Very slow connection to the LAN on my Tecra M1
Hi all
I use a Toshiba Tecra M1 1 .6GHz, Win XP.
I found that there is a problem with the connection to the local network. It is very slow. I takes about 5 minutes to download 1 MB. It's really a lot of time if I want to download and update some software over the internet.
I also have an office. It is quite a bit old but the connection to the local network is much faster than my laptop; for example, I downloaded Windows Mediaplayer 10 - about 12 MB by using desktop and laptop at the same time to compare, the Office has taken 2-3 minutes while the laptop ate more than 20 minutes. I switched the cable between the office and cell phones, but it did not help.
We know the problem and the solution?
Much thanks.
Hello
Nick is on the right track. Who knows what runs in the background and applications who wants to access the internet. I recommend you to use the tool called Zone alarm. On this way, you will have full control over the applications that want to access the internet.

Delete a few files TEMP this morning and AOL and Firefox no longer works. AOL will again and removed all traces of the first installation of Firefox and downloaded a new version of Firefox. The program opens, but it immediately goes into a status of "not responding" and appears in the tab 'connection '. Cannot click on anything on the Firefox screen. Need to go to the Task Manager to kill the program. Have removed and reinstalled several times. Disconnected the firewall and antivirus. Again and always get the same result. Tried in safe mode. Same result. Going on 8 hours of work on this thing. Need help badly. The system is a version update of XP.
Thank you all, but I gave up. Tried all the suggestions without success. Put at disposal of the HDD with Windows XP and the problem of Firefox and loaded Windows 7 on a new drive. I had saved a file backup Favorites from the XP machine and successfully migrate the new hard drive. Thanks again.

Very slow connection on the WRT610N
I bought a brand new WRT610N recently but didn't experience any improvement in speed, therefore began to study a little.
I have a broadband cable, 30 Mbps connection.
Cable modem is connected to a network adapter.
An another output-power adapter is connected to the WRT610N
now, when I connect my laptop through the router (wired or wireless makes no difference), my (upc speedtest) speed is about 5 Mbps.
When I connect to the internet via cable to uplink on the router, I have 12 Mbps.
When I connect directly to the cable modem, I have 28 Mbps.
So, a big loss is caused by food taken thingies, I can get more quickly those who or stop using them at all. But what causes the loss of the router? All I can do about it? It shouldn't give me easily the 12 Mbit/s, it becomes itself?
Any help appreciated.
If connect you your computer to the WRT610N, you should be able to get on the same 28 Mbps you get from your cable modem. Since you get only 5 to 12 Mbps wired, this suggests that there is probably a problem of basic configuration.
(1) have updated the firmware on the router? If so, after the update of the firmware, you reset the default router, and then configure the router again from scratch? If you do not reset the router by default since the last update of the firmware, then please do it now and see if it solves your problem. If you have saved a file of configuration of the router, DO NOT use it - you must configure the router again from scratch. See "Reset to Factory Defaults" below.
(2) using peer-to-peer (P2P) software? If so, it is a known cause of slowdowns of router and disconnections. The problem can occur even if you are not currently running the P2P software. Stop using the P2P software. It may take up to 5 days for your router erase from his memory.
If the above does not solve your router, then proceed as follows:
(3) Please indicate your ISP
(4) Please indicate the make and exact model of your modem (not the WRT610N) number.
(5) Please do the following test:
Put your entire network. Using an ethernet cable, connect your modem directly to your computer. (Do not use the WRT610N for this test). Turn on the modem and the computer. Make sure you have an active Internet connection, then go ahead with what follows: (even if your Internet connection does not work, include this and move forward.)
Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig/all" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key. Copy all results in your next post. To make the copy, highlight the results, and then use the keys copy (Ctrl-c) and paste (Ctrl-v) keys. If your "IP address" does not begin with 192.168, then for security reasons, delete the latter half of your IP address.Reset to factory settings *.
To reset your router by default, follow these steps:
(1) turn off all computers, the router and the modem and disconnect from the wall.
(2) disconnect all the wires of the router.
(3) turn on the router and let it start up completely (1-2 minutes).
(4) press in and hold the reset for 30 seconds button, then release it, then let the router reset and restart (2-3 minutes).
(5) turn the router.
(6) connect a computer cable to port 1 of the router (NOT to the internet port).
(7) turn on the router and let it start up completely (1-2 minutes).
(8) the power of the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it's off).
(9) try ping on the router. To do this, click the 'Start' button > all programs > Accessories > command prompt. A black DOS window will appear. Enter the following text: "ping 192.168.1.1" (without the quotes) and press the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that begin with ' response to... ". "or"Request timed out". If you see "reply from...". ", your computer has found your router.
(10) open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to the login page of your router. Leave the user name blank and in the password field, enter "admin" (without the quotes). This will take you to your router configuration page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually found near upper right corner of the screen). Exit your browser. If you get this day without problem, try the Setup disk (or configure the router manually, if you prefer) and see if you can get your work and router configuration.
If you can not ' response to... ". "in step 9 above, your router is probably dead. A report with this problem
If you get a response in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, is that your router is dead or the firmware is damaged. Related to this issue.
If you need additional help, please give the results of steps 9 and 10. In addition, if you receive error messages, copy them exactly, and report.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

Why firefox doesn't do content XML like the other browsers?
I am learning AJAX and PHP and have problems with certain exercises. The .php file renders fine in Chrome and Edge (in folding tree), but not in Firefox. See attachments. What could be the cause of this (mis) behavior?
It seems that Firefox isn't finding your XSL stylesheet or does not apply to it.
Can you provide a link to your PHP page so someone could take a look?

About 1 year ago, I helped set up Firefox on my mother's computer. It worked fine until a couple of days. Now, he is more connected to the internet. The system is Windows XP, service pack 3. Internet Exporer connects to the Internet on this computer. Also, I have another computer with Firefox and it works without problem, wireless. We tried to remove Firefox and then reload and which did not help. We receive no error message. Internet and Firefox simply do not seem to see each other.
Sounds like a firewall issue, seems to affect

Hello
You should enable the option called Ad-hoc to peer option in your WLan settings!
Go to network connections
Select connections-> properties-wireless
Add the new network
Here you must configure this (insert SSID, encryption, and password), and don t forget to check this is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network -

Reset has been performed without any effect. Other browsers work fine. The firewall is configured correctly and no potentially conflicting software has been installed recently. The computer is generally clean from malware, without malicious modules have been found.Firefox refuses to load everything except on: * tabs. I type in an address, press ENTER, firefox starts loading for a split moment, removes the address quickly and does nothing. No error message, no inaccessible Web site, no 404, just to clear the address bar and remains on the start page (which is always the default firefox one). I tried to access LAN and remote Web sites, I tried feeding the raw IP - same effect, firefox start indicate loading for approximately 750ms, then deletes the address and don't forget that never asked.
How can I fix it?
Hello, please try to delete all entries from firefox to your firewall rules and let it detect the new version of browser again.
