A Microsoft discontinuded the readers of news in outlook express?

I can't make them work.

OE as a News Reader works fine. MS has closed its servers of news last October. If you use another server of news like eternal September, AIOE, etc., you can still access many groups including Outlook Express, but the traffic is very light.

I can't have emails, including the 25,000. The Inbox is empty. How can I delete the Inbox without losing my emails?

When you click the Inbox, can't you see no message? It is not empty, just corrupt because of bloating. OE has a limit of 2 GB per file.

Follow the instructions I gave you, but rather than delete the Inbox.dbx file, rename it to Inboxold.dbx. Now when you open OE, you have an Inbox again and empty.

To retrieve your messages saved, you have a bak file in the trash, or you may need a tool.

  • Error number: 0x800CCC0D, the host 'POP3' could not be found. Please make sure you entered the server name correctly in Outlook Express 6.

Original title: "POP3" server could not be found...

I get the following error message every time I try to use Outlook Express 6 as my default email: 'the host 'POP3' could not be found.  Please check that you have entered the server name correctly.  "Account: 'POP3', server: 'POP3', Protocol: 'POP3', Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, Socket error: 11001, error number: 0x800CCC0D".  I have a Dell Optiplex GX110 desktop computer with a processor Intel Pentium III (996 MHz, 256 MB RAM).  I already know that I have to increase the amount of RAM, but I don't think this is part of my problem.    I am connected to a local network, Verizon (Internet, cable TV and phone package). I run Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1.2600) 2002 with service pack 3 version.  I check frequently that my system is configured to automatically receive all updates for Windows XP more updates from Microsoft.  QUESTION: Is there a version of Microsoft in September 2011 that had something to do with POP3 servers?  Obviously it did not automatically installed in my computer.  I even checked my system twice to make sure that Microsoft was on my list of safe sites.  Please help me.  I really want to use Outlook Express 6 as my default email.

    Thank you!

  • How to remove the Inbox of emails in Outlook Express after Windows Live?

I get the persistent messages to compact my emails.  I noticed that 2007 emails are be compacted.

I went from Outlook Express to Windows Live a few years ago and thought I had disconnected from Outlook Express.  Obviously not.  I think that each email in Windows Live, I got also went to the Outlook Express Inbox.  I was able to remove all the "sent", "draft", emails, but was denied access to the Outlook Express Inbox.  Therin find hundreds of emails.   I want to stay with Windows Live, but I sure I want to delete 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 email in my Outlook Inbox.  What should I do?

Thank you for helping.  I'm not too savvy computer.

I don't understand why you would be denied access to the Inbox, but that following and you will end up with an Inbox again and empty.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it.  A new Inbox will be created automatically when you open OE.

In tools | Accounts, either delete the account or the email account | Properties | The general tab, uncheck the box: "include this account...". ', to prevent new messages to download.

  • I can ONLY connect to the internet with IE7 and Outlook Express

I have Win XP SP3, home wired network, Netgear router, cable internet, Lenovo desktop.
I can run IE 7 and Outlook Express and connect to the internet very well with these.  However, I can not connect using FireFox.  Windows Update returns an error and does NOT connect to scan my computer and display the necessary updates.  I just installed tax program this year HR CD block and it is unable to connect to internet to download the updates.  I used IE7 to go to the web site of the tax program to download the update manually, but it doesn't connect either.  I also can't complete installation OF Adobe (Digital Editions) program because it must connect to the internet in order to make a registration.

I have disabled the Windows Firewall, do not have a configured proxy.  So, I can browse the internet with IE7 and get email with Outlook express.  I went on the site from Google Chrome to try to download it and install it that (using IE7 of course), but after I press the "Download" button, IE7 says that it cannot connect to perform the download.

I scanned this forum and not seen similar symptoms that would allow me to reach a solution.  Everyone knows about this issue and how to resolve?

P.S. I have two other laptops Win XP which CAN completely connect to internet with IE and Firefox via the same router and the modem cable.

I tried trojan remover and none of the things in the menu utils found any problems.

But it turns out that my problem was a hidden/partial copy of Symantec Client Firewall that I thought was deleted.  Over the months some programs had been updated and Symantec didn't know about them, so it was blocking their access: FROM Adobe, HR Block, IE8, Firefox, etc.  Given that I have not seen it listed in the start menu and it was not listed in Add/Remove Programs, I didn't have to try to remove it.  And it was not poping up to tell me of a new program attempts to access the Internet.

I used the Symantec tool to remove all THE stuff of Symantec and it cleared up my connection problems.  I then reinstalled Symantec Client Security (antivirus and firewall) and turned off the Windows Firewall.

  • Problem with the links in my emails outlook express

I have an OS XP service pack 2, with outlook express.  My mail is in outlook express, but my wife gets his mail through yahoo.  We both receipt of emails from sereral from a friend with links to the url included in the e-mail.  When she clicks on these emails in his yahoo account link comes right up.  However, as a week ago, all the links that are in the mails that I opened in outlook express, they do more nothing when I click on them - no error message nothing.  Anyone has an idea why links open if I opened an email in yahoo but not if I open an email in outlook express?  And what could be the fix for this?  I never had this problem until about a week ago. Thank you.

This is common and can happen at any time. Often, the last point mentioned here is the fix.

  • How to configure the outgoing mail SMTP for Outlook Express 2003 receive service internet ulitizing comcast email?

My ISP is Comcast.  I use Outlook Express 2003.  Comcast has to change mail outgoing SMTP from 465 to 587, when I could no longer send emails.  I can receive emails, but when I send a mail, Outlook Express says that the email has not been sent (but there are sent) and does not record the email in my sent folder.  I now get 2 copies of every email sent to me.  Help.

Not surprisingly, Comcast tech told you wrong.

  • How to get rid of the 0x800ccc6d error code in Outlook Express?

I tried to send photos on i pad 2. the e-mail showed he went thru but not able to send pictures. 0x800ccc6d with the server 552 error error code appeared. How can I get rid of him?

Check: File | Work offline and in: reviews | Layout: uncheck the preview pane. Remove or delete the message from the Outbox and normal operations must continue.

Check the properties of the pictures to determine their size. You may need to resize before sending it to the Ipad. Using the break apart messages option would not work because there is no way for the Ipad to put back them together.

  • I accidentally cut the power when in files outlook express compacting and lost a few files. How can I recover these files without a back-up?

    Usuing Widows XP

First thing to check is your trash, bak files that are backups of dbx files, that are made before the compaction.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 if there is no file bak then your only chance at recovery is DBXpress (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) which has an excerpt from disc feature that will analyze the entire hard drive for messages disk clusters and if they are still on the hard drive, it will recover them.
