6224 multicast flooding help

I'm a noob on the hardware side and would appreciate some guidance from someone with more knowledge than myself on the intricacies of multicast routing.
This should be a simple setup, and it works for our needs, but I want to prevent the multicast packet flooding that is occurring on VLAN 20.
In the docs I've found examples on setting up igmp snooping so I've tried those, but with no luck. The multicast data keeps showing up on all the ports of VLAN 20. I also tried setting up a 33rd VLAN and tried to route the multicast data from VLAN 10 to VLAN 20 with no luck.
Details:
This 6224P is the only switch on this stand alone network. The multicast data is coming in on interface 1/g3 from 192.168.21.150 to multicast address 231.168.21.150. There are two computers on 1/g11 and 1/g12 that join the multicast to receive the data and I would like to prevent the multicast from travelling back out the rest of VLAN 20. The two computer are also communicating to other devices on the VLAN. There's two devices broadcasting data as well as 3 other devices being controlled via standard TCP/IP connections.
The trunked ports were setup as a simple link to a back up switch with the same config in the event of a failure.
The switch is handling the load just fine, but the other devices on VLAN 20 are a bit overwhelmed by the multicast data.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

We found that for some providers of network switch, an interrogator is required when you enable IGMP snooping. If espionage works without an interrogator for your specific provider, then this is ideal. In all cases, we recommend that you consult your provider for their specific recommended configuration of switch of layer 2 multicast switch.

  • RTMFP Pure IP Multicast - AMS in DMZ - Firewall Config

    Hello

I am currently helping put a server responsible for AMS of live broadcasting to a pure multicast IP behind a DMZ group. The DMZ is through a Juniper firewall that supports IP Multicast filtering.

I'm assuming that the following rule must exist:

    • AMS Server video editing to the multicast IP and Port used by pure IP multicast address.

Any other rules do exist? For example, incoming communication on the server of the same AMS address multicast IP and Port through the other nodes that are part of this pure IP multicast group?

I searched the forum and do not see anything immediately obvious and the only doc Adobe I found mentioned anything in this regard said "In a firewall using the IP multicast"- http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/DevGuide/WSa4cb07693d123884520b86f312a354ba36 d - 7ffe.2.3.html #WS0914fed73b20fbab5f67e9a31326e030390 - 8000.2.3

I just need to figure out what holes in punch between the internal intranet network and the Adobe Media Server DMZ.

    Thank you!

a pure IP multicast, clients send any traffic to the server.  probably you are using RTMFP URI "rtmfp: ' so that customers don't know anyway the address of the server.

It should be the case that the only necessary hole is the server must be able to send packets to the destination multicast address and port.

  • 6224 PC kills my network. Help? :)

    Howdy,

I have a PowerConnect 6224 that I use at home on my home network.  I recently started having a really * internet connection with Pings in the range of several hundred.  My configuration is very simple:

Cable modem-> Wireless Router-> PC-> stuff 6224 (printers, VOIP, file server computer box, etc.)

If I go to www.pingtest.net with everything connected (I'm on wifi to router), I've been around average a 300ms ping response.  Then, I found that if I simply unplug the router to the switch and run the test again, I get a sub 20ms ping without making any other changes.  If I can plug it in the switch back in, my pings are up in the scale of several hundred.

Then I unplugged the switch for a bit and let it restart.  I have rant pingtest again, he jumped up to autour 95ms ping.  It's much better than it was before the restart, but still not as good as I would like.

If it seems to tell me that the traffic from switch is to flood the router with something that is causing all the average traffic to slow down.  When I brought the home switch, I installed the latest firmware and reset all settings to their default value and has not changed anything.

I wonder if there is some setting I should change the switch that could help with this problem.  Should I just used to reboot it every so often?  What can I do?

    Thanks for any help!

The switch should not be restarted regularly. Most of the common time for a reboot is when you do the firmware updates. The latest firmware is 3.3.15.1.

    http://Dell.to/2c7auvh

While the problem is occurring, I'd take a look at some of the controls, see the following. The output may help to better identify the possible causes.

Show # command logging, will give you the output of any saved messages. If there are errors messages, they can help to better identify the possible causes.

You can use the command # show interfaces counters to check all interfaces with errors, or the high amounts of packets compared to the total of broadcast packets.

Use these commands to check the resources on the switch. # Show processes cpu and # see the cpu memory. If they are on the high side, it can affect performance.

While the problem occurs, you can try unplugging the devices that are attacked to the switch, instead of disconnect switch of the router. Disconnect one at the time and a test to see if there is an impact on the network.

Keep us posted on your results.

  • Help design 6224 Vlan stack config

    Hi all

I'm looking for help for what I feel should be a simple configuration.

I have 2 6224 switches in what will be a stacked config.

I need to put in place the following VLANs

    VLAN Database 5,6,7,8,9,90,100-254

VLAN 6,7,8,9 should be isolated from each other.

VLAN 100-254 should occupy 12 ports to resources shared between the two switches (6 per switch). 18-24 ports each switch.

VLAN 100-254 should be able to communicate with vlan 5 via IP routing Vlan in the switch.

Each of the VLAN 100-254 will have a 24 assigned ip subnet.

I am new switches from Dell and I'm a little wrong with setting to the top of any help would be greatly appreciated.

To create the VLAN on the 6224 orders will look like this.

    Console # config

    Console (config) # vlan database

    VLAN console(config-VLAN) # 2

    output console(config-VLAN) #.

To place a port in an OFFSET, you use the channel-group command on ports you want in this SHIFT.

The following example shows the 1/g5 port to the port-channel configuration

    Number 1 without LACP.

Console (config) # interface ethernet 1/g5

    Console (Config-if-1/G5) # channel-group mode 1 on

To allow multiple VLANs through a connection, you would use general/trunk switchport mode.

Console (config) # interface ethernet 1/g5

    console switchport mode trunk #.

console # permit trunk switchport vlan add 2,3,4 tag

    Console # end

When you make the VLANs, they will inherently be not able to communicate with each other. So that they can communicate with each other VIRTUAL LAN routing must be enabled. Here are the basic commands needed for the VLAN routing to work.

    Console #config

    Console (config) #ip Routing

    Console (config) #interface vlan 2

    Console (config-if-vlan2) #routing

    Console (config-if-vlan2) #exit

    Console (config) #interface vlan 3

    Console (config-if-vlan3) #routing

    Console (config-if-vlan3) #exit

    Console (config) #interface vlan 4

    Console (config-if-vlan4) #routing

    Console (config-if-vlan4) #end

If you have some VLANs, you do not want to communicate with any other VLAN, you should be able to do so by activating only not routing on VIRTUAL LAN.

If access restrictions are to go beyond that, you may need to look at the implementation of the CAA.

  • How to detect 'real' rates to send to peers with the help of multicast?

    Hello, everyone.

I have a question, I try the demo with

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/p2p_rtmfp_groups.html

and then I try to find the 'real' rate of sending data to peer with using multicast.

I set a timer and it will work every second what app start with "_incomingSteam" (videopodcast )

    and I followed NetGroup.info and NetStream.multicast.info (_imcomingStream.multicast.info).

who is the real rate outstream when Subscriber send video footage of other peers?

    multicastInfo.sendControlBytesPerSecond
    multicastInfo.sendDataBytesPerSecond
    multicastInfo.bytesPushedFromPeers
    multicastInfo.bytesPushedToPeers
    multicastInfo.bytesRequestedByPeers
    multicastInfo.bytesRequestedFromPeers

    Is sendDataBytesPerSecond or bytesPushedToPeers or?

    someone could help me?

HOPE EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD DAY

It depends on what you mean by 'real' rate of sending data to peers.

"sendDataBytesPerSecond" represents the payload data rate, the real info sent.

"sendControlBytesPerSecond" represents the flow of flight data that would be headers, control messages, etc.

Sum of the 2 above should give you a measure of the 'outbound' peers; -What are you looking for?

  • VPLS multicast support

I want to deploy muticasr on VPLS, all can you me, wthether is possible and also what are the design and implementation considerations I should have?

    Brgds,

There is nothing like EoMPLS or VPLS helps multicast up to now, the VC PW are transparent to the traffic running through them and endpoints maintain the State of what needs to be sent on a PW.

That said, the order for reference are taken by the endpoint based on MAC table formed by using native ethernet method of flood of learning and transfer.

    Let's look at this topology;

    SW1 SW2<---><--><--->SW1 SW3.

Now suppose that they are simple switches are connected using normal ethernet ports and fiber/copper.

Now, if enable us igmp snooping and start multicst traffic of SW1 SW2 receiver, then

first of all it would be flooded on the interface of connection both SW2 and SW3 SW1.

Once the State of the receiver is discovered and the outgoing interface is known as interface

interface to SW3 SW2 connection is cut. and there will be no more flooded

through this interface for this group.

Now in VPLS these interfaces for interconnection are replaced by PW. If you have a logical connection

between SW1 and SW2 SW3. And also endpoints PE cannot maintain state multicast regarding PW VC until now.

The work on this project VPLS group studying this aspect for the introduction of snooping or multicast State of maintenance in the ot PW VC relationship. until then, he is considered unknwon and flooded through all the neighbors on a PFD VPLS instance.

So if you deploy Mcast on VPLS, it will be broadcast through the PW VC connection,

at least scale you can do thing to have a star VPLS between the source n

and the destination. If you try to dpeloy this multicast for access over metro-E clouds separated on through MPLS cloud.

  • Configure load balancing NETWORK for Exchange 2010 - unicast or multicast

    Howdy,

We are in the process of setting up CASE on VSphere and want to configure NLB. The documents I've read talk about using unicast or multicast modes. Unicast requires more setup server-side and multicast requires additional configuration on the side network. A mode is better than the other?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Lily, multicast is generally the way favorite due to changes to the requirements to the vSphere host, when you use the multicast mode.  The necessary change disables ESX update upstream switches when a virtual machine is online.  Which means that the switches know where VMS obliging NLB to flood the switches, which is design as well as NLB works.  One effect of this is that the switches will also not learn changes due to vMotion or HA events that extend the time it takes switches to learn that the new location for a MAC address.

Multicast road requires a static entry in the network layer and does not have the effect shown above.

I was not on all questionable websites, just news and sports that I used for years, starting by it seemed to be only BBC sport app but then quickly spread to all! It seems also occur just after I did the last software update, do not know if this is related to the problem?

    So far, I have:

    • Completely erased and reset all devices and set up as a new iPad / iPhone.
    • Created a new Apple ID, incase it was related to my original account.

  • How to restrict multicast traffic to specific ports on GS716Tv3?

I can not find specific instructions to limit traffic of multicast on the smart switch GS715Tv3.

I need to force all multicast traffic to travel on a specific set of interfaces, or at least stay within a given virtual LAN on the switch to which it is native. All the changes you want multicast servers and listeners will be on these interfaces in their separate vLAN.

We get multicast traffic unwanted between each of these systems, causing corruption of our stream. We limit the multicast traffic on vLAN6 of each switch to stay on the vLAN6 of this specific switch.

    Thanks for any help.

To switch the management VLAN to 4.

Make sure you have 2-way switch, one in VLAN4 in a VLAN1.

4 and apply the value of the system you use to a static IP address to the switch and confirm the access to the web configuration and then change "management VLAN ID. then pass the system that you use on the port or any VLAN 4, then you should have access, otherwise, wait about 60-90sec and try again, because you might have PLEASE and it will block anything on the port for just under its set to "Enabled" 'Fast Link '.

Then under "IP Configuration" value switches other IP address in IP range of VLAN4.

For the love of Simplisicty, unmarked ports should never be in 1 VLAN simultaneously.

And instead of using the point and click, goto "Port PVID Configuration" and just create the VLAN it.

Member of the PVID and VLAN the same thing for a port, on what VLAN, it must be in the database

And to confirm, you have a cable from switch to each VLAN? You can cut down on cables and ports if you tag/trunk ports to the next switch. then all VLAN 3 just 1 cable between each pair of switches, saving you at least 4 ports on each switch.

Just an example of my GS724T (ignore ports g8 and g-19-20, their current PVID is because of something else you do not, LACP and Span/Monitoring):

All ports are configured to a single VLAN, my 'LAN hand' is VLAN12, that the management VLAN is set for, g23-24 ports VLAN trunks, they are set on tagg VLAN12 and 14 when the traffic is out of these ports, then switch to the other side reads the consequence tagg and acts, that way I don't need 2 cables/port for each of them.
