750 - 247c envy: wiped my HDD of withdrawal Win10, no boot or partition sector, no mouse or KB install Win7 Pro

I just bought a 750-247c with Win10 desire. Not like that OS, I tried to remove it, couldn't, so I wiped the drive, including partitions, recovery, everything. I then formatted the specification of Win7, no partitions, a 2T HARD drive, I did HD0 and the other 128G HD1, they have all both been wiped and reformatted. I changed the boot sequence to boot from the CD first, active from legacy devices. I understand that installing a new OS to relocate a boot located, etc.

With a newly purchased Win7 Pro disc, the machine will boot from the CD, open the language, the time format and the currency, the small keyboard, but I don't have a keyboard mouse to make a selection to continue the installation. Mouse and KB are USB devices and ports are all enabled.

I've tried everything I know to get this thing up and ongoing delivery, I am relatively computer warned having started several years ato with a Commodore 64 and tons of repair of computers and the configuration in the past. This thing baffled me and I need to turn it on.

Thanks for the support!

Normally the plastic in the middle of the port part is blue, in comparison to the other USB ports, and those which are marked with SS go USB 3.0.

The SS is supposed to indicate high speed (super). A port with a lightning bolt in the symbol will be a USB high power, suitable for charging USB devices.

I hope this helps.

  • Impossible to install Win7 on ENVY 15 t-j000

    I recently bought a HP ENVY 15 t QUAD - E4T17AV

It comes with Win8 and I honestly can't stand it. Trying to reinstall with Win7, I am unable to find discs to install to. I searched the devmgr win8 to get information about the SATA controller and chipset. I downloaded the drivers and when you attempt to add during the Win7 it found the drivers that are compatible with my system, but when I try to install I get the error ' no new devices not could be found.

I enabled legacy startup options, disabled secure boot, changed the boot order, all that good stuff.

I tried to install SATA drives both mSATA connected, that only have one or the other and receive the same error each time. I used several different drivers of HP and Intel, and all receive the same error.

I read the other messages from people who say that they install Win7 on their 15 t, it must be possible.

    Hi there @infohack

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.

I can certainly understand your concern about this mix of partitions, and I am happy to help you with this.

As a first step, this page: partitioning and naming of readers (Windows 8)

There is also this post of @Daniel_Potyrala , even if reference is made to windows 7, it is loaded with useful information that applies to windows 8 as well. Its theme is more on the preparation of another drive with partitions, but this part of the update, there is information on the purpose of most of the partitions that you ask the subject.

How to repartition the disk HARD of HP notebook with pre-installed Windows 7

Since some of the partitions you listed are not labeled, it is difficult to tell what some of them are, but in a UEFI environment, it is possible one of those is a part of this environment. The recovery partition would have your plant to install the image. I would recommend you do a CD set of recovery as well via the recovery manager. You can make only one series.

I hope this helps a little.

I'm having a ton of trouble with this machine... I love the hybrid drive for its super fast service, but no matter what I do, everything is stored on the SSD (c), with no way to change things.  I changed the storage settings to ask him to save all apps, docs and media on drive D: (HD).  I am running Quickbooks 2015 and ALL my data, documents, program files, ect... are on the C: drive, so I keep getting messages that I ran out of memory.  I can't even save my QB files to uninstall and try to reinstall (which I did 3 times now).

I already deleted everything I can (except all the s * & t HP put here that I don't want or need).

  • 750 - 140z envy: envy 750-140z is compatible with AMD RX 480?

Envy - what is compatible with AMD RX 480 750-140z? I guess I should also upgrade the PSU?

    Hi there @NicholasBraden,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that you are looking for advice with an update of the graphics card. I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

    Using the following sources:

HP ENVY 750-140z computer CTO product specifications and configurable options

HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, Orchid3

    Radeon™ RX 480 graphics card - amd.com

    Your system has a PCI Express x 16 (Gen 3.0) slot and a power of 300 W.

The specifications of the AMD 480 RX do not have some details that I'm normally looking like minimum power supply requirement. On the contrary, it shows typical Board power of 150W, which is not a list of peak power.  It also does not indicate the number and type of additional power connectors are needed, or the generation of slot PCIe required.  However, your motherboard has gen 3.0 I mentioned already so it's not likely to be a problem.

So having a typical power consumption of 150 W for the card and to be sure, assuming that your system uses near the 300 W provided by the existing power, you're looking at least 450w for common use.  I suggest to go much higher than that, probably more to 550-600 W for a replacement hard drive, but you want to know what additional connections are required and ensure that the food get you has those which are available in both the type and the number.

There is no guarantee that any parts added to a system will be compatible, and as it is your system is not compatible if only on the question of food.

Please let me know if this is useful, and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • Envy 17-n111tx: Envy 17-n111tx HDD/SSD Configuration

    Hello

I would like to replace one of the hard drives of 2 TB with an SSD (Crucial MX200 250 GB) and then put the HARD drive in the optical drive Bay.

    Here are my questions:
    1. what kind of SSD do I need, the 2.5 "or M2?
2 should I all media for this?
3 I need supports when installing the HARD disk in the optical drive Bay?
    4. among the two hard drives of 2 TB, which is installed the OS on?

    Thanks for your help

    Kam124,

I have found some additional reading for you - on the "Equipment and upgrade" section of this forum.

In the "Discussion forums" (upper left corner), select "Notebook Hardware Upgrade issues and.

Next - search once you're in the hardware section - 'HP 17 n' which will take you to tread:

Re: HP Envy 17 n-000, also known as the M8W99AV_1

This discussion (with photos), this is what you are needing to know the upgrade of your system - the only difference is, you already have the hard-drive-kit (hardware) they discuss.  So you will not need to be overly concerned about adding 2nd HARD drive - but it is interesting to read.

The photos included - must be exactly what your system will look-very neat - and easy to upgrade.

ATTENTION: There is a link to youtube (on page 5) about how to add a 2nd HDD to an Envy 17 - this does NOT apply to your odel - is a portable 17 alumni.

Some centers of discussion on the SSD m2 - I have not looked at all this discussion - but I'm sure it will be interesting.

    Hope this helps,

  • 750 - 177C envy: addition of Samsung SSD for envy 750-177C

I just bought a HP Envy 750-177c. I have it operational and it works very well. I had installed a Samsung 850 EVO SSD in my old computer and now want to add to it. I have an external cloning device that I can plug it into the computer and launch the software from Samsung to clone the HD HP. Once this is done, I will be able to add the SSD to the drive Bay and make the boot drive. I did all these steps with my old computer, so I think that it will be substantially the same with the RESUME. I wonder if there is any change in the BIOS, that I should do to get the best performance from the drive. I also heard AHCI. Is selectable via the BIOS with Windows 10, or do I have to make some changes by Reg Edit? I need to download a driver AHCI? Is this useful?

    Thanks for the tips.

    Robb

    Hi @RobbL!

When it comes to SSD, I suggest you to activate the AHCI because it often improves performance when it comes to SSDS (and not only - if you are running an SSD and a HARD disk HARD drive will get some push), and it offers a few additional features like connection hot records.

You can activate it by following these steps:

    * Let the connected existing boot drive.
    * Go to MSCONFIG and set the PC to boot in safe mode.
    * Power cycle your PC all the way to the top in safe mode then power down in safe mode.
    * Turn on and boot into the BIOS and enable the AHCI and disable secure boot. Save the changes.
    * Restart your PC. If OK at this stage then return to MSCONFIG and uncheck start safe mode and save the changes.
    * Turn on your PC and if OK then power off.
    * Connect the new SSD and power upward.
    * Use the cloning software to clone the old disk on the new SSD.
    * Switch off the PC. Disconnect the old drive and plug the new SSD in this SATA port.
    * Lights up and you should be good to go.

Regarding the drivers, you can take a look at this article from HP on the SSD:

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

  • Recovery disks contradictory w / upgrade HP Envy 17 3D [HDD-> SSD]

    Hey everybody!

I have a HP ENVY 17 t - 1100 CTO 3D Edition laptop with Windows 7. He had two hard drives in it, 500 GB a piece. I just put the primary HDD with a SSD Samsung 840 Pro Series drive. Before I did the swap, I did recovery DVD from my system. I am able to get to the Manager of HP recovery during the boot sequence, but the ability to perform a factory reset is grayed out. Because I can not install my HP Win 7 DVD, so I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 in the meantime. But I still prefer to use my recovery disks because the 3D work well with Windows 8.1. My drive is of type is Basic.

    Thank you

Recovery discs are usually working on a smaller than the original hdd. An option could be reducing the C partition on the original hdd to the SSD size and then clone it to the SSD.

Or - you can copy the folder the original hard drive on a DVD or a flash drive SwSetup, use the installation programs of the drivers/software on a clean install of Windows 7.

    =============================

If you can read the Microsoft Windows 7 of 25-character license key, you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD or USB flash drive. The version must match that's installed on your PC as shown on the sticker COST Microsoft fixed on the bottom of the laptop. Like Windows Home Premium.
