A 'Official' Palm should intervene--> > damage control

Just an info to any officer of Palm listening...

I got my pre on Saturday morning (& really like!)

However, you might want to join & post to Pre Central.net...

http://forums.precentral.NET/Palm-pre-WebOS-devices/

They went from ~ 64 000 positions Friday at ~ 75 000 positions in a few days

(more than 10,000 NEW jobs in just 3 days!... This is 10 times the total message here)

Many positions are positive, but a lot of things negative (I'm sure that a lot of iPhone fanboys trying to stir the pot)

But in any event, it could be a good idea for an official of Palm to make a presence in the forums out there and provide a little damage control...

-jj

I know there are some palm officials who look at the forums and try to help some customers. However, with the largest number of new positions that we have received here, we've been busy. This, most incoming calls.

One of the great things is because it's the official forum of Palm are agents can identify themselves as officials of Palm, with precentral is not not an official forum, it opens some doors identifying yourself as an affiliate with Palm.

Helpful friendly people: we know all my internet accounts have been hacked. These people have all my data and still use it. They did happen to me! In my view, that it is a federal crime. How can I go about filing charges against these people I know, insane criminal?  I could really use some good advice.

    Thank you so much, Di.

    Hi Di,

You say "people known, criminal insane." Should I understand this comment that you personally know people who have hacked your account?

While, Yes, these people, whatever they may be, are known to exist, they are usually quite skilled to cover their tracks, well before that any law enforcement agency have time to grasp. They have a tendency to disappear just as quickly as they appear.

If you personally know who they are, you must report the incident to your local Police. If you don't know who they are, then the Police simply emits a number of crimes (in the United Kingdom, in any case) and, as of other unsolved crimes, will no doubt sweep the report under the rug.

Until there is an improvement in intelligence to computer hacking then the chances of success of the prosecution will be very thin.

All you can really do, as a form of damage control, is:

    1. If your PC has been compromised remotely, re - install Windows and change all of your passwords.

2 inform your Bank and other financial institutions that your PC has been compromised and hope they check the never future transaction that applies to your account.

    3. ensure that you don't fall for any online scams where, for example, the appellant informs you that they are from Microsoft or Windows and your PC has reported problems. Cold Microsoft not call customers. They call it only if you have a prepaid support contract with them. Windows is also a brand name, not a company so if someone called and say they are from Windows immediately be suspicious.

    4. the best advice is to be vigilant.

It is not part of the mission of forums to give specific legal advice. We are after all not lawyers. To proceed with a court action that you will really need to consult a lawyer.

  • Backup of files of Windows 7 should allow more control compared to incremental backups

When you back up individual files of the user, Windows 7 creates automatically new games "full" backup periodically. This translates into the backup location filling that requires manual intervention to free up space. Users should have the ability to specify how many times a new "full" backup will be created, and what to do if not enough free space is available (e.g. - delete the oldest backup 'full' if sufficient space is not available).

In addition, users must be able to specify a backup 'complete' should only be created once, and all subsequent backups should be only incremental or differential backups.
The way this program works as it is today, it is useless because the backup destination will always fill to capacity and the user must manually free space. It should be automatic so that users never touch it unless they need restore a file.

    Hi nagyja,

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!

If you want to back up individual files, folders or a drive, you can right click on the file/folder/drive and then go to properties and then click Tools.
Under the backup pane click back up now and in this way, you can set up a folder for an individual file/folder or drive.

Your second question, as you have said that your computer does back upwards once. If you have backups are created automatically, you can have scheduled automatic backups.

Use the following steps to disable scheduled backups:
    1. to begin, open the backup Center by typing "Backup" in the start menu search box and then click on the application "backup and restore".
    2. now click on "Set up backup" to start the Backup Wizard
    3. you are now prompted to select a destination to backup your files, that can be a mapped drive or a network location. Once this is done, click on next
    4. this window invites you to choose a type of backup, either typical or custom. If you have specific needs backup, you will need to follow the custom procedure. Otherwise, click the option "let windows choose", then "next".
    5. in this window, you have the option to 'Calendar', click change schedule and set to 'never '.

  • LabVIEW FPGA. Where should I put the custom controls - or type defs in a project

    Hello

Maybe this is a stupid question - but I'm a little confused on where within a project I should put the controls (or type defs) used in FPGA screws.  If you put in the bit "module FPGA" project, so they come up as "dependencies" - as if they are not in the project within the project when you read/write values in the target FPGA.  Also, it seems that if you copy the project to a different location folder then the FPGA vi can be distributed in a way that she needs to be recompiled - even if you don't change anything - that's not cool if it takes an hour or two to compile.

I had the controls in the external project for awhile - but seems not ideal from the point of view modular programming, and also, it seems that it may also cause the recompilation unnessary - although perhaps less often that put them in the FPGA subproject.

    Any thoughts?

I've seen the same behavior and it is a fact that the code must be recompiled if you move a project even if the FPGA code is unchanged. From my point of view, it's a real BUG. This is independent of any file source or target FPGA.

The other point of your question is not clear relly. Of course, you will get the dependencies if you place the necessary files outside the structure of the target project. But I see no problem to reference them twice because it won't double the source itself. So I suggest to refer to these files several times in the project structure. Actually I'm doing this because I manage a project file LV with different targets CRIO where the complete code for the target FPGA is double referenced under each target.

  • What should * and * shouldn't go into Source code control?

I've seen posts with snippets of what should not go into source code control, but I've not seen a comprehensive list of what should and should not go into source control. Anyone know? Here's what I know so far - do not put the following files in the source control: .pss, .cpd, .ldb and .hhp.

Now I wonder about the XPJ file. If two or more people work on a project, this file should be source controlled?

Is there a specific list of files that need to be in control of source code in order to maintain the integrity of the project?

The answer is simple here is that machine specific files may not be archived. It is. PSS and. DPC files. The. HHP and. XPJ files are not specific machine, they are specific project and therefore should be archived. The confusion surrounding the HHP file can go down to find out if output CHM is produced. If you're not, we can say safely that this file may not be source controlled. But it costs nothing to register under source control so why make life more difficult by excluding it.

  • Pre-load Palm TX - what will happen when I Hotsync for the first time?

I bought a 'medical' Palm TX Ebay delivered pre-loaded with lots of software.  I want to save the unit since I have no way to recover it in case of hardware/software/human error.

I downloaded & installed Hotsync 6.2 but I'm afraid to try the Hotsync because the documents of the seller warned do NOT hang on to my computer because it damage my programs.  Why would I NOT want to do?  What happens during the "1st" with a PC & Palm Hotsync.  The PC formats the Palm?  Can I control who and keep him to crush and run the Palm over the PC profile on 1st sync?  I know that I can come back it up after the PC & Palm are synchronized, I'm just afraid it will clear things if I do not pay attention.

Bottom Line: I want to protect the investment, but information from the seller have me worried that I would lose it all by using the native Hotsync tool.  Should I be afraid?

Be afraid... Be very afraid!   I hope that the bottom does not apply to your purchase, but we have heard this story before.

There are a lot of scams on eBay with preload Palm devices.  Many of them use pirated software.  No respectable seller of Palm devices with any conscience at all wouldn't you to "not HotSync. This should send red flags floating and alarms goes off!  I have several medical programs on my TX, and they are not cheap by any means.

It is possible that the programs will be 'home' to the author of the programs and will try to check the recording.  If the software is pirated, the registration process may come to an abrupt stop, and the program will not work!

Did you get a Palm to purchase installation disc?  Do you have codes for registration for medical programs?  I bet that you do not have...

You have a choice to make.  Keep the appliance and do not use it for all 'normal' functions that involve HotSync or return the unit as soon as POSSIBLE for a full refund.  Palm TX can be found on amazon.com and there are a lot of available medical software - the two freeware and for purchase.  Skyscape.com is one of the best suppliers autour and very probably has anything that your specialty needs.

  • [URGENT!] I can't access my iPhone 5 because of water damage!

Hello, guys. HM, the story of how this happened is quite simple, I have obviously dropped my phone in the filled bathtub (whose water happened to contain bathbombs, foam, and other products). I pulled it out immediately and it worked perfectly fine, but the water display under which had left some unpleasant spots white and gray. I left my phone in the day rice overnight. I woke up for not much of a change, only a few pixels were dry air inside the huge waste of water. so, I decided several things, like rebooting, drying with AC, with a hair dryer, with a small pump I use to clean my DSLR lenses and nothing has worked, BUT my frozen screen. I can't type in any way to get a reaction and some scratches appear but fade quickly. I read that you have to reboot, so I did it, but now I can't access it because it asks for my password and I can't type. I really want to at least return it upward but iTunes or other software will not recognize it because it is locked. I don't really want to take it to the service. Any advice on how I can unlock unlock/dry/she? Ah, the buttons of my home and lock work perfectly well. Thank you!

You can not.  Your screen is obviously of water damaged and without screen tactile operation you really can't do anything with it until you have repaired or replaced.  No trouble reset or magic software is going to fix the damaged material.

You can't back up in iTunes now, there is no way to do it without functional touch screen.  If you had backups iCloud activated before that, then you should have a backup in place you will be able to restore from.  Yet once again, if you had not already activated your backup, there no way to do it now.

A backup is only useful if its done before a disaster occurs.  Once your material is damaged, your ability to implement damage control are limited or non-existent.

Take it to Apple for a free assessment of the damage and they can explain your options.  Most likely, an output device warranty replacement will be required.  And without a backup already in place, Yes, you go to floating content.

  • Palm Pre won't Charge / turn on

Heres is my problem. My palm pre battery when it is plugged in to recharge (with charger official palm pre, power supply) needed to DUMP when it's plugged in. I thought it could have been just a connection sometimes losing since sometimes charged and discharged. Shortly after this discharge started, I got it for free because I would have rather had a battery in any life. At the end of the day, my battery is completely dead and phone turns off. Not much, right? I'll come right home and put it on charge. Well, not so simple. When my phone support (with the charger official pre, tried in the sector, have tried in the laptop, have used 3rd party chargers) all I get is the battery charging icon. This is the red bar at the bottom with the lightning symbol on. I've tried everything. I cleaned up the phones to the compressed air connection, I took out battery for all-day to try, but nothing. My pre remains on this all day and dosent turn, once unplugged it shuts down. Could someone help me please? I can't take it on 02 since brought off the coast of a friend who have never experienced this problem, and it dosent have more paperwork to 02. is my phone broken? are there solutions? Thanks for help in advance. Craig

I don't know if I can be of any assistance on this.  I think you should try webOS Doctor.  It is a program that reinstalls the webOS on your phone.  It could be that webOS has corrupted itself and must be reinstalled.  It's the only thing I can think of now.  If a webOS Doctor does not so I think that your problem is more serious than just a malfunction or software battery problem.

Get the webOS Doctor here: http://ws.hpwebos.com/webosdoctor/sorry.htm

  • OCP: Question about the critical files on control and collision

    Hello

I am currently a student at OCP certification exam 1z0-053.

To do this, I bought the all-in-one fixed Oracle Press (http://www.mcgrawhill.ca/professional/products/9780071629188/)

During his studies, I would like to test, to prove things and simulate the operation to get more familiar as possible with important concepts.

The study guide covers the fact that when a critical file is damaged or lost, the proceedings will end. The critical files listed are: all copies of the controlfile, a data file that belongs to the SYSTEM table, a data file which is part of the current tablespace undo.

    As said here's the quote:

Some of the files are important. Damage to a critical file means that the database instance will end if it is open and cannot be reopened until the damage is repaired.

    [...]

Practically the moment where that the damage occurs, the instance will end. As always, first reaction of the DBA to an instance crashed should be to attempt a start. It will fail in NOMOUNT mode, with an error message appropriate. The alert log will show what controlfile copy is missing and also - in the section list of parameters to initialize default - controlfile how many copies there are actually is and where they are.

A self-test at the end of the chapter, it is:

    1. loss of these files will cause a database open failed? (Choose all good answers.)

    A. a controlfile multiplex

    B. A multiplexed log file online

    C. a multiplexed log file archive

    D. an undo tablespace datafile asset

    E. a tablespace temporary assets tempfile

    F. Since the SYSAUX tablespace data file

    G. a file of data space of SYSTEM tables

    H. a data file containing the user's critical data

    [...]

    Answer:

    1. A, D and G. damage to any copy controlfile put an end to the proceedings, as damage to critical tablespaces: SYSTEM and break current tablespace.

So, under the 11.2.0.3 when I delete or corrupt a control file copy, the instance is not crashing and the database continue to work. Alerts log is only regularly notifynig controlfile missing:

    Fri Aug 30 10:16:02 2013

    Errors in the /u01/app/oracle/diag/rdbms/ocp1/ocp1/trace/ocp1_m000_26767.trc file:

ORA-00210: could not open the specified control file

    ORA-00202: control file: ' / u01/app/oracle/oradata/ocp1/control03.ctl'

ORA-27041: could not open the file

Linux-x86_64 error: 2: no such file or directory

    Additional information: 3

    I'm not really knowledge.

I have to stick to what is said in the book or the experienced facts?

    Thank you

    Bruno

The information contained in the Guide of the exam are not correct as written.  The Oracle instance would end on the loss of a single control file.  Oracle documentation on the management of the control files is here:

    Management of control files

It says: "If a control file is damaged due to a disk failure, the associated instance should be stopped. Once the drive is repaired, damaged control file can be restored using the intact copy of the control of the other disk file and the instance can be restarted. »

"Stop" means that the instance has become unstable.  Unstable case act differently depending on the situation this way, the book is not (cannot) document the specific behavior that may occur.  While the loss of a control file means that the DBA should be abandoned to the instance, it is a very different thing from the instance to the destination of its own.

The ultimate source is always the Oracle documentation. I checked the page of errata for this book to McGraw-Hill.  I only see an extra.  Submit this to them and get your name on the page as a contributor.

  • Control Matsusada DC power supply with IVI

I need to be able to control 3 Matsusada REK series power supplies DC using Labview. I don't have the equipment yet, so I'm using a simulation to test my code. • Update controls with events

I'm getting to do a settings editor window that has several groups of settings that can be edited and saved.  The settings are loaded and saved on a Bay of clusters.  The window uses a shift register to store all changes and then you can save at the same time when you are ready.  The problem I see is that if I change a value and leave the cursor in the control, and then a new group he will not read this new value.  I understand that you should put the control that you want to play in the same event, but the problem is I want to be able to read this control with several events and it makes sense to have the control outside the structure of the event.  I have attached a sample vi of what I am trying to accomplish.  I'm relatively new to labview and learning I'm leaving, so any help would be appreciated. • Save and read control values

I have a program which is highly intensive GUI.

It has almost 100 boxes of orders/combo of chain on the front panel.

Once the user fills all the fields, I need to save all the values to a file.

I don't care if the user can open/view/play the file, I just need LabVIEW to read.

Later, it the user will need to load this file and all controls have to be filled from the file.

From what I have seen when looking for boards of Directors.
I heard a lot of suggestions like this that say I should

all controls to group together, and then use the XML functions to read/write.

I have attached a version very very simplified from what looks like the Panel front of the program.

Do you agree with the above method? Or do you have another way you prefer?

I would always try to automate it. Rather than treating each control manually, you can do something in this direction or change my previous example:

The big advantage is that you do not have to write manually to the code for each single control and when you add controls he just continues to work. If the controls are not all channels, you can use the OpenG screws to convert a string of variant human readable.

  • change the push button for control or indicator at run time

    Hello

I have a lamp that can turn into power according to the value of a Boolean variable.

There are two ways in which I can control the lamp.

    (1) manual mode in which the button must be used as control to change the value of the Boolean variable.

2 auto mode) in which the value of the variable is changed programmatically. Push button must return to an indicator to indicate the value of the Boolean variable.

I should be able to swith bw manual and automatic mode for the duration and the push button should switch to control and indicator respectively.

For those who might wonder why it's necessary: there is a sign which must be controlled in manual/auto mode. in manual mode, operator will manually use the buttons as controls for updating the control variables, in auto mode, my control algorithm updates the variables, and the Organizer must be able to see which button is pressed and when. If the button should be the control of update of variables in manual mode and must be the indicator of the evolution of the variables in auto mode.

    How is that possible?

A basic VI with three objects are attached, and the Boolean control variable is global.

    Did.
