A possible solution to the problem of address bar: disable the Safari Suggestions

For everyone having problems with the address bar: turn off the Suggestions of Safari in preferences-> search and restart Safari has solved it for me. Maybe there is a problem with the servers providing the information for the Suggestions of Safari right now or something like that.

Thanks – it worked for me also.

All of a sudden, I can't do anything type in the address/search bar in Safari. I tried everything I can think of to fix it. I searched the internet and support forums of apple, did a restore from a previous backup and finally reinstalled OS x. Nothing works. • Address bar remember websites as I type... Or it will open if I click on the arrow. (Firefox 4)

It has been the case that, as soon as I typed a letter on the address bar, it would automatically suggest me every Web site I had visited on the past that matched what I was typing. Alas, no more. What's worse, the address bar refuses to be open also.

I went to tools, Options, privacy, and the settings are as they should; "Firefox will remember the story. "The address bar will suggest stories and bookmarks. It is said at least it will be, but it doesn't.

This same problem myself harassed since Firefox 3.6. I was hoping that he went once I upgraded to 4, but this was not the case. Firefox is the only one that has this issue; Internet Explorer will remember everything and an address bar will be open too.

I would be very, very grateful all light, that you can do about it. Thanks in advance.

Make sure that the address bar is not set to "Nothing":

    • Tools > Options > privacy > address bar: when you use the location bar, suggest: history, bookmarks and bookmarks

This can also be caused by a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • predictive typing / story does not come to the top in the address bar

I was used to typing a few letters in the address bar and history and suggestions would appear. Now I have to enter each web address I want to go to-I don't know why the predictive and suggestions suddenly stopped working - I have not modified the settings. I checked in preferences/privacy and it is set to remember the story and think history and bookmarks. I saw a similar question here who suggested watching the add-on of the AVG, but I don't have that. Predictive typing was very helpful - I wish that it had not gone! Can you please help?

  • Safari now closes when you click on the address bar

Hey all, recently I went to a Web site with a pop - up I accidentally clicked while trying to scroll down around him. After clicking on the pop-up a new tab tried opening that I immediately closed, as well as the 1st original tab open. I have then double click the home button on the iPhone and crept up to close the application currently open safari. But then when I restarted safari, whenever I click on the URL address bar to type something, it immediately closes on my safari. Now, I'm not completely clueless when it comes to try to empty the pop ups, I have delt with the "FBI warning all ' on my and several other phones... so I tried the history of obvious and this compensation that not, but still my safari stops if I touch the address at the top of the page bar.

    So far I have tried:

    1. Double-click on the House, by sweeping up app close
    2. "Restart iPhone' holding the home button and top 10 seconds
    3. ' 'Parameters '; Safari. " 'Clear the history data and the Web site '.
    4. DIssbling JavaScript in 'advanced configuration' for safari
    5. Entered into airplane mode / click on the address bar - still farm safari down
    6. Loading of several empty tabs and clicking on their URL

And just to be more specific, if I copy and paste a link I am able to visit a Web site... but again if I go to a website and immediately click on the address bar it will close and restart safari.

OR if I load up Safari in 'Private' I'm finally able to click on the address bar and type websites like Google.com and it works perfectly fine, but if I get out of private and try to type in Google.com, it closes...

    Any ideas?

Go to settings - Safari - clear the history and data from the Web site.

If that doesn't work, reset your device. This will not erase your data stored on the phone.

    • Press and hold the sleep/wake button
    • Press and hold the Home button
    • Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.

Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings
