A60: BIOS update failure!

I was updating the bios on my a60, the power failed right now when I try to turn it on it jst beeps four times and then turns off all help?

Hi Steven,

Unfortunately, your CMOS chip has now lost any BIOS that has been installed and therefore cannot boot up your laptop. Your only real option is to contact a Toshiba Service partner who will be able to install the latest BIOS for you.

Without a BIOS of any kind on your chip CMOS you even will not be able to boot from a floppy disk or a CD.

Kind regards

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - BIOS update failure

    Hi people,

It is the second Toshiba laptop, I've managed to screw up. I don't know why, but it seems that Toshiba is especially prone to spectacular failure of BIOS.

This laptop (Satellite L40 - 12K, short model PSL40E) has a bios made by FRIEND and Toshiba has an update on its Web site for windows that uses the tool of WinFlash.exe made by ASUS.

The tool only works for 32-bit operating systems, and I had installed a 64-bit version of Windows, I could not pass the laptop.

Then I thought: we will try to update the bios from MS-DOS, using a bootable flash drive!

I went to the ASUS ftp site and downloaded the latest AFUDOS (2.41). This is a special version of the afudos FRIEND tool, specially designed for ASUS.

I ran the tool under MS-DOS, and it will make sure the BIOS automatically confirmed that the binary file was compatible with the laptop model and automatically starts the process of flashing.

But it crash in the phase of "flash erase". He was stuck there for HOURS, so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on.

Not at all, the laptop won't turn. It does not even ANY SOUND. NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NO FAN, NOTHING.

    ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DEAD.

So, there you have it. I have flashed dozens of computers (servers, laptops, workstations, etc.) in my life, and I've only had TWO failures.

TWO of them were with Toshiba laptops. Geez, Toshiba is really the King of the failures of BIOS flashing!

I would never try update the Toshiba BIOS with a BIOS from other support pages for computer laptop manufacturer
What to say; I found one from Toshiba victory of the BIOS and traditional BIOS Toshiba U.S. driver page:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

Maybe you could try to Flash the BIOS using this version of BIOS
If this is not possible, then only a service provider authorized Toshiba would be able to help you.

By the way: I've had three different Toshiba notebooks: A210, U400, and now Tecra A11.

  • Equium A60 BIOS update: what is the Boot Mode?

Due to problems with my graphics ATI I have to do a BIOS update. To do my computer (Equium A60 PSA67E) apparently needs to be in mode 'start-up', NOT 'repeat mode '. In a previously sent forum somebody said the computer just "should be turned off" but I'm still not sure of how go to this mode. Is it just a case to go to the start menu, click on shut down the computer and turn off the computer again? But how do you know when it is in mode 'start '?
Question: How do in boot mode? (I tried the update in 'safe' mode and it does not work)

    Hello

Boot mode is meaning stop the laptop (BONE).
It is important that the laptop is not in stand mode or hibernation mode.
You just simply close the unit. That s all ;)

  • Satellite P200D-137 - suspected of BIOS update failure

    Hello

My friend asked me to watch his old Satellite P200D of 2 days. He decides to perform the recommended Toshiba updates, after leaving the machine (plugged) and return after about an hour, he was off.

Now switch on the machine causes a black screen with just the hard drive, fans and dvd burner, turning the power on. This being the case, I feel, it was a BIOS update he did this failed. Is it possible to recover from this at all?

    Thank you

You know with certainty that it was done. If the BIOS update is screwed up, it can be problematic, and I'm afraid there is nothing you can do alone and without service.

    Hello

I wonder if anyone can advise me please?

I have a HP Compaq 2510p laptop that starts, displays this error message:

"Your Bios did not complete the update"

A few seconds later late in goes to the HP Invent screen. and then again the previous error message. These two screens cycle constantly and there is not only one key that I can use to access the bios settings.

Presseing F9, F10, F12 or F-everything works. No key command does not work. Can I not boot from the internal drive, CD, USB etc.

How can I regain access to this faulty machine to restore or repair the bios please?

  • New BIOS update failure.

I bought an alienware 17 R3 8 GB of the USA 4 months ago. I live in Turkey where there is only one technical service of Dell in total. Yesterday, I did the BIOS update. Everything was ok, I turned to the bottom of the laptop and slept. But today, I realized that my computer is dead. Thank you for this great update. I'm a regular computer user. I don't know what to do.

If the fix above does not work, then I think your only option is to contact dell. You probably need a motherboard replacement.

  • HP ENVY 700-305no desktop PC: Bios update failure.

    Long story short (a little).

I got a virus, is a virus really means, crypt all my files, prevents the opening of antivirus programs and redirects the downloads.

virus survives 3 reset factory, 3 hard drive formats, and a reinstall of Windows.

This leads me to believe that he himself got into the Bios of my computer.

so I downloaded the latest bios for my system, in this case

Update the BIOS HP consumer desktop PC (SSID family ROM 2AF3)

through the Setup program on another computer, I installed the update to the bios of my USB,

inserted in my main pc, held down the Windows and key B, while starting my computer.

This led beeps and my computer Wrooms, 10 minutes later, nothing happened.

I decided to start the installer directly from inside infected computer, but this resulted in a failure too.

say that the downloaded bios is not compatible.

What I'm asking is how I should go about the removal of the old bios (possibly) infected and reinstall it again.

I'm not aware of a way to Flash the BIOS in Ubuntu, but it might be possible if there is a wine app in the version you have.  I have not experienced or read where someone else tried it either.  You could ask for more in the Ubuntu forums.  Don't know if it is possible to WIN PE 3.0 either.

I think you should wait 60 days for version 10 of Windows to see if it can solve the problem.  10 Windows will automatically make sure you have good drivers (course to 99%).

It is possible that he is in fact a BIOS problem.  But all the advice I would give risk possible to break your computer permanently, and I don't want to do that because there's a pretty good computer (with the exception of windows xp).

I'm guessing Windows 10 retail copy will be cheap enough to buy.  I can't say with certainty that your computer will be in charge of windows 10, but I think it will be.

Also, even if it has nothing to do with your current number, you can not simply exchange cpu like this safely without applying new thermal paste.  There are a few videos on youtube from the manufacturers of motherboards that show you how to clean the old thermal paste and apply new thermal paste.  Make sure that the videos that you watch come from a motherboard manufacturer, not some Joe Blow.

And then if Windows 10 doesn't fix it, you have to decide at that point, if you want to take the risk of bricking messing with the BIOS of your computer permanently.

I'm sure you know that Windows XP is not supported and that there is a security risk.

    Good luck!

Edit: Here's an alternative to Windows XP that works well for older computers of XP.

I flashed the bios with the windows-based utility, but the shutted of the computer down without any warning.

  • HP Envy 17 "touchscreen: BIOS update failure

Today I went to the page for my desire to get updated for network drivers.  While there, I saw an update of the bios date 03/08/16 (today) and went ahead and installed it.  He said in a box she had to restart my laptop and that was the last time that my cell phone worked.  I now have a black screen and the cap lock key blinks twice, then paused and then flashes twice.  Over and over again.

The system does not recognize HD, DVD, or USB drives.

Is there anyway to get this system?

    Hi @campyrs52,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you get a black screen trying to turn on your HP Envy 17 "laptop touch screen. I am pleased to see that for you!

First of all, I would recommend to try to recover the BIOSand then if that doesn't work, try the steps outlined in this guide, the computer does not (Windows 10).

  • RD630 BMC BIOS update failure v16

What didn't was not doing the update BACK to v16 v2.10 BMC, it omits to say Phase 2: timeout.

I'm assuming that Phase 2 is the creation of the virtual USB?

If I'm wrong please let me know.

    3. copy the BMCDOS folder previously extracted on the bootable USB of MS-DOS key.
    4. boot on the USB key on the server that requires the BMC update.
    5. run efbmc.bat to start the update BMC create a virtual USB device.

Never went to this place. Said the Phase 2 Timeout

    6. when the application system create virtual USB device successfully and reboot the system by Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
    7. press F12 to select the USB device as the boot device to enter in BACK and enter the folder BMCDOS Bpackage.
8 run new efbmc.bat to start the BMC update and fill it.

    Does anyone have a suggestion?

I've already updated the system BIOS to the latest version as well as the card RAID LSI firmware.

    Thank you

    Karl

Here are the steps I should take to get the BMC update to work.

Completely turned off and pull power cards.
    Let stand for 10 min.
    Plug the USB bootable
    Connect the cords.
    Turn on the server.
Press F12 to load the boot options.
Select the USB bootable as startup option
When the c: prompt type cd BMCDOS and press on enter
    Type efbmc and press enter
    Look AT the screen
He doesn't go to the top, as the instructions say. The screen will repeat itself in fact twice.
The only difference is that you will see 2 sections where it tells you if it is boot a start or two and then instructions.
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL - restart the server
Press F12 to load the boot options.
Select the USB bootable as startup option
When the c: prompt type cd BMCDOS and press on enter
    Type efbmc and press enter

Here he now will tell you that he finds the virtual USB STICK and start download BMC updated firmware.
This operation will last about 10 minutes, go through all of its updates and controls.
When it's done, it will be back to the command line.

    Hope this helps others.
