2012 Macbook and gray screen

Lately when I open my 2012 Macbook Pro, I get a grey screen with a status bar at the bottom. No just grey apple logo with the State Bar and startup sound. After a minute, my login screen is displayed, but the keyboard and track key are disabled. This fixes after a minute and one minute after the Bluetooth allows. Can someone tell me what is happening?

Hi Nighytj, follow the steps in this topic to Support Apple for a Mac that won't turn on. Then let us know.

  • 2012 MacBook Pro renovated migrated 8/20, screen has blacked out for the second time

can not force stop with long hold on the power button / stop. The first time was in the second day of use, after all the updates from app store. Screen was back the next morning. 4 GB of ram, mid-2012, os 10.11.6.

I have the same PBM and had a similar problem. One day I went to turn on my MBP and the screen was black.

It was seems to be dead. The screen was not lit. I tried the Mini external display port with a television by HDMI cable and adapter screen.

    https://www.Amazon.com/Sabrent-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-adapter-da-MDHA/DP/B017NK IQ8M/ref = sr_1_5? ie = UTF8 & qid = 1471973756 & sr = 8-5 & keywords = + mini displayport + to + hdmi + 4 k

And the macbook worked fine with the TV. TV display showed MBP display very well.

This led me to believe that there is just something wrong with my screen LED on the MBP.

So I opened the back cover of the MBP and looked inside.

I saw the cable that connects the screen LED MBP to motherboard and disconnected it and then reinstall it.

I then closed the MBP and restarted.

IS!... LED MBP display worked again. If the problem was simply that the cable of the LED screen did not have a good connection. So, just to be disconnected and reconnected to make good contact.

This maybe off topic but it's worth a try. It may be your screen LED cable which does not have a good contact.

  • Progress bar of logo and gray MacBook Pro Apple.

MY MacBook pro is not terribly old. Not more than 3 years is not new.

It has the apple Logo and underneath is a gray progress bar. It loads thar bar take some time, then just stops almost as some laptops do when they update

anywyas what I need help with this!

    Please?

    Thank you!

    make a gray screen:

    your hardware works basically

    the charges Apple logo:

The Apple logo can only be demonstrated that it was brought in by the initial blob of software boot loader. See gray what apple means that your player has responded to this request and produced the right stuff. That this kind of things, then initializes, and to get more data in the drive Initializes the file system. The file system then try to mount the boot disk to read the files.

    draws a progress bar:

If this bar remains for more than a very short time, the boot drive cannot be mounted, because the directory is damaged. Your computer is now running the equivalent of disk utility (ERD) while showing you the progress for about five minutes.

-If this unit can be mounted after the repair, the boot continues.

-If the drive cannot be mounted, your Mac will stop, because it cannot continue.

    What to do:

Start to recovery and run utility disk (ERD) repeatedly until it comes clean or gets stuck.

-If it comes clean after a few passes, try to start again

-If it gets stuck, you need another drive to make progress. Get another drive and an external enclosure to maintain and install it on Mac OS from scratch. Then you can use it to try to save some of the files, if necessary. OR if you have a reliable backup, you can perform a restore on the new drive.

  • El Capitan does not start after a freeze and a forced, bonded stop on the gray screen

    Hi all

I have a MacBook Pro 17 "late 2011, 2.4 Ghz, 16 GB RAM with OS X El Capitan installed, the latest version with all the updates." A year ago, I've had my Toshiba HDD replaced by Samsung SSD 250 GB SATA III 850 EVO and the Toshiba disk has been moved to CD using LMP disk Doubler Bay, at the same time, I had my RAM went from 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM, I have now. The OS X El Capitan is installed on the SSD. In this configuration, everything worked well, with absolutely no problem whatsoever. Sometimes, I ran disk utility to check both of my hard drives and no problem.

Unfortunately yesterday, strange things started going. First of all, I noticed some unusual glitches when you browse the internet with Safari. I'll try to describe the best I can because they lasted about 2 seconds, so I don't recall. In any case, all of a sudden, as if half right of my screen has shifted in the middle of the screen and it was wrong and image around was all damaged or distorted but legible. He'll be back to normal when I switched between applications or revealed the office displays the windows of all running applications.

It was similar to this (below) but much larger.

Then, I continued my work as if nothing had happened, when all of a sudden my mouse pointer disappeared and the system froze completely. It was just totally frozen, the time was not moving and the computer did not react somehow to the keys I pressed. Unable to do anything, I had to press and hold the power button to turn off the computer. After starting it again once I hear the ringtone, I see the gray Apple logo and the loading bar. When the loading bar reaches about 40%, a coloured horizontal line appears (see photo below), then it subsides quickly followed by a black screen, which is quickly followed by a blank grey screen with no Apple logo or the bar loading, just a gray screen Uni, where I'm stuck. The computer turns off by itself after about 15-30 minutes if I leave it like that on the gray black screen.

    The coloured horizontal line:

I can't start in safe mode or recovery mode.

I CAN only boot single user mode, Apple Hardware Test mode, the boot (by holding the ALT/OPTION key) Manager and verbose mode. Also, I can start on the Internet recovery mode but once the download is complete, it is stuck on the gray screen (gray screen with the Apple logo WITHOUT horizontal line-online quick clear-online stuck on the gray screen black screen)

After a lot of googling and reading, that's what I've tried so far:

    -' fsck - fy " in single-user mode

-running Apple Hardware Test and the Apple Hardware Test extended, both are zero problem

-Reset PRAM and NVRAM, MSC, several times

    -with the help of this guide: https://www.afp548.com/2015/01/14/when-yosemite-has-fallen-and-it-cant-get-up/ in single-user mode: "rm - rf / Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/private/var/db/BootCache * '

    "rm - rf/Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Library/Caches/com.apple*"

    "defaults write DSBindTimeout HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist Volumes/Macintosh\ - int 10.

-in single-user mode: empty the trash

    -in single-user mode: "sudo purge"

-in a single user mode: 'exit' or 'reboot'

However, during my fight, I could successfully arrives at the login screen, log in and use my MacBook for some time, about a half hour before the same thing happens, the mouse disappears and the system to freeze completely. I remember that both times where I was able to get to the login screen, it was after I had been in single user mode and typed 'Quit' or 'reboot'.

The above colorful horizontal line also appears in the single-user mode when I type "exit" AND I am UNABLE to get to the login screen later (photo below). It just goes to the gray white screen. Those two times when I was able to connect to exit single-user mode, the horizontal line colored is NOT appear in single-user mode.

  • Gray screen of malware and 'voice' to dial 1 888 to fix the malware? What should I do?

  • How to block all the videos and ads on all the site as how it is when it shows the gray screen when the flash player needs to be updated

Hi there please help me. I didn't have this problem until two days ago when the browser updated itself. I have the youtube video downloader add on and always use it. I'm on a data plan and it used to block videos and add ads which I like, but now is not because of the update, I came back to the old version, but it did not help and I downloaded the flash but block it does not work. It makes the slow loading of pages and uses a large amount of data that I tried many things like all the plugins of switching to add it on the menu to activate ever and it doesn't quite work. Before it used to show the gray screen, where it says "the flash player is out of date" on videos and commercials, but he does not do this because of the update so please help me to do it again.

I solved. On the firefox support page they will give you information about the HTML5 player and they say there that firefox uses it only 38 version before so I'm 36 version and it worked in blocking it as before.

So its all sort and if everyone wants to do the same thing go to https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ and all previous versions will be there.

  • can not restore correctly hit theme by accident and computer screen went gray

My Dell was working fine no problem. I have vista.  I went into the control panel under Customize the theme and got confused and selected windows classic.  My main screen turned all gray (by removing all my icons and background).  A friend told me to go back and choose windows vista, I made this gray screen but still the same.  To make matters worse my computer then stopped allowing me to view anything on my screen.  I coud go to start, but I I chose something you would see that flash on the screen as he was trying to open, but he would never open, you would see only listed in the toolbar. At this point I turned off a turned on the computer, allowing access again.  1 prob. This keeps coming and go where I can and cannot click to open things from the start tab.  Prob 2 there are lines of light on dashboard on both sides of the computer that says "tablet pc Input Panel", what is it, and why I can't get rid of it.  Prob 3, I just want to go back to my old screen is possible.

I went to start search and type rstrui and tried to restore to yesterday.  Process, restarted, but an error came say it has failed.  I tried a 2nd and 3rd times where I couldn't even read the pop up when she came back because we were back to not be able to view anything.  4th test was identical to the first.  How can I restore my computer to how it worked before?

What version of Mac OS X are you using? If the Yosemite, you will need to upgrade to 10.10.1 or higher version.

In any case, start by going in the editor preferences > general, click this button and the restart of the Editor:
