  You have the original installation media supplied with your machine? This would be a way: use the DVD to boot from, format the new hard drive and then reinstall the operating system. You can then update/upgrade to 10.11.

  Other than that, your model was not eligible to have its firmware updated to allow for the recovery of the internet which is the only other way I know - at least the only other way besides a bootable clone, you did before your defective hard disks.

  Several years ago I tested both a hybrid version Seagate 1 and later version 2 with my 13 "2009 MBP and the computer started more quickly with one of these drives with 7200 RPM drive. But that and save files were the only time where I saw an improvement of high speed. So no, not slower, but not really all that much faster. I ended up installing an SSD in the computer. Now that was an improvement.

  I came across the solution. In addition to download creative cloud, I needed to return to the site and download the trials for the programs I want to use - Photoshop and Lightroom. Once I did, I was in business. Save bad if this was done in light on the download site.

• How can I fix slow startup of the computer and the applications on mid 2009 MacBook Pro?  (EtreCheck included)

  Hello!  Can anyone help me in this state of EtreCheck to understand what I need to do to improve performance with my MacBook Pro?  The computer is slow to respond after the computer starts.  Apps are also slow to load.  Once I have apps open, the speed is satisfactory.  It just seems to have the hiccups a lot just to get there.

  1. Uninstall McAfee.  There is no virus circulating currently which can do damage to OS X, so this time programs, the antivirus are not necessary.  The majority of them, what I and other contributors here have seen, adversely affects the performance of any system they are installed on.  In addition, they protect you from what Mac users really need to worry, which is malware and adware.  Malware and adware programs are installed by you, unlike viruses, who settle.  The most common way in this case is when you download something via torrent or a comprehensive download site, as many times these installers are provided with the malware and adware.  When you install one, install you this.
  2. Uninstall CleanMyMac 3.  Mac don't need any program that claims it will be driven, clean, optimize, refresh, or organize your computer.  Programs like CMM are called scamware for a reason.
  3. Uninstall Trusteer.  See #1 why.  If an antivirus program on a Mac is bad, more than one is even worse.

• Cable/adapter for use of 2007 iMac as a display for 2009 MacBook Pro

  I would use my older iMac as a monitor for my MacBook Pro. Want to know which cable and/or adapter I need help.

  The iMac is a 24 inch, Intel based since 2007 (6.1). 2 GB, 667 MHZ.  It uses iOS 10.5.8. Its port is a Mini-DVI video output.

  The MacBook Pro is a 15-inch (5.4) 2009. 4 GB, 1067 MHZ. It uses iOS 10.11.6. Its port is a Mini display port.

  I intend to sell my MacBook Pro 2009, which is still ongoing on the mountain lion. After you wipe the drive, I tried to reinstall OS x, but it came, is the message "this item is temporarily unavailable. Is there a way I can install an OS to work to the computer via the USB port or try to restore a backup time machine from another my mac?

  You need to install an operating system from the original computer diskettes or a compatible retail DVD (or one key USB installation Lion from Apple). Insert the floppy, reboot with the C key or Option key, use disk utility to erase the drive and perform the installation.

  Any Mac OS X 10.8 or newer system will be linked to your Apple ID and not transferable. This also applies to a copy of the Lion that native Mac App store or the Apple Online Store.
