2nd memory slot PC portable HP 2000 bf69WM

I bought 2 of these laptops for my daughters and they say there are 2 slots for memory.  When I pop the cover on the back, I see that the a slot that is currently busy.  For the life of me I can't find the empty location.  Does anyone have a diagram to show where is this elusive 2nd slot?  I don't think I need to remove the back cover together.

Thank you

Dave

Hi, Dave:

Here is the link to the service manual for the PC:

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03550054.PDF

When I look at the picture in Chapter 3, page 14, I see what seems to be two modules of memory superimposed to another, which may be why it is hard to see the second slot.

Chapter 4 presents the R & R of the procedures for the memory modules.

I tried to upgrade my iMac in early 2008 by adding a 2nd memory card in slot 2 with a correct map of OWC. also badly hit by installing Apple's original card for slot 2 & OWC in slot 1. When a card is installed in slot 2 the hard drive just repeatedly whirs & stops in quick succession. I tried the compressed air for the eruption of dust. Either card works well in location 1.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - second defective memory Slot?

Hi, I'm trying to install 4 GB of memory in a laptop Satellite Pro L300. This kind of thing, I did a thousand times before.

However, every time I install a module of memory in the second memory slot, the laptop will be a blue screen when windows is loaded. Even running memtest (via bootable cd) will result in a block, so it is not for lack of Windows.

I have the latest version of the BIOS installed (1.50)

Each module of memory works perfectly in the main location on its own.

With the help of a single module of memory in the memory secondary slot (even the original 1 GB module) translates the laptop does not even start.

Is this a known issue? Or is it just a second faulty slot?

    Thank you very much!

Maybe it's a non compatible memory module.

What model of laptop you have exactly (L300-xxx)?
    What extra RAM you bought?
    Have you checked the compatibility?

To be honest on this forum you will find many forums where people have described the same problem after upgrade. Most of these problems described was linked to the use of markets and not compatible good RAM modules.

  • Memory slot Equium M50-164 sites

    Hello

I have the Equium M50-164 and I was wondering if the locations are intended to upgrade memory. I found one that at the bottom of the laptop and I can't find the location of the other.

    Anyone knows where the other?
    Thank you.

    Hello

The laptop support certainly two memory slots and the two slots are extensible.
From my own experience it possible s the second slot is hidden under the first memory module. If you could see the other location if the first module of memory would be removed.

I hope that this is the case on the M50 model

  • Problems of replacement of Windows 8 with Windows 7 on a laptop HP 2000-bf69WM

I just bought a laptop HP 2000 - bf69WM during the Black Friday at Wal-Mart last night sale. This morning, I pulled and he went right to the trying to repair right out of the box. I managed to get him to stop and I went to system restore and managed to get it started. Needless to say, I'm not at all impressed with Windows 8. I've heard of all the problems users have had with it. I tried to install Windows 7 on it, but it will not be installed. The BIOS shows Windows 8 as the operating system. How can I dump this CRAP of Windows 8 and install Windows 7 on this computer. It is not a bad machine, I wouldn't get rid of him during another screw up Microsoft.

try to remove the disc of windows 7 on reboot and put it back in after the windows 7 logo too good luck finding the network always in trouble with drivers.

  • Satellite L300-171 - defective memory slot

    Hello, Toshiba users!

I am the proud owner of a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300-171, purchased last year.
one of my memory locations stoped work 4 weeks ago.

This model comes with 3 GB of DDR2 667 MHz RAM. Now it shows me only 2 GB.
I swapped the modules between them (I thought that maybe the 1 GB module not working not) and I have 1 GB of memory. Thus, the two RAM modules work. It's the slot.

You know any reason why this could happen during the night? (perhaps a CMOS setting or something).

And is it true that memory slot can access 2 GB of memory?

I have the same operating system as it came with: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Thank you very much for any answer

    Each issue goes unexpectedly

I have an old... my laptop is about 8 years old... The RAM slot died after 5 years of use I think the higher internal temperature might be one of the reasons why this slot could damage

In my case, the laptop crashed. I removed a faulty slot RAM module and everything worked properly.
The old RAM modules were 512 MB now I ve got a 1 GB of RAM in a housing and the second is empty

  • Satellite 3000 - x 4: this model has how many memory slots?

    Hello

I have a question on this model of Toshiba Satellite 3000 - x 4 PS301E - 000 K 8 - EN I took the chassis on this model today to do a repair for someone in my family work. When I took the VGA card, I discovered what looked like an another memory location.
So my question is how many slots memory model there?

I read online and I checked the profile page and they all point to this model with two memory locations.
If this is the case then what is this thing that resembled a memory slot under the vga card?
I had to buy another piece of RAM for this model today make three, but I decided on a little hand to check it out first.

There are already two sticks of laptop memory already, 512 MB, and 128 MB. This model can take up to 1 GB.
So, what do you think is there memory locations two or three on this model?

    Thank you

    Hello

  • Satellite Pro 4600: 2nd RAM slot inactive - how can I activate it?

    Hello!
A few days ago, I bought a Pro 4600 opportunity with 2 x 128 MB of RAM. Two of them are working - but not together! Only the slot A working and accepting both Rams when I insert them. The user who I bought the laptop told me that they worked before it was erased from the system.

    How can I activate it?

Thank you very much in advance,

    Flo.

    Hello

It s not necessary to enable the second memory slot.
After you have installed the memory module slot should accept the module and it must be shown in the BIOS.
The two modules of work in the first place. In this case, both are ok and not in default. It is also possible to upgrade memory 256 MB.
Well, in my opinion, the second slot memory is dead.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to see :(

You can put 2 x 4 GB DIMMS in the empty slots, this will give you a total of 12 GB. iMacs are very sensitive to the RAM, it is best to buy RAM from reliable sources like Crucial (direct purchase) or OWC OWC RAM

    Hello

The second slot recognized different memory modules?
You could definitely upgrade the memory on this laptop up to 2 GB!
If a single location must be able to recognize a 1024MB module.

I suggest you first check the compatibility with the module because there might be a malfunction of the motherboard (slot), or you try to use the module is not compatible.
    You have to eliminate a!

To my knowledge, this laptop supports PC2700 DDR - RAM and 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G) module should work!

  • G7-2235dx - memory Slot defective/made not climb in memory Slot

Recently I bought a package of 4 GB of DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 for my laptop. I received it today and progressed to install after the direcitons given to the user of my laptop manual. But never well switched memory. It seems that the retention clips are not long enough, or there is something blocking the module to go fully into the slot of memory. I found that odd. After finding out that memory does not fit in the slot, I removed the HP factory memory module, it is the crack and tried to put it in the slot of the replacement part or defective. Also, there is no good. Just for clarification, I tested the memory purchased in the slot of the workign and memory works perfectly. I wonder what could be the problem with my memory slot.

I called HP support and they said it would cost me $290 for the slot to be repaired. I find it a lot since I paid $300 for the laptop itself.

    Any help is apprechiated.

A motherboard itself is going to be at least $ 125. There is work. Of course, it does not. I put 4 gigs in it in the a good slot and just use it.

  • Pavilion 17-G084ca: Y at - it a 2nd HD slot in the Pavilion 17-G084ca

Just bought this new laptop, like it a lot, only concern is the somewhat slow HD, want to add a SSD hard drive, so need be sure that there is a 2nd HD slot before I opened the cover, seems that it is not easy to open for this model LOL...

There is only one hard drive Bay. See the manual here:

    Manual, p. 36

It is not an easy task to access the hard drive Bay, but can be done. An SSD would be a valid upgrade and is probably a requirement to have a usable on these models, but the process computer is probably best done by an experienced technician. The warranty is a problem. If the computer is messed up in the process HP will void the warranty but if you remove the guarantee still applies.
