• The Acer M3641 will have a standard ATX power supply? My power supply is dead.

  My M3641 does not start and it seems to be dead while it is turned off.  It was plugged and it started sparking and make loud pop.  I see no signs of a short circuit or damage the inside of the case, but I did not remove or open the power supply.  I think to replace, but I can't find all the information on the sites of Acer which would specify if a standard ATX PSU would work or if there are installation instructions I need.  Does anyone out there know about this?  Thank you.

  OK, no answer here yet, so I had to make a decision.  I bought a ThermalTake TR2 430W ATX PSU (also shown on their Web site as W0070) and I replaced the power supply in my M3641.  It cost me $25 (after discount) at a local TigerDirect store (CompUSA was.)  I was shocked (no pun intended) the degree of simplicity to install.  I was also shocked that he seems to have worked immediately.

  First I disconnected the power of the unit and press and hold the power on button on the front of the PC (according to the instructions of Acer) to release any remaining electrical load (or so they claim).  I removed the 4 screws of the old PSU and slid the box out of the chassis Assembly while retaining all connected cables.  I found the best direction for the new PSU (fan stood in the same place, so the new power supply heat can be evacuated in the chassis, but the chassis is open enough and if the fan is drawing inside the PSU the air comes from the back of the unit (reasonably fresh air.)  It's the only way it would fit the attachment power cord located on the side of the draw.  The old power supply had the fan and the power cord on the same side attachment to the rear of the chassis).  Note that it is possible that the fan is fan in the power supply and the back.  I do not know.  In any case, I had no choice about the direction.

  I unplugged the old PSU connector and replaced it by plugging the connector corresponding since the new power supply.  I did step by step, a connector at the same time, check first to make sure I knew exactly where the connector has been set and what was the orientation.  In each case, I checked to make sure that the paired wire color coding.  In some cases, there was an extra wire on the new connector, but all the others were corresponding to the color and orientation.  I had a square connection 4 pins which does not correspond to the form of any connector again, but the new PSU was a rectangle connector 8 this divide into two 4 pin and I joined an of these.  The main connector has been 24 pins and the new PSU gave me an option of 20 or 24 pins.  Once again, no problem.  I noticed that one of the connections of the old PSU was actually two connections separated on a single cable, so I simply repeated with the new power supply, which included two cables multiconnector just for this purpose.  I used one of those for the two connections (hard disk, I think) and the other for a single connection, probably for the optical drive.

  The old power supply was now completely detached.

  After checking that all the screws and connectors have been secured, screw the plate chassis and to make sure the PC is properly delivered together, I plugged it in the end of the power cable supplied with the new power supply with the power off PC switch.  Then I plugged the other end of the power cable on my PS backup APC no explosion yet, so I went the new PC button power on / off to we.  Still no spark, so I pressed the button on the front of the PC and voila, it lights up and started.  Everything seems fine.  It seems to work normally.  If I encounter problems such as overheating, I will update this post.

  I have a HP Pavilion laptop with Vista SP 1 64-bit installed.  Tuesday, April 14 I turned it on only to freeze with in ten minutes after having informed me it had installed updates.  At first, I thought it was a problem with my browser and uninstalled FireFox.  This does not alleviate the problem.  I run my adware and spyware detectors to see if something to eat to the top of the RAM.  All scans were free of malware and it is free of all viruses as well.  It took me three tries to get even the scans indeed the computer would lock up after 10-15 minutes whenever I turn it on.  I thought maybe it was overheating and checked, but the CPU temperature is normal and the fan runs.  I tried a system restore to get rid the updates in case this was the cause of the problem since it had fixed the errors before.  No luck. On the first two tests, he wouldn't even finish the restoration of the system.  I ran the memory controller and it froze and then shut down the computer.
  It crashed last night, while I was running a System File Checker and everytime I try to start it in safe mode, it gets stuck on:
  Support: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys
  After sitting there for sometimes more than ten minutes, it starts as usual only to freeze up again.  I tried to boot into safe mode with network and just Safemode and he refuses to do.  I am very worried that I have a big problem, but I can't stay up long enough to do any in-depth audit.

• Is there a difference between fx. the FX3800 and GTX 260 Nvidia?

  Does someone understand why I got frustrated and confused about all the discussions of this video card?

  Some said that the FX3800 is a stabillity of card - more pro - etc better than the cheap cards - as the GTX 260/285/295 - and some told me that GTX 260 = FX3800. I read on other pages about how people have problems with their GTX 260, recognized as a FX 3800 (not in the body, but by the Nvidia software). Other places recounts how softmod GTX 260 for a FX 3800. Some told me that there is a big difference between these cards - others they look almost - same GPU etc. I read that the difference between the GTX 260 and FX 3800 is just the look of it from the outside - inside, they are confused - and that apart from that only drivers are different.

  I would feel much more comfortable in having ordered the FX 3800 if someone from Adobe could me excactly how much better FX 3800 comes from the GTX 260 - outside to be supported and is not the GTX. And if there is more in it just to change a simple text file? Are there several things happening inside the body - deep inside - that is affecting the performance with FX cards in addition to two lines in a text file?   Of course there is no overload w/600W, as long as the motherboard conforms to the specifications that it should be designed to (PCIe, etc.).   I would say that I have solved the problem! and for those who descend from the same track here is what I found.

  The card isn't nVidia has designed! the card goes down when not to complete task, if you use a single monitor, then it will tell about 300 Mhz (2D by default) when using a dual monitor default is the minimium 3D which is 518 Mhz.

  As the times mentioned previous, well I think that could have me mucking around with Rivatuner. the reality is that I played COD4 MW and Crysis Warhead maxed out entirely (1920 x 1080) and temperatures did not exceed 73, in fact the map has not sufficiently taxed from its default of 518 Mhz increases the speed of the fan to cool the card and it seems that my i7 CPU is a lot of work, but not enough to cause any concern.

  My HP is a HPE - 090A right now I can say that I am a very happy owner.

  This pc comes with a 1.7 GB gtx 260 card. The mobo is IMPTB-TK pegatron. What I ve read this Board supports the sli or crossfire, but when I asked hp tech, it told me that it was not recommended that they suggested & I could only change to a video card higher performance and would have get better food (watt 460 oem). The only problem I see w / install a 2nd video card is the wireless card is too close to my open pci 16 to adapt to another 260. Also the two cards must be the same or any 2 260 work in sli?

  OK, had my response, no sli or x - fire support... time to start looking for a 5xxx ati series I think.

  Today received the EVGA GTX 285 and installed without any problems. It fits without having to remove the cable plastic between the right edge of the motherboard and the drive cage. It does not cover the top of page two connectors SATA making it unusable with the connectors supplied with the d5000t. May be trying a right angle SATA connector if I need to use them in the future.

  I tried searching forums without any luck... it's probably the most convoluted forum I've ever visited... in any case I also searched google without really a bit of luck, so I thought that I post here...

  I'm on Windows 7 Pro X 64 with a GTX 260 video card and I was never able to get hardware acceleration with PS CS4. The option is not completely available and so far it has not really bothered me.

  I looked through two other posts on similar topics and found the Open GL Registry hacks. Installed, influence them and restarted without any.

  My card is listed as having been tested (it is the first in the list of Nvidia) http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405711.html and I went through all the steps listed here...

  No idea what else could be causing the problem? I'm using the latest drivers from the Nvidia site.

  Pether, there are two things to consider:

  (1) existing power supply (PSU) a 460W.  The specifications in the link you provided do not mention the minimum power required.  If she needs a 500W or more, you need to upgrade the PSU.

  (2) the map in the link is 9.8 "length.  It will be a tight, fit if it will suit all.  In addition, it is a double profile card (two wide slots).

  If you can solve these two problems, the card should work without any problems.

  Keep in mind that you need not 750W to add a GTX 970. 550 W of the kind of clean energy is ample. 650w is also good, but I would highly recommend a high quality PSU, and I do not include the B1 or G1 in this category.
