  Hello, I can't install SP1 on my Toshiba Satellite P205.  I tried in vain for two years and decided this week to branch out to help.  I have Vista Home Premium and I reset my story was updated following the steps described on by Microsoft support, so I can't tell you the last successful update installed.  I use 32-bit windows.  I have McAfee Total Protection anti-virus and firewall.

  Here are the last 3 error messages.  80070020, 800705 4, 800705 4 B B

  The steps I took-

  Download the latest Service Pack 1 and install it do not use Windows Update - did not work

  Back to zero/changed place of Windows Update? -compensation to history - did not work

  Downloaded and installed the tool - did not work

  off McAfee restarted and tried to install it using windows update - did not work

  Started in safe mode, tried to install it using windows update - did not work

  I'd appreciate any help you can offer!  Thanks in advance.

  I tried to install an Intel Corp. display Mobile 4 series Express Chip Set (optional update) for my Win 7 weeks ago. It would not install and I got the error code (I think) 8007013 someone said it meant I probably already have a newer version on my Win 7 (64-bit) computer and do abstraction just download it again and it would be eventually from optional update page.

  He disappeared, but tonight, I noticed another optional update and without thinking, I tried to install it (thinking it was a newer version):

  Also, check your windows update settings and provide recommended updates is not selected for the automatic update, but only the important updates.

  Aside from not not using drivers available under recommended updates, for all other first check the details as to whether its relevant for your specific use.

  If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.
