27-a010 all-in-One Pavilion: why the hard drive from my old computer Toshiba displayed on my new HP c drive?

I got this new computer on Monday. The reason why I bought a new was that I suspected that my old Toshiba got compromised. I even bought a new Linksys router that was AC 1900. My new HP computer has McAfee and uses MicrosoftEdge browser. There are several interesting questions, I hope that experts from HP can answer for me.

1. why my old Toshiba drive appears on the hard drives in the Device Manager?

2. Why are there readers D two on disk management? Can't update my Windows 10. I bought a new computer.

3. why hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys, swapfile.sys, BOOTNXT appear on my drive C Windows?

The above synptoms are normal? I need to do something about these questions or just leave them along? I have a microsoft all in one account.

Thanks for the reply.

Hello

I don't see your screen but:

1. new machine uses Toshiba HDD, not your old machine of Toshiba. HP uses HARD disks with many suppliers, including Toshiba.

2. Yes, it is normal. One with the file system is the real, without file system is a shadow one.

3. normally, they are hidden system files, you can hide them if you wish.

Kind regards.

I have a problem of my catalogs of PES 10 displacement and the photos attached from my old computer with Windows XP on my new computer with Windows 10.  How can I keep my original photo folders tree arrangement when I restore backups of catalog on the new machine?

The problem arises because Windows 10 is equipped with a new tree structure with new names for many of its branches.  Tree of Windows XP starts to Local Disk (C), and then does the following: Documents and settings, Susan [it's me the user], My Documents, SusanPhotos (the folder that I created that contains my photos) and then several subfolders and subfolders with my photos grouped by theme, for example the Puglia Italy and Italy-Roma.  My new computer Windows 10 has a different tree and different names for a large number of branches from early on: OS (C) [instead of Local Disk (C)], users, Susan, Documents [instead of the old My Documents], SusanPhotos [what I created] and then the subfolders and so on.

Because of the new tree and the new names of the branch, I can't find a way to restore my PES 10 catalogues and photos attached to them to where I want to that they.  What I want to do is put the files from SusanPhotos to the Windows 10 Documents folder so that I find myself with the following tree, essentially the same as what I had on my old machine: OS (C), users, Documents, Susan, SusanPhotos, then the original subfolders with my photos.  Apparently 10 PSE does not allow me to move folders of photos in the Organizer, so that the pictures stay connected.

PES 10 offers 3 options for restoration: Original, personalized and customized, keeping the original structure of the file.  Here's what happens to each:

    (1) original creates new folders with the old names and the structure of the tree, parallel to the tree Windows 10 has instead of inside the tree Windows 10.

    (2) custom with the original structure of the file is the restaurant where I want (within the SusanPhotos) but retains all branches superfluous-instant initial tree of Windows XP, production: BONES (C), users, Documents, Susan, SusanPhotos, Documents and settings [carried over from the old computer], Susan, My Documents, SusanPhotos, Roma-Italy and Italy-Puglia and so on.

    (3) custom (without checking the original file structure box) makes every SusanPhotos but without any organization: OS (C),..., SusanPhotos, Italy-Puglia and Italy-Roma and all other folders at the same level instead of in their original nested groups with subfolders.

The first two methods you end up with a tree that is chaotic with two parallel trunks or a single trunk but with several redundant layers carried over from the old computer.  The third ends with no tree at all.

One solution would be to make a Custom Restore with the original structure of the file and then use PSE10 to move the folders that I would like.  However, AFAIK, PSE10 I cannot move entire folders of photos, only of individual pictures.  With thousands of photos in hundreds of cases, the time required for the movement of individual pictures is prohibitive.  PSE10 allows me to move the catalog folder, but apparently not the folders containing the photos.

The result is that at this time I have no solution to my problem.  Can you help me find a way to restore my photos while keeping their original organization?

One solution would be to make a Custom Restore with the original structure of the file and then use PSE10 to move the folders that I would like.  However, AFAIK, PSE10 I cannot move entire folders of photos, only of individual pictures.

You simply use the 'Files' Panel on the left. Your folder tree appears. Simply, you drag and drop the folder to move with all its subfolders in the desired master file. That works exactly as in Solution Explorer, so be patient, you receive no message of progress until it is completed.

You did a good job to understand the situation. I think that might help you is to understand that changes in the way default folders are created in a different version of Windows can be ignored if you do not use these structure 'default', from the shortcuts to your main folder of the user.

I create a master folder 'My Photos' directly under the C: root.

When I restore, I use the "custom" choice, as you have discovered, I only specify this folder in the restore process, and I completely ignore the default shortcuts to 'Documents' or 'Image '.

  • Why my data Ext Hard Drive WORD & EXCEL from my old computer does not recognize my new computer with Windows 7.

Recently, I replaced an old computer running Windows XP with a newer computer of Windows7.

I have TWO Toshiba external hard drives 2... one of them (Mdl HDDR250E03X) is used for external backup of data on my computer.  I started using it for my old computer that was running on Windows XP.  Due to a Trojan infection, I had to buy a new computer running Windows 7.  I thought that the hard drive is simply a plug-and-play device, BUT my new computer has not recognized that there is a device plugged until someone suggested that I make a change in the Device Management section (which only works at Midway).  My new computer now sees that the drive is there, BUT the data displayed under a name of file/folder (dec22a69bbd43e6966c9935e4720f7).  Data include WORD files, EXCEL files and .jpg files.  When I click on this long file/folder name, I get a long list of records as well as other unknown files that I don't recognize.  Inside each of the files is the SAME set of files (EULA, LocalizedData and SetupResources.dll.  When I try to save a WORD or EXCEL file on this disk, I tells me that the drive is empty, then the path and destination does not allow me to record anything.  I suspect that the problem lies in the Windows 7 software to recognize the hard drive but, I'm totally new to this Windows 7.  Everyone recognizes what is the problem?   I KNOW that the data is always there because I ran my virus on this single drive software and I could see many file names as they were read.

    Hello DuaneMeyer,

What are you help save external hard disk?
It is built in the backup part OS backup software or a 3rd?

    Please let us know.

  • Why the hard drive does not priority over everything else.

I have a problem that probably relates to Firefox 6, but has happened at another time.

Without apparent reason, disk hard activity becomes suddenly constant, and the computer stops responding.  I have Process Explorer running that shows the use of the CPU by about 10 percent, but the drive can thrash away for 10 seconds, minutes.  It is not yet sensitive enough to close a program or to bring up the Task Manager.  The last time it happened again several minutes slow finished clock.  So I have to hold the power button until it turns off.

So my question is, any specific problems I have, why Windows is programmed so that the hard disk (celebrates the slower component in a computer) takes precedence over things in RAM?

If it is associated with Firefox, you can try to start firefox in "safe" mode
    Start-> Run-> firefox-safe-mode
Which starts Firefox with all the modules and Extensions disabled.  It could be that one of your modules or extensions are not compatible with the new version of Firefox.  After startup, you can turn some addons and extensions via the Tools menu Addons->.

After thinking about this topic, I agree with your assessment of virtual memory.  It could slow things down, but not at the point of the clock, waste of time.

Your comments/output of the chkdsk operation is recorded in the application log.
    Start-> Run-> "eventvwr.msc".
Then click on 'Request' in the left column.  CHKDSK results will be scored with the 'Winlogon' source and tested as 1001.  Only the first bytes of the report are saved.

You don't have the command line option to start with a higher priority process Explorer via the "/ p" switch (see the help screen).  I'm not sure if a query of e/s of a higher priority task will get in front of the existing entries in the I/O queue.

    HTH & good luck,
    JW

  • Desktop PC HP all-in-one 19-2113w: backup hard drive

    Greetings.

I want to backup the drive on my HP 19-2113w all-in-one desktop PC on a disk external usb, with a live dvd of CloneZilla.

The problem is this: I can't get the pc to boot from the live dvd, because it will not allow UEFI.

I can't disable startup secure UEFI BIOS and enable boot inherited, but it does not actually change anything.

    How can I accomplish this?

    Thank you.

I'll try the link you sent, thank you...

15:56 no, the bios still doesn't let me make the change. It seems to me to turn off the secure startup, but when I try to activate the starting inherited, the option is then locked... what to do now?

01/12/2014: I have installed AOMEI Backupper, works very well despite the name and it is free. Problem solved.

UPDATE: 22/12/2014 AOMEI actually NOT work that well and I discovered that to boot from the cd/dvd, press 'esc' and then 'f9' to select the dvd player, even if you do not change the bios settings. If you do not change the bios settings, you must first disable secure boot, save changes and exit the bios, then enter a code given by the bios to finalize the change.

In addition, windows 8.1 has an option to start a UEFI approved dvd/USB key, in "changing pc settings/parameters/backup & recovery", you can select a boot option using a device.

When you request support, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are on the bottom, back, next to your computer or on the BIOS boot screen. DO NOT include your serial number.

Any hard drive should be able to work on your computer, as it is the same type of interface. After replacing the hard drive, you may need to check that it is seen by the BIOS.

After replacing the hard drive, use the HP recovery media that you created when you first set up your computer to return the computer to a factory State. If you don't create this media, media must be bought from HP customer care through a depression. This method can be valid in the United States and the Canada. Contact customer support and see if you can ask the media

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Why the HARD disk is partitioned into C & D on Satellite Pro C partition

Why the HARD drive is divided and how to use it?

It is important that the one that I use?
It turns into one big disk?

The manual says nothing about this.

    Thanks for any help

    Ken

    Hello

The HARD disk is partitioned and contains two partitions. The C partition is the system partition that contains the Windows operating system. The second D partition contains data drive HARD recovery.
HARD drive recovery allows you to establish the notebook back to factory settings without the recovery disk usage.

But it s is strongly recommended to create the recovery disk! The user manual provides the info on that in case something goes wrong with the HARD drive, the recovery disk allows you to recover the laptop.

Of course, you can delete the D partition if you want to, but before doing so, you must create the recovery disk.

However, my HARD drive contains 3 partitions. I created an extra. In my case, the C partition contains only system and the unique software. My files private like Mp3, movies, etc. are placed on the D second partition).
The third partition (E) contains a folder with games.

  • How to replace the hard drive internal on Satellite 2450?

    Hello!
Last month, after a BSOD displayed (I don't have the code of error message, unfortunately) my laptop decided to not work again.
At the start, he reached the start menu and then displays a black screen... no message, no auto restart... nothing. Just a weird noise coming from the hard drive (like a scratched cd).

I tried to format the drive, but without success. After choosing the boot source, trying to read the cd and the black screen appears again, with no message. I checked if the Bay of cd is not working properly and it is. (I think)
So I replaced the HDD in my satellite 2450. A new toshiba ide 2.5 30 GB hard drive. But when I install a new one, the system does not recognize.

The control panel of the Bios says that "no hard disk" is available, and I can not change this option. (locked)
With the Windows Xp cd in the drive, the Setup program runs all properly until the 'select drive' format menu, witch says that no hard drive is recognized (with a new drive hard in).

I don't really know what to do!
Is something missing in this process?

    Thank you for the patience

    Hello

The laptop did not recognize a new HARD drive. Which is one reason why Win XP cannot follow the additional installation steps

I can't say exactly why the HARD drive is not recognized, but the 30 GB IDE should be ok.
I remember one of my friends had a similar problem with the new HARD drive.
Some hard drives have a jumper (3.5 HARD drive and 2.5 IDE HARD drive too)
Maybe you should check if a rider has been set to the right position (slave?).

Check it otherwise that I recommend to test with another new HARD drive

In the worst case the disc HARD controller might be faulty, but it would mean replacing a motherboard
