  • 64 bit computer 8 GB of RAM but windows shows only usable 3.25

OK, I got the original 6GB (3x2gb) RAM (1600), installed on a MSI 880GM-E43 motherboard and a Phenom II X 4 (I think either 3.6 or 4.0 Ghz) and windows all read well. I buy a new motherboard Gigabyte 970 a - UD3 and another key to 2 GB RAM and install. Now when I go to windows, it says properties

"Memory (live RAM) installed: 8.00 GB (3.25 GB usable). So firstly that I went into the BIOS to check if it shows the correct information and he did. Then I changed my CPU speed clocked 3.4 to 4.0 Ghz. I loaded windows and he always says the same thing "memory (RAM) installed: 8.00 (3.25 GB usable)" and now, the processor has not changed either "processor: AMD Athlon (TM) II X 4 965 3.40 GHz processor". " I even reinstalled the new drivers and it still shows the same info.

    Hello world

I bought the netbook NB510-117 one a few months ago and I recently upgraded the memory to 4 GB. So, in order to exploit all the RAM, I installed windows 7 ultimate which recognizes the memory up to 4 GB. The problem is that in the properties of my computer says Windows ' installed memory: 4 GB (2 GB usable 99).

    Obviously the RAM I bought is appropriate ([4 GB DDR3 1066 Mhz | http://s16.postimage.org/4yu4q0zph/Capture.png])

As you can see, the Chipset Mobile Intel 945 Express charge max 2 GB of RAM. This means that 4 GB of RAM would not be taken in charge and this is perhaps the reason why only 3 GB of RAM are visible

    Hello

I have the problem. recently, I bought 4 GB of RAM for my Satellite A200-1hv but system see only 3.1 GB.
And yes I have tested also on 64-bit vista 64 and Linux 64 systems. In both cases, it shows only 3.1 GB.

Also when I boot my laptop on the BIOS POST screen it test only 3.1 GB of RAM memory not 4 GB.
The funny is that when I enter in the BIOS setup, and then in the main settings tab, it shows 4GB.

    Why?
In the specification, it is written that this laptop supports 4 GB of RAM, but it is NOT!

Have you tried to update the BIOS?
    Please do!

Check if you are using the latest version, and if not then update the BIOS to the State.

You can download HP Performance Advisor and run it on your Z230, then read the configuration report and determine the type of memory DIMM is installed.

3.6 GB is a very good number - much higher than most people's.

All versions of Windows 32-bit client (not just XP/Vista/7/8) have a
Address 4 GB of space (64-bit versions can use much more). It's the
theoretical upper limit beyond which you cannot go.

But you can't use the whole address space. Even if you have a
Address space of 4 GB, you can only use around 3. 1 GB of RAM (and as I
said, you do much better than that). This is because some of
This space is used by the hardware and is not available for the operation
system and applications. The amount you can
use varies, depending on what hardware you have installed, but can
range from as little as 2 GB to 3.5 GB. It's usually around
    3. 1 GB.

Note that the hardware is using the space, not the real address
The RAM itself. If you have a larger amount of RAM, the rest of the RAM
goes unused because there is no address to map space to.

IN my pc, I have 2 GB ram.but it shows 1 GB.

    Why?

Probably because half of the RAM is bad or badly installed.

Has your computer ever all of the 2 GB?  If so, what happened between the last time, he did and now?

Have you recently installed more RAM?

What is the brand and model of the computer?

    How many sticks of RAM is installed: 1 x 2 GB; 2 x 1 GB; 4 x 512 MB; etc. ?

Go to http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ and download the scanner.  Run and report what it says on your RAM installed.
If you want to test your RAM:

If you have a CD player, download memtest86 + ISO http://www.memtest.org/#downiso and burn it to a CD using something like ImgBurn (free).  If your computer can boot from USB (probably, Yes for newer computers), you can instead download the installer for USB keys on the same Web page.  Then start your computer from USB or CD you created and run memtest86 + and see what he has to say.

If you prefer to use a test produces memory Microsoft, go to http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp (you'll still need an application of iso burning, ImgBurn or cdburn.exe as suggested on the page Microsoft OCA).

You must migrate to 64-bit Windows 7 to use all of the RAM.

My PC running the 32-bit version or 64-bit Windows?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/find-out-32-or-64-bit

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

Windows 7 64 bit comes in handy when you need to deal with at least 4 GB of RAM or more. Windows 7 32 bit can use up to 3.2 GB of RAM. Because the address space of memory is much larger for 64-bit Windows, this means that you need two times more memory than the 32-bit Windows to accomplish some of the same task, but you are able to do much more, you can have more apps open, do things like run a virus scan in the background it will affect the performance of your system. 64-bit Windows 7 is safer too, malicious code cannot easily infiltrate it, drivers are more reliable because they must be signed before it can work with 64 bit Windows 7.

Regarding compatibility, you need device drivers 64-bit hardware devices, you may have. In addition, there is no 16-bit subsystem in Windows 7 64-bit, which means, your applications must be 32-bit only, not 16-bit Installer or programs uninstaller. Also, if you decide to switch to Windows 7 64 bit in the future, there is no way to upgrade from 32-bit Windows, clean install only.

  • I have 4 GB of RAM, but when my i play any game, my CPU fan runs at high speed and my system gets shut down within minutes.

I have 4 GB of RAM, but when my i play any game for example NFS most wanted, my CPU fan runs at high speed and my system gets shut down within minutes. Help me solve this problem

If you overclocked?  If so, cancel that.  If the games you play are poorly written, it is not that you can do about it.  If you have not cleaned the dust and lint from your computer within a certain time, you should do that because it accumulates and causes overheating.  For desktop computers, remove the cover and carefully use compressed gas to blow off the dust, especially around the fins in the processor heat sink and air ducts.  For a laptop, I'll ring gas compressed through the ventilation openings.

    Good luck.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) - 4 GB of ram only 2.24 GB usable, why?

I was looking for my specs and discovered that I have 4 GB of RAM, but I can only use 2.24,

Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (2.24 GB usable)
I have not changed, operating system or that I received my laptop how it is now with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit installed

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6500 M series 1 GB
I don't know if this problem of RAM affect my computer's performance because I don't know much about computers, but I just want to know if its supposed to be like this

32-bit W7 does that 4 GB of RAM maximum, BUT because of resources etc in the PC itself, you'll generally much less available to use (although 2.24 seems a little lower than usual). See for example http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/windows-7-professional-32bit-installed-memory-4gb/b31c236f-7c71-4cee-834e-51b0b7d0b82c .
