6 updates KB979909, KB982168, KB2418241, KB2572073, KB2539631, KB2518864 fail to complete installation despite repeated attempts

It seems to have installed correctly update KB 979909,982168 and 982254 at least 8 times (according to history was updated), but update yellow shield is in the tray, by inviting me to install again.  It's over a period of 3 days, and the machine has been rebooted at least twice.  How can I get this to stop (obviously, I can't tell if the updates proposed are new or more of the same thing without agreeing to install).

  • XP - offered continuously updates (KB974417, KB979909, KB982168)

I hijacked this title because I seem to have a similar problem as the author is, except for the part of NERO.

I uninstalled 2 of them using Control Panel, but the third was not found. Then, I downloaded the KB and tried to install mode without failure. Well, of course, this must have been wandering like all 3 the same mistake gave advice. something about the installer having ongoing not to run or you're in Mode safe... Duh :) I rebooted and install from the desktop, but still have the same question... updated guard offering all three.

Any idea on how to solve this problem?

I would also like to say that I had no problem until I installed NERO multimedia Suite 10... perhaps I should address it with them. Installation didn't complete the first two times I tried, the two default while preinstalling 9 necessary Microsoft points. He has not always 8 (Microsoft VS PIA Redist) the final error pops up on the screen was "Installation of the failed installation of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 KB967328 program will leave." My choices were YES & NO; On the first try, I chose the second YES, I chose No. (having a choice seems to make little sense)

After the attempt with the Safe Mode method and apparently successfully manual installed, NERO completed without error, but an inspection with the Belarc Advisor (update), I see that KB967328 isn't here and do not complain. Also 3 in the title of this post, only KB974417, KB979909 appear as 'not installed' and don't complain KB982168 either. .... I get always the three updates offered repeatedly.

    Thank you for your advice,

    Chris

I was getting exactly the same problem, and what I've discovered, is that Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 KB967328 causes effectively corruption in the .NET Framework which translates KB974417, KB979909, KB982168 to be offered several times. Here is an answer I've included in another article:

Tire of error: resource is not available (cannot install KB967328):

For me, this corruption cannot simply fixed by removing the .NET Framework and put it back, because I install this program on 400 computers + to my company. There is no way I'm going to go visit each machine. So I had know what was corrupting the .NET Framework in the first place rather than fix once it was broken. After hours of work of this problem, here's what I discovered:

KB967328 does not fail because there is a corruption in the .NET Framework, KB967328 CAUSES THE CORRUPTION! I tested a dozen times, the .NET Framework works very well... install KB967328, now the .NET Framework is corrupt. To be fair, it's more of a Microsoft problem and a problem of Nero. Only, it seems to be a problem with Nero because this is an unsupported patch that Nero can demand.

So here's what I discovered. If you read the details on this fix KB967328 is no, you will see that all this is make updates a file called Presentationframework.dll to version 3.0.6920.4000. But it is a unsupported patch (which means you need to do a special request for double you send the file). We are supposed to only install this if we really need. Otherwise, we're supposed to wait for the next service pack for this update. Nero must, of course, so we have to find a way to update this file without altering the .NET Framework in the process.

So, I did a little research and discovered that KB977354 contains a number of updates, including an update of Presentationframework.dll version 3.0.6920.4016. So if you simply replace KB967328 by KB977354, you will update the file, you must meet the requirements of Nero without altering the .NET Framework in the process. (KB977354 is in fact included in a rollup of the .NET Framework update, so I actually ended up replacing KB967328 with KB982524 rollup instead). I even asked Nero support on this idea, and they confirmed that it is a viable alternative.

So if someone tries to install Nero silently with an unattended Setup script, simply swapping KB967328 with KB977354 (or the update rollup KB982524) will save you a lot of headaches.

  • Another series of recent buggy XP SP3 updates KB2572073 KB2633880 KB2518864

    Tonight, both of my XP SP3 boxes receive 3 updates to .net 2.0 offered several times;

    KB2572073
    KB2633880
    KB2518864

I find that odd, especially when we're between update cycles.

Whenever I told it to install, it finally says "successful installation" AND THEN opens again (wteher I reboot or not).

Happened to the point where I uninstalled .net 2.0 a box hoping it would disappear (it also has 3.5 & 4.0). Unfortunately the "control center" for my ATI Radeon 3450 'control center' would not go 2.0 is installed. Having convinced MS I wanted to install 2.0 & NOT reinstall 4.0 (although I also tried), I have the ATI utility works once more, but I still get these security updates provided on & on.

Is this a real security problem, or should I just hide them?

MS must have been aware of this problem. On the pc that I applied the fix, it re dl had its own updates & they installed. On the other pc, the problem simply disappeared.

  • Problems with 2 updates continually want to download, KB2572073 and KB2518864.

    Hello

Check the forums I see I'm not the only person today to have updates "KB2572073" and "KB2518864" continually want to install on my xp professional OS.  When I check my editing history, he said that they succeeded, and before I caught I don't day these including several times each.  When I checked my control panel "remove or add programs" I can't see them not listed... but when I did a search for files on my pc and they arise records and list details notebook them downloaded successfully.

I hope that that goes resolved soon with possibly a patch or something.  Meanwhile, I would like to know if it is safe to ignore notifications for these 2 updates in particular?  I am definitely going to install any other those who show up as my pc has already.

    Thank you

I installed KB263380 KB2572073 and KB2518864 three times with success; However, I get the yellow shield saying that I need to update to Windows XP

I ran the Mr Fixit for this problem, and briefly, the yellow shield disappeared, I thought that it worked.  But as soon as I clicked the solution worked and Mr. Fixit was gone, the yellow shield came back and said that I have to update these once again.

  • NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5 updates detected repeatedly, KB2633880, KB2572073 and KB2518864

It seems that I lived this same problem with Windows Update services month last in terms of detection repeatedly updates.  This time they appear as essential.  My computer on my wireless network is running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium Edition, which does not show updates available at this time.  The problem is now on my XP - Pro, also running IE8.  The three current updates, KB2633880, KB2572073 and KB2518864 have installed three times since my troubleshooting steps to fix the Windows updates detection did not work.  I ran so far, the cleanup tool NET Frame and Safet Scanner from Microsoft, which withdrew a piece of malware.  This is getting monotonous!  Microsoft has a solution?

Now that I have reinstalled 931125, this update does not reocurr under Windows Update.  So what I had to do was hide remaining ones I didn't install.  For now, until the next question, Windows Update seems to work normally.

  • kb983583, kb979909, kb982168 kb976569 PROBLEMS!

First, a bit about my system: HP Pavilion ZV5000, Pentium IV laptop clocked at 2.8 GHz (non-mobile), 1.12 GB of RAM (actually a stick of 1 GB and a 256 MB key, but the internal video card uses 128 MB of that), running windows XP pro...

It is a fairly new installation and I had no problems with it so far...

Here's what happened... I tried to install Nero 10...  before installing it, it gave me a list of things that were to be installed before we could install Nero, whom he proceeds to try to... He gave me problems on some components .NET, saying that he was unable to continue... I tried to install it again once or twice and the same thing has happened, except that this .NET component was the only thing on the list... I decided I should check windows update out I installed everything and see if there was something to install... it was what he, with an update not install it (not!), an updated .NET... do not think much of it at the time, I have advanced and tried to install nero again, what worked... and for the record, nero works perfectly...

so I decided to try to deal with this update failed, so I went back on the windows update site...  3 critical updates appeared (kb983583, kb979909, kb982168) and an option updated software (kb976569)... I checked all four and click on install... updates, for some reason, install them in the order opposite of appearance, with kb976569 trying to install everything first, which proves to be defective (loser!) and the other three install sucessfully (completed!)... then I went back to the selection of windows update page and the same four updates appear, as if the three who actually did work not worked after all...

I copied my windowsupdate.log file and will try to post a reply on this subject, in the case where it is useful (I tried to include it in this post, but iexplorer crashed and I had to retype this... ugh!)

    any help would be appreciated...

    Chris
