6704 output range is configurable?

Hello

It is a simple question on PCI6704.

According to the specification of the range of the output is +/-10v for voltage and 0, 1 PCI6704 - 20.2mA for the current, the resolution is 16 bit. When I open the MAX test Panel, it seems to allow me to set the max/min output limit to the channels.

Question is: is this power max/min limit really configurable per channel? For example, if I put power max/min channel 0-0 / 5v, this range 5v will all use 16 bits of resolution?

Thank you

Jane

The range of output voltage on the 6704 is not configurable and is limited to the range of ± 10 V according to the manual PCI-6704 (pg a-1).  Absolute precision is also referred to as ± 1 mv in the specifications.

  • Best way to configure Photoshop workflow settings when source photos are taken in AdobeRGB, edited from a wide and output range in sRGB?

Be able to quickly produce finished photographs is of importance with the majority of my photography work. That's why I pull, process and deliver JPEGs. There is no advantage to my clients to my shooting RAW for this time sensitive workflows. I won't be able to accommodate any possible future uses of the photos, so I shoot using the Adobe RGB color space. The output of my clients are JPEG images for use on the Web, so of sRGB. Currently, I used a screen wide gamut (NEC PA302W) with a 24-bit graphics card. (I plan on upgrading to a 30-bit card in the future).

I noticed that in Internet Explorer, the reds in my finished photos are too intense on my screen. My photos look good in other web browsers on my screen. This situation worries me because I don't know exactly why it's happening since my pictures have embedded sRBG color profile and IE supports embedded color profiles. If anything, I think that the reds would be too intense in other applications that do not support embedded color profiles.

Please let me know if my work flow can be improved outside shooting RAW and use a 30-bit screen:

    1. Take JPEG pictures in Adobe RGB color space
    2. Edit photos in Photoshop using range wide screen, 24-bit
    3. Color settings: colors of the monitor (Monitor RGB - PA302W, calibrated)
    4. Save for Web, convert to JPEG, incorporate the sRGB color profile

When you work in Photoshop the reds appear very well. When registering for the Web and previewing "Color Monitor" the reds are intense, when previewing 'Internet Standard RGB (No. Color Management)' the reds appear very well. The final appearance of fine recorded images with the exception of when displayed in Internet Explorer, which supports embedded color profiles - color management.

Shooting JPEG can certainly be beneficial for the size and speed, although with improvements in conversion raw in a few years it becomes harder to justify.  But if you expose just conversions in camera can be very beautiful.  The camera manufacturers do a decent job in their chips.

Your sounds of workflow practices, but one thing you know may not be not is IE use NOT your monitor profile, so what you see in Internet Explorer is incorrect to 100% of the time.  He only reads the profile of your image.

In other words, Internet Explorer is not properly managed by color, unless you have a monitor set to display accurately in the profile sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1.  Microsoft seems to have no intention to fix it either, which is a shame.

I suggest to view your images in Firefox or Safari, who read your color monitor profile as well as the profile of the image.  Firefox can even be configured to display the elements of the web page in a mode of color management.

  • Keithley 2400 smooth change of output range

    Hello

I use a Keithley 2400 current source to drive a Peltier module to control the temperature (object multilayer temperature shielded inside a vacuum chamber) with PID. The process value (PV) is measured with a Keithley connected to a balanced special bridge thermistor nanovoltmeter. With this configuration, I can hit gap type of 2-3 nanoV of the thermistor bridge exit, which is about the level accessible with this nanovoltmeter (equivalent to ~ 30 nanokelvins stability of temperature, sensor has a sensitivity 0.1 V/k). If this configuration works as it should, with a correctly tuned PID control.

However, after the sample (degassing vacuum) the charge of process change is different, so the Keithley is started automatically in the range of 1 a output. The LabVIEW application automatically checks the application of the PID output using a buffer and min/max for the calculation of the output values. When, for example after a few hours, demand for PID output drops below 10 mA, the VI automatically changing the flow of the Keithley to 10 range my (using the * command RCL remembered probably setting). So we have a upper stage resolution in order to achieve the extreme temperature stability. The only problem is that the current real offsets (lets call it error output, or a working of error) are obviously different 1A and 1 my range. So this automatic transition is not "smooth" enough, I see that the PID regulation loses its 'hold' on the control and the value of process allows a small swing. Of course, this oscillation is reduced after a while, and the PID can reach ultimate stability after a few hours more.

I would avoid this "lump" in my will, what would you advice to do? How could I make this transition from the beach to be smoother?

    Thanks for any advice,

    Best regards

    its that darn * RCL

The Kiethley has the beach there is no reason to recall a series of parameters to change 1 command parameter.

That being said. The resolution will also change and there will be a bump - it's inevitable.

  • Lack of analog input/output range

    Hello!

I LV 8.6 installed on my PC with XP OS and my card is 6024E. I noticed that the analog input/output palette is not appearing or missing. I tried searching but no luck. NOR-Daq traditional 7.4.4 currently installed.

Try reinstalling the device driver CD/DVD and make sure you have selected traditional DAQ.

Say you you installed NOR-DAQ 7.4.4.  But if it was made before you install LabVIEW, LabVIEW and then see.

My classic report request is very simple with just 4 columns. No spaces or special characters in the names of columns in the report. Still, it does not with this error.

Also the question above of "String index out of range-1", it was a bug fixed in the patches update 4.2.4.00.08 group. I don't see anything in the list of the bugs fixed for it.

  • How the output voltage is coded on 16 bits DAQmx devices?

In our laboratory, we have two devices DAQmx, the NOR-PCIe-6363 and the NOR-PCI-6733. Both have 16-bit for bipolar analog output precision. I understand that the small voltage difference that can be made is 2 * Vref/2 ^ 16, where Vref is the reference AO voltage (10 Volts or externally provided for 6733, 10 or 5 Volts or externally supplied for the 6363).

I wanted to know how the output voltage is coded. DAQmx functions take 64 bit floats as input, and at some point, they must have their reduced accuracy. How is this done rounding, is a floating point around the nearest possible tension, or is always rounded down or always rounded upward?

What is all the possible output voltages? Some diagrams in NOR-DAQmx help/measurement Fundamentals, signals, Analog, sampling considerations seem like they could involve the maximum voltage + Vref is not achievable, so I think that is all of the possible tensions - Vref + 2 * Vref * n/2 ^ 16, with n ranging from 0 to 2 ^ 16-1 included. This includes - Vref and does not zero but + Vref.

Could I get confirmation on this point, or be corrected if it is wrong?

    Hi Chris,

The scale of writing DAQmx version performs double floating precision scaling and then he made a turn, the closest to convert the resulting code of the DAC to double int16_t (or uint16_t for unipolar devices). Floating point scale includes the custom scale AO if you have configured one, the conversion of volts or AMPS to the codes of the DAC and for some devices, the calibration scale.

You can check the coefficients of scaling using the AO. Property of DevScalingCoeff. It takes V / A-> CAD codes and scaling into account calibration, but not the scales to customized AO.

The PCIe-6363 X series devices preset scaling in software. The internal reference of the AO is slightly higher than 10V, to correct the errors of gain and offset does not limit the output range. It also means that you are not limited to 9.9997 V on this device when you are using an internal reference.

The PCI-6733 uses calibration DAC instead of software scaling. RAW - 32768 means - 10 V, 0 corresponds to 0 V, 32768 is impossible because of two of the 16 bits of the add-in and 32767 translates 9.9997 V. When you continue 10 V to write DAQmx with this device, DAQmx he forced into 9.9997 V.

Note that for these two devices, the absolute accuracy full scale includes over 305 uV of error. Look at the tables of absolute precision AO in the specs of the device for the full story.

  • Can I output the monitor program PremierePro CC (only) to a 2nd video screen?

I already have (years) used PremierePro on an edition of PC system. At this time, I used a box of cards and small groups of Matrox - it was so easy to put in place a 2nd monitor to display the program output (only).

I started using new PremierePro (CC version) but this time on an iMac 27 "retina 5 k (max for the ram, processors and graphics functionality). I'd quite like to discover the program output only (or at least mostly) on a 2nd 1080HD video monitor. Is it possible to do? With no junction box, I guess that this cannot be done. Is this fair?  I know I could set up an iMac HDMI output, but that would be out of the whole office. I just want to really take a power of video output (monitor of the program only) rather than the entire desktop. Is it some sort of break Thunderbolt to send with a HDMI or DVi connection, which can display only the monitor program (like those old buttons)?

Of course the iMac screen 5 k and the video monitor will be quite different devices - so I can't really just the range double configuration screen. A 2nd screen Mac is expensive - and it would be another screen to the retina, 5 k.

As background information, for now I'm only editing content 1080HD that thus the 2nd monitor should be consistent 1080HD. I have various computer and video monitors available if this configuration is possible. I'm not too concerned about the quality of the image in the 2nd monitor - its more about speed reading to check for sync and motion - changes especicailly when a customer sits the long side (and Yes, I hate too). The iMac 27' is a good size screen, but I'm edition multi channel animation graphics and pictures (no animated videos), it fills the screen fast enough. If I want to program a monitor window half-decent size, I am constantly scrolling and minimization / maximization of the channels that I can see detailed work areas easily.

If I ask a stupid question here, please don't shoot me :-) As I have said for a while I used the PP, but now I use it everyday - so just going back to it.

Thanks for reading - and advice you might have would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Pete

If all you need is a program-monitor output to a second monitor, woudn't integrated two-monitor process work? No, is not the release of calibrated equipment which is often sought for high range editing, but it works for most cases... just have a second monitor mounted on your card system and on the Preferences tab, select it as shown...

Just make sure that your operating system 'sees' your normal monitor as a screen, and then they will appear in this dialog box as your operating system lists them. PrPro always default to sending the output of the program monitor to monitor 2.

No box necessary engine... and many who have the outboard motor to run a high-end TV, also use it for their treatment of General works.

  • 4110 parallel PXI 2 outputs isolated

    Hello

I'll use 4110 PXI to provide HAD. If HAD current exceeds 1A, is there a risk to 2 isolated parallel output to provide more current? Y at - he notes that I have to take?

    Thank you

    Leo

    Hi Leo,

On the 4110 you can link channels 0 and 1, but unfortunately you can not link channels 1 and 2 because they share a floating ground and channel 2 is negative only.  Theoretically, you could bind the channels 0 and 2 together, which would be useful if you need then a more positive than this handset rail voltage.  Note that channel 0 is only 0 - 6V, so you will need to limit the voltage set to this output range.

    Hello Labviewers,

I am using the PID function for the proportions of 2 components in a tank of an agreement.

As input, I have a variable related to the color of the liquid and the output a Retiro between 2 of the liquid ingredients.

The problem that the while loop is executed every 40 seconds and I used random numbers for the gains of an another VI.

My question is how can I convert the output signal (upper and lower limit a) a significant relationship between 0 and 1. And how the iteration time (40 years) may affect my PID.

    See you soon,.

PS: I tried to do the same thing with the fuzzy logic toolkit and it works perfectly, now I'm trying to compare the results with the PID.

Using the LabVIEW PID block? Search for aid, you will see that there is an entry "output range". Input default-100 to + 100, so if you see on your diagram, do a right click of the Terminal, create a constant and enter the values that you want to use.

  • output of PID

    Hello

I have problems with my pid in the sense that it displays only 2 values(min_and_max).i have tried different gains and yet it will not work properly.can someone help me please? the process I'm tring to control is an oven, and I use NEITHER 6024E and CSC-2345. (I also tried without the dt s, using a simple wait in the while loop, but it is not influence it)

Your output range is tiny (0 to 0.02).  In the meantime your comments seems to be on a much larger scale.  Your P gain being 20, any error (difference between setpoint and variable processes) greater than 0.001 will be enough to drive the full output or full out (20 * 0.001 = 0.02).  You need either a larger output range (and then scale before you send the output to the DAQ hardware) or much smaller gains (which could result in the loss of some mathematical precision).

  • Output of PID VI looks to On / Off signal

    Hi all

I'm new to requests for PID and currently starting a project involving the PID of a heater of air command. I came across some problems and I'd appreciate really all of the suggestions here

The installation consists of a cDAQ-9174 with RTD module (for example NOR-9217) and an output module current (NOR-9265). The process variable is the incoming temperature which is extracted from the RTD, and current output module sends the output of PID of 4-20mA to the incubator, 4mA is equivalent to heating off, and everything above that turns heater at different levels as a result.

I found a sample program on the site OR I have changed according to my installation. PID loop rate is 10 Hz, and for this I used the calendar software (please see the attached VI). The output for the PID VI range is set to 4-20mA.

During execution of the program, we can see RTD works well (process variable updates correctly), but the output of the PID VI signal varies between these two extremes (4 MA or 20 MA), which apparently turned into a On / Off attached template instead of PID (see the "On-off MV.jpg" screenshot). As a result, the oscillating system in undesirable ways.

I looked at the example LabVIEW, ran to some of them, programs and they seem to work well. I also looked to their diagrams and outside the middle range output different (default is from-100 to 100), I can't see any significant difference for the other parameters to the PID VI.

Was there everything I hard set, or was there something I missed? Any help will be greatly appreciated... Thank you!!

    Best regards

    Victor

If you want to be using PID loops you need to learn about the setting of a PID.  There is a lot of information around on the internet on how to do and there are different methods depending on who you talk to.

How is it tuned and the small selected output range will make things very quickly.  What you can do is to change the output of pid to 0-100 range.  Then you can use the percentage of PID to EGU vi use the output of the pid to control your 4-20mA signal.  So the 0-100 =.004 A02.  Then, you must always set the PID to your system.

  • D DAQMx 6229 problems default IO port configuration

    Hello

We use the PCI-6229 in an industrial PC / Windows 7 CVI application and are interested in the power setting to the top of the default configuration for the input/output digital port configuration.

We used the utility NI Max Device Explorer and config to set the default values for the configuration of our application 26 DI + 6.

It works very well which allows us to turn off the PC and power again upward and the Council retains its power to configuration.

When we run our application and power cycle the PC, the power of the State seems to have returned to factory settings, which is all the output to 0 (I think).

I don't think that we are running the functions that perform all reset of the card.

Did someone saw this behavior like this and have any ideas of how we can know how to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve Pinfold

    Hi Steve,.

I conducted a survey on this issue, and it seems that this is a known bug and was returned in October last year.

There is however a workaround solution.

Cannot set the State of a single line at a time, because that will generate an error kErrorPowerupStateNotSpecdForEntirePort. Instead of so, write several DAQmxSetDigitalPowerUpStates() with different hardcoded calls a number of settings and switch between them during execution. I joined ppus_set.c, which is supposed to randomly through the adjustment lines.

I hope that this should be a good starting point for you!

  • Outputs digital daq

    Hello

This should be very easy, but for some reason, I'm going to have questions. All I want to do has a switch control a digital output. I use a card NI 9742 Dsub (link), which should be capable of digital output.

My code, with a simulated map is attached. During the test I change the properties of the real card DAQ assistant.

Using this code, I can't get a DC output at all, my scope is all about 100mV. Using other cards, I have the analog i/o works fine, but for some reason, the digital output on this card isn't? In addition, if you look at the map, there are 8 green LEDs upward. I think that each specifies when an output should be enabled. When I turn on the switch, the corresponding led lights actually, but I can't measure a voltage? Is there a setting I'm missing?

I hope that makes sense. Thank you!

-secondary question: once it works, how can I change the output range. The specs say output 6V - 30V, but I do not see where to change that.

    g e m e n i,
I looked at your code and noticed that it includes only a DAQ Assistant and a Boolean matrix of values to write.

As it is currently, the VI will be only write a single value and then stop. In order to write constantly, you will need to place your code in a While loop.

If you see still no signal the evolution of 9742, consider opening one of the expedition DAQmx examples. You can find these examples in LabVIEW by going to help > find examples...

Try the following example: material input and output > DAQmx > digital generation > write hollow Chan.vi
