A backup raid 1 drive

Hello

I have the old server of 2650 with perc 3/di raid controller.

I have some problems with the raid and in result - disappeared from the raid 1 container.

So, I want to just get a Linux RAID 1 disk and copy all the information from it.

In the BIOS I change RAID SCSI, but when I get the disc I don't see anything about it.

Where I was wrong?

Thank you

UPD.

I have a chance with the following variant:

In the bios I create the container with a hard drive - raid 0.

Then I boot linux (I can see this container as/dev/sda), run the testdisk program - it find all my partitions and save to disk. After the reboot, I see all my partitions as/dev/sda1, / dev/sda2... etc. I go up and copy all my data.

Thanks for the reply.

  • Backup external hard drive

I recently bought a computer with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I attached an external hard drive to it. I want to keep the clean C drive with only the OS and programs held on this subject. The external hard drive contains files of data and images. I have attached a second external hard drive to the computer. I want to be able to plan a backup from the first disk to the second external drive, but the backup and Recovery wizard seems to allow only a backup of the drive C. is there something that I am missing in the wizard? Or is there something else I can do for my first external backup drive?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi rdenn_58,

    Thanks for posting your request.

The back up files Wizard, included in Windows Vista Home Basic Edition, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista professional, Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, allows you to save your files and data from an external hard drive, CD, DVD, network location and also a secondary hard drive. Although there is no option to schedule a backup to an external drive to a second external drive using the Back Up Files Wizard.

To copy or move files from one external drive to another, you can use the following steps:

You can create a backup of the files on a CD or DVD before you copy or move files.

To copy the files from the first disk to the second external drive, you can use Windows Explorer by going to: start > click computer > double click on the drive letter for the first external drive and then copy the files / folders that you want to back up, and then paste the second external disk drive by opening a second window of the computer. You can also drag and drop files from the first disk to the second external drive using Windows Explorer.

How to get files from a backup external hard drive for windows 7 pro. ? I DON'T WANT TO RESTORE WINDOWS 7, JUST MY PHOTOS & DOCUMENTS.    TO THANK THE TAXI 53 DRIVER

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

You can restore backed up files lost, damaged, or accidentally modified versions. You also to restore files individual, groups of files, or all files that you have saved.

If you are restoring files from a backup that was made on another computer, the files are restored in a folder under the user name that was used to create the backup. If the user names are different, you must navigate to the folder where the files are restored.

I suggest you use the steps in this article and check if it helps.

  • Previews old stalemate in backups from hard drive

When I backup my hard drive to another hard drive, using software of Vica-Versa, there are often many (thousands) of former LR preview files that should be deleted on the backup drive.  With Vica-Versa just failed process and can take forever.  I tried several other backup programs and that you have found no solution.  Is there a way to prevent the creation of previews of all LR?  I know that would slow me as I work with Lightroom, but right now I'd be willing to wait a little longer for an overview to be reconstructed only so must be faced with the incredible amount of time it takes to backup my hard drive.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.  Frank.  [email protected]

    Frank,

You don't really need to backup your previews. You can't tell your backup for just program save the LR database and skip the previews? It seems a better solution that having not realized at all, which would make it nearly totally useless LR.

Most backup programs will allow you to select what is backed up. If yours is not, perhaps a better solution would be to find another.

  • Backup Restore Time Machine does not see RAID external drive

    Hi all

I have a problem with my iMac restore from a Time Machine backup, and I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem already.

I had to reinstall OS X El Capitan from scratch, based on education, I received Support from Apple. That worked without problems and my iMac works fine. However, I wanted to restore it to how it was before, using Time Machine. I keep my backups on a LaCie 5big Thunderbolt 2 and never had any problems with it.

To restore the system, I followed the instructions on the Support page. I restarted my system in recovery mode and selected the "restore from Time Machine backup". Unfortunately the LaCie 5big does not appear on the list of drives, so I'm stuck... When you use the system in normal mode, the external RAID is visible and Time Machine stores backups on it without any problem.

Any of you are familiar with this problem? I would be very grateful if you could help me with this problem!

    Kind regards

    Valerio

    Hello

-While the system is booted in recovery mode, confirm that the Lacie 5big network is visible in disk utility.   You will need to disconnect / reconnect the Thunderbolt cable to the Lacie 5big be detected.

-Once seen, a new attempt to restore from Time Machine backup.

    See you soon

My question is - is it possible in this way? It would save a lot of time from having to reinstall the OS and all software.

    Hi DALE_F,

If you perform a complete PC backup image, you should be able to reinstall this image from backup to the new hard drive.

  • New MBP and two raid 0 drives 4 GB 7200 rpm or replace a small SSD

    Hello

I apologize if this in the forum somewhere.  I'm looking for 4 hours through the posts and cannot find an answer to this question.

I ordered a new Macbook Pro products listed below.

MacBook Pro 15 inch with Retina display

    • 2.8 GHz Quad - core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.0 GHz
    • 16 GB 1600 MHz SDRAM DDR3L
    • Storage 1 TB PCIe Flash
    • Graphics card Intel Iris Pro + AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory

In my research, it seems that the best configuration will add two additional discs.

I want to purchase the LaCie 9000601 robust Raid Thunderbolt.  Its configured as a RAID 0 4 GB (2x2gb configured raid 0) read and write speed is rated at 240 MB/sec.  For the third disc is there going to be any speed up if I did for one SSD drive with read and write speeds above 400 MB/s?  If I won't see any significant speed I would make the 3rd disc an additional LaCie.

    So the two configurations:

    #1

C: 1 PCIe storage to Flash

D: drive for raid 0 4 GB lightning

E: drive for raid 0 4 GB lightning

    #2

C: 1 PCIe storage to Flash

D: drive for raid 0 4 GB lightning

E: 500 MB SSD with reading and writing of at least 400 MB/s

I will mainly be 4K video editing from a 3 ghost drone.  Most of the videos will need only some basic edition/transitions and possibly a color correction.  I would like to modify in real time or near it and have always render as low as possible. I will be editing in Premiere Pro CS6 and could switch to CC.

I appreciate all the comments.  If it not is not much of a difference, I would #1 configuration where it provides an extra 3.5 GB or storage and is cheaper at the same time.

Thanks for your comments and help.

    Gary

It seems that the ghost 3 mp4/h264 files? These files will be slightly compact vs other formats, reducing the demand placed on the disc. LaCie rugged raid should operate correctly for the media to hold, and then you can set the project on the C: drive cache. If you work on small projects, you will be able to store everything on the flash disk and the backup to an external drive. If you want to keep on an external drive media, the DSS will provide faster response times to access the various elements when editing.

  • External RAID 0 drive for the reader to "work"?

Does anyone have an experience on the use of an external drive of Raid0 for the directory of files work with LR3 + and Windows 7 64?  Raw files are mainly of a Canon 5 d 2, which makes them more 20Meg after conversion to DNG.

My workflow means that files are moved to other readers in a week or two and will be saved since the external RAID every day as well but is not on the backup, but rather a quick and flexible system that allows me to easily work with files on several computers.

Any ideas or experiences to be more welcome. Thank you.

Just as an update where everyone wonders how external eSATA andRAID 0 works with LR and W7 64 bit, the answer is in fact very well.

  • RAID hard drives, mark Question (evil?)

I'm about to buy two disks for RAID0 for assets on my i7 rig, running Windows 7 (Yes, I'm aware of RAID0 is for execution only, I backup all the time). It would be great to get two 1 TB WD RE3 for a total of 2 TB (approximately $320 delivered), but I'm a cheapskate under budget constraint. This Samsung drive would provide sufficient space for the moment in a pair and is literally half the price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152118

Two of them would be $170 shipped and be only a ½ TB more small once RAIDed the WDs. BUT, everyone has use these disks? I don't want to save money if it brings little reliability. Wrong, if you read this, I remember you say you use Samsungs?

Yes, I use Samsungs F1 and as for you, it is a budget oriented choices. However, I have 16 of them.

One thing to consider is that you intend to use them in Raid0, who has no redundancy. Reliability is so important to consider. Bill was awarded a contract of nice with 7200,12 records. It is a possibility, the other is the WD RE, that you mentioned, or the Samsung F3. Note, however, that I had 2 out of my failure of 16 disks in the first 4 months. At the same time replaced under warranty and after the reconstruction of the matrix, without loss of data. That, unfortunately is a luxury, you have with raid0. It's a tough call to say "get it". How critical is the data about the raid0, what facilities are to be restored in the event of a disk failure, what is it worth for you to $$$. My feeling is that the WD RE are the most reliable, the Samsung have the best price and 12 Seagates series is somewhere between the two.

There is no official method because it has problems.

    There's no official way.

    Here see Q18. http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html

We recommend that people not me there. It has not proven reliable long-term. Start a new backup on the TC and keep the USB stick in the form of archive. After a few months or a year you won't have it.

You have to understand the Time Machine backup otherwise locally the CF network. It is easy enough to move the backup network local but much harder the other way around.
