By default, Win7 is more secure than Windows XP, Yes. If you decide to "switch" to Win7, but keep pressing this freebie ugly AOL/McAfee, chances are that you will be infected again later. I wish that you were runningMicrosoft Security Essentials (free), NOD32 or Kaspersky Anti-Virus (not free).
NB: If you upgrade the computer to Windows XP to Win7, it will essentially be a "clean install". While most of your Windows XP data will be stored in a folder called Windows.old, I wouldn't trust safety of this right off the bat because of the infection aleady-today ' hui.
However, you can format the hard drive and do a clean install of Windows XP to resolve the infection. Who would you save a few $$ and you would not have to learn a new operating system (e.g., Win7). Details available on request.

Hi Jeff,
I had a whole series of mistakes differrent, but thought of the discuussions in http://forums.adobe.com/message/5273970#5273970 would be the resolution, but as you can see by my comment on this subject, that this still has not first solve my problem. I finally solved it by using this solutions all in contact with technical assistance, although I do not understand what we did different, he still was't straight forward and had several attempts to succeed. Still seems to be a problem Adobe must answer, especially with the new CC version and update to come Monday, I bet that there will be a lot of discussion of this problem the week next in the forums.

Error code 800F0816 when you try to install the updates
Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, 64-bit operating system. Downloaded and installed the latest updates of security, but 6 of them have failed to install which gives error code 800F0816. (specifically KB978338, 980232, 979683, 981332, 905866 and 978601). Unable to find much information about this error code at all. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Thank you JOCK McSQUIGGLE
Thanks for the pointers, but none of the Web pages on the links provided, mentions this error code, which I find strange it seems that the problem is caused by the presence of defined Windows Firewall on 'on' when you download updates. Turning the firewall Windows on a 'stop' in the control panel allows downloads to install correctly. Hope that other users may find this useful. JOCK McSQUIGGLE

net stop wuauservRen %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.OLDnet start wuauservoutputaccidents of Microsoft 'Fix It', requiring to uninstall and reinstall.I could not update my updater in some time and more and more programs become problematic due to lack of updates. Many others have asked the same question, for some time now.BOO, HISS Microsoft! How about a real solution on the "Fix It" site!Hello
Were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?
If you receive the Windows Update 8024001 error while trying to install updates, an update to Windows Update is installed. Depending on how many programs are running and the operating system files or folders are affected as this update is installed, it may take several minutes before you can install other updates for your computer. Try installing updates later.
If so to resolve this issue, rename the Spupdsvc.exe file, and then try again to install updates. To do this, follow these steps:
a: ClickStart, and then run.
b: Copythe following text, paste it in the run box and then click on OKor press on ENTRY:
Cmd /c %WinDir%\System32\Spupdsvc.exe Spupdsvc.old ren
c: try again to install updates. If you can't always install the updates.
Hope this information helps.

Code: 80070490 when you try to install windows updates
I had this problem since March 2010. I get this error for most, but not all, updates to Windows update code (Vista Home basic Service Pack 2, 32-bit operating system).
All updates cause me this problem are labeled 'security and important updates. From time to time a security update installs OK and any malware removal tools and updates for windows. One thing is certain that ALL who fail are security updates.
I've tried almost all of the suggestions I found in responses from Microsoft that I could find, and I still have the problem.
I really hate to continue to use my computer on my home network not knowing that I have all the updated wins.
Need help
