but I recently heard that it is possible to use my old router, the WRT10N, as an access point to extend my range of wifi.  I followed some instructions of the internet to get the WRT310N set up as access point (disable DHCP, configure phrase password and security, the same as on the EA6500 router).  I then used the power lines through a signal ethernet of the EA6500, the son of AC, in the House of the masters of whetre the other carrier current module online is now connected.  I then connected the WRT310N to this Powerline online and the WiFi in the room was now nice and sharp.  Note that this WRT310N is out now wifi in the main room, while in the corridor on the other side of the second story sits the WUMC710 bridge, which is connected to the EA6500 via wifi. At some point during the day wifi stop working throughout the House.  My suspicion is that the WUMC710 passed the EA6500 wifi signal and picked up the WRT310N wifi.  The only way I could get wifi back working again was to unplug the WRT310N access point.  Is there a way to put bridges (WUMC710) so that they will only connect to the EA6500 and NOT the WRT310N?

Hello. Given that both routers are set up with the same wireless name and password, your WUMC710 will connect to one of them. If you wish, you can configure - your WRT310N with other wireless name and password so that your bridge will connect with EA6500. This should help.

  • URL WRT310N problem

Well, this is my second WRT310N (version 2), I couldn't believe that this thing was so bad that he acted with the first one I got (and back), so I try again.

The first thing I get after the router has been completely configured, internet "worked" was:

URLThe Invalid URL requested ' / ', is not valid.

    Reference #9.6c6d1160.1250371680.0

by clicking on my bookmark yahoo.com or hit 'home' on any of my browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and IE8 all "original" is set to www.yahoo.com).  I have ping would be yahoo.com in a window DOS command and got the IP digital and was able to go.  But not from www.yahoo.com.  And other URL like google.com, facebook.com, etc are fine.  Same "us.yahoo.com" works very well.

Only a reboot will fix it.  And then only for a while... 20 minutes later, I have experienced the same problem, click on yahoo.com and get "invalid URL".

Has anyone else experienced this problem and solved, or Version 2 of this router is just a piece of junk?

I'm perfectly willing to work with this, but it goes back to the store pretty soon if I can't get out of frequent reboots.  If it wasn't the second router I had who encounters this problem, I have undertaken my own mental health.

    Thank you.

    -Roger

Yes, when I disabled the firewall and antivirus disabled, my regular www.yahoo.com link was broken again.

I solved this problem by opting for a Dlink DIR-655 Router, no problems now.  I can go wherever I want to, I have the gigabit wired ports that I was looking for, and I have n wireless.  It's nice not to have to wince before clicking on a URL.

I think that there is something seriously wrong with the firmware for version 2 WRT310N router.  Or maybe I had 2 guys that Linksys extinguish.  I'm dubious on this subject, I have it from very different sources.  I have not seen the specific problem I had with the WRT54GS Linksys or Dlink DIR-655, so I'm pretty darn sure that points to the problem being the version router WRT310N 2 somehow.

Thank you for trying to help, there is no help for this problem.  I really tried to make the WRT310N I got work, both were defective in exactly in the same way, this is why I finally gave up.

    -Roger

My WRT310N seems to work OK, but when I open the network view in Vista the name displayed for the device is gibberish.  It is currently ' 462-49462, tcp, on, MSNMSGR.  My firmware version is v1.0.07 - LS - HND.  Someone has an idea of what might happen?

May be an another Vista "Feature", change the host name of the router. Should solve the problem

  • Installation with WRT310N wireless router problem

I have currently an old model WRT54G Router installed wireless that works very well, but I need the WPS technology if I want to install a newer model WRT310N router. I used the installation cd supplied with the router, which has not seen any problem until I removed the old router and plugged in power in the new after connecting the anc ethernet cables to my cable modem. For some reason any the software wont recognize the new router so I can continue with the configuration of the installation. Since I plugged the new router in the same connections that I had had the old LInksys router connected to, I do not understand why and I can not proceed with the installation. I finally just reinstalled... connected., my old router and it works fine, but this isn't a solution for me.

It might have something to do with the sequence to connect the different cables? I also tried to use 192.168.1.1. via my browser and could up the installation screens but it wont let me install the new router so that the old one is still in place and without the old one in place, I can not access the configuration on my desktop screens.

I have my router in a closet with my... cable modem... .but the WRT54G worked fine for 2 years in the same cupboard and I also installed a Netgear N600 router as an alternative. is it installed fine until what happened to the point where he said the beach was too limited. .i guess work in the closet.  I guess I can buy a range extender to solve this problem, but I have no experience with those so im not sure if this will solve the problem. I prefer to get the Linksys WRT310N to work if possible.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the tips on how to handle this. Fortunately, I discovered later that the Linksys router, I bought on ebay, is apparently defective and it now resides in my trash. That said, I also realized with the help of a neighbor that my Kindle works with the good old Linksys router I used for 4 years or more. My problem was to not understand how to download books on the Kindle, even though I thought I did. So the problem is moot. Sorry I got worth this site with no problem.

  • Game WGA600N adapter used to connect to the router WRT310N but not now.

I have a game WGA600N adapter that connected perfectly to a WRT310N router. Has worked for 2 months. Then one night while being connected via the adapter for games, connection has been lost. I was unable to reconnect since. I have reset the router and adapter of game (full reset) and still not connecting. I thought that it could be the signal, but I put the adapter for games about 3 to 4 feet of the router and it still not connect. In addition, when you browse the installer on the adapter for games I can see my network SSID only one part of the time. In this case the weather in normal or next to the router as location mentioned above. Whenever I go through installation and network appears, I continue through the process, but I get an "unable to connect" alternation and the message "network found" that opens. By clicking 'next' never connects to the network. As stated, it worked fine for 2 months before this problem. I thought it was the router and replaced it with the same type and not luck. I must also stress that I was able to connect to an old WRT54GS router without problem. I also tried to connect wireless to the router WRT310N with another PC and had no luck in the connection... However he also finds and connects to the WRT54GS router without a hitch. I am lost at this point.

As you have arelady set up your WAG600N with WRT54GS router and it worked perfectly well. Then I think the problem lies on WRT310N router. Maybe your game adapter and computers are not connect to your wireless network. You must change some settings in your wireless router. Follow this steps on your router and I think this will make your adapter games work perfectly well.

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...

For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Here, select manual configuration... Wireless network mode must be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...

-Fix the Radio band to wide - 40 MHz and change the broad Channel 9 and channel Standard 11 - 2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled, and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...
    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WPA wireless security, encryption, select AES... Password input your desired WPA key. For example, MySecretKey, this will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.

NOTE: The password must be more than 8 characters...

    Click the settings advanced wireless
Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304 change the RTS threshold to 2307 > click 'save settings '...

  • Connection WRT310N problems

Recently (in the last month or almost) I had problems with my router.  My connection suddenly stops working and I have to reconnect to the internet, I will join the game servers with ping around 20-40 and get "connection interrupted" put warning all the minutes, and the loading of web pages has gotten slow.  It doesn't matter how I am to the router, I still have these problems.  First, I thought that maybe it's my wireless card, but my friend ended and had the same problems.  I've had my router for a few years now and I was wondering if it was just getting old and needs to be replaced.  Is that what I can do to solve this problem or do I need a new router?

I had a similar problem and the solution is actually quite simple, but it will be absolutely empty of any warranty. all those who say that it is a firmware issue is only listening for people who do not want to admit the necessity of a reminder. Depending on the router you have (V1 or V2) there are several used capacitors. V1 of this router has 6 selections and V2 4. These capacitors are horrible quality and usually a failure during several months of use. If you have the courage and an iron solder, go to radio Shack (or online if you want the best quality) and buy some new hats and replace the OEM ones. It took maybe half an hour and I've never replaced the components of the front card. After this replace my wireless connection is actually faster than before (objectively, no data to back up that) and the connection has not yet abandoned.

some good info if you plan to go this route:

    www.badcaps.NET

    Council WRT310N V1

WRT310N V2 (this shows the new capacitors, I installed. ugly, I know, but it works.)

  • WRT310N - upgrade the firmware fails...

    Hello.

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on my WRT310N v1.00.4 - CA to the latest version available on the Web site, v1.0.07 build 14. But, every time I try and update the firmware, it gets 98% done and it remains fair to 98%. I left it sitting as this night, but it never ends. I tried several times, but always, it hangs at 98%.

Someone has any idea how to get around this?

    Thank you

  • WRT310n - Routing/NAT has stopped working

    Cisco Forums Hello,

I'll try to do this as detailed as I can, tell me if I missed something.

I've been on vacation for 2 weeks (all computers were OFF, but slept WRT310N) and when I came back none of my computers could access the internet. I have Linux, Vista, and Windows 7 computers on this network, then it is not related to the BONE.

Each computer gets an IP address from the DHCP server on the router, each of them can ping the router, but they cannot ping outside addresses. I tried the "Diagnostic" utility in the router admin interface and I can ping the router google, but not from any other computer.

I tried pigning my Gateway ISP and Google using their IP (bypassing the DNS) addresses, but in vain.

Setting a static IP and the ISP DNSes on a computer does not work either.

I restarted the router, rebooted the cable modem, renewed the IPs, restarted the computer and restarted the network intefaces. Nothing works. Wireless works fine, but not external access.

Thus, the router sees internet but NATted computers aren't!

It was working fine 2 weeks ago.

What else could I try? I am at a loss here...

    Thanks for your help!

I tried all your suggestions, but everything seemed fine.

I'm finally back to default settings... and now it works again.

    Thanks for your help.

  • WRT310N configuration issue

I am trying to set up a network at home via my WRT310N router N Wireless, but have a somewhat convoluted Setup, go home. More specifically, I have a Verizon Actiontec modem/router combo, G who is serving more than one PC Wired has provided, as well as some wireless clients. I would like to connect the WRT310N the ActionTec router and have a Wireless N dedicated va that can also access the internet, but also a handful of wireline customers. Two routers are connected wan wan port port.

However, I don't know how to set up the "Internet IP" of the WRT310N so that both routers to communicate between them. If I put a static IP address which is identical to the IP of the router, I get a warning indicating that the internet IP and router IPS are on the same subnet and is not kosher (which I guess makes sense). Define the Internet IP to DHCP function results in no IP being pulled from the Actiontec router (presumably for the same reasons)

Is anyway to configure the router behaves more like an access point?

Worked like a charm. Thank you!

  • WRT310N vs Archos5 IT

I just again Archos 5 IT and 5 minutes of WiFi, the WRT310N V1 stop it is wifi radio. I press the button again or sometimes need to reboot the router and wifi turns. It has happened on several occasions when the Archos is in market, but not every time and not related to UPnP. I know that the router stopped wireless because other customers of wifi, I had for 2 years with this router also lost at the same time.

Is it just a coincidence that my router is running out the day I get my Archos or is it possible that the Archos wifi upsets the router and he chooses to stop?

Change the channel to 1 or 11 and under the wireless tab wireless click the settings sub-tab advanced wireless and below to change the tag at 50 interval, change the Fragmentation threshold to 2201, 2202 RTS threshold change and click on save settings...

Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

  • Loss of connection WRT310N

I have a WRT310N.  Every two days the router stops working.  Lights all blinking as they should, but nothing seems able to connect, for example, the computers connected wire and wireless nor can see each other or the internet (via cable modem).  If I power cycle the router, everything works fine, but can last only a few hours or days before lock up again.  I've updated the latest firmware, but no improvement.  Have I not wonky router or is there something else I can do to make this work always?  Any help would be appreciated.

After any Firmware Upgrade, you must reset your default router and then re - set... If you have not handed over the router after the last update you must reset it now...

Press and hold the button of reset for 45 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 45 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

If you are still having the same problem, you have to take out of the equation linksys router and connect your modem directly to a computer, see if it disconnects regularly... If it disconnects then it is a modem problem, if the connection is stable, then it's your router...

You will need the routers cascading. Here is the procedure. Follow the LAN - LAN connection.
