Absolute best strategy for crops

What is the best strategy for high precision when the weather is not a question of culture and and want quality 'perfect '?

What is the best strategy of absolute precision low cropping when time is an issue and the standards are still high?

It is has got to be different strategies to achieve this, and I was curious to know if we could pick a winner.

Thank you

Heh, Marian, that about sums it up.

In all seriousness... How to connect 'precision' with 'cropping '? I always thought 'crop' as it is more based on artistic judgment, not something for accuracy. Maybe you could describe your photography and what you expect of your workflow?

Are you cropping the photos of documents? The people? Stars, nebulae and galaxies?

It's the 'precision' you're talking about an attempt to express "a minimal loss of pixel data? If this is the case, download the computer more powerful you can and always work to oversampled resolutions. And don't re - sampled during cropping.

One last comment: consider using the crop tool in the Camera Raw dialog box. It stores the metadata indicating future conversions how to crop the image, but the original raw data are all still intact. Note that you can open a range of images in Camera Raw, do the exhibition and cultural changes and click [OK] to save only the metadata.

  • What is the best strategy for the notes for ePub with Indesign?

    Hi, I created before .epubs.

    The fundamental question is this.

    When I export > ePub and display in the Adobe digital editions, I click on the reference number and nothing happens!

    Note 1

    A couple of days, it wasn't the case.

    I think the bottom has something to do with the question.

    I noticed that in the middle of the ebook, notes have been turned off by one.

    In Indesign, I manually changed all reference numbers in the foot and maybe that is the problem but I do not understand why.

    I think I should have been to change the note reference number in the content, not the footer.

    questions? Why is it automatically refresh and fix all the notes.

    I read somewhere that I have deleted by mistake a reference in the footer, but that this does not update the reference number in the content.

    Note 2

    I created the ebooks in the past with success - workingfootnotes, but I'm rusty. Research online and in Adobetv and youtube, I didn't come on this question or tutorial. I'm on cloud Adobe and using Indesign cc 2014.

    Note3.

    I went about creating an ebook in 2 different ways, and I do not remember why I did it differently or what is the best strategy.

    one.

    Each chapter and each page of the preliminary pages has been his own .indd

    and somehow I ended up together in a single file.

    Issue. This has to do with the new > book. Rather than new > document?

    b.

    I have word for each page of preliminary pages and content documents.

    I PLACED the in my Indesign Document.

    I used paragraph styes to segment the ePub and use the chapter headings in my table of contents.

    Any questions about this process?

    I want each page specific issue before appearing as a new page and each chapter to start on a new page.

    I used export > options > split document but when I view it in ADE, they seem not to be new Pages.

    question? What strategy is best? Why?

    I appreciate the comments.

    There are a handful of individuals who are still monitoring and responding to this forum (4 years later) and I respect your advice.

    Regarding notes dialing number.

    • You mention that you use InDesign book to combine the different chapters in a single EPUB export: for each of these various documents, check the following: Type > Options Document reference. What is the number of defined starting to for each of the documents? They pursue all sequentially the last issue of the previous document in the book? It could be that you skipped a number there may be?
    • Otherwise by manually changing the numbers could inadvertently "broken" anything. You cannot manually select the number in the text of the note at the bottom of the page and change the number, that will not update the number of reference in the text. Your notes would be out.
    • My recommendation, in this case, I recommend that you re - insert references, to the help Type of InDesign help > Insert reference before you redo an EPUB export.

    On document splitting in some places:

    • When you enable Document Split, what other parameter did you get the permit?
    • If you are using based on the paragraph tag Style export, then to check export of marking of paragraph style settings in the Options of paragraph Style dialog box. is 'Split 'Document' option selected? AND in the different chapters and preliminary pages, check what paragraph style is applied to the first line of text in each paragraph must be broken. Each of them must have an applied paragraph style that has the ability to 'Split' "Document enabled.

  • What is the best strategy for wireless printing?

    Hello

    I just got a HP 6500 a wireless all in one printer and have connected a cable ethernet to our wireless router. My desktop under Vista Home Premium is also connected to the router. Printing from the Desktop works fine. We also want to print wireless from a couple of Windows computer laptop, an iPhone and an iPad. I installed the driver of HP Mobile E-print on laptops and it works but I think limiting the size (5 MB) is a problem. I could not print a single page pdf, but a Word doc print very well.

    So, it looks as I could:

    R: Connect the printer to the computer by USB and share the printer on the network. Inconvenience - I think that I have to leave the office all the time and we did not have much success sharing our old HP printer.

    B: install the printer on the network via ethernet and use the built-in web server. So I guess I install the printer on every computer software?

    C: connect the printer wireless. Is this different from option B, other than do not use a cable? The printer is located near the router and the desktop computer for the cable is not a problem.

    I know it may just come down preferably individual, but I would be grateful for any advice as to what direction to go.

    Thank you.

    Dirt gardener

    A is not a good solution. USB sharing printers printers have so many disadvantages, including some you described. In addition, only print can be shared, not analysis or by fax.

    I like B the best. Ethernet is superior wireless if you can connect this way - no password, without interference and is usually a faster interface. Install the printer software on each computer (from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page, not a CD).

    C is OK, but only if you can not connect by Ethernet.

  • best backup strategy for the hotel management system

    Hello
    I have a fresh dba and I need to set a backup strategy for a HOTEL of Mr. must be available 24/7.
    Kindly help me and let me know if you need additional information.

    In your case the most appropriate b/s is with Rman. For this, you need to enable the database to archivelog mode. Each time, you need to copy past files archivelog (and rman full backup of database if you wish) generated after that full backup rman was made. Realize you must have as a minimum a full backup rman, all archivelogfiles has been generated since that time.
    There is also another way to take backup: hot backup. (read more in documentation Ora). But be aware that this will affect database performance while the backup is taken. And it would be a little more difficult for you.
    But if you're not allowed to activate mode archive so the only way is to take the datapump files each time.

  • Best app for the batch processing of photos for the web?

    I would like to know what is the best application for batch processing photos for the web quickly and easily. I'm a web editor and often need to resize, compress, or crop several photos and would like a quick way to configure the basic parameters and processes for example 20 pictures at once. Basically, I'm looking for something with the ability to FastStone Photo Resizer (I'm on a Mac and cannot use FastStone). I remember an once suggested graphic designer LightRoom - would that be a good idea or Adobe has something else? Or maybe not Adobe at all?

    PhotoShop seems heavy for this purpose: it is ideal to make the photo woth that much at the time, but less large to do less with many pictures at once. I know that I can implement some sort of macro-thingie, but I would like to be able to quickly change settings such as the percentage of compression or the width in pixels.

    I don't need a lot of editing tools, mostly just work in pixels, resizing, compression or cropping and save for the web in .jpg and .png - and Mac.

    I hope someone here can guide me in the right direction.

  • Best practices for backup of a VM Web server?

    This question comes from another thread, that I created, but I figure I might as well start a thread fresh since it is his own question.

    Basically, I have an environment that I inherited when I started my new job within this environment, there is a lonely VM that runs from our Web server and was created using VMware player (will go to the workstation for the snapshot feature).

    I am extremely concerned by the fact that there is no backup strategy for it, so I'm interested in finding the best way to save this virtual machine.

    Being that it's a machine virtual I instantly thought, but of course I'm open to dictate what best practices.

    A lot of what I've read so far indicates to stop or suspend the virtual machine, then copy files, however is there a way to do that without temporarily take down my Web server? It's just that we have customers in the world that has access to the server to different time zones and I want her to be in place 24/7.

    You'll have to stop the Virtual Machine and close VMware Player and uninstall VMware Player to install VMware Workstation and it is the time where you should make a backup copy of the master of the Virtual Machine. Once installed VMware Workstation and the Virtual Machine is back and then runs to reduce the minimum time for subsequent backups you necessarily do not do such proposed by Richardson Porto although I don't disagree with what he says.

    In theory anyway, and in practice, when you want to backup you would take a cliché Hot and then copy the Parent disk such that it is now read-only and the Virtual Machine is still running while you make a copy of the Parent disk. Once you have copied the Parent disk, you can then remove the snapshot thus merging Delta and drive Parent and now ready for the next time you want to back up the drive. The duration of that Virtual Machine is interrupted during the snapshot warm and hot snapshot delete should be considerably less and then stop and restart the virtual machine. The reason why I said "in theory" because while it is supposed to work in practice, nevertheless if you correctly shutdown the guest operating system before capture instant, so you do not rely on VMware Workstation to make sure that everything works all in being hot. Not that you should have problems, it's hot, however you remove a layer of the process that has the potential of being wrong compared to when is cold, even if it is cold takes a little longer.

    In both cases, I would avoid cloning because it changes the UUID and MAC address of the clone of the parent company and by creating a second occurrence technically need a second license for the Windows operating system that is installed on the cloned virtual machine. In other words an archived copy complete or exact unedited from the original is a legitimate backup a clone of IMO is a second occurrence but it has a different UUID and MAC address. It would be like taking a copy of the operating system with a single license and install on two different physical computers. Also by doing as I have suggested and make a backup copy of Master of the Virtual Machine and then just save the Parent read-only disks disk hard virtual are themselves not a computer virtual and just that copy a backup, however can be used to restore the same Virtual Machine driven and not having not any changes in the UUID MAC addresses etc.

    Finally, you should look into what you are running in the guest operating system and how to properly save Web Site and database, or user data etc in the guest operating system. In other words, you should always have a copy backup of the virtual machine and everything that is necessary in the guest operating system to be able to restore it without necessarily restore all of the Virtual Machine. IMO it's better to have several and backup types to have more options in a recovery scenario!

  • Best practices for managing strategies of path

    Hello

    I get conflicting advice on best practices for managed paths.

    We are on version 4.0 of ESXi connection to a HP EVA8000. Best practices guide HP recommends setting the strategy of railways handle on Round Robin.

    This seems to give two active paths to the optimized controller. See: http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA1-2185ENW.pdf

    We used certain consultants and they say that the best practices of Vmware for this solution is to use the MRU policy which translates a single path to the optimized controller.

    So, any idea what good practice is best practice? Does make a difference?

    TIA

    Rob.

    Always go with the recommendation of the storage provider. VMware recommendation is based on the characteristics of the generic array (controller, capable ALUA failover methods, etc.). The storage provider's recommendation is based on their performance and compatibility testing. You may want to review their recommendations carefully, however, to ensure that each point is what you want.

    With the 8000, I ran with Round-Robin. This is the option of creating more robust paths available to you from a failover and performance point of view and can provide performance more even through the ports on the storage controller.

    While I did of the specific tests/validation, the last time that I looked at the docs, the configuration of HP recommends that you configure each IO to the ports in the switch configuration. This adds the charge to the ESX host, the switch to other ports, but HP claims that their tests showed that it is the optimal configuration. It was the only parameter I wondered in their recommendation.

    If you haven't done so already, be sure to download the HP doc on configuring ESX and EVA bays. There are several parameters that you must configure the policy path, as well as a few scripts to help make the changes.

    Virtualization of happy!

  • Development strategy for content to iOs (or Android...) created flash, suggestions?

    Hello

    I'm a long-time Flash developer and as most have been really disappointed by the lack of the plug-in on the iOs platform; which is unfortunately not in the way being solved fear...

    In any case, I was wondering what are my options to deploy 'applications' (dynamic graphics for example) created with Flash CS6, both for the web and mobile devices; Here are my questions (Basic):

    -is it possible to deploy Flash content created on iOs without it to be an application that must be downloaded by the user?

    -l'app should be downloaded exclusively via the iTunes store or is there another way (let's say a company wants just an app available on iPads to its agents)?

    -in the case of an application based on the database; the application has the ability to load variables from a web server (php/MySQL)?

    -are there any limits in the AIR compared to normal Flash content (excluding that which is obvious)?

    -is it possible to load external content (images, flash files?)?

    Thanks for your tips and answers; any suggestions on what is the best strategy would be greatly appreciated.

    David

    -is it possible to deploy Flash content created on iOs without it to be an application that must be downloaded by the user?

    Yes, to a certain extent, you can use createJS to export flash content into html5

    -l'app should be downloaded exclusively via the iTunes store or is there another way (let's say a company wants just an app available on iPads to its agents),

    There is another way, you can use "distribute special purpose."

    -in the case of an application based on the database; the application has the ability to load variables from a web server (php/MySQL)?

    Yes. (in addition, an air application can create, edit, and delete a local version of mysql databases).

    -are there any limits in the AIR compared to normal Flash content (excluding that which is obvious)?

    Yes, but usually you can do much more air than flash Web content

    -is it possible to load external content (images, flash files?)?

    Yes. There is a limitation on the external SWFs loaded is not able to run actionscript but which is disappearing and there are alternatives (using CFCS).

  • Best practices for deferred loading collection once but ensuring there?

    I'm confused on best practices for managing the "setup" of the form, where I need a remote call to occur once only once for the form, but I also need to make use of this collection for a combobox that will change when different lines in the DataGrid or clicked. Easier if I just explain...

    1. You click on a row in a datagrid control to modify an object (for this example we will say it is an "employee")
    2. The form you go must have a collection of objects 'Department' charged by a remote call. This collection of departments should only occur once, since it is not common for them to change. The departments collection is used to fill a combobox in form.
    3. You need to understand what Department of the comboBox control is the property selectedIndex by iterating over the departments and find one that fits the employee.department.id

    Individually, I know how I can do all of the above, but because of the asynchronous nature of Flex, I'm having hard time setting up things. Here are a few questions...

    My first thought was just put the loading of the departments in an init() method on the employeeForm who would load as an event on the form creationComplete(). On the component page grid when the event handler by clicking a line of fire, I then calls the setup() method on my employeeForm which stands at which selectedIndex to set to the combobox control looking at the departments.

    The problem is the resultHandler for the load of the departments could not returned (so departments could not be there when "setUp" is called), but I can't put my business logic to determine the correct combobox in the departmentResultHandler because it would mean that I would always have whenever I don't want the fire of the call to the remote server object.

    I have to miss a single best practice? Suggestions welcome.

    Hi there rickcr

    It is pretty rough and you need to make a few storage upward, but take a look below.

    http://www.Adobe.com/2006/mxml"layout ="absolute">

            Import mx.controls.Alert;
    Import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;

    private var comboData:ArrayCollection;

    private void Setup (): void {}
    If {(comboData)
    Alert.Show ("data are present")
    populateForm()
    } else {}
    Alert.Show ("data not '")
    getData();
    }
    }

    private void getData (): void {}
    comboData = new ArrayCollection();
    The result of this call, the installer again
    }

    private function populateForm (): void {}
    fill out your form
    }
    ]]>

    I think this example type of watch you want. When you first click on tab 2 there is no data. When you click on tab 2 once again, there is. The data for your combo will be stored in comboData. When the component gets created first the comboData is not instansiated, just romance. This allows you to say

    If (comboData)

    This means that if the variable contains your data, you can fill out the form. Initially it is not so now the else condition, you can call your data and return the result of your data then you can say

    comboData = new ArrayCollection(), put the data in it and remember the installation again. This time comboData is populayed and is so it will run the method populate the form and you can decide which selected item to affect.

    If it is on a large scale you want to look into the creation of a suitable handler class to handle this, but this simple demo shows you can test to see if the data is different.

    Hope it helps and gives you some ideas.

  • Best practices for the application of sharpness in your workflow

    Recently I tried to get a better understanding of some of the best practices for sharpening in a workflow. I guess that I didn't know, but there are several places to sharpen. Who are the best? They are additive?

    My typical workflow involves capture an image with a professional DSLR in RAW or JPEG or import into Lightroom and export to a JPEG file for the screen or printing of two lab and local.

    There are three places in this workflow to add sharpening. In the DSLR manually into Lightroom and when exporting a JPEG file or print directly from Lightroom

    It is my understanding that sharpening is added to RAW images even if you add sharpening in your DSLR. However sharpening will be added to the JPEG from the camera.

    Back to my question, it is preferable to manually the sharpness in the SLR in Lightroom or wait until you export or output of your printer or final JPEG file. And additive effects? If I add sharpening to the three places I am probably more sharpening?

    You have to treat them differently both formats. Data BULLIES never have any sharpening applied by the camera, only JPEG files. Sharpening is often considered to be a workflow where there are three steps (see here for a seminal paper on this idea).

    I. a step sharpening of capture which compensates for the loss of sharp in detail due to the Bayer matrix and the filter anti-repliement and sometimes the lens or diffraction.

    II. A creative sharpening step where some details in the image are 'highlighted' sharpness (do you eyelashes on a model's face), and

    III. output sharpening, where you fix the loss of sharpness due to the scale/resampling for the properties of the average output (as blur because of an impression how process works or blurry because of the way that a screen LCD sets out its pixels).

    These three are implemented in Lightroom. I. and II. are essential, and basically must always be performed. II. until your creative minds. I. is the sharpening that see you in the Panel to develop. You need zoom at 1:1 and optimize the settings. The default settings are OK but quite conservative. Usually you can increase the value of the mask a little so that you're not sharpen noise and play with the other three sliders. Jeff Schewe gives an overview of a strategy simple to find the optimal settings here. It is for the cab, but the principle remains the same. Most of the photos will benefit from optimization a bit. Don't go overboard, but just OK for smoothness to 1:1.

    Stage II as I have said, is not essential, but it can be done using the local adjustment brush, or you can go to Photoshop for this. Stage III, however, is very essential. This is done in the export, the print panel Panel or the web. You can't really get a glimpse of these things (especially the sharpening printing-oriented) and it will take a little experimentation to see what you like.

    For jpeg, sharpening is done already in the camera. You could add a small extra capture sharpening in some cases, or simply lowering the sharpening in camera and then have more control in the post, but generally, it is best to leave it alone. Stage II and III, however, are still necessary.
