27 minutes to initialize top

Hello everyone!

I have an old Dell Dimension desk top of page running XP Pro, that I rarely use.  So just for fun, I ran an AVG scan on it. afterwords, the computer takes about 27 minutes (not no joke I timed it) at startup.  First of all, there is a black screen that is there for a long time; afterwords, the blue screen of XP which States "loading windows" lights up and remains on for about 12 minutes before my office finally appears.  Ive tried to restore two previous times, it did not help. Any ideas why it takes so long to start?

Thank you

Charles

In general articles in the system logs tend to point to the cause of a problem. In the application log warnings tend to be symptoms, for example a joint report, is that Internet Explorer hangs. Knowing that applications are suspended can be useful if the computer is generally slow.

You are looking for a reason why the computer takes so long to start if you are looking for errors that occur during the last boot. Boots earlier only interest to see if the error in the latest trunk took place before, confirming thereby that it is a recurring problem.

Did you do any household to help the computer to perform better?

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before the error occurred initially do not use this option.

If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user log you need to run Disk Cleanup in each user profile that you want to delete all the unwanted files.

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner but note that cCleaner will not manage system restore points. Remove the old restore points can be important if you have little free disk space. cCleaner comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.

    1. go to your computer manufacturer's website, check to see if your graphics card has to update the drivers.

2 make a check of the file system. See if it finds corrupted files and repair them.

Start button > Search box type cmd > look up, do a RIGHT click oncmd.exe > click onRun As Administrator > in this window cmd black and white, type at the prompt flashingsfc/scannow > press the ENTER key.
Note: there is a space between 'sfc' and ' / '.
To sit and wait. It will take time.

    Reboot (restart your computer)

3 do a disc check to repair bad sectors, etc.

Start button > Search box, type cmd > look up, right-click oncmd.exe > Run As Administrator >

in the black and white window, at the command prompt flashes, typechkdsk/f/r > press the Enter key.
Note: there is a space between 'chkdsk' and ' / '.
The screen will say something like cannot do it now, but you want to run it on reboot. Click on 'y' as in Yes > press > window cmd of output.
Restart your computer. It will take a while. DO NOT stop the machine. Just wait.

If you put expensive RAM and/or incorrect RAM then Yes. iMacs are very sensitive to the RAM and you must use quality RAM, more experienced on these forums users use OWC (www.macsales.com) or critical (direct purchase). RAM should also be installed in pairs. If you purchased anything else, then after a report of EtreCheck of your system and we can look for obvious problems.

  • Very slow response OR Executive Panel Test Switch

    Hello

After you have installed the Developer Suite 2010 we have problems with the Switch Executive Virtual Device Test Panel. The problems has not been seen on old revisions.

The Test Panel takes about 3 minutes to initialize. This only happens after that MAX was launched and the Test Panel is used the first time.

In the attached example there is no committed material, the unit is in simulation mode.

The same slow response happens to TestStand when you try to select the virtual device. Responses of selection after about 6 minutes, means that it takes 6 minutes for a list of all virtual devices available in MAX.

I have attached the report of support of MAX, the configuration of the IVI, the export file SE virtual device and an example of TS.

Any help on this appreciated problem.

    Thank you

    Matthias

    Hi Eric,.

After you run the tool to remove the Corruption of database MAX Test Panel now works correctly and as expected.

Also MAX launches much faster now than before.

Thank you very much for your quick help and find the right solution.

  • Incompatible print cartridge error C309g.

Incompatible print cartridge error C309g. When replacing foul 564 XL (black), now I get this message. The new cartridge works in another printer that uses 564 XL. Went ahead and tried another brand new 564 XL - same message. Have turned printer on and outside. Is there a way to reoot, clean or otherwise set the printer before assuming it's really broken? Other suggestions?

UPDATE: this has been resolved with a hard reset. I found how to do this in another post (thanks bassergitz!). How to do a hard reset or 'dirty power up': when the printer is on, pull on the power cord to the printer and the wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to the wall and printer. It will take several minutes to initialize.

  • HP Premium 8600 - using OSX 10.9.4 with wireless and don't keep saying the printer is not connected

Use the printer for a few months with no problems.  Now, out of the blue, I can't print.  Keeps telling me that "the printer is not connected" and "search for printer.  I see that the printer's system preferences.  So the printer is there. Why is this suddenly happening?

If I disable wireless to the printer and then turn it back on, I can print maybe one or two times and then get the same message.

    What is the problem here?

    Hello

Please, try unplugging your router from the power for 10 seconds, plug it back and leave 2 minutes to initialize.

Then turn your printer off and turn it back on and allow it to reconnect.

    You can see any difference?

If this isn't the case, please also restart the Mac and check for the difference.

  • T61 screen flickered for awhile, now no backlight

    Hi all

My T61 widescreen began flashing a few weeks back, then a few minutes after the start, the backlight is out. I went to restart, but it came again dark. However, a light tap on the side of the cover has the backlight to the top, but it was released again in a few minutes, also rotating top down the lid caused the light only flashes on briefly, but not permanently. Tapping and turning is no longer effects. I can easily see the desltop with a flashlight and it all just seems like it should.

There is no "pink screen," I read here is a symptom of a bad backlight.

Thinking it may be mechanical, a bad connection (which is what the manul says check first), I removed the bezel cover and back of the front monitor, checked the main connection in the computer, but hesitate to sink into the side of the monitor in addition, because of all these "do not touch" stickers.

Any speculation on what is happening? Bad inverters causing flicker?

I am considering a new outboard monitor, something more grand, because I use the machine for graphics and 1440 x 900 is really a bit small.

Is there a type of big fight to connect my T61 to a second monitor? No constraint on the size or other specifications?

  • change my IP address

I'm changing the IP address on my P1505n, but I can't access the HP integrated web server to do this.  Can someone point me in the direction of a solution?

    Hello

    Try power cycling the devices:

Unplug the printer and the router from the power for 30 seconds, plug the router on and leave 2 minutes to initialize, then turn on the printer, allow a minute and check for the difference.

If it persists, try to unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back it both the printer and the router, so try to plug it into another port of the router.

If it persists, try another ethernet cable and check any change.

Please let me know the results,

  • HP Personal Media Drive - cannot get support

    Hello

I tried to look for a "soft" or etc. but has not found category. I hope that I write to the rgiht category.

I have a HP Personal Media Drive that I am attemptign to solve problems

    hd0000

    part # rf863aa

    500 GB capacity

The problem I have is when I connect the drive to the system, it says device not recognized USB. However, he keeps making connection/disconnection noise notise. Bing bing, do. Bing bing, do. He did this continuously until I have unplug the USB cord or power.

    I tried the following

I have tried 3 different PCs

I have tried 2 different cables

tried it on windows 7 as well as windows 8

I feel that it is a real problem with the drive itself. I tried disk management, but I know that because this prevents the disconnect/reconnect the disk and not can not connect successfully, it seems like there may be a problem of internal material with the reader.

My major problem is to get to this issue. Today I have the support of google # and looking for where to get help. I found this page

    Does not help very much

    I called this number

    1-800-474-6836 (1-800 HP INVENT)

I now at calle 4 times. I get a call centre in India. They tell me that I need to talk to the accessories Department.

I had transferred there and waited 20 minutes and hung up. So I called again. Once again, they me transferred.

I tried 35 + minutes, had somone on the phone. After spending 15 minutes to get all the part numbers, etc serial numbers - it was obvious that they then had no idea what to do, they still have me once I was in the bad service I was calling not to the United States and Canada.

They me transferred again and I was transferred to a number of key busy/false.

I called back once again, even once said that I needed to be transferred... not too impressed at this point.

Nobody has been able to give me the # direct I should call either. I'm really frusterated. Help, please?

This device has an external power supply, I would first of all that. Resist the ear and check the that continuous rotation.

If it's running, plug the USB to a rear port. It may take 5 minutes to initialize. If you hear click (s) and then no rotation continues, it's probably in bricks/dead.  HP offers no repair service out-of-warranty units. (1 year).

Disassembly (different flavors for different design cases). Adapter for the device.

  • Photosmart 7520: HP Photo smart 7520

I have a wireless network using a Linksys EA series router. The 7520 printer, a computer of windows7, a Macbook with Maverick computer, an iPad and 2 Android phones. When I first put in place, I could print all devices, but now I can't print from any of them. The printer indicates that it is connected to the router and the router says it is connected to the printer, but none of the devices cannot find the printer. I can only print using a direct connection. I need to print wireless again. What should I do?

    Hello

Try to reboot the router by unplugging its power for a few seconds.

Leave 1-2 minutes to initialize and restart the printer, then check any change.

If the same persistence, make sure that the printer is located near your router, but not less than 2 metres long... too close or far away places can cause problems with wireless connection.

Please let me know if this can help,

    Shlomi
