A key is damaged on my satellite M30x

I have a X 30 M and the "s" on my keyboard key, is damaged, the black surface does not have the white support. Now, can I buy just this key or I have to buy all the keyboard?

Thank you

Chaves

Hello

As far as I know, it should be possible to replace only the key caps.
But nevertheless, you will need to contact the partner of Toshiba service in your country, because he can order the necessary parts.

    Hello

I put t know any diagnostic software that could analyze this question, I think that a technician of the ASP may be able to provide exactly this question results

    > What bothers me a little is that some time ago, I had the laptop and my knees and I forgot that a memory stick has been connected to the rear. The stick was pushed up and was slightly damaged.

I think this might be the reason why the laptop stopped while you touch the USB port eventually ports were damaged by using the memory stick, this could cause the laptop off

However, what we can do is to provide some suggestions and assumptions
It you want to know why this is happening exactly, then you need to contact a technician laptop for a control.

  • Satellite M30x not recognizing not all USB ports

My Satellite M30x has recently ceased to recognize all USB devices are connected that he, being a huge super biff computer I can only assume all my USB ports are totally exhausted.

If anyone has any other theories id be more than happy to hear... Thanks :)

    Hello

Something similar happened on my laptop. The laptop has stopped to recognize the external device (USB HDD). Someone told me that it happened because I used the safely remove. Usually, if you want to for example disconnect the USB HDD or USB key, you must use the remove before disconnecting the device from the laptop.
I just deleted all ports USB device and Manager after restarting the laptop operating system recognized all the USB ports again. Further, I have connected my external HARD drive, and it worked!

I put t know which external USB devices you use, but sometimes the machines cannot be allowed because the ports USB don t provide enough power.
In this case, you can disable the mode without power failure in the USB hub properties in Device Manager.

    Good luck

  • BSOD 0xC4 appears on Satellite M30x

    Hello

Since yesterday I have Blue Screen Of Death, a few minutes after the beginning of my Satellite M30x. The error code is 0xC4.

Sometimes IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I used the CD to reset the default settings, but now the image is the same: blue screens, until Windows has finished starting.
But if I use the F8 key to get the protected mode there is no problem. Please help me solve the problem!

On a Switzerland Toshiba site I found information (in German) that produced M30x tend to restart:

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

I think you should check if the BSOD issue could be resolved using new memory modules RAM.
I remember my old laptop had a similar problem. The OS crashed and nothing has worked. The question was about the faulty RAM module.
I first checked how the laptop would be using RAM that one alone. This helped to discover how faulty RAM module.
Then I replaced the RAM and re-tested

Since the notebook then run as it should.

  • Satellite M30X: Screen doesn't work after sleep mode

I own Satellite M30X (model) after I left the laptop on while awhile, the computer went on standby to fashion. When I turned it on, the screen does not work, everything else is ok. I use the external monitor to the laptop. Everything seems to be in the order outside the screen. I did a system recovery and still the same problem. I don't know if it's a hardware or software problem.

I know the screen works, because you can see roughly. It seems to me that the screen is always on standby.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

    Hi Rudinho

If you visit the download page for manufacturers of graphics cards, you can find instructions, for mobile computing, drivers are provided by the manufacturers of portable. Unfortunately the graphics drivers cannot be updated so often than on desktop computers.

The reason for this is simply. With the new graphic card driver will be forced to run on the limit and the result is high temperature. High temperature can be responsible for suddenly shut down or even damage the hardware. Because of this laptop manufacturers should treat with great care. Can you imagine what will happen if Toshiba offers the driver and the result is damage of graphics card?

Satellite M30x is old enough for laptop and I do not think that the driver will be updated. The same situation is for my old Satellite P20.

    Hello

    Need help!
My satellite M30X 127 does not illuminate. When I push the power button, it is DIRECTED in turn. But nothing comes on the screen. There is no sound and the fan does not start. I took it to a repair center and they told me the motherboard is fried and it will cost me 400 pounds to fix.
The guy there offered my 100 pounds for to buy me.
Please a little help. What should I do?

    Hello

Otherwise you will search in ebay for the second hand with the good motherboard unit.
Sometimes people sell books with the failure to display or other parts of damage, but the motherboard is ok.
You can try to use second hand motherboard in your laptop.

  • Satellite M30x - drive destination not valid

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite M30x. I get the following error:

    --------------------------------------------------------
    Error number: (11030)
    Message: Invalid destination drive

Problem: Can't get it back, it does not start up Windows XP, so I need to get it back. When I put the recovery DVDs, Reovery comes to ask...

'1... recover the entire hard disk.
    2... mode Recovery expert
    3... exit ".

I choose the number one, once I pressed 1, a similar screen comes up saying...

    "Attention!"
The contents of the hard drive should be removed

    1... continue
    2 Cancel... ".

Again, I press 1 to continue.

The screen turns off again and Toshiba screen flashes for less than a second and goes off again with the words

    "!!!!! ERROR!
Press a key to continue... "

Once I press any key, the screen remains blank with this message now on the LCD:

    "Date: Thu Nov 4 08:57:48 2005.
    Error number: (11030)
    Message: Invalid Destination drive

    ----------
    (PgUp] / [PgDn] [ESC] ")

Once I press ESC, this screen rises and this is where I can't go further:

    X:\ >
    X:\ >
    --------------------------------------------------------
It is where I am stuck and cannot go any further.

Earlier, I had a similar problem:
    -----------------------------------------------------
    Internal error 27051

An internal inconsistency was detected. If the problem persists, contact the center of TOSHIBA or contact Symantec technical support.

Error number: Message (11030): invalid destination drive
    ---------------------------------------------------------

M30X used to raise more than one occasion in itself. That's why I used a recovery DVD. "Internal error 27051" disappeared, but I'm stuck with the error 11030.

    Regrads,
    Bruce

    Hi Bruce,.

It seems to me that if your hard drive has failed. Your laptop starts properly since the recovery CD, and when you acknowledge the warning message from the routine of the recovery that the system should try to format your hard drive before copying them to the operating system; I think that the format routine cannot access your hard disk correctly.

The recovery CD using a version of Norton Ghost that he works in a reduced Windows 98 operating system. When format/restore fails it drops you into the Win98 system in DOS base that's why you get the X: invites on your screen.

  • How to redefine the keyboard of the Satellite M30X?

Can someone help me to redefine the keyboard of the Satellite M30X?

Unfortunately my mother tongue (i.e. Polish) widely uses the right Alt to produce some unique signs. There are many schools, but I prefer to use thumb to press. Unlike other laptops that I used this key on my current Toshiba is far right, making it impossible to strike by the thumb. There is an empty key right next to the space bar. In my setup, it is equivalent to--------, and I want to make another right Alt.

    Thanks in advance

    Witold

    Hello

As much as I know there is no possibility to redefine the keys on the keyboard. The only thing that allows you to redefine is the keyboard input language. This option, you can find in Control Panel under regional and language options.

    I need to change this keyboard---> COMPAL P/N PK13CW10180 - Darfon P/N 99.N5682.30E - MODEL NSK-T430E - K000016100 WK442K - ITALIAN LANGUAGE

The only difference I've seen looking at the photos is the dish that connects the keyboard to the motherboard.
My doubt is about the feature and if they are hardware compatible.

Can someone help me in this choice?

    Thanks a lot for all

    Michele

Satellite M30X is old enough laptop model, so I think that you should have no big problems to get the new keyboard. I had similar problem on my old Satellite M70 and I bought the new keyboard on eBay.

At this time keyboards were quite similar and a keyboard could be used on some models of laptops. eBay is the right place to find different hardware parts for old models of laptops and keyboards.
Unfortunately I can't help you with this keyboard control, so if you find the specification that says that it is compatible with M30X you can buy it.

Don't spend a lot of money for it. as I've written before on eBay you can find keyboards for reasonable price.

  • Update the driver for graphics card for Satellite M30x

I need to update the video card driver in my Satellite M30X (ATI mobility Radeon 9600/9700). Where can I find the latest version?

On the toshiba support page, there is only an older version (dic.2004). I already tried to install a feeding at ATI.com but failed (suddenly stops and says that my system does not support this driver). I really need this update...

    Please help me

    Hello

The driver from the ATI site will not help you. It is generally not possible to install the original graphic drivers from sites of s card on Toshiba laptops manufacturer.
The Toshiba own graphics drivers are a bit modified and not the same as the original ATI drivers.

However, the Web omegadrivers.net site provides drivers for ATI and NVidia chips and to my knowledge, it should be possible to install these drivers on your laptop.

  • How to connect a device to capture video for Satellite M30X 127

I'm going round in circles trying to find a video capture device that will work with a laptop computer and would be grateful for advice. For example, I am now looking to the ' Canopus ADVC-110', although still looking autour (but not Pinnacle, which seem to have a bad reputation for the elements of capture).

    Problems include:

    1. the main problem is - many video capture devices require a "line-in" for PC for audio transfer of good quality. This laptop is not a line in, only headphones and mike catches. In addition, I also tried a few RCA pins into the 3.5 mm headset jack, and they were too small. How to solve the problem of getting audio from the VCR to my PC?

    2. the ADVC-110 connects to the PC via Firewire (and S-video), but is a type of SIX pins. M30X is a FOUR pin type. There are adapters available?

    3. Some capture programs seem to require a huge capacity of RAM. A laptop will be adapted to do the job? (I just want to capture old VCR to PC vhs tapes, and then burn it to DVD with Nero 7 or similar).

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

You are right! You must use an external device for the transmission of signals to your laptop. I put t know where you have this info but I have good experiences with Pinnacle product. I used the USB data transfer.

"Canopus ADVC-110 is not known to me, but I put t see why this shouldn't work well." Use made software for video capture and there should not be any problem.

The only thing is that, after registration of video equipment together must be prepared to burn and the unit need a lot of power to do this well und fast. When you buy it and to use on the way I recommend to extend the RAM to 1 GB.

Compatible memory modules for your Satellite M30x are:
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)
