4402 wireless Controller - Source of IP Communications - what is - this?

My client has a controller 4402, which seems to be at the origin of a TCP request on the port of 2006.

Their edge router blocks the communication with an acl.

Here are two entries in the router log:

Apr 26 16:30:55: % s-6-IPACCESSLOGP: list of inside denied tcp 192.168.1.5 (2006)-> 66.227.171.165 (64344), 3 sachets

Apr 26 16:32:55: % s-6-IPACCESSLOGP: list refused tcp 192.168.1.5 (2006)-> 124.115.11.71 (42315), 6 packs of college

192.168.1.5 is the management on the controller interface.

The destination is not always the same.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thank you

Fred

What is the virtual IP address?

Definitely looks like this bug then it comes in from the IP Address of the service:

CSCsw93671 Packets from the service port sent by wlc when not connected

It has not yet been resolved.

Is it possible to config only 1 GB to 4402 controller LAN connection. Or should I use two connectors Go?

Because I have only 1 GB free on my switch port.

    Hi René,.

You can use the port that a single concert for you to connect to the switch. 2 ports can be used if you want por tchannel switch and you want your controller to work with a LAG.

But you can simply connect 1 port switch to the controller and configuring manamenet and interface ap - manager link to a physical port depending on what you are using.

  • 4402 wireless controller and the 1130AG access points

I have a bunch of 1130AG (35) and 1231 points of access. I just bought a controller 4402 so I could handle these much easier access points. I currently have the offline access points, so I could control. With the wireless in the mix controller, that I have to fix these to light mode or can I leave them offline.

We know not the operating instructions so I can leave them in stand-alone mode. Most of them is in the rafters in our warehuse, and I didn't have to pull of these if I have to. If I can use them offline, how can I do that?

    Thanks much for any info!

    Dave

    Hi Dave,.

    A WLC manages autonomous APs.
So if you want to centralize the management of your APs through the WLC, you will need to convert it to light and enter them on the WLC.

To convert the lightweight access points, you can choose between several options:

    1. thanks to a specific upgrade tool that you could install on a PC:
    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/partner/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/LWAPP/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html

    2. [the most evolutionary] by WCS, with a model of migration that could apply to several APs:
    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/WCS/7.0/Configuration/Guide/7_0apcfg.html#wp1054876

    3. [not in any book] by the following steps:
3 (a) download the CEC lwapp recovery image and store it on a TFTP server.
3 (b) Telnet to the stand-alone PA and issuing the following command:
    Archive Download-sw / overwrite/reload tftp: / // [lwapp recovery image file path]

As a general recommendation, before to convert the lightweight access points, you can be sure that the wired infrastructure behind is ready to direct them to the WLC for recording.
It's suggestions explained in the link on the above option #1.

    Hope this helps,

    Fede

  • Upgrade of Cisco Wireless Controller 4402

We have a 4402 WLAN controller with a bunch of AP in 6 locations. The software is installed on a Windows Server 2003 server - since our society must be in accordance with various compliance agencies, we are in the process of getting rid of all 2003 servers in our infrastructure as they will be supported are more early next year.

I created a new server (2012 R2) and tried to install, but get the error that it is only supported on Server 2003 or Red Hat.

Is there a way to get this installed on one different platform other than 2003?

    Thank you!

Yes, you can keep the same equipment (WLCs and AP).

I was just saying about upgradation WCS to the CNS / prime infrastructure

NCC/WCS are just a management for wireless LAN controllers APs. so if you change the WCS to the CNS, then it will affect any service.

  • Battery wireless controller

OK, I admit, I am not too clear, but this is the first time that I have been unable to figure out how to install a battery. I just got a camcorder VIXIA HF G30 and was beaten by the wireless controller battery compartment. No matter what I try, I can't get access to insert the battery. You would be grateful for the help, thanks.  Ted

    Hello tevans9129,

The WL - D89 uses a CR2025 button-type battery.  It is located behind the battery tray which slides down.  To open, hold the remote in the right hand (covered on his back) and hang the nail of your left index finger in the small lot, which acts as a spring and pull toward you.  At the same time, use your right thumb nail to pull down the battery broke.  This will allow you to change the battery.

  • 2504 versus 3850 wireless controller

We are just beginning to look at wireless on our secure networks. We have a 2504 and some WAP 36xx but never installed. We also ordered a couple of 38xx WAP and group the 3850 templates which included the wireless controller. We plan use our Cisco ACS with CERT and AD for authentication.

We're finally going wireless at several sites of fiber attached if cela pans.

To save time by going down the wrong path, I have some basic questions to ask.

My questions are... what (2504 versus 3850 WC) approach is better?   I know the 3850 series may have mulitgibit connections to WAP with the newest 3850 model x, which can be a more thereafter. I also don't know the process of how data is placed the user wireless via the WAP to the local network. Data must tunnel through a tunnel of IPSEC for the 2504 and then placed on the local network to the location of 2504?  Or is this just tunnel for authentication and wired LAN between WAP and switch allows direct data flow?   We have a few wireless on our network, but we use a totally different method.

What bothers me is that if there is a certain wireless access to a corporate network and servers I think 1 GB for the WAP connection could be a bootleneck... esp if the data can not be placed right on the local network to the WAP connection to the switch.

A 3850W model controls the only devices on the local stack or it may go beyond this restriction too? I mean, it's can support 3850W THAT connected to another WAP stack too?

I would not use the 3850 unless your environment is weak, that being said, the 3850 and the AP must be on 3850 or 3650 in your environment. I'd go with the 2504 his stable and you will not regret it :)

  • Wireless controller Cisco 526 & AP AIR-AP521G-A-K9-Question

    Hello

We have several AP 521 in our headquarters main building as well as our remote branches, totalling about 16 AP, four in our main headquarters office and one in each brachh distance.    All AP at this moment are stand-alone devices.

We are contemplating centralized management of ALL our AP devices implementing this controller 526, where we can handle easy to access list of mac or other parameters.

Here are my questions based on reading some documents based on 526 controllers:

    1. I undersland these models AP and 526 controller model are EOL, - what are these end of Support - at this time we are not planing to migrate to the new AP devices yet, maybe in 2-3 years on the road, but definatetly SmartNET is a must on these.

    2. for 526 be able to handle any device of AP, is the peripheral access point must be converted on KNEES, is that correct?

    3. as I read, 526 controller can support up to 6 devices AP 521, if this is the case for example... I can say install a 526 to the main AC controller which has only FOUR peripheral wireless AP and be able to manage also the 2 more devices AP of REMOTE offices that are not directly connected to main office switches HQ but to have connectivity that are across our links WAN MPLS or (wireless AP) should be directly connected to the LAN so that the 526 be able to manage devices, if possible, then that would allow me to implement 3 526 controllers in the HQ Office to handle all 16 devices AP of our entire company... Please correct me if that's not true.

    4. and finally, for example, say I have MAC ACL applied to each AP devices, now with the 526 controller if we go about using centralized management would be that I could create a MAC acl and indicate to the Scheduler to propagate the ACL to the devices all THE AP which are under its management?

    Thank you for your help

However, remember that if you are MPLS connection goes down, you lose connectivity, so it is a design decision to make.
