A few questions about RAM upgrade for Tecra M5 (PTM51E)

Hallo

I have Tecra M5 (PTM51E). My questions are:

Is it possible to put even more RAM on my laptop? (Now I have 1 GB),
Should what kind of RAM I buy?
Where can I buy it?

And I can put this RAM on my laptop by myself or it is not so easy to do this?

Hallo

You can upgrade your Tecra up to 4 GB of RAM. Compatible modules are:

PA3499U - 1 M 25 (Kit of memory 256 Mo DDR2-667)
PA3511U - 1 M 51 (Kit of memory 512 MB DDR2-667)
PA3512U-1M1G(DDR2-667 1GB Memory Kit)
PA3513U-1M2G(DDR2-667 2GB Memory Kit)
DDR2-533 256 MB (PA3389U - 2M 25)
512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)

Use the part numbers and put in the Google. You will find many online shops where you can order.
You can also visit the homepage of Kingston and find compatible modules for your Tecra. Use only the numbers of parts and search for cheaper online store.

All that s!

Subject of the Exchange there not a lot of philosophy. See page 151 in s manuals for your Tecra.
Everything is described here.

This laptop model can was delivered with different drives (6 20 GB). I don't know one you have now.

  • A few questions about the upgrade on Satellite A300-144

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
    Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

    > 2. Intel says that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • When is MS stop support Vista service pact 2 and a few questions about the upgrade to the new version

    Hello comrades,.

I have a few questions and concerns, and hope that you guys can share with me some lights here.

    1. What is MS stop supports the Covenant of service about the update of windows Vista 2 / other online support?

    2. my computer is vista based 32 bit, ultimate version. I heard that there are a lot of wonderful things about Windows 8. Should I move to Windows 8, or should I actually wait awhile then buy a new computer with Windows 8 64 bit attached?

Honestly, it's a question that has been bothering me for some time. But my laptop is 4 GB of RAM, 1920 x 1080 HD display, 300 GB HARD drive at 5400 RPM (cost me a lot - it's a SONY) and have been works very well even with vista, the operating system highly complainted by many others. I think it would be a waste to buy a new computer, including the so-called net-books and i - PAD, I know, they are beautiful and sexy, but looking at their record, I was speechless. Yet knowing 32bits was maximum and MS has already announced that they stopped support for Vista SP1, consider that SP2 is expected online.

    3. how long do you 32-bit based can last? Should I increase the RAM of 4 GB to 6 GB and upgrade to Windows 8?

    4. How about 64-bit based of the future? Or is it true that most of the computer manufacturing starts in the future these application device of the base (not the real computer-driven software)?

    5. or should I forget it all, wait 3-4 years, until my laptop would be a museum piece, then buy a desktop computer which monitor and hard drive is all separated, knowing it is the best technique for the $s and phone for mobile computing laptop use there?

I understand that this is somewhat a personal decision, but I really appreciate you guys Preview on the path of the operating system! Thank you

Yes it will work to buy a copy upgrade of Windows 8.   This is a custom installation rather than an upgrade in place once you switch between 32-bit and 64-bit.  However you can still save money by buying the upgrade license.

More important is that all the drivers you need will be available.  Your computer manufacturer will not write drivers for Windows 8 because the computer has been out of production far too long.

Windows 8 is a significant departure from previous versions and I suggest that you upgrade to Windows 7 If you are tired of Vista or wait until you buy a new computer before Windows 8.  You read the discussions on the forums of Windows 8 CP.  At this point, there are many critics of Windows 8 due to the removal of the Start button and Start Menu.  Many people dislike having to rely on style Metro Screen start for many things.  It is becoming a major concern.

To navigate to the Windows 8 CP forums use in the middle of the dropdown at the top of this forum page.

Note:  Microsoft has not announced that there will be copies upgrade for Windows 8.  Microsoft has already stopped providing copies of upgrade of Office is not yet clear what will be available for 8.

  • Satellite 3000 - X 4: Question about RAM upgrade

    Hi all

I'm looking for more information on how to upgrade the RAM for my SATELLITE S3000 - X 4 (120 MB RAM, 14 GB HD I think!). Here's a little history...

This laptop is about 5 years old, and I'm hoping to speed up a bit. I don't want to buy a new computer because she usually serves my needs.

I emptied my hard drive files and unwanted programs. And I ran Jv16 Power Tools to clean the registry and minimize starts the process.

It's always a little slow and if I am considering upgrading the RAM because I think I can do this for about £50. My questions are:

What type of upgrade RAM should I look to buy? (This laptop have 2 RAM "plug-ins" or just one?)
What is the size of RAM upgrade is the maximum an S3000 - X 4 could face?
Could a novice like me to adapt to the style DIY upgrade?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

    Gabrielle

    Hi Gabrielle

He is old enough. I looked for some info, but unfortunately I n t have not found much. The device can use the 512 MB of RAM, and you can use 2 sticks of memory. I'm not 100% sure but I think you can use the module with tracking number PA3086U - 1. 25 M.

The unit is not known to me but please check the underside. On most units, you can find coverage of memory.

  • Question about updating drivers for Tecra A9

    Hello

I noticed that support Toshiba updates drivers for Tecra A9 very slowly even if they introduce important features. For example, the display driver for 965 graphics worm 15 is much better than 14 worm distributed by Toshiba. I know that pilots are tuned and Toshiba has many models to take care, but several months of waiting seems to be too long. I do not expect that all minor versions are updated, but the most important should be!

    Kind regards
    Marek

Having the latest drivers would be nice, but its different for laptops. Motorists need to be customized for the features of the laptop, and they probably need to go through quality control, testing too although I guess.

However there may be a solution, you can try to install the drivers later on newer models such as the Tecra A10 and M10 :)

  • Satellite M40x-149 - Question about RAM upgrade

Currently, I have 512 MB of RAM and want to upgrade. The jury of the RAM has two screws, should I take this and replace it with an upgrade of RAM, or leave the original in and put the new in the slot on top?

    Thank you.

    Hi RareOz,

The amount of RAM you want after upgrade?
If you want a maximum of 1 GB of RAM for example, you can leave the original RAM in and buy 512 MB additional RAM.

But as far as I know M40x supports up to 2 GB of RAM, and that's why it would be necessary to install the module of RAM of 1 GB in each slot. That's why you need two new modules.

The specification is PC2700 SO - DIMM DDR - RAM.

  • Satellite Pro A100: Question about RAM upgrade and warranty

I just bought my machine and Ive decided to install some more ram. No one knows if it will affect my Gurentee. I can't find anything on the Web site on this topic. Should I get a Toshiba to install official repairman or something?
    Thank you

    Hello

Please check you user manual. Usually, the slot memory must be placed at the bottom of the unit. If you remove the cover, you should see the slots.
Usually memory upgrade procedure is described in the user manual so you can upgrade the memory yourself and the procedure of upgrading doesn t affect your warranty.
But please make sure you use the right modules.
However, you can also contact Toshiba for the upgrade of memory.

I have a Satellite A215-S7422 series. I want to spend my RAM from 1 to 4 GB because it s expandable to 4 GB. Now, I'm not 100% computer sauvy, but I know well. • Question about updating Bios for Tecra M5

I bought the new tecra as M5 on May 12, 2006. I found the following bios updates.

    16/05/06 update BIOS Toshiba 1.50 - TRAD
    16/05/06 update BIOS Toshiba 1.50 - WIN

Should I go for this upgrade? Please recommend me.

    Hello

I na? don't know why you want to update the BIOS.
Your device is fairly new in this case I na? t see any direction update the BIOS.
Please note that the update of the BIOS is not without risk.
If you use a bad BIOS or bad BIOS procedure if you may damage the card and these laptop parts are not very cheap.

I agree with Flo. If your laptop computer is operating properly you shouldn't? t make the updates to the BIOS.

  • Qosmio F10: Question about RAM upgrades

    Hello

I have a laptop Qosmio F10, and it crashed in the summer 2006, so I sent it to Toshiba and changed it the motherboard. I got a new version with the nVidia card 6600 and I have 2x512MB PC2700S DDR - RAM (the one that came with it, the one I added).

Recently, I managed to find a buyer for these Rams, to switch to 2 x 1 GB, so my question is: can the motherboard handle faster DDR - RAM (with 400 MHz instead of 333 MHz like the ones I have) or should I just stick with the same model (PC2700 - 333 MHz)?

    Thank you

    Hello

I recommend you to install a program of diagnosis of equipment as Everest Home edition for example. Then check how fast the bus (FSB) front supports.
If it s 400 Mhz or faster, then you can use the 400 Mhz memory modules.

    I hope I could help

    At soon amigo ;)

  • Question about Ram upgrade on a machine Satellite A110

    Hello

I wonder if I can replace my 512 MB PC 4200 Mhz SO - DIMM DDRII with a 2 GB PC 5300 Mhz SO - DIMM DRRII I to my Satellite A110?

    Thanks in advande.

    / Mattias

The laptop can be upgraded up to 2 GB. You can use the module of RAM 1 GB max in a memory slot!

The laptop seems to support FSB 533 MHZ and so I should be possible to use the 533 Mhz memory modules too

  • Recently bought a laptop computer; A few questions about the offer Upgrade to Windows 8

I have a few questions about the Upgrade of Windows 8 offer for new computers.  I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite S855-S5268 of amazon.com, which came with Windows 7 Home Premium.  Toshiba already has a beta version of drivers and utilities for Windows 8 for the S855 on their Web site.

    (1) I bought my laptop in July of this year, and I've not yet registered for 8 Windows Upgrade offer with Microsoft.  Am I still eligible to receive the upgrade, if I sign up soon?
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?
    (3) if I will be able to burn the installation media, I'll be able to erase my hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 8 (which I'd rather do, I have a lot of backups of my data).  I am aware that I would probably need to provide my product key Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM during the new installation, because it is an upgrade and not a full version; This isn't a big deal, because my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM product key is stuck at the bottom of my laptop.
    (4) my current copy of Windows 7 is activated by seeing my BIOS (I have a traditional BIOS, not a UEFI).  If I had to switch to Windows 8 and decide then I'd rather back in Windows 7, for example, a few months later, I'll be able to do that (I burned recovery of Windows 7 with the Toshiba utility disks, which I did), and Windows 7 will continue to activate by seeing my BIOS, even after the installation (and later remove) Windows 8?
    Thank you very much!

Yes, the registration period is between June 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013.
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?

Yes, the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 8 will allow you to create a bootable DVD or you can grab the ESD file and save it.

Yes and there are better ways to reinstall Windows 8 without using the installation disc, you can use the reset and refresh.

These steps will take you through refreshing your PC:

    · Press the Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

As long as you have a recovery disk which you should create or use the construction in the recovery partition, Yes, it will self activate.
    Thank you very much!
