A PC would support an external drive more than it does internally?

There is almost a year with the help of this forum, I learned the hard way that my computer will not support a larger than 1 TB of internal hard drive.

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware/installing-a-3TB-secondary-hard-drive-on-a-Presario-CQ...

System: Presario CQ5320F

OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Motherboard: M2N68-(Narra6)

BIOS: American Megatrends 5.15, 11/06/2009

Now, with this 1 TB drive fails on me (trying to see if I can get it replaced), another question comes to mind.  Does anyone know if the system could support an EXTERNAL drive more that what it is limited to a hard drive internal?  I speculate that because an external drive no doubt connects via USB (I guess I should also understand if they are USB 3.0 ports) and the size restrictions of becoming more a software problem, not necessarily a problem of card motherboard/bios as with the drive internal.

In other words, if I can't get my 1 TB drive, replaced by the seller for failing a year and I have to buy mine, I wonder if I could buy a 2 TB external drive or 3 for this machine instead.

I know what you think... If I'm ready to drop a hundred or two on a new hard drive, why not to stretch a bit more and get a newer PC cheap but skilled to cease to live under these limitations terrible hard drive?  You would be good my friend, and I applaud the suggestion.  But let me remind you how the 'wives' work.  When you try to explain to them why the smartest thing is to spend $400 on a new computer, they recite a well-rounded list of things they think you should rather spend that money on.  Alison... Wives.

Hello

There are now 4 TB drive external HARD on the market and they all work.

Kind regards.

  • I would use the external drive to download my photos, documents, etc. but do not know how to proceed.

I just got my old crash (desk top) computer. I knew it would, so I transferred all my information on an external hard drive. I bought a dell 2020 with windows 8, only bought a few days ago. I would use the external drive to download my photos, documents, etc. but do not know how to proceed.  My old computer won't start at all, that's why I got the external drive. Could someone please help me with this task. Thank you.

    Original title: confused

You can simply plug it in, connect the external hard drive, make sure it is turned on.

Then copy and paste on your files.

In Windows 8, start File Explorer

Highlight all the files and folders

Click on copy on the Ribbon (Home tab)

Then then paste into their respective folders

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: %UserProfile%

    Press enter

  • New Mac, same disk external DRIVE for the library; does not see the files

I reconnected my iTunes library from a disk external DRIVE to my new computer, but iTunes does not recognize my files of the ALAC instead, he goes to the cloud and plays music from Apple things. How can I listen to my files? All the files are there, the library is intact; I changed the path in iTunes. Without result. He always plays with the cloud.

You do not change the path in iTunes.  Who does as it says which is tell iTunes where media files [new] store. You change the path you launch iTunes by holding down the option/alt key, while the application starts and then choose when prompted the iTunes Library.itl file in the iTunes folder you included if all goes well on the hard disk external.  If everything you have on the outside are media files, then you better head for your old computer fast and get the rest of the library there.  It's the rest of these files in the iTunes folder that make up the other half of the 'library' iTunes needs.

  • Why my XP does not recognize a Toshiba 500 GB USB external drive... it does not appear in disk management or in computer

Bought a new Toshiba 500 GB drive external usb.  My XP desktop won't recognize/find this disc.  It does not appear when you view the disk management or work station.  I also have it on my new laptop (Vista) and it has been found immediately.  My research online only tells me to find the external drive in disk management and assign a drive letter to... but I don't think to assign a letter! Toshiba says that the drive is compatible with XP. I have another smaller disk capacity that work perfectly on the XP machine.  Please tell us what should I do to have my Office XP recognize the

Three things that you have not yet mentioned are

    1. don't change you the registry suggested by the KB Article (see: a computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB flash drive, an iPod from Apple or an external hard drive)?  I suggest do it manually instead of using the FixIt.

2 represents the drive recognized in the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK)

3 is the drive recognized in your BIOS (press the corresponding key on startup).

Reformat to FAT32 was probably not necessary (and you'll probably want to re - format to NTFS before use).  XP has no problem with large (> 500 GB) external USB drives.

  • Import of files from an external drive their copy on my internal drive?

    Hello

I am a PSE newbie and this is my first post here.  I have a question about importing files.  I store all of my photos on an external drive.  Importation of files copy in the Adobe folder?  If so, I can now work on an image even if the external drive is disconnected?

Will I receive an email notification when someone answers my question?

    Thank you.

If Windows sees your external drive as "removable", when you call the PES file > get Photos and videos > files and folders, default PSE copy photos in the Pictures\Adobe folder (unless you disable the option to copy the photos).

Usually, only flash drives (thumb readers ' "), CD/DVD, cameras and flash cards are processed by Windows as"removable ".  But sometimes Windows confused and treats as external hard drives removable.  You can check how Windows is treat your disk by Windows Explorer open, accessing the computer and looking at the Type column for the reader.

  • More than two JOINT INTERNAL

Below, I insert a code example that I would like to know if the syntax is correct for the third JOIN. I know he's working for two JOINS. My question is that if you have more than two, you just keep adding to the line of the third JOIN.

    < cfquery name = "Query1" datasource "database" >
    SELECT column1, Column2, Column3, t1. XXID, t2. YYID, t3. ZZ1ID
OF (MainTable mt Table1 INNER JOIN t1 ON TM. XXID = t1. XXID)
INNER JOIN Tabel2 t2 ON mt. YYID = t2. YYID
INNER JOIN Tabel3 t3 ON mt. ZZID = t3. ZZID
    < / cfquery >

    Also for the next example

    < cfquery name = "Query1" datasource "database" >
    SELECT column1, Column2, Column3, t1. XXID, t1. YYID, t1. ZZ1ID
OF (MainTable mt Table1 INNER JOIN t1 ON TM. XXID = t1. XXID)
INNER JOIN Tabel1 t1 ON mt. YYID = t1. XXID
INNER JOIN Tabel1 t1 ON mt. ZZID = t1. XXID
    < / cfquery >

    Thank you

The best way to proceed is to set up three tables:
    (1) a jobs picture that has just job related information.
    (2) an Employee table, which has just information about employees.
    (3) and a relationship table that links employees to employment. This is part of a "standard" design and you will save a lot of grief later.

  • cannot add the new hard drive more than 2 TB on vsphere upgrade 5

can someone give me a clue? I can't add new greater than 2 TB drive to my vm on my upgraded vsphere 5.0. My data store is 6 TB and already read by vsphere... I create new virtual machine and add the new drive, but it limits again just 2 TB when I change 4 TB, the error message will appear. I recently added my datastore LUN with VMFS5 version. is there a any mistake I made? Please help me this problem is so frustrating me... i need to create new disk 6 TB to my new file server

    Hello.

You will need to use a RDM in physical Compatibility Mode to achieve. As weinstein5 said, a VMDK cannot be greater than 2-to-512bytes. You can use the OS to spread over several 2 TB-512bytes VMDK, if that's what you really want.

    Good luck!

  • Tecra S5: No. 1920 x 1200 and 1680 x 1050 support on external monitors?

    Hello

    I have a Tecra S5 with nVidia Quadro NVS 130 M (512 MB)
Officially, according to Toshiba, the external monitor plug is:
    + Max resolution: 2 048 x 1 536 +.
    + maximum refresh rate: 100 Hz +.
    + resolution not interlaced with a maximum refresh rate: 1920 x 1 200 +.

I try to work with 2 different external monitors without success.

First of all, I had a Samsung 245 b, 24 "(1920 x 1200). I have install the driver of Samsung, but the resolution was not supported. I also tried the forceWare laptop2go.com, but again no luck.
So, I change my monitor and bought a Samsung 2243NW 22 ", 1680 x 1050. This resolution is the same with the native resolution of Tecra. I thought that this resolution could be supported. But still no luck. I could change the 1400 x 1050 or 1600 x 1200 resolution, but not the 1680 x 1050.

There we really pity that Toshiba support 1920 x 1200 and 1680 x 1050 resolutions. Most of our days the monitors use these.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your time

    Hello

You first need to check if your graphics card would support such a resolution on external monitor.
The user must provide all the details.
If the card doesn t supports you the preferred resolution and then there is nothing to see.

If the GPU can handle such external resolution then you should check if the graphics driver would also support such a resolution. The fact is that even if the graphics card, would support the external resolution, that you will not be able to choose if the graphics driver supports doesn t.

As you can see that several factors are important

  • How to move pictures and the catalogue of a new external drive on a Mac?

I found this question several times and do not understand the answers.  I have all my photos and the catalog LR on an external HD.  I need to move to an external drive more.  I tried with the Finder, but when I try to open the catalog on the new disk the pictures do not show in LR even if they are on the disc.  In a few simple steps how to do this correctly?

Assuming that the new disk is writable,

    Open the catalog.

    Go to the folders Panel.

Do a "find missing" on the top-level folders so that LR will know where the files have been moved to.

  • Pavilion a6120n: startup of the a6120n hard disk upgrade / replacement of more than 2 TB (4 TB) not recognized

    Hi all

My primary HARD drive recently failed.  So, I went out and picked up a new internal drive from HGST 4TB to replace the dead drive.

I thought I'd use the opportunity to make a new new clean install of Windows 10.  So I created, with the support of Microsoft tool, an installation of Windows 10 DVD.

Unfortunately, when I start the PC with the new Windows 10 installation disk (64-bit), it only allows me to create a new partition to a maximum size of 1768 Go.

Now I remember reading on a 4 gb limitation RAM BIOS/motherboard has, but I couldn't find any limitation on the size of the hard drive.

Although I found a few articles indicating that UEFI & GPT would be required to make it work for any HARD drive more than 2 TB, I have absolutely no idea how to proceed, or if this motherboard has a limitation.

Any help you could provide would be much appreciated, because I have been racking my brain for the last month trying to solve this problem.

What you do not have to disclose, is that the original BIOS was Vista.  Than stated, you would not have a level of BIOS available for download that would have compatibility (UEFI BIOS) level 8 and options you need.

Then W7 starting about 40 minutes.
I have no idea what may be wrong.

Maybe the HARD disk works bad 40 min to start system is certainly too long.
Try to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system.

You know how to replace the HARD drive?
If this is not the case, check this box:

You will need a common HARD SATA 2.5 disk. Its regardless of what rates would support the HARD drive: the 5200 rpm or 7200 RPM is good.

  • access more than 2 TB as a volume using dell hardware.

I know the maximum limits of store data and vmdk, 2 TB or more.

Currently, we are running an nfs server to linux we would like to have access more than 2 TB on a single volume.

It currently runs on a dell r710 and we want to upgrade the storage available to this topic with a disc tray.

Our dataset for this system work should between 10 to and 20 TB, he performs work in the continuous batch that take a few months to complete

What disc tray can us get that don't divide us in a ton of 2 TB data warehouses?

If we use directo io or a willingness to hba cards that allow the virtual machine see more than 2 TB of space?

Linux LVM is just like Windows dynamic disks.

The big problem is that a single volume should get corrupted, you just lost all of the 24 GB...

The backup problem must also be considered.  Most of the older backup solutions as TSM, HP Data Protector, etc. will flow several threads backup on several volumes, but a single backup thread can run on a single volume...

Thus, 4-6 to volumes would be at least 4 x the throughput of backup then one volume 24 to...
