2nd System Partition is not available and I don't have A Vista DVD or CD the day I bought my desktop computer.

My system does not have a recovery partition which is accessible and I don't have the DVD to recover my system.  I bought my computer the day Vista came out and wanted the XP but the store would not give me an our sell me an XP cd or dvd.  I've was stuck with Vista and was not even given a DVD in case of system failure.

Hello

Normally, the recovery on a system partition is accessible by using a F key at the start of the initial system. For the corresponding key or combination of keys, see the documentation for your system or online from the manufacturer support.

If you need a recovery media, you will need to contact the manufacturer for such. Do not use a retail disk as often, they do not contain the necessary drivers for the owner builder systems.

    Hi Asdlfjasdfjlasdf,

How did you install ServicePack initially?

You can try to start safe mode and try to perform a system restore.

    Step 1:

For a safe boot, you can follow the below given steps:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    2. do one of the following:

    a. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    b. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. in the display Advanced Startup Options, use the arrow keys to select the option of safe mode you want and press ENTER. For more information about the options, see startup options (including safe mode).

4 log your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

When your computer is in safe mode, you will see marked Safe Mode in the corners of the screen. To leave safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

If you are able to boot to the desktop in safe mode try doing a restore of the system at a point when the computer was working fine.

For more information on Safe Mode, follow the link below:

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next

  • I changed my computer working group at the computer at home and I don't have password now to open xp. Is my death now of computer for good?

That's about all. I bought the computer used off someone and he was placed in the mode of group, had no problem. I went there in computer mode at home after using it for years and now I can't go past the password and I don't know. I do not have a xp disk again the software and I'm just wondering if there is a way for me to never come back, or should I throw it in Lake Michigan.

It seems that if you have fallen into the trap described in the following Microsoft KB article:

"You can not connect after you remove the computer from the domain.

To make things worse, you have no restore media or you know the login of the user local administrator password. (Not unusual for a computer connected to the domain).  You skate on thin ice throughout uses a password cached for years and finally went through.  At the risk of denying some lucky fish in Lake Michigan a free condo, there is a way that you should be able to recover if your system restore has been activated before the crash.

First of all, you need to start your machine from a Bootable CD.  You can create one of these for free on another computer.  You can try using Linux Livecd such as Knoppix or try to use a Windows-based rescue CD as freeware Hirens Boot CD.  Whatever way you go, start your computer from this CD.  You then use this system to locate a backup copy of your registry on your hard drive.  You should find one in the following folder:
    C:\System Volume Information\_restore {xxxxxxx...} \RPxxx\snapshot
Where the s "xxx" refers to the random semi.  Find the directory "RPxxx" just before your blunder.  You will find then five files that constitute the register: in the folder above, they will be called: _REGISTRY_MACHINE_SAM, _REGISTRY_MACHINE_SECURITY, _REGISTRY_MACHINE_SOFTWARE, _REGISTRY_MACHINE_SYSTEM, _REGISTRY_USER_. BY DEFAULT.

You need to COPY (important: do not MOVE) these five folders for your:
    C:\Windows\System32\Config
Directory.  After you do this, you will find the corresponding registry files (SAM, SECURITY, SYSTEM, SOFTWARE, by default) in the same Config directory.  Just rename these files from the existing registry (for example, by adding ".bak" in their name) and then rename the files _REGISTRY_ for the files that you just rename.

Reboot your machine, you should get back to where you were.  If you succeed, you must do two things immediately.  First, create a user local administrator privileges, so that you can yourself bail next time and, second, to make a formal "System Restore" to the last restore point before your problem.  It also wouldn't hurt to change the password for the user: "Administrator" for something, you will know now.

A more problematic procedure of Microsoft essentially describes the following steps.  If you follow the instructions in Microsoft, boot from the CD to start above and repeat the procedure in part 2, step 6, using GUI to move/rename the files instead of the command prompt.

"How do I recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP startup"

... and if all else fails, just install Linux on the machine ;-)...
or you can also check to see if you have a recovery partition, which you can use to reinstall Windows.  Find a key, press the first splash screen when you start.

    Good luck

You mean reinstall the OS completely? If you have Vista DVD you can do, however, make sure
totally your data out of the backup drive and you need to reinstall your programs. If you do not
have Vista discs, you can buy them in your machine to cheap system. If you don't care about any existing
programs, then you can make a complete new installation - just select the format options that wipes the
entire disk (This erases all data as well).

Some system manufacturers use Partitions of recovery as well as other methods to allow you to return back
for a completely new installation. So check with your system manufacturer to see what options you need
do that - and it can certainly be done - just a question of the system machine processes
    in place for you.

How to get Vista recovery Media

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
