7 merger, El Capitan, dual display: Windows now refuses to use the second screen

Fusion 7.1.2

End 2012 27 "iMac (2560 x 1440, 2.9GHz i5, 24GO RAM) with a 24 '' Dell Ultrasharp (1920 x 1200) connected by a Thunderbolt-HDMI connector cable.

Guest operating system Windows 7 (and a couple of VM Ubuntu, not relevant here).

Before, I would start merging and Windows 7 would start automatically, as it has to do. He will start in his own space and use two screens, with the windows desktop 'main' (with the taskbar on the screen of the Mac) and the Dell used to extend space office (just like OSX).

I just upgraded to OSX to El Capitan and now it's borked:

1 Windows 7 starts automatically with Fusion (despite still be configured for this purpose). It is a minor annoyance but nothing more.

2. that's the real problem:

Windows displays the "BIOS" screen, and then the graphic screen "starting windows", then goes black. In preview VM library, I can see the login screen, but in the space of Windows, nothing. Just black.

When it happened first, I disconnected the monitor Dell, rebooted, logged on to Windows on one screen, then plugged the Dell back in and it worked. However, reconnected the external monitor on each startup of the machine is not my idea of fun or "just work".

I changed the display settings of VM Win7 molten (changed "use full resolution for the retina display" section, "Scaled high resolution" 'Unity only' drop-down to "all display modes" and now I can see the Windows login screen in half the width and height of the main screen.) If I log in I get two desktops to a Windows display value, crammed into the width, and half of the height of the 27 "display, with nothing on the external monitor. No amount of reconnected does not change this.

I restarted the VM and OSX more than once since upgrading to El Capitan, so a simple reboot won't be the solution.

Help!

He drives me crazy, any suggestions?

I had another couple of VM Ware support calls and there is a solution (which works for me) and a fix promised in the next version of Fusion 8 (I presume it comes to version 8.0.2) which should be days (rather than weeks) away.

The fix may or may not be folded in to Fusion 7.

The workaround is: parameters of OSX--> Mission control--> check "screens have a separate space.

The downside is that when dragging between spaces, you often have to swipe the two screens, top menu bars have more two screens in OSX, but I can cope with it for a few days.

  • CTRL-Alt-2 moves to the second screen windows - how to disable

    Hello

I have a new computer to dual screen in Windows 8.  When I do Ctrl + Alt + 2, my current window is moved to the screen 2 (and equivalent to 1).  Does anyone know if it is a shortcut of Windows 8 or another utility?  I have a nVidia graphics card and the 7200LE Panel is not shortcut (besides the stereoscopic 3D features that are disabled).

The problem is that Windows seems to treat the key ALT GR (right Alt key for the keyboard layout of the French-Canada) as a combination of Ctrl + Alt, then when I press Alt Gr + 2 to type the symbol @, my window also moves to the second screen.  The equivalent problem is when I type the ± symbol (AltGr + 1 gives my character, and move the window), but this isn't as big a problem.

Anyway, if anyone knows how to disable the Ctrl + Alt + 2 sets of shortcuts, or how to make windows treat differently the keys Ctrl + Alt, AltGr do let me know.

    Thank you
    IM

I had the same problem, and in my case it was a third-party application that came with a USB to DVI adapter.

The utility is called "MCTDUtil.exe" and is in "\Program Files".

It has a visible icon called "Super Utility".  There, you have a menu called "Multi Display Control Panel".  The Ctrl-Alt-1 and Ctrl-Alt-2 are mapped to do exactly this: move the window being displayed 1 and 2 respectively.  You can disable the feature of this Panel.

I suspect that this utility is not necessary and can be removed.

    Hi a. Cook,

    (1) how long have you been faced with this problem?

  • Can I do a fresh install of Windows 7 Home and use the old product key?

    Hello

I got a laptop from a former employer who removed the hard drive before give me the computer.

I installed a new hard drive and you want to do a fresh install.

The previous operating system was Windows 7 Pro OA Enterprise Edition and I have the product key for it.

Can I do a fresh install of Windows 7 Home and use the old product key?

and after that I still increases to 10 Windows using the same product key?

    Concerning

    Regrow72

If you have plans to upgrade to Windows 10 Home, I would skip trying to reinstall Windows 7 and go directly to Windows 10.

You can use your family Windows 7 product key to install Windows 10, learn how:

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

When you switch to full-screen playing a video, the message appears that the site now uses the full screen, which is often boring because it blocks the part of the screen for a few seconds. How this message can be deleted?

In Firefox 40 and 41, you can probably remove this notification by setting full-screen - api .approval-required to false.

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • Windows xp hung up on the loading screen

I have a gateway LT2016U and windows is suspended upward at the loading screen. the status bar continues to go, but the light of the hard drive on the computer is turned off. When I go to the safe made it stops at the line multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (2) \windows\system32\drivers\amdagp.sys to safe mode startup. When I try and make a last known good config is located just at the windows loading screen.

you could also try mode safe mode with command prompt and see if you get anywhere with the machine.

If nothing, i.e. None of these boot menu options work, then you should borrow a cd from someone win xp so that you can start with it and start the recovery console.

I do not have a netbook, but its likely your bios can support USB boot.  in this case, you need a usb cd drive in order to use the above method.

If using the cd xp is not possible, then your only recourse is to go on the net House books site and see if there are tips that you can use.   but I guess the only option they will bring must provide the step on performing a factory restore, that will wipe the drive and reinstall the original software.

the original software is the will is in a hidden partition which is inactive on the hard drive.  then using a certain key sequence, the hidden partition will be re-activated and start restoring.

but send an email to their tech support and see what they say too.
