6.1.6 Safari hangs on Google Maps

Safari 6.1.6/Mac OS 10.7.5/Mac Pro started today crashing to Google Maps. All other sites work fine. Tried the usual bugs (reset etc.) but no relief. If I go to a page like a hotel reservation where a Google map comes up to the side, not crash, but I get an alert to 'upgrade' to Google Chrome. Hmmm... Tried earlier, too intrusive. MapQuest, Bing and here work very well also.

In the journal of the accident, the first line mentions Javascript if that helps. If you disable Javascript, the page does not load and tells you just to turn it on.

Someone else?

v10.7.5 Lion is just an outdated OS x Safari 6.1.6 is also that is why you have problems with Google Maps.

Recommended requirements for Chrome is Mavericks v10.9 > https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3209990?hl=en

With v10.7 Lion being the minimum.

In order to have the best security available on your Mac, see if your Mac meets 10,11 El Capitan requirements here > upgrade to El Capitan

Which would upgrade your Mac to v10.11.4 and Safari 9.1, a more stable platform.

El Capitan is free and available for download on the App Store.

El Capitan requires 8.8 GB of storage space.

  • Safari will not show Google Maps

Just recently, I can't get Safari to display Google Maps - I use the version 9.0.3. I do a Google search for Google Maps and it shows a URL of type https://maps.google.co.uk , but if I click the link it translates into https://www.google.co.uk/maps and all that I get a blank page or one that shows just the words "Google Maps" in the upper left corner, without notice, that something is wrong.

There was a suggestion in another thread that there was a problem with the DNS name servers but I already use the OpenDNS ones, and I have no problem at all with Firefox that shows the cards correctly. Try to run the update from the drop-down list. It contains a new version of Safari, which can solve the problem.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • MBPr crashing (especially on Safari) with Google Maps

    Hey people,

Recently (last month or Yes, but not sure about the exact time), my Mac crashed when I used Google maps satellite mode. It is almost always a problem with Safari. Today I tested it and it wouldn't crash on Google Chrome, but are permanently with Safari. (I know before, at least once that plant on Chrome too).

Someone has had a similar experience? What should I try?

    Thank you!

    Pete

Please launch the Console application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Step 1

For this step, the title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages

in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

In the upper right corner of the Console window, there is a search box to filter. Enter the name of the application crashed or process. For example, if Safari has crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes).

Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages since the time of the last fall, as appropriate. Copy to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

The journal contains a large amount of information, almost everything that is not relevant to solve a particular problem. When you post a journal excerpt, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't dump blindly thousands of lines in the journal in this discussion.

Please do not post screenshots of log messages - text poster.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    Step 2

In the Console window, clear the search box, and then select

DIAGNOSIS AND diagnostic USE information reports ▹ user

(not diagnose them and use Messages) in the list of logs on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points downwards. You will see a list of reports of incidents. The name of each report begins with the name of the process and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report on the process in question. The content of the report is displayed at right. Allows you to copy and paste to validate all of the content, text, not a screenshot.

I know that the report is long, perhaps several hundred lines. Please report all this anyway. If the report is only a few lines, make sure that you have disabled the search box.

If you don't see any report, but you know, he had an accident, you have chosen diagnostic and using the list of Log Messages. INFORMATION on the USE of DIAGNOSTIC AND choose instead.

In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you change the UUID ' anonymous, ' a long string of letters, numbers and dashes in the header of the report, if it is present (it cannot be). "

Please do not post other types of diagnostic report - they are very long and rarely useful.

When you post the journal excerpt or the accident report, you might see an error message on the web page: "you have included content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the forum software. Thanks for posting the text on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

Apple has not renewed the contract with Google to access Google servers.

If the old version of iPhoto, which are still using Google's servers for the cards and places are either crashing or hanging.  Places are only work in iPhoto 9.5.1 or newer, who use places of Apple servers.

There is more support for iPhoto from Apple.  You must update iPhoto 9.5.1 with the Mavericks. It would work well, only it is no longer buying this update to Apple.

Perhaps the reason for the problem of synchronization is the problem with the loading of google map?

It is very likely.  If iPhoto work very well when you are offline, then your problems will be caused by the connection failed to Googles servers.

  • Google Maps shows a white screen to 9.1 Safari

    Hello.

I tried to solve this problem for a customer for a few days now. When I try to open Google Maps in Safari, I get a blank screen or the same screen with text (he said so far the two 'Google Maps' and ' < '). Very occasionally, I will be able to use the site correctly, apparently at random. This problem does not occur on Google Chrome, which is also installed on this computer, but my customer insists on the use of Safari.

I tried to clear the cache using the "Safari > Preferences... > privacy > remove all data from the Web site" without success. I also tried the system update to the latest version of El Capitan, hoping that it would include an update for Safari, which would solve the problem. Yet once again, this proved unnecessary.

Can anyone help me identify and solve the problem?

  • When you print maps with directions from Google Maps, I can print only part of the directions.

When I select print in Google maps and printing, the first page is the card belongs to the second page of directions and the third page is empty. I tried in Safari and it does not happen here - the map and directions of how printing which should. This began to happen in Firefox about two weeks ago. I tried to adjust the print settings in Firefox and I have also reset the print settings in topic: config. So far, nothing has worked. I use a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 and I have not had similar problems in the past.

    Thank you!

Unfortunately, Google has changed the layout of the page. He added a style rule to the list of instructions that 47 of Firefox are not pages, or in other words, Firefox keeps the direction together as a block list so that you can print as many this block gives on one page. The only way to work around this problem now is to 'hack' the page to override to this rule. If all goes well it will be fixed in a next version of Firefox.

To hack the page, you will encounter a small script in the Web Console. If you find that you need to do it often, you could create a bookmarklet (a script attached to a bookmark) so it is a one-click operation.

    Non-reusable method

    (A) select this script all over and do a right click > copy:

    document.querySelector('div.widget-pane-section-listbox.widget-pane-section-listbox-root').style.display="block";

    Update:

    document.querySelector('div.section-listbox.section-listbox-root').style.display="block";

    (B) in the tab with the instructions to print page, open the Web Console of Firefox in the lower part of the tab by using one of the following methods:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + k
    • button '3-bar' menu > developer > Web Console
    • (menu bar) Tools > Web Developer > Web Console

    (C) click next to the circumflex accent (>) at the bottom of the Web Console and paste the script (Ctrl + v or right click > paste) and press ENTER to run it.

    (D) close the web console, using the little 'x' on the right end of the bar ad detective, Console, etc., or the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + i could do.

If you go to preview before printing, you should now see the list over several pages normally. Success?

    Create a Bookmarklet

A bookmarklet is a small script that you can save on your Favorites or bookmarks Menu, bar in a convenient place. Here's how to create that:

    (1) select the entire script, and then right-click > copy:

    javascript:void(document.querySelector('div.section-listbox.section-listbox-root').style.display="block");

    (2) a comfortable place on your bookmarks bar or Bookmarks Menu with the right mouse button and choose new bookmark

    (3) click the empty box next to location, and then paste the script

    (4) to assign a relevant name like GooMapPrint

    (5) click on the add a bookmark button

To test, after loading the view 'print' instructions, click on the button. When you call in print preview mode, the steps should be paginated normally.

(Some sites use a security policy content to prohibit external scripts to be applied. On these sites, bookmarklets don't work - but at least so far, Google does not only.)
