50G

How can I use a HP50g to multiply, for example, 35' - 8 "3/4 by 12' - 4 3/16" directly? I mean without all convert to inches or feet...

Thank you

Hello

Possible problems:

(1) the calculator must be in RPN mode to use the program.

(2) this program uses the keyboard "user-defined". Other key user definitions may exist, which should be deleted.

Enter the following text:

0

DELKEYS

Then start the program again.

(If you see "USR" top of the screen, this means that the user keypad is enabled. White - shift to left USER (on ALPHA key) on the keyboard not to select user when you are not using the program).

HTH.

    Greetings.

How can I increase the size of the icons 'F' keys for variables in the RPN command line window?

My reason for this is to be able to see the full name of the variable.

    Thank you.

Edit: Perhaps sizes of keys to function 'F' is what determines the size of the variable icon. Does this mean that it cannot be increased?

If you press SHIFT RIGHT and then press the ARROW KEY down, you can see more than 5 characters that are currently displayed for the softkey text.

  • Integration with 50G

    Hello!

Well, when I tried to compute the definite integral of | Sin x | I received the message cannot find the signin [0, 2 ft].

I went in RPN mode, and this error persists. I then used [RS] [ENTER] to get the numeric result, and after awhile, I got the correct answer 4. But I can't get the answer simplely by clicking [EVAL].

I also tried to calculate the antiderivative, and the correct answer returned Calculator -cos (x) * sign (sin (x)). I was wondering why the calculator produces an error when they apply for an accurate result (not digital, without .).

    Jack

confirming the latest set of equations:

    EVAL would be = - 1

    and -> limit X PI - 0 = 1

and the limit X-> PI = cannot determine.

    So, there's a singularity...

Unfortunately, because of the resolution of the screen of 50 G, when the resulting equation for the indefinite integral is drawn, clear breaks in the plot IP and 2 * PI are not 100% clear.

However, the subsequent calculations confirm that they exist.

This is what has been shown that when the original integral from 0 to 2PI of | Sin (x) | is calculated,

It is clear that the 50G automatically sets ON RIGOUREUX, even if it is not enabled in the (likely due to the function absolute value in the equation) indicators.

THE rigorous is perfectly reasonably expect when the EXACT mode is selected with a function of absolute value.

now for a pencil and paper method:

    | Sin (x) | is sin(x) from 0 to PI

    | Sin (x) | is - sin (x) IP to 2PI

    so...

integral from 0 to 2PI of | Sin (x) | can also be expressed in

integral from 0 to PI of Sin (x)

    +

integral of the AP to 2PI of-sin (x)

in EXACT MODE (strict mode setting is more questions)

When EVAL would be = 4.

I can refer you to a message done previously by Bernard Parisse (one of the developers of CASE).   Bernard said that the CASE cannot intercept all EXACT integration singularities (but it report some).

Regarding the digital approximation method (help-> NUM) to get the result... I can't offer no answer as to the reason that the singularity is resolved.

I've never seen a single post indicating what type of digital approximation algorithms are used for approximate integration with the 50G.  Of course, the digital approximation algorithms are distinguished by exact calculations.

Finally, FYI, here is another good example of the use of 50G with an integral and having to use a bit of paper and pencil methodology (in this case, the method of cauchy principal value) to solve the 50G of the singularity.

  • 50g - unable to resolve a simple system of equations

It's very easy to do on my Casio FX115-ES, but I can't understand how do on the 50 g for the life of me. I am trying to solve a simple system of equations, illustrated below, for a static engineering courses.

    (F1) sin (30) + (F2) sin (30) - 6 * cos (20) = 0

    (F2) cos (30) - (F1) cos (30) - 6 * sin (20) = 0

I know it's a simple problem and I can do it by hand, but we'll soon be solve systems with 3 + unknowns. I love the RPN, so I need to be able to quickly resolve these systems on the 50g. I have read the books and searched the Internet for 30 minutes and I swear that nothing I do works. I can't add the words sin() and cos() in a matrix. Solve the paintings, num, s address, m solve... None of this works! I know it's user error, but I have no idea where to start.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

    Bill

The unusual notation is shake me up.  Are variables F1 and F2?  If so, we will replace by X and Y and rewrite your system in the standard format:

    Sin (30) * X + sin (30) * Y = 6 * cos (20)

    -cos (30) * X + cos (30) * Y = 6 * sin (20)

There are many ways to solve this system on the 50g.  How I find simpler (less keystrokes) is by dividing the constant vector by the matrix of coefficients.  There are several ways to do it too, but it's my favorite.

First of all, make sure your 50g is in approximate mode: while holding down the button to the right, press repeatedly until you see the "~" annunciator instead of "is", then release the button to the right.

It goes without saying, you must also be in degree mode, so if the first anunciator said RAD, run DEG to change to DEG.

Now, press the MTRW (['] left shift) to start the MatrixWriter application.

First enter the vector of constants:

    20 COS 6 * ENTER

    20 SIN 6 * ENTER ENTER - > see [5.638... point 2.052...] on the stack.

Now enter the matrix of coefficients:

    ENTER 30 FISHING

    ENTER 30 FISHING

    down-cursor left, cursor left, cursor

    ENTER 30 COS [+/-]

30 COS SIMULTANEOUSLY on KEYS-> see the matrix of coefficients in the stack.

    Divide then: /--> see [4.45... 6.82...], which is [X, Y], the answer.

If you want exact solutions (and not just the decimal approximation), do all the foregoing in exact mode (sign '=').   Don't forget to put each algebraic expression in single quotes marks.  You can use the MatrixWriter, or you can just type it directly into the battery like this:

    ['6 * COS (20)' '6 * SIN (20)'] Come in

    [["SIN (30)" "SIN (30)', ' - COS (30)" "COS (30)"]]

    /-> of simplified solutions

A way to simplify these is:

OBJ→ DROP EVAL (see Y on the stack)

SWAP EVAL (see X on the stack)

    Exact solutions are 6 * cos (20) ± 2⎷3 * sin (20).

There are many other methods to solve systems on the 50 g, each with its own entrance of syntax.  Don't forget to single quote each algebraic expression whenever you are in RPN mode.

    Hope that helps!

  • Just me, or is the 50g low in solving differential equations?

    Hi all

I used Ti-89 s widely in the past, as well as the Ti-NSpire CX CASE and now the 50 g for about 1.5 years. I love some aspects of the 50g (sensation of keys, ease of unit, RPN conversion), but I can't help but notice some areas where it reallllly hangs out of the competition.

It is an example that I really noticed recently in solving differential equations. So far, several examples I've tried (all immediately resolved by my Ti - 89 and Nspire CX CASE), the 50g smothered on each.

    A very simple example: solve y "= - 9.8, with boundary conditions y (0) = 2.9 and y'(0) = 3.8.  This can be solved by hand in about one minute, but the 50g can't do. If I input ['d1d1Y (X) =-9.8' ' Y (0) = 2.9 ' ' d1Y (0) = 3.8 '] in level 2 on the stack, then 'Y' on a level and then run desolve, it returns "Error: Undefined result.

I missing something here, or is - this really unable to resolve such a differential equation based? I thought that advanced and 'better' mathematical capacity HP CASE was meant to be one of the reasons why it takes precedence over offers from Ti, but I must say, so far I do not see that.

    Josh

    Hello!

    Try with the exact numbers:

    ["d1d1Y (X) =-49/5 ' ' Y (0) = 29/10 ' ' d1Y (0) = 19/5 '"]

    « Y »

    DESOLVE

    (after SIMPLIFICATION) You'll get years:

    {Y (X) =-(49*X^2-38*X-29)/10}

  • 50g: algebraic programming with 50g

I just bought a 50g after using the 20 more than 20 years.  I'm bored already 20 years.

I am trying to program a formula simple interpolation using the procedure described on page 1-5 of the manual.  I use algebraic entry, and I use the method of "local variable structure.  I'm storing my variables under the letter keys.

I am able to enter the complete sequence of the program, and then end the program and then 'put on the stack' without problem.

Store the program under a variable seems to be the problem.  The sequence of keys 1-5 page does not work.  (I know how to turn letters for the name of the program.  After clicking on what follows:

    ', ALPHA, ALPHA, I, N, T, ALPHA, STO >

I am unable to do anything without getting the message 'INCORRECT SYNTAX'.

I can't even go beyond that to try to run the program.  Advice on that would be also useful.

    What Miss me?

    Thank you.

    Steve

My keytime value is 1138 and it's OK with me. Default, it is probably because I never changed it.

    KEYTIME-> displays the current value

-> KEYTIME sets a new value (the value must be on the stack)

to change the KEYTIME, so say to 1138 (in RPN mode):

    Put 1138 on the stack

Type-> KEYTIME, and then press ENTER. (Between-> and KEYTIME shouldn't be a space!)

I don't think that the ROM with the support of the 50g never goes out publicly. However, they could have gotten ahold of it from somewhere, and that's why they say that it is supported. He is there not much of interest using the 50g to connect it upward and therefore only Roma to 39/40 were fully tested and released.

The internal hardware between the ss400 and ss410 is totally different. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough space for two support units 1 rom version...

It seems that Windows 8 signed driver enforcement is a problem for pilots of 50g.

In order to install the USB driver, signed driver enforcement must be disabled.

  • Spanish to English on 50g calculator graphic

I got a 50g programmable graphing calculator aimed a person speaks Spanish and wonder until I open it if it would be possible to change the settings from Spanish to English?

There is really not much in the way the language supported on the 50 g. It would lead to a bit of the error and a few other things, but in many cases you can not yet noted that he has been placed in another language.

Anyway, he would come in English by default unless it has been used.

  • 50G and problem with integrals, new user.

Hello! I am a student in electrical engineering and I bought a 50G as my first graphing calculator, since that's what most teachers recommend here. I have colleagues who use the same who also make things a little easier, but I have almost no experience with it.
I serve the 49G and first emulators recently so get used to RPN, and while the first gives me the right answer, my physics 50 G and the emulator of 49 G give me something weird.

Well, if I'm trying to incorporate "exp (x ³) dx" for example, the calculator gives me "exp (x³t) dxt" on the screen.

Most of the integrals worked out of the box, but some have this exact same behavior.

Because the emulator of 49G and 50G physical give me the same thing, I suspect that it is just a matter of configuration. First emulator gives the answer however.

    Here a few photos:

    Then request EVAL:

    And 49G emulator:

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.

    Hi!, JVChrisostomo:

IMHO, you need use the RPN MODE.

    Configure...

    Number format... Difficulty 5

    Flags

    01 main value

    Function 03-> num

    Mode approx. 105 on

    Use EQW...

    The result is... 5.96394E91 or 5.96394 x 10 ^ 91 (takes approx. 7 "with EVAL)

Check, using Wolfram closest to you. Alpha interpretation:
