A50: Change shared graphics memory

Hello
I upgraded the RAM from my Satellite A50 from 256 to 512 MB. How do I change the memory shared graphics card - in fact 16 MB - for more information, for example 64 MB or where can I read about it - I found nothing in the manual and online manual?
Thank you Harry

    Hello

Sorry to say, but you can't do that.  Dedicated memory is determined by the physical amount of chips of memory on the graphics card.

  • problems with dedicated and shared graphics memory

So basically I want to run a game that I have all the specs (above actually) that I need to play outside of memory dedicated to the graphics card. But what confuses the life out of me, is that I have about double the necessary memory required in system memory shared which as I understand, it is used on an as-needed-basis. However, clearly this is not the case, as soon as I try and run it crashes immediately.

Okay, so I have the graphics card with the following specifications:

chip type: mobile intel (R) 4 series express chipsets
channel of the card: mobile Intel GMA 4500 M
    total memory: 797 MB
    memory: 64 MB dedicated
    shared system memory: 733 mb

In addition to what BossDweebe wrote, I would like to comment on your comment

"I more than double the necessary memory required in system memory shared which as I understand, it is used on an as-needed-basis." However, clearly This is not the case, as soon as I try and run it crashes immediately. »

Shared memory (part of your system RAM) is provided by Windows on a dynamic basis, it is added if required and with a limited amount by the RAM of the system itself needs to run applications (= your shared graphics memory size can be based on available RAM total). It's a help for some graphical features, but not necessarily a guarantee to run games that explicitly requires a certain base of dedicated RAM video. As the dedicated RAM (own GPU memory) is much faster than the share of the contributions of RAM, two cases can appear:

    (1) the game does not start. Many games check the video hardware before starting, and if they are 64 MB VRAM and require more, often it is game over. The dynamically allocated shared memory cannot be controlled and is of no interest here.

    (2) other games may be more forgiving. But you're going to be faced with a vicious circle: you're hoping using shared memory, is a clear indicator of a graphic solution already slow and Asthenique (i.e. an integrated graphics card). Unfortunately, the slow system RAM does not speed up your graphics card, and taking a part of the RAM for the graphics features: with a slower running your game and can still finish in the dysfunctions.

  • Qosmio F750 - how to change the graphics memory dedicated to 2 GB...

In order to get my Qosmio F750 ready to run some games, I've updated all the drivers on via the toshiba Web site and the NVIDIA site also the software downloading. This includes upgrading the BIOS to version 2.00.

According to the [laptop specifications given on the Toshiba site | http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/qosmio/f750/pqf75a-02y00q/specifications].

I should have the following allocation of memory for the graphics:
"4095 MB Total: 2048 MB of memory dedicated + 2047 MB shared memory.

When I check the window Information on the performance and tools, I'm getting shows the following information:

    Graphics
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Display type card Intel(r) HD Graphics 3000
Total available graphics memory: 1 696 MB
    Dedicated graphics memory: 64 MB
    Dedicated system memory: 0 MB
    Shared system memory: 1632 MB
    Display adapter driver version: 9.18.13.1422
    The primary monitor resolution: 1366 x 768
    DirectX version: DirectX 10

Of course, when I look at the specifications of the laptop, I realize that the current graphic memory allocation matches the economy power Mode i.e. allocation of graphics when running on battery

Normally, it would be nice, however, I don't see any change in the displayed info even when I'm running on current alternative.
I checked all my power settings, but even when everything is set to "performance mode", the information displayed is the same.
I try to look in the system bios to change manually the graphical distribution but none this option doesn't exist. Rather all options are defined in performance mode...

So my final question is, * how can I change memory allocation performance mode graph as it is stated in the specifications of the system? *
Is this something that happens automatically without changing the displayed Info?
Is there a driver that I forgot to update? An update of the driver caused cela?
    A BIOS update caused this?

On a side note, the audit of the DirectX Diagnostic tool, I have the version of directx is displayed as version 11. So I thought that the problem was with the displayed information. But even on the Diagnostic tool gives me the same information.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

    Thank you
    Jean-Pierre

    Hello

This is controlled automatically by the graphics driver.
If the application that is running would require more RAM (IE game), the graphics card would control this value and I would add some of the memory to the memory of the graphics card.

  • Satellite L30-105: how to change shared video memory on Vista...

But the solution only works with windows xp, anyone know a driver version with which the 'frame buffer' tab is present?
The latest version of the driver is installed on my Satellite L30-105(catalyst 7.6), 128 MB are shared, but 32 will be enough for me.

    Hello

I think the problem is that Vista graphic driver does not support this option.
The option described in the in the other thread was available in the argument XPOS.

But why would you change? On my L30 128 MB shared memory are activated, but the laptop uses only 64 MB if I put t run all applications performance.
The pilot controls the amount of shared memory automatically.

You can se under control panel-> display-> advanced settings
In the map tab, you can see total graphic memory available (in my case 128 MB) and system memory shared (64 MB)

By the way; I don't think that 32 MB graphics memory may be sufficient if you're running Vista

  • Increasing shared graphics memory in 600-1050

Graphics memory on my 600-1050 is shared - out of the box, it's using 256 MB of the 4 GB of RAM.

Can I expand this to 512 MB or 1 GB? If so, how? I saw no option in the NVidia Control Panel or in the BIOS.

    Thanks in advance.

    Paul

If they are not all BIOS settings can change the memory settings for video graphic card on Board then I doubt you could increase it to more than what you have which is only 256 MB... unless the operating system it increases dynamically as needed.

But back to the main issue: shared graphics card memory is controlled by the graphics driver and everything works automatically and this means that the shared memory can be assigned manually :(

  • Satellite L30-134: how to change shared video memory?

    Hello

I have a laptop L30-134 with 512 MB of ram and 64 MB of video memory shared.

I can't change the virtual memory from 64 MB to 128 MB.
I reed some messages in this forum but I have no option in the Panel as "FrameBuffer" and the bios hase no option for the video display adapter, I tried to install the latest ati driver but ich time I get an error is not configuration / compatibil card whit say out.

How I change my card adapter video shared memory size?

    Thank you.
PS: sory for my bad English... :)

    Hello

Using the latest display driver (you can download it at toshiba), then you will have the option of frame buffer memory. The initially installed driver doesn't have this option. You will be able to use the memory of 128 MB for vga. If you put your L30 512 MB, you can use 256 MB of video memory. But I found no differences in the games between 128 MB and 256 MB.

  • Equium A110-276 - why shared graphics memory is not set to max 128 MB?

I have a satellite A110-276 and the maximum graphics memory is 128 MB...
Now, when I bought this laptop, it says that the graphics memory is 128 MB, which is correct.

So I can play high graphic games and applications.
After 9 months, shared for graphics memory become 64 MB! What the?
Now when I play and use applications that need 128 MB, they are advising me that my graphic memory is 64 MB, which is low and applications can become slow.
    Someone had this problem?

I tried to contact Toshiba and they said I need more RAM, I tried calling 4 times and they always say the same thing... but I already 1 024 MB of RAM, which is pretty... My problem is why the motherboard or BIOS does not share up to 128 MB of RAM for the graphics...

    Hello

The satellite A110-276 supports an Intel graphic chip 945GM!
Intel graphics cards affect the automatically shared memory! The graphics driver controls the memory, and you can not manually set the amount!
If the application needs memory more graphic then the driver will assign and automatically share the memory!
Concern don t, everything seems ok!

  • Want to m6 1310sa: how to change the graphics memory on HP Envy laptops

    Hello

I have a HP Envy 1310sa m6, it has an AMD APU of A10 - 5750M with AMD Radeon 8650 G which is 'supposed' dedicated graphics processor. The reason for the quotes is the lack of this gpu provides game performance. I looked online and a majority of the websites say it is truly integrated.

My question is, if it integrated or dedicated I would like to know if it is possible to increase the memory shared/dedicated.

    Thank you for the support,

    Hi @1101001011,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question on your HP ENVY Notebook m6-1310sa and questions or concerns, with graphics memory upgrade. Your system is AMD Radeon HD 8650 G / 7670M bi - GPU (2 GB dedicated DDR3 memory) tweaking the system will cause problems and I do not recommend this.

Look into this further I suggest upgrading the memory on the system. You can upgrade to the memory locations 2 16 GB taking the memory card of 8 GB. Here is a link to your service manual page 28.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • SP A10 - using the BIOS to change the graphic settings

    Hi all

How do you change the graphics settings on an A10 SP from 16 MB to 64 MB? I guess this is done in the Bios but I can't seem to enter the just did F2 key appear the boot options.

    Aid is graetly appreciated.

    Hello

Please use the ESC key to enter the BIOS settings.
You should see the option to increase the shared graphics memory.

  • How can I set on Satellite M70 - 394 to 128 MB graphics memory?

How can I change the graphics memory from 8 MB to 128 MB? I have tired to adjust it by the BIOS but cannot find it there!

As far as I know on laptops with Intel (shared memory) graphics card, it is not possible. It is controlled automatically. For more graphics memory, you must use more RAM.

  • Satellite P305-8915 - how to increase the graphics memory of ATI Radeon 3650?

    Hello

In the specification of [Toshiba P305-8915 | http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2234100& rpn = PSPCCU & modelFilter = & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 10 73768663] I saw grapich memory could be changed, but my question is how to do this? I have search and I can not find it.

Ideas to change the graphics memory?

As far as I know shared memory cannot be set by the laptop user. It depends on the RAM upgrade. With more RAM, graphics card will use more memory for the graphics operation.

As you can see in the specs that your laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB of RAM.

  • Tecra A3 - 106 Intel Graphics memory Question (915GM)

Hello, no doubt this will be a strange question, but please accept my apologies, I can't understand it well...

I have a Toshiba Tecra A3 106 with 915GME 128 MB Intel graphics card... He used to appear as a memory of 128 MB on my system, and somehow, it is now limited to 64 MB probably after update my drivers or a change to the settings of this unit, somewhere...

I recently updated my bios to v.2.50, could this be the reason? or the most recent driver for the game? (I am currently on 6.14.10.4543)

I know that I must be blind I can't find the setting for this... But I need your help...

    Thanks in advance...
    Onur.

EDIT: I realized that it is a thing of BIOS 90%... Phoenix BIOS 2.50 does NOT contain an option to change the graphic committed memory size of 64 MB to 128 or vice versa... My previous BIOS was this option in the tab "Advanced"... And... I can't downgrade to the previous version as installer does not support the downgrade... PS: I checked the Windows settings this topic... Not found no apparent solution...

    Edit2: Found this link about the question on the Toshiba site: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1079 556xml & sliceId = & dialogid = 1150837 & stateId = 0% 200% 201 152026

Obviously, this is a bug in the BIOS and the source suggests that v1.70 and newer versions are fixed... I REALLY DON'T THINK!

ANY IDEAS TO GET AROUND THIS?

    Hello Onur

The link you posted from TOSHIBA U.S. page and I assume that you have a European model of laptop. If you want to update BIOS please use Toshiba European page. The United States from Toshiba is like another firma and it isn't really the same thing.

If models of laptop computers in the United States some problem it doesn? t means that all Toshiba laptops have the same problem.

I checked that your model of laptop shared graphics memory card. I guess you know what that means and the fact is that units with Intel graphics card have no parameters where user can manually set the amount of memory must be used. On ATI graphics cards settings it is possible. I checked a few notebooks similar and in the Phoenix BIOS I didn? t find anything. Because of this, I'm really confused when you mean that this option was available on the ADVANCED tab.

I really hope that someone who have the same unit as you can give us a good info about it.

    Good luck!
