  • WAP54G access point cannot connect to more than one PC at a time

    Hello

I'm a newbie in the entire wireless router installation process.

I have a WAP54G AP. I managed to enter the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.

The issue I'm facing is that when my roommate and I try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects then as one who has "limited connectivity" and so cannot use the internet. However, the 1st laptop works very well!

The settings for the router were all left by default.

I don't know, but this problem has something to do with the fact that the router that is configured with a static IP address.

If Yes, then there is an another issure which is that whenever I have try to change static automatic/Dynamic IP, the page fails and that the router is not even connect to configuraion (192.168.1.245) page after that. The only way to get this page again is the reset of the router.

Also I am not able to get directly in the config page, when I connect my router to my laptop through lan. I need to change the LAN IP address to 192.168.1.x where x is > 1.

Is this normal or is there a problem?

If anyone has a solution to all or part of these problems, I'd love to hear back in shape as you.

    Thank you!

    Yes. This is the reason.

  • Programmatically, by selecting the WiFi Access Point to connect to.

I'm looking for an application that uses HTTP connections to retrieve information.  We want the opportunity to connect only via wifi and after reviewing learned developer tutorials we can do this by using the "= wifi interface" parameter.  The next part of the research is to find if there is a way for the application programmatically specify the WiFi AP to connect to, in addition to using wifi only.  This woud be similar to go to Options Wi - Fi and manually choose the particular profile of Wi - Fi to use and then launch the application.  If we want to be able to do in the application.  The scenario: we have 4 routers wireless and provide us the user the opportunity to choose a new one for this particular application.  Development is done on the 8820 and curve.

You can use the interface = wifi parameter to specify that the connection should be made on the Active Wi - Fi network, but it is not possible to programmatically select the Wi - Fi network, the BlackBerry smartphone (or your application) must connect.

  • With the help of new access points with old WLC 4100; LWAPP layer 2 switching 3-tier

    Hi all

We currently use two solutions Wiresless LAN - a 10 AP1230 access points-based autonomous (5 years) and a solution based on a Cisco WLC 4100 (4112, running 3.2) with 12 AP1010 LWAPP access points.

First thing, we are considering to replace the stand-alone solution with the WLC one. However, I'm not sure if we can use the new access points such as the LAP1041N or the LAP1252G with our current 4100 WLC. Access reported data sheets 'Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 7.0 or later version' 'software '. Does this mean that these access points can only be used with controllers running 7.0 or later?

If we are unable to use the new access points with our current WLC and need to buy a new controller: can we use access points AP1010 current with a new WLC as the Cisco 4402?

Second thing, it is that we want to expand the networks configured on the WLC 4100 to another site that is connected via VPN wireless. Wireless Setup guide indicates that the LWAPP mode can be changed from Layer 2 to 3 layers so that the access points can be configured with an IP address, which allows you to place access points basically anywhere as long as IP connectivity exists between the AP and the WLC.

Y does it as described in a document with the change of mode LWAPP layer 2 to 3 layers? Or ist just the following steps (if I understand correctly):

-Change the Mode of Transport LWAPP on the controller of layer 2 to 3 layers

-Creation of a PA-manager interface with an IP address in the same subnet as the management interface (tried that, without changing LWAPP mode transport first and not was not possible - error)

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Is it really just as simple as that? All information about it is very appreciated!

/ edit: I would also like to know if the 1260 series access point are backward compatible with 802. 11B. Whereas it is stated in 1040 and 1250 for example series data sheets, it is not particularly mentioned in 1260 data sheet.

    Thank you

    Michael

Well, let's start with the simple question/answer

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Yes, it's as simple as that.

As for other issues, looks like you would be better served with a forklift upgrade.  New controllers and new AP.

Now, the AP 1230/1240/1250. all work on the 4.2, 1140 code starts with 5.2 and 1040/3500/1260 are 7.0

The AP 1000 series is not supported after 4.2 code.

Refer to here for the complete list of the AP and taken codes supported:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7.0.html#wp610751

From what I see, the 4100 is not supported after the train of 3.2.

So, it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the upgrade.  If you are looking for a 80.211n support, you really want to be 5.2 or better, we had some problems with MRR + 40 Mhz channels, 4.2, 5 GHz band only.

  • Windows 7 wireless emphasizes the connection to the wrong access point

I use a model of wireless USB Netgear WN111 with Windows 7 64-bit adapter, connect to a D-Link wireless access point.

Every time I have connect or wake the computer from sleep, he insists on connecting to the wrong access point - it connects to an unsecured Linksys device somewhere within the range.  I then manually connect to the correct access point - my D-Link.

I went into the network sharing Center > manage the wireless networks and removed the network Linksys of rogue, but it always comes back.

    Any ideas or advice?

    Hello

I don't know why he keeps picking up the 'rogue' network after that you deleted. My Windows 7 does not behave like that, and my research can reveal a way that I could do. Maybe someone else can tell you why he does. However, as a solution, you can try the following in manage wireless networks...

    1. do not remove the network of thugs, move it to the bottom of the list all the way down.

    2. open the rogue network properties and uncheck the box "connect automatically when this network is in range.

    3. open the properties of your network and check the box "connect automatically when this network is in range.

    4. you can even try to untick "connect to a more preferred network if available" both networks.

Please mark this as useful or response if applicable.

  • SSH access to LWAPP Access Point

    Hello

I have just a question about the access point (in LWAPP) using SSHv2.

When can I see the beginning of the AP (in my case a 1242AG) the SSHv2 is enabled, but when I try to connect to the AP by SSH, my SSH connection is cancelled immediately.

My access point is connected to a switch (i.e: Cisco 3560).

And another question on this topic... Why that I can ping my LWAPP AP when it is connected to a switch and not when it is connected directly to the WLC (in my case a WLC 2106).

    Many thanks and best wishes,

    Jeff,

4.1 you can actually enable telnet or ssh by using this command:

    config ap ssh enable

    allow config ap telnet

But you must assign a user name and password by entering:

config ap ID password all the

  • configure my WRT54G Router as access point?

Hi all, hoping someone can explain the process of setting up my WRT54G as access point to connect to my new WRT310N router. I get under the floor and string a long ethernet cable to add wireless across the House but I don't know how to properly prepare for the router, if I can set up once it is hooked, etc.. ? I've read conflicting reports on the question if I need to change the SSID and if devices hooked to the point of access can still obtain IP addresses dynamically.

The mixture of N and G will be as problematic?

    For General configuration, see here.

Use identical settings SSID und on both wireless security. Use many different channels. Then you have a roaming wireless network.

  • E2500 used as access point

I use a Linksys E2500 in a LAN wired as an access point by connecting to one of the LAN ports not the internet port. The IP address is 192.168.1.2. The default gateway (192.168.1.1) is a Paul 6218 - I2 - xxx wireless modem router ADSL, which is also the active DHCP server. In the E2500 DHCP server is disabled but NAT is enabled. Everything works fine and the wireless clients to connect without a problem and get an IP address from the Paul 6218. Customers can browse the network and the internet.

I can access the web management page anywhere on the LAN on http://192.168.1.2/ . I have the 6218 Paul set up with Virtual Server NAT and DNS entries dynamic to enable Remote Desktop, as well as access to a Web server on the Internet. I am also able to access the web page of the 6218 management Paul remotely by specifying the port: 8080 after the URL. However, I can't access the web page of the Linksys E2500 despite having management remotely set up a password and selecting port 8081 to avoid the Paul 6218 conflicted with the remote port. The NAT virtual server entry in the Paul 6218 passes external port 8081 to port 8081 192.168.1.2. When you perform a remote port probe, all transferred ports respond by 'listening' with the exception of port 8081 who responds as "filtered". All unused ports respond with "listening do not.

How remote management can be accomplished when the E2500 is used as an access point? I thought to turn off NAT and use of dynamic routing, but I have no experience.

1 correct. With a LAN - LAN connection the E2500 is not accessible from the outside nor Internet access itself (for example the clock does not on the E2500). This is because with this kind of configuration the E2500 himself will review the default gateway in the internet and so would expect a working internet connection on the internet port.

    2. make sure you have the latest firmware installed. I think the latest firmware should have the ability to configure the connection mode internet mode "bridge." In Bridge mode, connect via the internet port. In bridge mode, you can configure a default gateway on the E2500, and he will have a working internet connection.

If your Access Point is connected to a wired router, so you don't have to change the settings of your router, you just need to enable wireless security and change the SSID of your Access Point, and it should be good to go... Also make sure that your Access Point is in the subnet of your router...

If the IP address of the router is 192.168.1.1, then the Access Point on your address IP should be 192.168.1.245...

  • Tunnel traffic through the Access Point

    I "tunnelenabled" in the parameters of Access Points of JSON: true;

And on the Access Point associated connection servers config guide recommends not allowing the tunneling.

The end result is that the traffic is going through the Access Point and not crossing does not connect to the server. The client wants to keep the absolute minimum for the ports open between the objects, so I want to tunnel traffic from the Access Points through the connection to the server, and then click the virtual and physical machines internal who installed the agent to view. Even when I check the options of tunnel on the login server it always appears as if traffic is bypassing the broker for the connections and go straight to the agents.

What the configuration change that I do have all the traffic goes through the access points and associated connection servers?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion-

After a lot of trial and error reduced us to certificates that we created for Access Points. HTML5 Blast Bridge did not have other names of the object in the cert. Once we gave them a cert that had the URL and not the SAN (subject alternative names) with the real access Point server names that Blast started working again.

Yes, 1000 access points are supported only on code 4.2... They do not have enough memory to support higher levels of code...

    Hello

I would like to know what is happening to access connected to a Cisco WLC points if the evaluation license reached its expiration date and other licenses have not yet been installed all connected access points would cease immediately operation?

    Yes, they would stop working.

Note: when you add licenses a reboot is required. Even if the number of supported the HA increases on reset controller is always necessary for these devices to register on the controller under the permanent license. I once added licenses and when I saw the number of the AP increase - I experimented with the restart - and when evaluating lic. expiration of my AP dropped the controller.
