6 d needs a fast enough SD card for RAW to 4.5 fps

After reading a few comments on the problems with the (secondary) SD card controller into the famous camera of 5 d MarkIII, I decided to test my new unit 6 d.

Speed tested with the same composition and lighting (poor tungsten), same frame parameters: exposure 1/200 @ f/1.6 on iso 800, object of shooting was my window air conditioner mounted (LOL, I know ha ha!):

Since I have already spent some time on the preparation of the information for my part, I thought I'd share here

Size of the files with a band bandwidth approximate writing to the camera s max 4.5 FPS (continued in shooting mode):
GROSS 20M 5472 x 3648 - size 22 814 KB file ~ 100.2 MB/s
mRAW 11M 4104 x 2736 - size 16 581 KB of the file ~ 72.9 MB/s
sRAW 5.0 M 2736 x 1824 - size 11 228 KB of the file ~ 49.3 Mbps
L high 20 M 5472 x 3648 - size 5 303 KB file ~ 23.3 MB/s
L 20M 5472 x 3648 - average file size 2 488 kb ~ 10.9 Mbps
High M 8.9 M 3648 x 2432 - size 2 463 KB file ~ 10.8 MB/s
Average M 8.9 M 3648 x 2432 - size 1 090 KB of the file ~ 4.8 MB/s
S1 high size 1 470 KB of the file 5.0 2736 x 1824 - ~ 6.4 MB/s
Average S1 5.0 2736 x 1824 - 643 KB file size ~ 2.8 MB/s
S2 2.5 M 1920 x 1280 - the file size of 766 KB ~ 3.4 Mbps
S3 0.3 M 720 x 480 - 155 KB file size ~ 0.7 MB/s
* about write bandwidth calculated with the formula (FILE_SIZE_KB * 4.5) / 1024, results in rounded Mbps

observation, it seems that file sizes adjustable by all about 50% discount for JPG (high quality) or sRAW at certain composition & light scenes.

Maximum size of the files that I saw was 27 800 KB for RAW (calling to more than 122 MB/s in view write speed 4.5 FPS burst) and nearly 8 MB for large JPG in high quality (equivalent of 35.1 MB/s burst mode). Former was spend with Sandisk have SD (afte 13 executives bus), it went through without a problem for about 30 seconds (more than 130 frames).

Phew... essential is that I was able to shoot continuously all sorts of images JPG infinitely (tested up to 30 seconds) with my SD Sandisk Extreme 45 Mbps card... but it's much too slow for any type of images RAW - literally after 13-16 frames, you will see a shutter speed and 'BUSY' message will fall by 0.9 FPS until you release the shutter button and let the unit registered the buffer to the map then you can repeat.

I thought actually buy the fastest on the market SD card, I could find, but gives up after that I came back to find only Sandisk SD Extreme Pro cards rated up to 90 MB/s write speed, they are no doubt good, maybe to mRAW, but not yet enough for RAW... hoping the fastest SD cards get put to the point some time in the future I like really pure RAW... mode and sometimes want to make an ofshots of the series executives 13 formorethan

Does keep me in shooting mode every day for more than 13 images of each? No, not at all, but could someone and if you do then your only real option is 5DMIII (with similar full frame sensor) camera and a blazing fast CF card that could support infinite shots up to the capacity of the card.

Good news is that the SD cards work great (as advertised) in 6 d camera!

It will be useful.

The 6 d supports the UHS-1 cards.  The UHS-1 standard allows a theoretical bus of 312 MB/sec speed.  I say 'theoretical', because the bus have raised (usually a 'big' file transfer faster than many 'small' folders) but also and above all... no one does in fact card technology SD which can transfer data as fast.  So, really, it is the physical speed of the card which becomes the barrier and not the speed of the bus.

I've seen maps UHS-1 with speeds estimated up to about 100 MB/s (this is a rounded value).

The 5 d III is different... it's CF slot is quick (slots for CF cards are usually always fast) but the SD card on the 5 d III is _not_ a location of bus UHS-1.  So, it doesn't have the fastest transfer speed.  If you _need_ this on a 5 d III faster transfer speed then you would want to make sure that you have configured to write to the CF card and buy a suitable size CF card that can follow.

So far, I think that only 6 D and the new 70 D SD UHS-1 slots.

If you have a 6 d or 70 d and you want speed then you want to make sure that your SD cards are cards UHS-1.  The symbol is a letter "U" with a "1" inside the "U".

    > Maybe someone has a similar problem like me
    Why you write about problems is not a problem it s a fact

    Believe me the new graphics card driver will not change anything!
    I had a Vista installed on the L30 and the laptop was very slow.

    I decided to install and use the XP again
    Vista needs much more portable recources like the previous Microsoft OS s. That's why the L30 runs slower.

    In my view, we should use the Vista on computers that support a graphics card with a 256 MB own or more, faster CPU and min. 2GB of memory.

  • Need advice on the graphics card for a6319fh

    Hello

    I have a Pavilion a6319fh with the original 250w power supply. Now, I have a core 2 quad Q9400 installed and want to upgrade the integrated video card so that I can play PC games, such as cod, Cyrix. I was wondering what type/map (I think a 256M card) allows me to do this without the power upgrade.  Any notice are appreicated. Thank you.

    Replacing the power supply is probably more important than the update of video card. This will better allow further improvements - memory, additional disks, etc... If you're a gamer...  I would try to find a 650w Psalm you can find them for ~ 65-100. If it is too stiff - 450w are ~ $25-30.

    As you probably know, mobile technology is not the same as the desktop PC simply and it s is not possible to replace or change the graphics card.

    Especially chips are set on the map and it of not possible to improve it. Also the BIOS, chipset utilities and other application would not accept the new graphics card.

  • Need help with food & graphics card updates

    I have a HP Pavilion p6320y I bought 8 months ago. Processor Quad Core AMD Phenom II x 4820.   I play WoW and since the last big patch, have suffered with low fps. I have the drivers to date and follow-up all the advice given to me by Blizz and finally understood that my Nvidia GeForce 9100 (integrated graphics) is not good enough anymore.

    I checked my computer and discovered that I have a 300w power supply (12V) power and read on another post here that something stronger than 300w is required to run a decent graphics card.

    Now for my questions:

    How much a power supply can I upgrade to without hurting my computer, but will be enough to run a good card?

    What would be a good graphics card for this computer?

    I was looking at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1 GB GDDR5 PCI Express graphics card and wonder if it will work on my computer.  Most of the cards more enjoyable seems to be PCI Express and I don't know if it will work.

    Any advice will be most useful. I have some experience with the workings of my PC and I wouldn't trouble myself instead of run to the computer store close to you and someone else to pay. Thank you!

    Well, you start from the low level with the integrated graphics card. It won't cost much to have a substantial increase if all you want to do is to run WoW without error messages. Yes, the 300w power supply is a problem and rules out any map that will require its own means (i.e. need its own power cord as a hard drive), but there are several maps of average quality that it can take a single bus power supply (i.e. just the pci-e slot itself). Just taking a glance at newegg.com I see the following:

    GeForce 9400 under $ 50

    Radeon HD 4650, under $ 50

    GeForce 9500GT slightly over $ 50

    One of these, you should get where you want to be and does not require an update of the PS. The location that you have available is a PCI Express x 16 slot to not look cards AGP; they will not work. If you want to install the map you mention that you need to get better food.

  • ya need to ready boost like thing for the video card memory

    an if there are something like that out there... where?

    I have the alienware i7 - up to 3.5 Ghz with 16 GB of RAM and 80 GB SSD. The laptop is fast enough.  But I still wanted to make it faster. So, I use card memory 32 GB as a readyboost. I found that speed up really. Before using readyboost, it is best to ensure a speed reading / writing of USB or the memory card is high, otherwise you will have not the advantage of readyboost because the bottleneck of folklore.

    In my case, I used the class 10 SDHC memory card for my readyboost. The memory card is still able to take 3D videos and capable of storing video shooting 3D. My conclusion is don't blame the blessing of readyboost, just you have to find the right type of memory/USB with your existing laptop / computer.

    Use readyboost and enjoy the best performance

  • How fast on SD card to Camileo H20?

    That speed is the lowest speed to use with a Camileo H20 to ensure that registration is also smooth and fine as possible?

    Hi recman,.

    I checked the manual Camileo H20 and I could t find details the requirements SD card so I think you can use the SD/SDHC cards to recode movies in Full HD.

    These days are flash cards are very cheap, so I recommend a class 6 SDHC card. If you buy a 4 GB card for example, they should cost less than 10 euro.
    By the way: I have good experiences with flash SanDisk cards.

    I guess that a faster SD card will bring only a performance gain if you copy the video to your computer via the flash card reader, I think.

  • LabWindows CVI RS-232 is not fast enough

    Hello

    Is it possible to write a C program which takes RS-232 data buffers and prints it on the screen?

    I ask this question because I write a program in LabWindows CVI and the data is not correct. I used SimpleTerm Gold to see what data are supposed to look like, but CVI misses some. I believe it is not fast enough and therefore lack of data.

    A C program (do not use the functions or reminders CVI) would be possible and better?

    Is it possible to make the CVI to work faster? I changed the environmental policy of the previous "do not sleep". There are two ComRdTerm because we're not getting all the other packages.

    Rate 115200 baud, no parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit. Most of the data I receive are 313 bytes and the smallest is 17.

    Any help would be MUCH appreciated as I am completely puzzled.
    Thank you

    Code is below.

    OpenComConfig (com, "COM9", 115 200 Baud, 8, 1, 0, 1024, 1024); / /< opens="" serial="" ports="">
    SetComTime (com, 0); / /< sets="" serial="" port="" to="" never="" time="" out="">
    T0 = clock(); / /< calculate="" how="" fast="" comrdterm="" is="">

    sprintf (p_check0,"%.4s" & buffer0 [0]);
    T0 = clock() - t0;
    Double time_taken0 = ((double) t0) / CLOCKS_PER_SEC; / / in seconds
    printf("%d\t%f\t%s\n",bytes_read0,time_taken0,&buffer0[0]);
    Memset (buffer0, 0, strlen (buffer0)); / / Clears the buffer

    T1 = clock();
    bytes_read1 = ComRdTerm (com, & buf1 [0], 314, 10);
    sprintf (p_check1,"%.4s" & buffer1 [0]);
    T1 = clock() - t1;
    Double time_taken1 = ((double) t1) / CLOCKS_PER_SEC;
    printf("%d\t%f\t%s\n",bytes_read1,time_taken1,&Buffer1[0]);
    Memset (buf1, 0, strlen (buffer1));

    Thanks for all the help guys. I finally found the solution. The program was running too slow because I kept opening and configure ports (not shown in the code) I simply kept open ports and it works fine.

    I appreciate all the comments and insight. Each of them will definitely help me still to develop with CVI.

  • Need help to upgrade graphics card on HP Pavilion A262N

    This office has a 8 x AGP port and supplied with a video card NVIDIA FX 5200 which still works fine but was eager to put performance before AGP cards level reach hard to find.  Bought a card Visiontek Radeon HD2400 PRO AGP from Newegg that my so-called system is supported, but when I put the card in the computer does not start, the yellow CPU led flashes once then turns off as the bus is blocked.  I have upgraded the original 250W for a 400W power like the card said minimum 270W.  I asked HP cat twice to help on this and I do not really anywhere.  I need to know what AGP cards will work on my machine.  My slot AGP said 1.5V, and maybe that's why he will not support the new card?  What I've read I think that AGP 8 X cards are supposed to operate automatically on 1.5V?

    The Visiontek software said to ensure the motherboard chipset drivers are updated, but then I discovered my motherboard is made by ASUS (P4SD - Stingray) to HP and they do not provide the update, HP must.  HP has no update since 2004 so this course who ask for help.  The motherboard has a chpset bridge north(865G) and south (ICH5), which means absolutely nothing to me.

    I returned the Visiontek card but I don't know why it didn't work.

    I am running XP Home Edition with 1.5 G of RAM.

    The new card is DirectX 10, and this is perhaps why it does not work?

    Solved

    Discovered of VisionTek support my motherboard only accepts the 1, 5V AGP on the cards and their card is a 1, 8V so that they are not compatible.  No AGP 8 X cards list their slot voltage so it's hard to find one that is compatible.

    This site shows the differences between the cards.

    http://www.Directron.com/15agpguide.html

    VisionTek support was very helpful.  In contrast, HP and NVIDIA never to you or have not the slightest idea.
