A connection VPN (PPTP), who worked previously no longer works.

original title: VPN works not

PROBLEM:

I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate SP2, with all Microsoft Updates applied.  My original CD is pre - SP1.
A connection VPN (PPTP), who worked previously no longer works.
I think that the problem is related to an installation of Virtual PC or iTunes, but I can't confirm either way.
Unfortuantely, I do not have a restore point dated to before the problem.

DETAILS OF THE PROBLEM:

When I'm viewing the network drivers in Device Manager, the following drivers displayed an error:

Miniport Wan (IP)
Miniport Wan WAN (IPv6)
Miniport Wan (Network Monitor)
Miniport WAN (PPPOE)
Miniport Wan WAN (PPTP)

The error for each text is: "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) »

The following drivers do NOT display an error:

Miniport Wan WAN (L2TP)
Miniport WAN (SSTP)

SOLUTIONS ALREADY ATTEMPTED:

Uninstalling Virtual PC has not solved the problem.
Uninstall device drivers and re - install it as described in the following web pages did not help the problem:

http://www.chicagotech.NET/NetForums/viewtopic.php?p=988&SID=39aeb8e5e43c459
http://www.howtonetworking.com/Vista/rebuildminiport.htm
http://www.experts-exchange.com/software/System_Utilities/Remote_Access/VPN/Q_24291900.html

In general, I am able to uninstall device drivers, but re-plant fails (sometimes reported as successful, sometimes not).

I have presented a problem report on the failure of resettlement of Microsoft (including the following in the log files), but have received no solution:

DMIC8E.tmp.log.XML
LOGC9F.tmp
netrasa.inf
Setupapi.app.log
Setupapi.dev.log

I noticed that the device (loser) of WAN Miniport (PPTP) lists two files: 'ndistapi.sys' and "raspptp.sys", of which the first is NOT digitally signed, but the second is.  However, the peripheral Miniport WAN (L2TP) (work) lists only one file: "rasl2tp.sys" which is signed digitally.  This brings me to the question if my netrasa.inf installation file is currupted. (?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I am technically competent and can deal with editing the registry, etc, but need a plan of attack.

Thank you!

-Tad Richard

Hi Tadrichard,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft answers Forum.

Is there an error when they try to establish the connection, if so, what is the error?

Are there errors in the event logs?

  • Not ios10 blocking VPN PPTP connections through personal hotspot?

I use an iPhone 6 + and was upgraded to ios10, two days ago.

While I don't have a configuration of the VPN connection on the phone, I connect my computer laptop personal hotspot of the iPhone to use internet and sometimes connect to a VPN.

Before my upgrade to ios10, my laptop could still connect to the VPN while connected to the hotspot from my iPhone.

After that I updated to ios10, my laptop does not connect to the VPN I connect to.

I see reports that Apple has abandoned the use of the connection for PPTP VPN connections on ios10.

But most of the people having problems seem to be people who connect to their phones directly to the VPN in the iPhone settings.

In my case, my phone is just acting under the guidance of the internet on my laptop but it seems that it does not obstruct my laptop to connect to a pptp even connection if that should have no impact on the phone itself.

I went down to ios9 and my laptop can connect again to the VPN.

But now my Apple Watch does not work with my phone because I improved the watch to os3.

Any ideas if there is a work around for the connection for pptp connections using the hotspon on ios10?

  • E3000 resets occasionally wired port when connecting to the VPN PPTP using Windows 7.

I've had an E3000 for a few months now and a couple of times per week that the router loses wired Ethernet connectivity while PPTP VPN connects via Windows 7. The router does not actually resets itself... but darkens light of wired connection, the computer establishing VPN, and connectivity to the router is lost. Within 30 to 45 seconds, the port becomes active, once more, and to establish the VPN connection. I've not seen this on a wireless connection, but I do not often, which may be why. Similarly, I have not seen this on my Vista or XP wired computers using the Windows VPN client... but then again I can't use them often enough to meet the problem.

I see this mostly on my Windows 7 (x 64) SP1, it also appeared pre - SP1, development equipped PC IP6 disabled on the PPTP VPN. And I don't see that on the establishment of a connection... once the connection has been made I can be operational for hours (5/6 or more a day) with no issue.

While this issue causes me all real headaches like this doesn't happen on the connection... I thought someone should know.

    abandoned,

Gave to your suggestion to try, but did nothing to eliminate the problem. The router was already on the version the most recent but re-flashed in any case. I ran 3 days on an old Windows XP machine connected to a different port on the router, I had 3 days to do work, and I've never had the drop on the VPN port. But this morning back on my Windows 7 machine... the port fell during my first attempt... I then had no problem, the rest of the day. Despite her disconnect and reconnect a PPTP VPN a few times more. Go figure.

Let's consider this resolved... as I don't want to lose too much everyones time hassling with something that seems to be minor. Thanks for the help!

  • How can I connect to someone who is hacking my network?

How can I connect to someone who is hacking my network?

    Hi Frank,.

What kind of network - your internet connection?  your intranet from home or the office (and it is wireless or wired or both)?  An ad - hoc network or a network based on the domain server (and if the latter, what type of server)?  The network hosts a web site, an exchange server that is accessible by internet, or also allowed incoming connections?  How many computers is on the network and what are the current use operating systems and who do you think are presented?  If you use a router, is protected by a router security identifier unique and a password (no admin / admin or other default standard settings, everyone knows) and a unique key and what type of security type (WPA, WPA2,...) and what type of encryption code?  This can be verified by the computer and others need to be checked or enabled via the router you can reach most likely through your browser by typing 192.168.1.1 where you would normally enter a URL.  If this isn't the correct code, then see below for IPCONFIG and would probably be the address that you want as the gateway by default and possibly the address of the DHCP server or the DNS server address as well and use what is there instead.  What type of method of internet access (DSL, cable, Satellite,...)?

How do you know if that someone is hacking your system?  What evidence do you have that it happens or happened?  How do you think that piracy happens - happens through your connections in real-time (as if someone used a remote access or remote desktop) or it occurs because you seem to see the proof of it (if so, what evidence)?  I am trying to determine if a person has a path in your system directly or whether you are infected with malware that allows a periodic access or 'appear' as you are being hacked, when you are just infected.

Do you notice it when it is real or only later after it occurred?  What exactly is the pirate make - information collection, change of information, install programs, remove programs or information, theft of bandwidth, or you are not sure and don't know exactly?  This happens only when you are connected to the internet or does it also occur when you are not connected and just using the computers and devices that are other interconnected?  If it isn't when it is connected to the internet, which helps limit the possibilities.

If you are present and it's ongoing, click on start / all programs / accessories / right-click on command prompt and click Run as administrator.  Then type IPCONFIG/all and enter.  Which should display all connections to your computer, and if anyone is connected, this connection must appear, as well as login information and include information such as address TCP/IP (which may be useful to know).  Create a capture image or printscreen of the information.

If you use Vista or Windows 7, go to start / Control Panel / Network and sharing Center / discover computers and devices.  Is there a link that doesn't seem right or that you don't recognize?  Come back and click on manage network connections.  Are there connections that you don't recognize?  If so, click on them and learn what you can about the properties and other information - create a capture of information or save a printscreen image.

You use the Windows Firewall and is it activated and functioning?  Open and check exceptions and remove the items that you do not use or do not need - by default adds a lot of things that most people do not use. and everyone is a path in your system.  The less open ports, the better.  Do not remove everything you really need, but uncheck everything you don't need (you can always add it back later if the need ever happens).

It's just a start on what to do to gather information.  I need the results and answers to give additional advice on what to do next - depending on what you have to say.

Most likely, we will be able to best prevent access or possibly with the help of your ISP and the ISP of the hacker TCP/IP address (if we find the it), be able to identify who it is and stop it or help you gather enough information take legal or security action against the person or persons responsible.  Ago probably pirates out there that can do what you're tempted, but also provides methods of hacking (and that is basically what YOU want to do) is not something we support or help someone to do here.  To help you protect your system is one thing and we'll do what we can to help here - teach you how to hack the somone who is hacking you is quite another and we will not be involved in this.

  • Users cannot access internet when connected VPN

    Hello

I have users located outside the United States than VPN for our system. Once connected, they get an address from the pool designated for them. However, they are unable to connect to internet when connected. I don't want to use split-mining because some of the sites they connect to will not work properly because their address IP is located outside the United States. I tried both without client anyconnect and vpn client version

  • Any concerns of connection VPN security issue.

    Hi guys,.

I set up a VPN on Cisco ASA & our mobility users are able to connect VPN successfully and access my LAN environment but our senior management says there provide less security & any hacker can hack easily.

Someone can help me on this point, how can provide more security in Anyconnect VPN, I think on the Anyconnect host control features, but I think it works only with the secure desktop.

    Kind regards

    Nafis Ashique

In short, you have just a few steps:

    1. enroll the certificate root of your PKI to customers and to the ASA (if not already done).
    2. enroll certificates from the client to the customers. It will be easier if they are in the user store. As far as I know, you cannot use the certificates stored in the IPsec VPN client store.
    3. reconfigure the ASA to use certificate authentication

  • [Issue] The connected VPN SX20, that I need more?

Hello. I'm number one special facfing which I have never seen elsewhere.

    Please, see this photo belowed.

We use the H323 Protocol with mode of ISDN G/W 3241 interal Gatekeeper to call leave SX20 to other SX20.

You may feel weired because we do not use VCS, but instead of him, we use the internal ISDN G/W Gatekeeper.

ISDN to IP and IP to ISDN call works well. but on the connected VPN SX20(Building D) has some problem.

He has no problem on H323 mode "live". but, once it changed to H323 mode "keeper."

It seems to see on ISDN G/w registed.

but when we begin to call, building D SX20 is keeping just "Composition" State and never step of 'connection '.

The only one I hear is unlimited ringtone SX20 building D, and the opposite of SX20 stopovers to

Building D SX20 call also gives the same result. "the composition of demonstration" but no signal has not reached side opponent.

This problem appeared on the VPN connection, so I need to check what I most when the value on the VPN connection for telepresence.

Dose anyone know about this issue?

If you want to use the feature GK, you use the gk mode.

The VPN has very probably some treatment of layer 3 for h323 or some ports are not open.

Behind the VPN endpoint and the rest of your ip based video systems must have

direct ip connectivity without NAT and required ports must be open.

And for h323, it's a whole lot of ports.

Especially if the public ip and uri dial connectivity is on the future roadmap I would inquire

using a vcs or cucm setup.

The PIX cannot re - route traffic to the Internet because it's a feature supported on version 7.x and higher. You cannot execute code on PIX501 7.x.

You can send all traffic through the tunnel (for the PIX) and have the PIX route this traffic to a router internal (on the head), then rewritten the PIX to the Internet.
