57(d) updates__ installation error code

I'm new to this site, my kids are a little more having to assist me with "small it issues" if I'm here!

It helps those answering questions if you provide:

what version of windows (32-bit or 64-bit) and service pack level.

you use what browser (exact version).

what application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?

What third-party firewall

What anti-malware software can be installed.

What updates you trying to install? (Number of KB)

What error do you get everything when trying to install updates?

Please try another attempt to update. When / if it fails, copy and paste the lines for 50 or so windowsupdate.log in your response.

Click Start, and then click Run.

in the Open box, type

%WINDIR%\WindowsUpdate.log

and then click ok.

Scroll down to the last entries find the error codes associated with the last attempt to download/install.

Start at the bottom and work your way up a section that indicates an ERROR, WARNING or FATAL.

If appropriate copy / paste the error codes in this thread with 50 or so * previous * lines in your answer, so someone may be able to help.

Also check the windows file called Ko folder * .log (* = number of update ie (KB2286198) and post the content of the update has failed.)

This may even provide clues as to why the update failed.

    Error 0 x 80070017 means that files that are copied from the disc are not making it to the hard drive with the same structure, which means that the 'original' files on the drive are modified/changed/corrupted while being copied to the location of the 'destination' on your hard drive during installation. This usually means the installation media has been corrupted or the player can not read the DVD.

    I suggest to create a USB key with the installation files and then install it. You can see the video in the article how to create a USB installation media.

    I'm trying to re - install Vista 64 bit on my laptop.  When I get to the expansion of the files I get the error code 0 x 80070005.

    Is that my hard training over?  I tried to re - start after installation, but the boot sector is gone so now I have a

    1. do you still have the previous version of the operating system intact?
    2 do you have. which type of installation selected?
    3. What is the error message displayed when you restarted your computer?
    Method 1
    Run the CHKDSK program

    To run the CHKDSK (Chkdsk.exe) program, follow these steps:
     
    1. use the Windows Vista DVD to start the computer from Windows Recovery (WinRE).
    For more information on how to start the Windows recovery, refer to the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

    2. in WinRE, open a command prompt.
    To do this, follow these steps:
    a. on the screen to install Windows, select the language to install, time and currency format and keyboard or input method options and then click Next.

    b. click on repair your computer.

    c. click on the Vista installation you want to repair, and then click Next.
    Note Click on load drivers only if you need to load a driver to access a hard drive.

    d. click on command prompt.
    3. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    CHKDSK drive: / r

    Note in this command, drive is the hard disk where you want to install Windows Vista.

    4. If Chkdsk.exe does not and does not repair errors on the hard disk where you install Windows, run Chkdsk.exe on other NTFS hard drives on the computer.
    To check the partitions that are configured on the computer, follow these steps:
    a. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    DiskPart
    b. at the DISKPART prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    Flight list

    Note the hard disk information that is returned.

    c. at the DISKPART prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

  • __Windows Setup has encountered an unexpected error. to install the reboot, the installation error code 0x0

    I have an Asus f3sv with vista home premium (32 bit).  I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit)

    During "the installation program copies files", I get

    "Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. to install restart, the Setup error code 0x0 ".

    I went through and removed all the programs windows Upgrade Advisor said that I had to delete.  disabled the antivirus and have rebooted several times

    When I tried in safe mode it says I could not install in safe mode

    When I booted from the disc in copied files, and then when I said I wanted to update to the appropriate Vista installation.

    I decided to copy the filed on the hard drive and it's vista blue screen

    I copied the files on the hard drive (in safe mode) and tried to start the installation of the copy.  I get the following error

    Windows could not create a Setup folder 0x8007000D error code

    I can find nothing in the forums with the same problem.

    Check your hard drive for errors:
    Click Start
    Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
    At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r
    When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    Could you try to reinstall Vista and proceed with a flat installation?

    3. in Windows Explorer, click to select the drive for the Windows 7 installation disc.

    I suggest that you run chkdsk in Windows Recovery Environment [RE] that could help solve the problem.

    You can access Windows RE using the Windows 8 installation disc.

    To use this method, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the disk.

    1. Insert the disc.
    2. Restart your computer using the power button on the computer.
    3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
      If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings.
    4. Choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    5. If you are using the Windows installation disc, click repair your computer.
    6. Select the Windows installation you want to repair, and then click on Next.
    7. In the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt to open it.
    8. In the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk /F /R
    9. Press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.
