2nd screen duplicate of the external monitor no longer works

I used a 2nd external monitor [TV] for many years, my duplication laptop screen. All of a sudden the TV screen will not appear anything but a black screen with the PC on this subject. In the customization, it indicates that the external monitor is connected.  If I go into display settings - settings-list all the modes-it doesn't show that 63 hz 60 Hz I front of tip - what happened & how to repair my external screen 2nd at work?

Dpon can't forget to set the TV to the input matches the output on your computer.

Try these:

1. press on the keyboard shortcut that turns on an additional display.

The FN + F5 keyboard shortcut is used for this purpose on many laptops. To determine what keyboard shortcut turns on another view, see the documentation that came with your mobile PC or go to the manufacturer's Web site. On my HP laptop, it's the F4 key, there two image from monitor on it.

2. open Windows Mobility Center by clicking the Start button, click on the Panel, clicking Mobile PC, and then click Mobility Center Windows.

Then, on the external display tile, click Connect display.

You can also click on the button "Activate" on the presentation settings tile.

3. turn on the dual display
Make a click right on the desktop, Graphics Options, Output To, Dual Display Clone, notebook + monitor (it may vary I use a HP laptop).

  • 2nd T510 external monitor no longer works

    Hey guys,.

I hope someone can help me

Coming into work with my T510 and inserted on my Lenovo to home station type 4338. For over 2 years now, I had to work with 2 external monitors and also the built in display of the laptop. Now I can only get the built in monitor and monitor 2 (VGA on the docking station) for display.

It detects the 3rd monitor but when I try to extend to it, everything goes black and I have to wait that it to expire or pop the laptop off the station and put it on.

If I try to select just the 2 external monitors and close the lid of the laptop has only monitor 2 screens and monitor 3 disconnects automatically.

3 Monitor connects using a Display Port to VGA

I tried 2 other monitors, the same results. I tried DVI, and it makes no difference. I tried 2 different docking stations the same results and I even reinstalled the Windows 8.1 on the laptop in hopes that would solve the issue, but it didn't.

I know this can work because I had it before. And the fact that I can't get 2 external references to display on the screen of the laptop closed is a sign that something is happening.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions I hope to come!

    I could solve the problem.

For some reason my BIOS should have started just Intels intergrated GPU. I had to boot to the BIOS and change the video setting Optimus, I think that's what it's called.

Once the change has been made Windows 8.1 has been able to install the drivers automatically, knit another reboot and all monitors.

I hope this helps someone in the future!

  • External monitor does not work on Vista of Tecra M7

My external LCD monitor connected with analog cable doesn't work on my Tecra M7 with Win Vista and latest driver downloaded today on this site to display. Display of Windows Mobility center see the trendy, office is extended to the second screen and Windows display settings dialog box shows the correct resolution of the external LCD. But there is no image on an external monitor (with the 'no signal' message just after turn on the monitor).

Any changes to the display (resolution, type of display (mirror, second screen, primary/secondary)) the settings do not work.
Monitor works fine with my old laptop and Windows XP.
If I restart my computer M7 laptop with connected external display I see loading messages and windows on external monitor logo and after that I see only painted while internal lcd to my laptop is black and I can't move at all internal lcd in this case (only restarting with external display disconnected works in this case).

    Hello

Did assign the external monitor as the main screen in the graphics properties?
I think you did this due to the fact that the Toshiba splash screen appears on the external monitor.

But just moment please. The Tecra M7 was delivered with Win XP Pro tablet edition and not Vista.
Have you installed it you own hand?

I guess that everything worked running Win XP
Maybe you should try to remove the graphics driver Vista system and use one from the 3rd site like www.laptopvideo2go.com

  • Tecra M3: black screen on startup, the vertical lines on the external monitor

    Hi all

I searched a lot on the Internet for a solution to this specific problem, I have, but did not find a thread
with exactly the same problem. I have a Toshiba Tecra M3 with Windows XP SP 3. Two weeks ago, I encountered problems with the commissioning. After a couple of times to restart it would work. Then it became worse... When I try to run I see no splash... the screen remains black. If I press the power button, I hear the fan and CD player but no screen. It is totally black. I know its working because I can go (blindly) in the installation program. Press end, and then press Y and enter. The computer will restart but still no screen.

I plugged it to an external monitor. Pressing Fn and F5 allows switching. The external monitor shows different
vertical lines in multiple colors. They change if I go to settings or you try to start windows.

Does anyone have a solution to these problems?

I have fear of solution can be given by the service only.
In my view, this question must be tested properly.

I can't say for sure, but to me that sounds like a technical question. Without testing you will know for sure what is the problem.
Here on the forum we can only speculate why this happen.

As you can see on notebooka? s LCD problem. On external it doesnâ? t properly work as well. It may be a faulty graphics card.
Try to contact the nearest authorized Toshiba service and speak with the technician.

    Hi mate

I recommend using the FN + F5 key combination
You can use it to switch to output the external monitor or TV.
This key combination supports several options:
    -screen internal + external display
    -external display only
    -TV out
    -etc...

You have to press FN + F5 several times in order to get the right output.

  • Satellite M30X-111 screen does not display anything but the external monitor works

My laptop just screen does not display anything (like when the computer is turned off), but when I connect the external monitor, then the desktop is displayed on this screen. I tried to recover the laptop using the recovery disk and it worked again, but today, it stopped working again.

Again, I must plug the external monitor, and after I tried to restart, I continue to pressing F8 but the startup mode is not come, the noise of when you press a button for too long beeps, however, the monitor of the laptop working again.

How can I solve this problem?

What do you do? You want to recover the laptop?
If Yes, you n press any F8 but you will need to boot from the recovery CD by pressing the C key immediately after starting the laptop.

But this question seems that you have accidentally switched to external display.
I recommend checking the Fn + F5 option. This combination allow you to switch between the display and the external monitor.

  • Help! Aspire 5735 laptop with broken screen does not recognize external monitor after the factory restore

I have an ACER Aspire 5735, running horrible Vista that never worked from the beginning, always locked up, media player never worked, on, on, and after about a year my dog took in the power cord and threw out of the table and the broken screen. I used it with an external monitor for a while, but it was even worse after that and after that he take to get fixed yet has proceeded to run super slow, always locked up, refused to stop or start upward normally, and so he sat in a closet for about 3 years.

I took it out a week ago to see if I could at least use it for my kids to friends to play on, but that she still had so many questions, I decided to do a factory restore. And of course the recovery disks that I did when I got it do not work and are not yet recognized by the computer. So I went online and has used a method that I found there by rebooting and hitting the keys ALT F10 until I was at the factory reset option. It worked GREAT! Except once the computer has restarted and opened up to windows deleted monitor and I can't do anything with the computer because apparently it does not recognize that it is hooked to an external monitor on the restore to factory settings! Help!

She does not recognize the monitor as it has been restarted and was even the windows start the display of the icon, but as soon as it loads the screen becomes black with just the graphics "monitor is on but not connected to what either" floating around.

Is it possible to access something in the BACK or other so he could recognize the external monitor?  What is finally toast?

Connect the external monitor to the laptop.

Hold down the FN key and press the F4 key. Check if you get a display on the external monitor.

  • Compaq presario cq42 screen becomes black when the external monitor is unplugged

Compaq presario cq42-137tu running windows 7 32 bit.

I've been using a connected external display on the vga port and now every time I disconnect the monitor and restart the laptop the laptop LCD screen will display the original message of compaq and the black windows boot screen with the logo but then turns off. If I reconnect the extrnal monitor it will work fine (even if the external monitor is turned off)

The screen of the laptop works fine without the external monitor connected in safe mode.

I used both the HP support and the setting in the display panel to select single monitor and set the display on the screen of the laptop, but every time that the external monitor is not connected the screen turns off. The external screen does not need to be turned on, just to connect to the laptop monitor work. I also tried to download the graphics driver and put it back.

If your laptop is a ComPaq base model then there is the (built-in) Intel UMA / GMA 4500 M - GL40 chipset with video memory sharing and you should consider downloading and installing the driver Intel graphics high definition (HD).

  • Black screen after on native screen only hp logo, but the external monitor is ok

    Hello everyone. HP Pavilion dv9700.

The graphics card has been burned, and I ordered the new motherboard of eBay and replaced it.

    The problem is:

When I turn on the unit, the native screen flashes once the HP logo then it becomes black. If I unplug the video cable and connect the external monitor, it works perfectly. The same thing with remote access. I start with a blank screen, and I can connect remotely to the laptop.

What did I miss? where to look for potential problems?

the problem has a link between motherboars and display.  I could see the screen by moving the display cable. Maybe it's because the poor quality of the motherboard, I bought

Sorry, I forgot to mention my hw: Satellite a100-02 b (geforce go 7600)

.. and when I reboot Vista behaves a little bit strange.
a few seconds, everything looks ok, but then it redefines the external monitor to 16-bit color and minimum Vfrequency (60 HZ)
and a message appears that the 'Desktop Manager' was closed due to a problem.

    Maybe it's because...
    (1) it is an old CRT, not especially known (standard pnp driver)?
    (2) the ability of the graphics card vista is not sufficient in this configuration?

I heard somewhere that there is a switch in the registry, which disables the dwm.exe test, if the material is
able to support the aero technologies. What is a way to fix it?

    Hello

I read about the registry hack that allows the function Aero Vista on graphics cards that are generally not able to manage the Aero feature.
But I don t think that the modified registry key might help with this problem!

In any case, I try to understand what you were doing on the laptop
You have turned on the display on the second external monitor, then you have changed the position of the screen (you turn the display) and you tried to use the Aero on the external monitor.
    Am I wrong?

Well, what to say, it s not easy to say if she s a problem or just a limitation of Vista Aero.
I have never tested or used Aero after the display has been set at another position.

I think you should test Aero on external monitor without rotation.

  • Issue using the external monitor.

I was given an external monitor that I could connect to my laptop.  I forgot the keys I had hit to use the external monitor.  I got disabling it on the screen that turned my monitor on the laptop.  I can't find a way to re - turn on the monitor.  I can't have anything other than a white one on my laptop screen.  I would really appreciate how to turn my monitor on the laptop.  All information would be welcomed.  Thank you-dukey41

    Hello

Check with the manufacturer of the laptop's support, their books online and ask in their forums.
Some have special tools/methods to control one 2nd monitor other than Windows,

Right click on the desktop - properties Graphics

Right click on desktop - graphics Options

Right click on desktop - customize - display settings

These should help you to implement and control.

  • Half the Office disappears when you unplug the external monitor

I have a MacBook (early 2011) with a single office shared between two monitors - with one hand on the internal screen and the other half on a Dell 23 inch. The Dell is my first when I use both at the same time. Until a few months ago, when I unplugged the external monitor, all windows automatically appears in the monitor to the laptop, including the menu bar and dock.

After an operating system upgraded a few dos systems (I'm on version of El Capitan.6), when I unplug the screen seems not to register - in other words, the left side of my office, including the menu bar and the dock, and all the apps that were there just to disappear. So my laptop seems to think that the other view is always connected and direct, unless I restart with the detached monitor. (I unchecked 'Displays have separated spaces') in Mission Control.

Is that what I can do to force the Office to redesign the internal screen? (Note that the display is a Dell S2330MX, which seem not to support any Mac OS - so who could answer the question here.) Thank you

I've known who issues from time to time, try to close and reopen the lid, which needs to redraw your office.
