520 Touchsmart computer: No adjustment of the brightness on my PC HP Touchsmart

I have tried everything I can find on the forums, but nothing will make light work settings - can anyone help?

The brightness slider didn't do nothing - HP are quickly driving me crazy!

Please report the number of complete product for your computer. Check out the following, if you need assistance with this information. HP desktop PC - how can I find my model number, serial number or product?

What was your original operating system? The brightness setting worked properly with this OS?

Have you updated all drivers available for your computer?  If this is not the case, try to use the HP Support Assistant for available updates. Computers HP - using HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8, 7)

If you have updated the drivers and there is no change with the brightness setting, then it is likely the display driver is not totally compatible with Windows 10. In this case, try the following:

1. search for the Device Manager and run it.

2. go to the display of the maps section

3. right click on the display driver, and choose Update driver software

4. in the menu of the interface choose "Browse my computer for driver software".

5 choose "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".

6. in the next screen, select "Microsoft base Display Adapter" in the list under the section "Show compatible hardware".  then click on "Next".

7. the driver must be installed and check if the brightness slider works for you.

    I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. you mean that your screen brightness decreases when you use FN + F7 and increases if you use FN + F6. Is this good?

    Usually the FN + F6 decrease display brightness and FN + F7 increases the brightness.

    I have no idea why this work the other way around, but I think you should check the configuration of the profile of Toshiba Power Saver. Usually each profile supports different screen brightness settings. You can set it to max level and may assign this profile standard profile.

    Yesterday, I spilled some coffee on my keyboard and the computer works well, but my keyboard does not work.  I bought a wireless keyboard to use and it works perfectly, except that the keyboard of my laptop backlight is always on.  I can't figure out how to turn off without using the f5 and f6, keys that don't work on the laptop, so how can I disable this light without using the keyboard?  F5 and f6 don't work on the original keyboard at all, and on the outside, they do not work to adjust the brightness.

    It will be a little long because I try to give as much detail as possible. I have a desktop HP Touchsmart 520. The other day, I want to run an OS based on Linux from a USB key. I did once before, so I did what I did the last time. I unplugged, take off the back, then removed the hard drive, then plugged the USB key. I was hoping that since I didn't drive hard in, the computer would then operate the stick because of the boot order. He did bring up the screen of the OS, but gave me an error on failure. I turned it off and then return and go to the bios to change the configuration. I found the USB from the menu, but couldn't move, so I tried to disable the first option for the hard drive. I plugged the USB back in, but it does not still work, so I tried to drive hard back. Something happened somewhere in all this, the computer froze, so I tried to hit different buttons to see if I could get an answer, but nothing, so I cut. When I cut back on, I can't no longer to enter the BIOS. The usual HP screen comes up and says press ESC to enter on the start menu, and if I hit him in the first second coming he will take me to a black screen that has my computer on this subject record, starting with the processor type, processor speed, etc. (if I hit any button in a moment the computer hangs on the HP screen). This black screen is as far as I can go and the computer always crashes here, no matter what button I push, but it is said in the lower right corner of the activity for any button I pressed on, for example if I press F2 on the HP screen, it will go to the black screen with my characteristics and in the lower right It will read Diagnostics; If I am pressing F10, it will do as above but read the configuration.     I don't know why you are puzzled, it of an all in one, just like a laptop and works just like a laptop in terms of these functions. It is NOT a monitor with the possibility to be connected to a variety of different sources.

    If it is not common, if you went the advanced settings for the display, you will also gain adjustments more and you can really bumble in there if you try.

    Settings > display > Advanced display settings > view the adapter properties

    Thanks to find the links but I could not find the drivers I need for a Pavilion dv7-4031TX.

    However I finally managed to fix the problem. Let me summarize what has been my problem.

    (1) I could not adjust the brightness of the screen by using the function keys f2 and f3.

    (2) I couldn't find the brightness slider if it was generally... i.e. (control Panel\Hardware and Options of Sound\Power)

    (3) my laptop would not recognize an external monitor.

    How I solved the problem:

    1 > pass.

    and go to the graphics driver and download the graphics driver and follow the directions. At the end of the installation you will be asked to restart the computer.

    0nce you have restarted your computer, you should be able to adjust the brightness of the screen using the fn keys or the brightness slider in the window 'power Option '.

    2 > Activting 2nd monitor

    Click on Device Manager... At start-> right click on 'Computer' and click 'properties '. Click on "Device Manager". Now click on "monitors".

    Now connect the exernal monitor to your laptop while watching where the monitor icon appears under "monitors". It should appear as 'Generic PNP monitor'.

    Now, right-click on it and select "update driver software... "then search automatically for updated drivers. Install the new drivers. You should see the generic 'PNP monitor' name change to another name.

    3 > restart your computer. You should find that after doing all this, you should be back to normal.
